CHAPTER 1 - THE BEGINNING...THAT CHANGES EVERYTHING

There are many things that people would desire or wish to have in life…sometimes you even wish that you're in the world of fantasy, magic, and myth-with all the fantastical creatures of dragons, elves, and such beings alike…and become a part of a grand adventure that will change your life forever.
Well…as the saying goes… 'Be careful what you wish for'
My name is Arian Skye.
This…is my story.
The story of a life-changing adventure that everyone will know about.

A young girl, who is Arian Skye, looking very young like she's in the ages of early twenties-but in reality, she's 30 years old.
And she seemed to be so bored, despite that she was enjoying watching her most favorite shows and movies-that only concerned Dragons.
She's inside her own apartment that she managed to gain for herself, and for so long, she's been estranged from her family because she wanted to achieve her dreams, even though they kept discouraging her or tried to tell her that it's all a waste with what she chose to do in life, for over nothing but she ignored them all and worked hard to take what she wanted and didn't care whether it causes a rift between her and her family, almost banishing herself for good, being away from them.
She got what she wanted in the end and no matter how hard or heartbreaking it felt, that she's all alone on her own…she's happy and content with what she has right there, then, and now.
And she's not regretting it…even one bit.
But then…she's starting to get the feeling of wanderlust.
The feeling of wanting to go on a grand adventure of a lifetime.
The feeling of something that she wanted to grab on next, and setting out on her own on the next stage of life, after fulfilling her goal on being on her own.
Well…little did Arian know…is that the wish she's desiring for in her mind is coming for her sooner than expected.
In an unexpected…magical way.

Arian Skye was looking at some trinkets in a newly-opened antique shop when she was walking and then nearly passed by the place when she spotted it.
She almost tripped over her feet upon seeing something really interesting when her eyes caught sight of it and despite that the shop seemed new and normal, she couldn't help but feel some kind of mysterious mystical vibe when she got inside.
Arian looked around, her eyes almost sparkling and beaming as she looks over and studies many various and different items on display, from ornaments to souvenirs, to intricate carvings and old antique books on sale in the shop.
It was when she caught sight of something shiny at the far back of the shop, her eyes instantly gleaming with interest as Arian moved to see what the item is.
It turns out that the shiny thing that flickered which she caught sight of, was a large human-sized oval mirror in which the reflection glinted from the overhead lights or some of the rays of sunlight when it turned to its direction there at the back.
Arian was wondering how the light could be able to penetrate into the thick darkness of some sort of storage room that the mirror is placed in the store's back but she shook that thought off for later because she was so interested in the mirror when she saw that it has intricate Rune-like markings that are etched or carved into the edges of the big mirror's framework.
Whether it's by Fate, coincidence-or maybe a stroke of good fortune or bad luck…Arian couldn't help but reach out to touch the mirror, from glass to its frame, so softly in her caressing gentle strokes like she wanted to touch this mirror because somehow she felt a mysterious magical feeling from it.
And somehow the mirror responded to her touch like a trigger and started glowing brightly like crazy.
Arian had to shield her eyes from the sudden brightness of the light that suddenly shined from the mirror's reflective surface until it was gone and faded away for her to blink and then see what just happened.
Arian's eyes widened in surprise and shock when the mirror is showing her a different view instead of her own reflection and needless to say-she's very much amazed upon staring at it.
The sight-or rather the scene she's looking at, from the revealed magical mirror, shows the view of another world.
A world that looked to be of the fantasy kind, filled with magic and mythical magical beings!
There are royal kingdoms, medieval knights, elves, dwarves-even DRAGONS!
Not only were the Dragons are the normal mythical ones she's seen drawn in fantasy books and such-but there are also the special mixed ones from certain movies and TV shows that she loved watching always and all the time in her entire life.
Arian was completely mesmerized in wonder and awe at the amazing sight of seeing the various dragons flying about in this fantasy world scene she's staring at, that she didn't realize she was reaching out her hand again to touch the mirror, and again, it responded by the rune-carved engravings on the frame glowing once more but the mirror kept with its scenic view playing out of the other world she's viewing still.
Arian felt like she suddenly got stuck on something and realized her hand had its palm stuck to one side of the mirror's reflection and tried to pull away but couldn't as she's strangely stuck.
She strained herself, trying to pull her hand back but it's like whatever is sticking at her, responded by pulling her still, almost like her entire body or being-or perhaps her own spirit is getting sucked into the mirror.
Before the magic mirror-not sure whether good or bad magic-is sucking Arian into it, the last thing she saw was, the scene changing to do a close-up view towards some girl that's living in that fantasy world.
And strangely enough-the girl looked almost exactly like her, but much younger in age, maybe in her teens or something.
But this teen girl in the other fantasy world-that seemingly looked like Arian's mirror image or counter-part-was depressed as she is crying copious tears like she's living a meaningless life and wanted to end it right there and then.
For the girl is standing and almost leaning near the edge of a high castle tower.
Arian didn't have time to think or react to what's going on and why this mirror is showing her this as well as somehow pulling her in but then, the last thing she remembers is another bright glow and the last thing she sees from the mirror is the part where the girl is getting ready to climb up and then jump off the tower.
When somehow the Gods-or maybe Fate-decided to intervene and switch souls.
For after the blinding glow of the light ended and Arian's last screaming cry sounded aloud, the shop's owner came running into the back to see what's going on, thinking it was a thief.
That's when a terrifying horrified scream was sounded again and then the owner was calling 911 frantically upon suddenly seeing a dead body lying next to the mirror, that somehow turned back to normal but the rune carvings around the frame have mysteriously disappeared, making the mirror into a mundane normal kind.
By the time the paramedics have arrived, the body of Arian Skye was pronounced dead by unknown causes and as they were wheeling the dead corpse into the ambulance, while the police questioned the owner about the incident, they were all scratching their heads in puzzlement over this strange case of a healthy-fit young woman-who suddenly dropped dead just like that, without any known causes or natural deadly-found source.

WELCOME TO THE NEW LIFE…IN THE NEW WORLD…OF MAGIC AND DRAGONS!
Arian Skye didn't know that her own soul or spirit has left her body from the modern world and got switched with her counterpart or mirror image in the fantasy one as if the Gods or maybe Fate itself was twisting the two girls of two worlds' fates from dead to the living.
All she sensed-or rather felt-was the pulling sensation from the mystical strange mirror, then the feeling like she's flying uncontrollably in the air, until she finally reached solid ground-in a literal way-when she felt being plunged into something and then woke up in a sudden gasp, her eyes opening wide to see the bright blue sky above her.
"PRINCESS SKYE! Are you alright!?"
An unfamiliar strange face of a young teen girl is now looking down at her and Arian was slow for a moment, to realize that this one appeared to be a servant or something as the girl carefully lift her up when 'Princess Skye' was found up high in the castle tower, just lying down on the ground but near the edge of the tower railing, which reveals some troubling suspicions to the servant-girl.
"Princess…I know you have some problems but…there's no need for you to do this!" the maid cried pitifully, with tears also running down from her eyes like she's begging Arian to not commit suicide upon running up and seemingly catching her in the act, even though this one only found her lying down on the stone ground at the tower.
Arian blinked in confusion but fortunately, her mind flashed fast and made her remember what happened and she quickly protested. "I wasn't going to do that! I was only up here in the tower to clear my head for it helps me think or clear up any problems or conflicts I'm feeling! How dare you think such a thing like that!?"
Arian Skye, who somehow got pulled, transported, and then transmigrated into a new body, which is eerily similar to hers but it's like she somehow turned back into her younger self. Her mind theorizing that she's in the ages of her young teenager years, maybe 15 or something.
Nevertheless, Arian focused on reassuring her 'handmaiden' as the servant girl turned out to be, that she only fainted from standing up in the tower for too long under the sun, and she let the relieved girl lead her back to her quarters, which Arian was silent all the way but her eyes darted around, observing her new surroundings with keen eyes and senses.
Arian even nonchalantly asked her personal handmaiden about herself, making sure that she didn't notice anything amiss when she dryly asks her to remind herself of what her role is here in this grand castle.
As it turns out, Arian heard correctly that she 'Arian Skye' is the royal 'Princess' of this castle and the land itself, which is the kingdom of Katolis.
Not only that-she is the Crown Princess, despite that her royal blood status is that of a half-blood when her father, the King, had mistakenly laid bed with another woman besides the queen and this unknown woman just dropped off her child into the castle doorstep before disappearing.
There were many, including the royal advisor Viren, who protested that Arian Skye cannot be the child of the King, and insisted that she should be put away to an orphanage.
But King Harrow commanded his royal advisor, who's also a Mage, to use magic to confirm the paternity and Viren begrudgingly did, instantly regretting that he didn't tamper with the spell when it showed the results that Arian is the King's blood-related daughter.
Queen Sarai didn't protest into accepting her with open arms, for she had difficulty conceiving a child and believed that Arian is some kind of gift or blessing given by the Gods to grant the King and Queen a child to be heir to the throne and be the precious treasure and light of their lives. The queen had already forgiven the King for his brief affair because he had already admitted his sin when he got drunk at that time and realized with dread and horror of the crime he's done when he woke up and remembered what happened from his drunkenness.
King Harrow and Queen Sarai didn't hesitate into accepting Arian Skye into the royal family when she was cruelly abandoned just like that and they decided to name her as the royal heir to the throne, despite her half-blood status and unknown origin of the mother. And even though, the king and queen had two more children, who are the young princes Callum and Ezran…the royal rulers were delighted that Arian has grown well to be the kind and gentle loving sister that she is, when her brothers were born and cared and loved them like they're her own siblings, despite not blood-related at all.
Even when Arian was told the truth of her parentage when she asked about the reason why she does not look like or have the distinctive features from either king and queen, she accepted the harsh reality of the truth about herself and accepted her parents with open arms, still loving them as her own despite her father seems to regret that time when she was conceived and that she was abandoned by her unknown mother heartlessly.
Now, it turns out the main reason why Arian Skye has been feeling sad and depressed at her ripe recent young age of fifteen-was because her mother, Queen Sarai was killed by unfortunate circumstances from the King of Dragons, known to the humans as 'Thunder' but to the magical beings of Xadia as King Avizandum.
King Harrow was consumed by grief that he nearly forgot his parenting duties to his children, which made Princess Skye take over them, into looking after and caring for her two younger brothers, which Callum is 10 and little Ezran is only 5 in years of their ages then.
Then Arian's handmaiden finished the tale about her obliviously, telling her that the last thing that happened was something that had gotten Arian very sad and does not know the reason for her sudden depression, despite that she was busy caring and loving her brothers in replacement of their absent father the King.
They reached into Arian's quarters at the end of her story and Arian nodded at her personal servant that she's fine and that she would like to be alone. But she added in the reassurance that she's fine really and needs to rest when she noticed the sudden worried look on her face again like the servant girl is concerned that Arian might be depressed still and will attempt suicide maybe.
To make the servant feel more assured, Arian told her to send for her brothers to her room, for she has something to discuss with them or something and the handmaiden left to do her task, reluctantly leaving her princess alone, which she's very honored and devotedly loyal to serve.
Arian sighed with relief once the servant girl left and then went inside her room, quickly looking around and searching to find clues or anything more about herself, including the part on why the former person of this 'Princess Arian Skye' was contemplating suicide before and she ended up switched and turned into her body.
It wasn't long until she found a simple letter left on her desk, that was meant for any servant or someone to find it if Arian 'dies' or went 'missing'. She opened it and read its contents, and the truth about her attempted suicide was written into the letter, revealing the truth that her death was supposed to stop her father, King Harrow from making the most grievous mistake that will send their kingdom-actually, the entirety of the fantasy world into a great war.
It seems that Viren, the royal advisor, and so-called great magician, has been whispering dark suggestions to King Harrow that the Dragon King should pay for the crime of killing his wife, Queen Sarai-even though the truth of that time, she was killed from his fire only by accident upon being in the way.
It seems that he was torn on the verge of accepting Viren's suggestion or not doing it but it looks like he's turning to the latter point on going out there to hunt the Dragon King and exacting vengeance for his wife's death.
The former Princess Arian was distressed upon sneakily eavesdropping on them by chance and thought that maybe with her 'death' he would change his mind about it and finally focus on his sons once the Crown Princess Skye dies from 'depression'.
It looks like the newly-replaced Arian Skye will not be taking that route or decide to do just that, for she believed she was brought here for a purpose, so she didn't hesitate to throw the undiscovered suicide note into the fire and have it burn to ashes and nothing, which fortunately was still lit up in the fireplace of her quarters.
Then Arian looked around more to find out what her interest or secret hobbies are, despite the obvious that she's a devoted reader of books and was an avid student on being knowledgeable for politics since she's the Crown Princess.
She finally found it-which is under her double king's kind of bed-and she didn't have difficulty into moving it as it seemed that she somehow modified it herself to let it flip over by a spring and then felt around the floor until she found a latch which opens and reveals her secret stash.
Arian discovered that she's a craftsman of some kind or an inventive tinker girl as she noticed the various knick-knacks and gadgets she's working on that are finished or unfinished. There's even a notebook that has detailed drawings and worded instructions, written by hand, showing her the various inventions or ideas she's working on with this special yet secret hobby.
Finally, she found a big black bound-strapped book at the very bottom of the small box-shaped hatch that holds her secret stash, and Arian grunts soundly from its slightly heavyweight when she took it out and lift it up to her lap, unbound the strap, and opens it to see its contents.
Arian didn't realize she was staring at the open big book with stunning wonder and awe in her face before she finally responded after a slightly long moment or so.
"This…changes everything!" she whispered softly.
When Arian had found the great big book, which is titled the 'Dragon Chronicles', it turns out that it holds all the written knowledge from some ancestor or family relative of hers, that details all the intricate descriptive knowledge of Dragons-all kinds from the great big Dragons to the small kinds, which she saw in some drawings, that are very familiar to her from her former old world.
And then it looks like she suddenly has some grand idea or many great ideas running inside her head.
Even the ever-present gleam in her eyes like she's thinking of something amazing…or maybe something crazy, that she'll be pulling off in the future ahead.
Which may be the greatest achievement for the kingdom-or become a great benefit in the entire fantasy world, that will come.
And the story begins…when the years pass on, and then the whispers of tales and rumors in the human kingdoms spread about…the 'Dragon Rider'.
