A rewrite of an original Rider Series. A blast from the past, it's a dinosaur themed Rider!
As such, I don't own anything aside from the OC's, plus a few from a friend of mine that will show up in this tale. So sit back, relax, and enjoy folks! HENSHIN!
Chapter 1: Shine! A Prehistoric Hero Reborn!
The scene opened to a world filled with reptilian creatures walking on land and flying in the sky. They came in multiple shapes and sizes, living and occasionally fighting with each other.
"Dinosaurs," A female narrator began, "a race of lizards that dominated our world long before we came to be. These creatures roamed the land, sea, and skies with sheer power. However… a dark fate awaited these giant beings."
Then, the dinosaurs turned to the sky as a humongous meteorite was descending from the sky. A lone Tyrannosaurus roared out in defiance as a flash of light shined out. When the light died, the T. rex was now a fossil on display in a museum being observed by many people with interest.
"These creatures were lost to time, where only their fossils live to tell their tale. And our tale begins here." The Narrator continued as an island city was shown with a big building in the middle. "Kaseki toshi(Fossil City). Beside having one of the best research centers that try to decipher the stories left by the beings that lived millions of years ago, the city itself has been created by a large company known as 'Fossil Foundation,' which runs the city. They made their money examining the very thing that caused the extinction of the dinosaurs..."
The sunlight shown and a change to a scene of scientists examining a portion of a black rock with crystals jutting out.
"Hmm, what could this be?" The scientist asked in wonder. He cracked a piece and inside was what looked to be a crystal that shone brighter than the rest.
The scientist covered his eyes at the blinding light. The light faded, and a few small, crystalline Dinosaurs began crying cutely.
"What the..." The scientist blinked in confusion at this, as the other scientists came over to see the creatures.
"Interesting..." The leading scientist, revealing herself to be the narrator muses. She had blue eyes and hair tied neatly into a ponytail. "We could make use of this."
"What do you mean? What even is this thing?" The scientist asked.
"I believe we've made a discovery." The lead scientists replied. The other scientists stared down at the little dinosaurs, which cried out again.
"With this discovery under the name of the Fossil Foundation came a new beginning for us." The narrator stated. "As well as our downfall…"
KAMEN RIDER KORYU

~Meanwhile~
It was a normal school day at Kaseki Toshi High, as a young boy sleeping on his desk. He has auburn hair, and was wearing a school uniform. His name is Kohtaro Chūsei, and his hobbies include puns and sleeping. Suddenly, a voice spoke out, waking him up.
"Hey big bro… WAKE U~~~P!"
"GAH IM UP IM UP!" The boy startled awake, revealing amber eyes, looking around. He then saw a girl who looked like him but younger. This was his little sister, Niko Chūsei. She was puffing her cheeks and glaring at him.
"Finally." His sister rolled her eyes, "Now come on, you're gonna be late for your club meeting and you know how Charlie gets with that."
"Right right Niko." The boy said yawning as he walked girl walked away and saw in the corridors a boy with purple hair waving to her.
"Hi Skie." They say as they greet him.
Skie Terra, a purple haired mute, smiled at the boy and looked to his best friend, Niko, with a smile. As the trio chatted, in Skie's case hand signed, Kohtaro walked into a nearby classroom.
*BONK!*
He rubbed his head as looked up to who bonked him on the head in pain. The fist came from a tan girl with brown hair holding a camera with the name Matthews taped to the side.
"Mou~ Why do you always have to be late?!" The girl said with a glare.
"Ow why Maria?!" The boy said, rubbing his head.
"Because you're such a Baka." Maria said bluntly.
"Nani?!" The boy shouts before grabbing her cheeks and pulling them. Maria growled in anger, as the two fought comically.
"Kohtaro." A voice said, stopping the two.
"H-hi Charlie." Kohtaro said, letting go of Maria. The boy, Charlie Gold, has blonde hair and blue glasses which glared down at Kohtaro. "Mind telling me why you're late again?"
Kohtaro chuckled nervously, "I was sleeping again."
"I really should have you kicked out you know?" Charlie growled out in frustration.
"But then you'd be missing your bestie." Kohtaro said with a chuckle.
Charlie's left eye twitched and he looked ready to strangle the life out of Kohtaro. Kohtaro chuckled nervously until Charlie felt a hand tug on his shirt and he turned to who it was. It turned out to be a shy girl with big glasses. "D-don't fight please." She said nervously.
Charlie looks at her and eventually sighs, "Alright Lisa. I expect double work from you Koh-san."
Kohtaro nodded before looking at Maria, the two looking away as they got to work.
"Right then," Kohtaro states, "We got a field trip tomorrow right?"
"Yeah, to the museum." Maria said and held up her camera with a grin, "Great chance to get some pics for the paper."
"And l-learn as well." Lisa adds.
"You will be there on time, right Chūsei?" Charlie asked with narrowed eyes.
"Yes sir!"
"I'll believe that when I see it." Maria said bluntly.
"Says the hazelnut muscle-woman." Kohtaro muttered.
"What did you just call me?!" Maria asked in anger, before she strangled and shook Kohtaro comically.
Charlie sighed in annoyance of the two. "Idiots..." he muttered.
"Those two are like an old married couple." Skie signs, to which Niko laughs.
"That's Maria and Big Bro for ya!" Niko laughs.
The next Day, a familiar woman turned to her class as they headed to the museum. She was wearing a decent outfit with her hair tied into a neat bun.
"Alright Students, now you all know me as Mrs. Kaseki," The teacher, Mrs. Kaseki said, gaining her students attention, "I want you all to stick together in your groups as we look at each exhibit."
"Hai~!" The class sang.
Maria was looking around the place, passionately taking as many photos as she can. Lisa looked down in thought before turning to the tan girl.
"H-hey Maria?"
"Yeah Lisa?" Maria said, not taking her attention off of what she was doing.
"Why do you and Koh-san always fight?" Lisa asks. "D-didn't you tell me that you're childhood friends?"
Maria stopped taking photos, looking down a little, "We were, but he's just so immature sometimes! He hasn't grown up a single bit since we were four..."
"T-to be fair, you haven't changed either." Lisa added nervously.
"Huh?" Maria raised her brow.
"Remember? Y-you told me that Kohtaro's the person you-" Lisa said before Maria covered her mouth with a bright red face.
"Keep your voice down!" Maria whispered harshly. Lisa nodded quickly as Maria was shaking her comically.
"But you keep on treating him like that then he will take things the wrong way." Lisa said in a shaky voice, "Also could you stop. I'm getting dizzy!"
"Hmph, that Baka is far too dense to even take it the right way!" She says, crossing her arms. "Boys aren't mind readers you know."
Elsewhere Kohtaro and Charlie watch Miko and Skie as they enter the Prehistoric Rock Exhibit. Charlie noticed that Kohtaro was looking rather down.
"What's the matter Chūsei?" Charlie asked his best friend.
"It's Maria, she's always on my case!" Kohtaro stated. "We used to be good friends though..."
"Well you don't exactly help do you?" Charlie said harshly.
"I really try though."
"All you do is annoy her." Charlie said just as bluntly, to which he comically flinches.
"So blunt!"
"Just tone it down okay?" Charlie rolled his eyes.
"How am I supposed to, when I'm not good with people to begin with?" Kohtaro reasons.
Charlie sighed, "Sometimes you just need to shut up and think before you speak."
"Like how you chew your hanky when you're upset?"
"I told you that in confidence!" Charlie exclaims comically, chewing his handkerchief.
Kohtaro looks down in thought at what his friend had told him, before looking at one of the rocks that had red crystals. For some reason, he felt drawn to it.
Suddenly the museum rumbled, causing everyone to panic as it got stronger.
"Earthquake! Everyone, make for the emergency exits!" Mrs. Kaseki cried out. She pulled out a small briefcase that had a white T-Rex skull on the side.
Most of the students and civilians scrambled to escape, as the rumbling made it difficult to stand. The rumbling stopped, but people were still running in a panic. A few bumped into Mrs. Kaseki, causing the woman to accidentally drop it in the confusion and panic.
The reason for the panic was a monstrous humanoid figure with a hulking body. It was adorned in yellow crystalline bones that resembled triceratops with its long curved horns and shield frill.
"What the heck is that?!" Kohtaro exclaimed.
The monster roared as it began smashing the exhibits in a fit of rage and power. It punched the ground, pulling out a giant boomerang made of wood, stone, and bone before throwing it at multiple exhibits.
"He's destroying the exhibits!" Miko shouts as she pointed at it.
"Less gawking, more running!" Charlie exclaims, as the group tried to avoid the boomerang as well as the beast's powerful roars. As Kohtaro was running, however, he saw his teacher unconscious under some rubble as they ran into the hall.
"Teacher!" Kohtaro shouts to her. The monster turned its head, tossing his boomerang into the scaffolding when it spotted the fleeing students.
"LOOK OUT!" Niko screams as she looks up.
Kohtaro looked up and saw parts of the museum coming down. Thinking quickly, he pushed his friends and sister to safety before jumping back to avoid the debris collapsing, blocking the exit to the exhibit.
"KOH!" Maria, Charlie, and Lisa shouted.
"BIG BRO!" Niko yells as Skie looks in shock. They ran towards the blockage and tried to move it to no avail.
"I'm alright." Kohtaro shouts to them. "Miss Kaseki is still in here, I need to help her out!"
"What?! No, we're not leaving you!" Maria says, banging against the debris.
"There's no time! Get out of here, I'll be right behind you!" Kohtaro retorted as he got up. "Go now!"
"No time to play hero, you baka!" She yelled at him.
"I won't leave her with this monster!"
"Maria, we need to go before this building collapses!" Charlie said urgently. Maria looked at him, then at the debris.
"Dammit…." She said to herself then look at Kohtaro, "I swear to god, you better make it!" She followed Charlie out of the building.
"Big Bro…" Niko mutters before Lisa and Skie help her up and they run towards the exit of the museum.
Kohtaro turned and ran back down the hall towards his teacher and saw the monster still rampaging.
"Gotta distract that monster until I can get to Mrs. Kaseki" he said to himself. He picked up a rock and tossed it. "Hey ugly! Over here!"
It bounced off the creature's back, causing it to turn with a growl. Kohtaro gave a nervous gulp as he readied his plan. "Come on, ya big dummy! Come and get me, stupid!" He taunts the monster.
He gives a roar and charges at Kohtaro, who dove out of the way as it tackled the debris blocking the entryway. Seeing his chance, he rushed over to Mrs. Kaseki who was slowly waking up.
"Kohtaro?" She says groggily, clutching a bleeding head wound.
"Are you ok, teach?" Kohtaro says, moving the debris off her and helping her up.
"You should have left me and escaped while you could." Mrs. Kaseki says.
"I'm not leaving you here. You always said that people should always help others." Kohtaro says as he helps her walk. Suddenly, a loud roar caught the twos attention, as the monster got up and roared loudly swinging his boomerang. The monster tossed it's weapon at the duo, forcing them to jump out of the way. The boomerang hits a wall, causing the museum to shake and the briefcase to open in front of Kohtaro.
"Huh?" He said confused, as he pulled out the contents of the briefcase. It was a belt buckle, with a red and white T. Rex skull connected to what appeared to be some kind of slot that you would normally see at a casino. "A belt buckle?"
A light caught his attention, and he turned to see the rock he saw earlier glowing red and cracking before out came a small, crystal-like T. Rex. His mind hears the roar of the mighty king of the dinosaur as if it is calling to him.
He slowly stood up, wiping blood off his face as he stared down the monster. He held the buckle up in his left hand and then slowly put it over his waist, a tan belt materializing and wrapping around his body.
D-D-DINO DRIVER!
He held out his other hand, and the small crystal T. Rex gave a cute roar then leapt into his hand. The small critter gave one more cute roar before folding up into what looked to be a jeweled dice. Kohtaro stared at the small critter in surprise, accidentally hitting the side of the buckle which caused the Dino Driver's mouth to open.
*ROAR!*
"Eh?" Kohtaro said, confused. He noticed the slot that was on his belt matched his new friend's shape, and curiously inserted it into the slot with a click, to which a light came from the crystal.
FABULOUS!
A ground-shaking tune with a casino beat began to play, as a larger version of the Crystallized T. Rex began dancing to the beat. The three were in shock at what had been happening, as Kohtaro was uncertain of what to do next.
"Now push the lever!" Mrs. Kaseki shouts to him.
"Huh? You mean like this?" Kohtaro said quizzically, looking at the belt. He sees a very small lever on the mouth part and presses his thumb down on it, causing it to close.
GABU!
"Now say Henshin!"
"Henshin?"
The dancing Dino turns to Kohtaro and opens his mouth. The Auburn haired boy looked up, seeing the Dino was going to eat him!
"GYAH! No wait, I'm not food!" Kohtaro waved his hands trying to avoid the dinosaur's mouth. He tripped backwards and screamed as it bit down upon him, large rubies floating around them.
SHINY CARNIVORE! R-R-RUBY REX! FEROCIOUS!
Kohtaro's body and the Rex's began to crystallize before shining brightly. When the light faded, Kohtaro was replaced by a new figure. Clad in a brown bodysuit covered his body, with boots that resembled T. Rex legs with Ruby effects. He also possessed a dinosaur themed chest piece, as Ruby colored gloves covered his hands. Topping off the armor was a brown dinosaur themed helm with ruby compound eyes with brown dinosaur eyebrow like horns. He also has a jagged mouth piece that resembles dinosaur teeth.
"Eh? EH? EEEHHH?!" Kohtaro yelled comically in confusion as he looked at himself. The monster roared at him as it stamped its foot against the ground.
"Watch out!" Mrs. Kaseki called out, causing Kohtaro to turn around to see the monster charging at him like a bull. He screams as he waved his arms comically, before getting plowed like a bug on a windshield.
Kohtaro then grunts loudly as he pushes against the creature and two both of their surprise, he actually stopped the monster's charge.
"Whoa… I think I can stop this guy!" Kohtaro said, as he delivered a punch to the monster's face, sending it reeling back in shock. The monster roared in anger as the two began to fight. The monster would swing its weapon, to which he would dodge his attacks. The two clash and they ran out of the hallway, leaving Mrs. Kaseki alone.
"So that's a Kamen Rider." She said with a smile, picking up the briefcase. "Now lets see if he lives up to the title."
Kohtaro pulled the monster and used his weight to throw the beast out of the building, taking the civilians and rescue units by surprise.
"AAAH! The monster followed us!" Niko exclaimed, but Maria knew something was amiss. Parts of the monster's gemstone armor and body had cracks in them.
They also see the Kamen Rider charging forward against the monster. The civilians pull out their phones and record the fight. The two delivered blows, but the Rider was proving to be stronger and more agile. The Rider blocked the monster's lariat and delivered a punch that sent it skidding back.
"You're done terrorizing, monster." The Rider said, pointing to the monster. Then suddenly, something lands in front of him sticking out of the ground. It was a handle of a sword, the handle was black with a ruby pummel at the end. He looked at it as the monster roared, its crystal armor attaching to the boomerang for one powerful attack.
'If he swings that here!' Kohtaro thought with dread, turning to see his friends. 'No, I need to end this! Here and now!'
The Rider's eyes lit up, as he heard the roar in his head again, instinctively telling him what to do. He grabbed the sword and drew it, revealing the hilt and the blade. It had a rather Casino/Dinosaur theme to it with a roulette wheel as a blade guard and the blade itself being golden with rubies encrusted into the middle of the blade. It also possessed a similar slot to the one he used to transform.
DINO BLADE!
"Whoa!" Kohtaro exclaimed but quickly regained focus as he ran to protect his friends. The monster threw his powered up boomerang, to which Kohtaro slammed his new sword against in a shower of sparks.
His friends are surprised by the arrival of the Kamen Rider, but yet felt a sense of familiarity that they couldn't put their finger on.
"Who are you?" Maria asked, "And why do I feel like you annoy me so much today?"
"Uh…" Kohtaro said, looking down in thought. He then looked up in determination, getting an idea from the shows his sister would watch, "I am just a passing through dinosaur hero. Kamen Rider Koryu!" He roared, slashing the boomerang in half, turning it into yellow gem shards. He put his sword into the ground before pressing the lever on his belt which made the mouth open and close again.
GABU! ROAR-LETTE!
Koryu ran towards the monster, using some nearby debris as a springboard. High in the air, his right leg began to sparkle.
RUBY DINO-MITE!
"Shiny Kick!" Koryu shouts as he comes down in a kicking position. The monster raised its arms in defense, as Koryu delivered a kick directly to its chest. It roared in pain as cracks covered his body, with a yellow light that seeped from the cracks.
With one last shout, the monster exploded in a cloud of yellow smoke as Koryu skidded to a halt on the other side. He turned around and saw in the monster's place was a yellow dice that flew into his hand.
"Monster extinct." Koryu said, before the crowd cheered to which he jumped in surprise. He chuckled sheepishly as the civilians took his picture, before he remembered his teacher was still inside and ran in.
"He saved us." Charlie said in disbelief. Lisa breathed a sigh of relief, as Niko had stars in her eyes.
"Kamen Rider…" Maria said in awe, "Who exactly are you under the mask?"
Watching, from high above the buildings, a mysterious Rider resembling Koryu but darker watched the entire battle unfold.
"So you've been reborn… Kamen Rider Koryu." The Rider said with a dark chuckle. "The Core-Ryu has proven it's worth."
Nearby, a senior student at Kohta's school with brown hair watched part of the battle with his arms crossed. "Did you intend for this to happen doc?" He pondered as a Dino Driver appeared hidden in his bag.
In the crowd, a man with silvery white hair looked at Kohtaro with interest. He walked away from the crowd as a portal appeared in front of him, "Kamen Rider Koryu. An interesting Rider this world has." All traces of him are gone as the portal took him.
