Prologue: Mission Success

"We sure made quite a haul!", said a buff looking man as he sifted through a large pile of various items: from scrolls, to jewelry, to sacks of gold coins.

"Heck yeah!", said another.

"I can't believe that was rather easy", exclaimed another.

Soon the three were joined by five more people, each carrying more loot from the carriage they just robbed. They were bandits. They've been doing this for God knows how long and are enjoying the fact that they are preying upon passersby as they headed to a village that just held a special event. The village in question was the Village Hidden in the Leaves. Weeks before, the village was the venue for the yearly Kage Summit. These bandits knew that merchants from all around will converge in the village to capitalize on this occasion. The opportunity couldn't be any better, but besides from their usual modus of robbing merchants on the roads, they were given a task from an unknown client.

Together with the summit, the Chunin Advancement Examinations were held after so many years. It was, however, interrupted by three unknown assailants that kidnapped the Hidden Leaf Village's leader, the Seventh Hokage, but was rescued by his son with the aid of the other Kages and a certain individual. Even if the commotion was already dying down, fear and panic was still prevalent since Lord Seventh was nearly taken down. This was a great chance to fulfill the task the bandits were given: steal a special scroll the belonged to the once powerful Uzumaki Clan. The scroll was carried by a merchant guild that served the once thriving clan for generations, and now the said merchants will give it to the clan's current head in the hopes to aid it in its reformation.

With the scroll in hand and spoils from the merchant caravan taken, the bandits set camp in the far outskirts of the village. They thought that they were successful in completing their task and celebrated for what was seemingly a job well done. Unbeknownst to them, they were being watched. Hiding from them were four shinobis watching their every move. One was on top of a branch counting the number of enemies they needed to neutralize. She was a young kunoichi with raven-black hair and a pair of red-framed glasses. She wore a form-fitting sleeveless mission gear with a crest on the back depicting a red and white fan. The other was a young male with silver hair wearing a blue and white keikogi. His job was to analyze all possible escape routes the miscreants may take. Finally, we have the last member of this young squad, who had blonde hair, cerulean blue eyes and two whisker marks on his cheeks. He wore a black jacket with the crest of his clan imprinted at the back. His job was to assess the bandits in terms of fighting capability. All three were awaiting command from their team captain.

"Are you in position?" said an older voice in the three's ears via coms. He was the team's captain. He wore the Leaf Village's tactical vest and a blue scarf. "What's the status Red Fan?"

"Eight enemies in total", replied the kunoichi.

"How about you White Snake?"

"All possible escape routes identified", replied the silver-haired Shinobi.

"Golden Maelstrom?"

"We should take away their ability to see and take them down silently, starting with the weakest one and then teaming up to beat the buff one", answered the blonde.

"Great assessment all of you. On my signal, we all throw smoke bombs and take them out one by one. Understood?"

"Yes sir!" all three affirmed.

They stood in their current positions, biding for the perfect time. And then...

"GO!", commanded the captain.

All four ninjas simultaneously threw smoke bombs at the bandit camp. In a moment's notice, the bandits were now covered in thick smoke. One by one the bandits fell to the trained shinobi. The buffed bandit can hear the screams of his comrades as they wail in agony, only to be silenced later. Seemingly unaware of the cause, it was only a matter of minutes until only the muscled one remained. The smoke began to clear and on the ground were the unconscious bodies of the bandits and standing tall are the four ninjas responsible. The blonde ninja simply smirked, angering the remaining enemy. He placed the palms of his hands-on top of the other and began to concentrate energies within it. Then a small sphere of energy appeared between his hands. He threw it to the bandit but just before it reached its target, it dissipated.

"That was pathetic!" said the bandit to mock the blonde ninja.

"Wait for it", replied the shinobi with anticipation in his eyes.

Suddenly an explosion sent the bandit flying, spinning in the air like a ragdoll and landing ten feet away from where he was standing, knocking him out cold. All robbers were tied up together by the ninjas who completed their mission. One of them woke up and looked at the blonde ninja in bewilderment.

"Y-you l-look like the S-Seventh Hokage!" he stuttered.

The boy in question gave a mischievous grin that only his father can beat. He then proudly said, "Of course I am. I'm Boruto Uzumaki!"
