John Phoenix was relaxing on the sands of the shores of the beaches of the town of Tudors. Then he got tired of that so he put his shoes on and walked through the town to get back to the house, but there was one problem, there was SAND in his shoes and they wouldn't go out, not even when he used his psychic powers!

John Phoenix gritted his teeth and growled the whole way back because it was uncomfortable walking like that.

"Goodness, John Phoenix, why are you so angry?" said Susato who was sitting outside.

John Phoenix took off his shoes and put them in front of her.

"Clean them," he said.

"Right away, Mr. John Phoenix."

Susato took the shoes inside and John Phoenix waited. He waited some more. He huffed. He was getting bored. John Phoenix decided to pass the time. He picked up the newspaper Susato had been reading and the headline said "MANFRED VON KARMA ESCAPES FROM HEAVEN AGAIN!"

John Phoenix squinted and read more, apparently Karma had a long-lost son who he abused heavily and wanted to make amends with.

So John Phoenix got in a boat and dropped back to America for a while.

He got out of the boat and walked under a nearby bridge and saw something in the corner.

"JOHN PHOENIX NO!" shouted a familiar blippy voice. He turned and saw Conrad Cross running up to him.

"That sword has a name engraved on it!" said Cross.

"So?" said John Phoenix.

"I can't read it and whenever people say it out loud my mind blocks it out!"

"Then how do you know its a name?"

"Uh... I don't know," said Cross. "But that's why I don't want you to know about it or else people will think I'm crazy so I might get fired or arrested!"

John Phoenix did not think Cross was crazy, in fact he sympathized with the man and wanted to help him. And he knew exactly how to help him because he figured out why Cross couldn't read the name on the sword in 45 seconds.

John Phoenix took the sword and told Cross to accompany him. They got in the boat and went back to Tudors.

"I am now about to solve the hanging mystery from Burden of Proof, what is this sword and why can't Cross see or hear its name?" announced John Phoenix.

Then John Phoenix pointed at Ryunosuke. "Naruhodo, your sword Karuma is missing."

"WHAAAAAAAAAAT!" shouted Ryunosuke because he was right.

"Do not worry. It is RIGHT HERE!" John Phoenix presented the sword. "You see, this sword has a name engraved on it, and it is "Karuma!"

John Phoenix turned to Cross. "That's the name you've been blocking out. But why, you ask? Simple, it is because you are the son of Manfred von Karma! He's a descendant of the Karuma family of prosecutors, you see, so you associate that name with him! Because he abused you so heavily, your mind blocks the name out... it's a subconscious measure to protect yourself!"

Conrad Cross muttered "Karuma..." and then he could finally read the name on the sword.

"Thank you, John Phoenix," said Cross. "You saved me from my fears!"

Just then, an explosion happened and Hendrick Tray appeared!

John Phoenix sighed and got ready to fight once again.
