Thank you for reading my first fic! I love senru very much. Happy senru day in 2021!
Pancakes for 711
Sendoh carefully arranged the iPad just so. He made sure the counter, bowls, ingredients, and his big smiling face were clearly visible. He put on his apron. He hit the "video" link.
"Hi Hiroaki," he began, "I need some help."
Hiroaki grumpily answered the call and immediately put away the box he's holding away from the camera, feeling embarrassed.
" Hey Akira, what help? Uhmm ...but as much as I want to, I think we should talk next time"
stammering.
"am am..doing something!"
"Wait!" In his panic to hold the call, he carelessly revealed the box. Hiroaki's busy mind was disturbed by the box and his outfit, "Wait. Are you cooking? When does cooking became an interest?" Sendoh scratched a cheek, blushing, "Actually... its our anniversary. Rukawa and me." Sendoh said, grinning while scratching his cheek. Hiroaki gape, then laughed. "Mwahaha, how cheesy. Pfft." Sendoh grinned, blushing.
"So, I wanted to make a pancake, but, I dont know how." Hiroaki popped a nerve. "I don't, either. Why don't we try asking the others, instead?" Sendoh agreed. "And who should we call?" Hiroaki and Sendoh contemplated, they wondered if any of team Ryonan would know.
"Hiroaki?"
"Yes."
"Something's burning."
"Don't be ridiculous Sendoh Akira you're not even cooking anything yet..."
Smoke drifted ominously across the iPad screen.
"What the- Akira?! What did you do?!"
"I didn't do anything! It just caught fire!"
"Are you nuts?!"
Akira heard some footsteps approaching the kitchen door..."Hiroaki I think I must drop the call since my darling is coming and I am sure he's going to scold me after messing up the kitchen..." call suddenly dropped and Koshino was left dumbfounded. "Whatever, why don't he buy an instant pancake mix and it's done", he muttered to himself.
Sendoh called Ayako immediately. "Ayako-chan! Please call Kaede and keep him away from our home."
"Oh why?"
Nearing footsteps, panicking. "I'm planning on something special and it's about to be ruined! Please. Please." he cried.
"Oh oh. Okay okay Dropping now."
But Ayako was too late. Sendoh opened the door. "Kaede. Hi." Sendoh greeted, leaning on one doorframe, smiling charmingly as if trying to bewitch the love of his life-but failing to do so. Rukawa grunted as he was led inside. "Your kitchen is a mess." Sendoh sheepishly smiled. "Oh, yeah. I was about to clean it." Rukawa wondered. "Are you making something?" Sendoh blinked, panicking-not wanting to spill the fact that he is indeed trying to make anniversary pancakes. He thought of what to say.
Rukawa eyed the smashed eggs. The still-smouldering bag of self-combusting flour. The broken iPad.
"Where are they?"
"-w-w-what?"
"The pancakes?"
"I haven't started- I mean... /Pancakes?!/ What pancakes?!" he laughed falsely.
"You've been reading pancake recipes for days..."
"Pfft. /No-/"
"You did Akira"
he rolled his eyes and frowned at the mess.
"I'll clean this stuff first and let's have some breakfast outside", as he started picking up the cracked eggs. kaede shrugged.
"K, I'll help or it will get worst if I won't"
Akira smiled helplessly, -heh, how romantic-
"Hey, wwwhhhattt happened to the Ipad?!"
Rukawa turned and found Sendoh frowning "What?"
Sendoh pleaded in praying hands. "Kaede. Let's stay here please! I really want to make pancakes for you. Can you guide me?"
Rukawa paused. "But I don't know how too."
He lifted his head in shock "Eh?"
Determined to make their anniversary pancake, Sendoh Googled the how-tos and soon enough, they're standing in front of the kitchen, preparing. "Pancake mix, egg, 1/4oz of unsalted butter, milk, a teaspoon of sugar, 3/4 cup of warm water, some chocolate chips-and maple syrup." Rukawa read slowly as Sendoh prepares. A few minutes later, Sendoh is slowly whisking the batter in a bowl. "Well, its not that hard, after all." He grinned.
"Then why are there egg shells in the pancake mixture?"
"Uhm-"
Rukawa tutted softly, leaned over, and wiped a stray splash of milk from the counter top. As he leaned in closer, a pleasant little hiccup felt in Sendoh's heart.
"Oh kaede ... please bear with me it's first time" ...he attempted to kiss Kaede in the cheeks but interrupted with a sudden door bell...
-ding dong-
-almost a kiss, akira scratched the back of his nape in regret.
"I'll check who came"
rukawa left and opened the door.
"Hi, Rukawa-kun,
Ayako greeted her with grinning face.
"Hi Rukawa-kun."
Sendoh followed. "Ayako-chan?"
She waved. "Hi Sendoh."
"What brings you here Ayako-senpai." Rukawa asked.
"I heard it's your anniversary so I wanted to suprise you with a homemade pancake I did." She brought out an elegant square box.
"Happy anniversary." Ayako greeted as she opened the box. The two boys looked inside the box and saw the numbers 7 written on the pancake. Sendoh smiled, feeling grateful. "Looks yummy." Rukawa simply nodded in agreement. "Thank you, Ayako-senpai." Ayako smiled. "Sorry for barging in, did I interrupt something?" Sendoh tried his best to maintain his falter-free smile but his mind is having a revolt. 'Yep, you just nuked my moment with Kaede.' Sendoh wondered how to keep Ayako preoccupied.
"Since you're here-" he began, "there's some things that need fixing."
"Fixing?"
"You look handy with a screwdriver."
"Sendoh what are you-?"
"There's-a-lightbulb-in-the-garage-that-needs-changing-why-dont-you-go-and-deal-with-that-instead!" he spurted and shoved Ayako into the garage. He locked the door and dusted his hands. "Okay."
Ayako sighed in disbelief. Why the hell is she going into the garage after all she made a pancake for the two troubled boys for their anniversary and the most annoying part of all is when did she got an interest in fixing a light bulb..she fished out her phone from her pocket and dialed a number to give a call but instead she descided to type a message
-Koi am here at Sendoh-kun's residence , need your help here, as in right now-
Meanwhile,
Koshino is on the way to Sendoh's apartment with grocery bag on his hand.
Dingdong!
'Aargh! Not again!' Sendoh thought and opened the door. Koshino appears and brought up a bag. "Here! These are the right ingredients." Rukawa appeared behind and was displeased by the guest. "Who in the world invited this creature here?"
Koshino invited himself in, putting the plastic atop. "Guys, I brought ingredients!" He said beaming with excitement. "If its for the pancake,we just had one, you can leave now, bye." Sendoh stated. "Er, but I thought you said you wanted to make pancakes…"
Sendoh dropped his voice low. "Not-" he hissed, "with /you/!"
"Oh," Koshino looked unhappy. But then he noted Rukawa standing coldly by the door with his arms tightly folded. "Fine. I can read the atmosphere. Make pancake-love on your own!"
And Koshino left the house without glancing back at all. Just a few steps away he met Mitsui and Miyagi approaching the Sendoh's apartment.
"Hey Koshino", Mistui greeted as their path crossed.
"Oh Hi, going to Sendoh's apartment?", he asked.
"My wife calls." Miyagi said. "She's inside Sendoh's apartment"
Koshino infuriates. '/They invited Ayako-chan but won't let me in?/'
"I heard it's their anniversary." Mitsui abruptly arched an arm around Koshino's neck, face turned red. "Let's barge in and eat!"
The three knocked and as Rukawa opened the door once more, he was more than surprised. "Happy anniversary hotshots!" Mitsui greeted, laughing. Rukawa was about to say something but they all went in. "Hey, anyone seen my wife?" Miyagi muttered.
Sendoh's jaw dropped upon seeing the commotion in the hallway. The team members bustled past the kitchen door heading for the dining table.
"Pancakes for three!" Mitsui called. "Make it snappy, chef!"
"/Edible/ pancakes!" Koshino added, getting rather into it.
Rukawa went to the garage to fetch Ayako.
"Ayako senpai"...as he opened the door he saw Ayako sitting on one corner chuckling while staring at the photos in an old album.
"Hey your husband is here, looking for you!", as he slowly walk closer
Ayako grinned. "Didn't know you're keeping memories of our highschool days?" He shrugged. "Akira's idea. Not mine." She laughed. "No wonder it's in the garage." Meanwhile, the sulking Koshino plotted a revenge 'I'll invite everyone here.' He tapped his phone.
A few minutes later team Ryonan& Shohoku arrived to the horror of the celebratory couple.
"Hey, heard there's a party!"
"Pass the pancakes!"
"Who's up for some games?"
"Nyahaha, the Tensai has arrived!"
Sendoh could only place his palm on top of his face.
"What are these?" Kogure enquired politely, poking at the unidentifiable mess on his plate.
"Those are pancakes," Sendoh answered meekly.
"These are pancakes?" Kogure laughed. "Maybe I can help? I'll make pancakes. You two lovebirds go sneak out the back."
"Okay, I'll get some more plates then", Rukawa left and of course Sendoh followed him. He tried to reach at the top of the cupboard but he stopped when Sendoh held his waist from behind. "Am sorry Kaede, believe me I tried to make our anniversary special but—" Rukawa turned around and cupped his face. "The day hasn't ended yet. What we need to do is to think of how to get rid of these people out of our home."
"How about getting rid of our clothes, first?" Sendoh grinned and winced instantly as he was jabbed on the side. "How about getting back on the pancakes?" Rukawa maneuvered back the issue. "I'll check on Kogure-senpai." Sendoh grinned and walked back towards the kitchen.
They joined Kogure and soon there were plates of soft fluffy pancakes.
As Kogure carried them outside, Sendoh turned at last to Rukawa.
"Do not move!" he declared. "This time I'm finally gonna make the best pancakes you've ever eaten!"
Rukawa raised one brow, suspicious. "Seriously Akira?! Well I've been surprised the whole day, the messy kitchen, you broke the ipad, we got sudden visitors now best panca- was cut by a sudden kiss, warm and passionate.
"Quickie?" Sendoh smirked playfully, then bent his head to the laundry room. Rukawa lightly punched him. "Idiot."
"Now, how can we lose them?" Sendoh asked. Rukawa paused then crumpled a paper and opened the stove. "We don't have books right?"
"Ten minutes." Glare. "Okay, five." Glare. "We'll do it fast—" Sendoh sweatdropped & sigh. "Hey, where the heck did you two went off? Come join us here." Mitsui hollered. Sendoh simply scratched his head& chuckled. 'Damn, I'm really this close…argh!'
/Well, he decided, /Desperate times./
He hauled Rukawa into the laundry room, and shut the door.
"Akira?! What-"
"Shhh!" Sendoh held him tightly, and lay his head softly on Rukawa's shoulder. "Let me hold you. Just for a minute. Please."
Slowly Rukawa lifted his arms and return the embrace. " This will do for now", he said softly. Sendoh smiled and he knows he fell inlove again. As they parted from the embrace Kaede planted a chaste kiss on Akira's lips.
"Now let's throw this people out." Rukawa stormed back in the kitchen. He lit the long crumpled newspaper then towered closer to the fire sprinklers. "Be gone idiots." "Wait Kaede! Our TV and your PS5!" "Eh?" But it's too late.
"What the actual fuck?!" Mitsui cursed and soon enough everyone started darting in all directions as they all got soaked. "Everything's wet now, Akira." Sendoh smirked in amusement and Rukawa wished he didn't have to say that aloud. "You should have told me, you liked it wet and wild my dear…"
Sendoh grasped Rukawa's hand, spun him quickly around and dragged him into an embrace. Water dripped from his fringe, running into his eyes. He gave a devilish smile.
"Well, it's certainly a memorable anniversary," Rukawa murmured with a small smirk.
It was , it was their time to be alone together. They remain still holding each other a little longer, but reality sinks in. They parted and look around. "Kaede, it's time to clean up the mess and you know... we need the pancakes before the day ends."
But Rukawa held his wet shirt. "Later. I feel like I prefer to enjoy my 'hotcake' instead of some dull pancake."
A wide smirk. "Is Mr. Rukawa Kaede seducing 'Mr. Hotcake' here?"
Sendoh planted a chaste kiss on Rukawa. "As much as I want to be your hotcake, the house is one giant mess." Rukawa scoff but nodded. Soon after, the two were almost done tidying up. It was almost evening. "Pancakes for dinner?" Sendoh chirped.
Rukawa took his hand and silently led him to the kitchen. Sendoh was amazed to see that a plate of pancakes was already waiting for him.
"When did you do this?!"
"They're lemon flavoured," Rukawa explained. "Special just for you."
It took no time for Sendoh to devour all the lemon pancakes. His eyes were warm, he can't helped but smile inwardly. He recalled the past, how they met, started dating, became together after a few months and live together.
Sendoh caught him dazing. "What's up?" He sliced a piece and picked it with a fork. He moved it to Rukawa to feed it to him. "You're looking at me like you've fallen in love with me all over again."
Rukawa looked down for a moment and up again. "You inspire me to become a better person, thank you for everything." Sendoh gape a bit, then scoffed lightly, brushing his thumb on Rukawa's cheek. "You know I love you more than these pancakes, right…" Rukawa snorted, Sendoh chuckled.
"Lucky for me," Rukawa said. "You're better in the bedroom than the kitchen."
"Oh ho ho!" Sendoh stood up. "Is that an invitation?"
Rukawa cast him a teasing look as he headed for the staircase. "Bring the syrup."
