Mobius remembered. All of it, all at once.
/It's funny, for someone born to rule, you sure do lose a lot. You might even say it's in your nature./
/All I seek is a deeper understanding of the fearsome God of Mischief. What makes Loki tick?/
/You weren't born to be king, Loki. You were born to cause pain and suffering and death. That's how it is, that's how it was, that's how it will be./
He remembered everything.
/We're not just looking for a time criminal. We're looking for a Loki. A variation of this guy. A type we should all be very familiar with, because the TVA has pruned a lot of these guys, almost more than any other Variant. And no two are alike. Slight differences in appearances, or not so slight./
Insubordinate. Stubborn. Unpredictable.
/Look, I know you have a soft spot for broken things. But Loki is an evil, lying scourge. That is the part he plays on the Sacred Timeline./
/Maybe he wants to mix it up./ A pause. /Sometimes you get tired of playing the same part./
/No one bad is ever truly bad. And no one good is ever truly good./
Mobius fell back against the driver's side door, gazing at Sylvie in wonder. She was staring back at him, eyes wide.
"Are you…all right?" he asked, still reeling from the return of his memories. Sylvie, for her part, looked almost as numb as he felt.
"Yes," she said, rubbing her forehead and blinking slowly. "Just…wasn't expecting that, is all."
"Neither was I," he replied softly. He continued staring for a few moments, then cleared his throat, starting the car again. "We need to look for Loki. Our Loki. And then figure out how to get out of here."
She nodded in agreement, eyes resolutely focused on the terrain ahead. "Are you familiar with the layout of this place?"
"Completely unfamiliar," he confessed. "But I know how he thinks, and I have a feeling that he's still alive and we can find him. God of Mischief and all that."
"Ah," she replied, scanning the surrounding territory for possible signs of shelter, somewhere a person could rest and remain unseen. She glanced at him and smiled slightly. "And who better to find a Loki, than another Loki?"
Mobius grinned. "Two other Lokis," he declared, and then hit the gas.
