A new school day begins at U.A. High. It had been a few days after the U.S.J. incident and mostly everyone had calmed down to a level of functionality.
"Where's Aizawa-sensei?" Young Izuku Midoriya asked as he sat in his assigned seat. A young woman with a ponytail shook her head,
"I'm not too sure, Izuku. Probably late. There may have been a school meeting early." The girl looked at the door as Aizawa and a young man walked in. Expect the young man was crawling on the ceiling almost like a spider. The class freaked out at the young man, "Aizawa-sensei! Look out!" She yelled. Aizawa looked up at the ceiling and gave a small itty-bitty smile at the boy.
"Oh don't worry, Yaoyorozu. That's just Ichigeki. He's going to be joining our class. He prefers climbing on ceilings than walking." Aizawa replied with small chuckle.
"Having spider powers has its benefits, ya know?" The boy said before slowly descending down a thin strip of spider-web looking wire. That's when the class got a better look at him. His muscles were surprisingly big for his stature and he had six cuts on his uniform. He landed hard on the ground. He held his knee as he stood up.
"Who the hell is he and why is he here? He's a freak!" A young man named Bakugo yelled from the back of the room.
"Alright Mr. Spike! You want to go?!" Ichigeki said as he got into a relatively funny fighting position, almost looking stupid while doing it. Everyone laughed at him except for Bakugo.
"Oh shut it, Arachnid-boy! You ain't nothing to m-" Bakugo was interrupted when webbing covered his mouth, shutting it tightly. He tried ripping it off but to no avail.
"That'll shut the human equivalent of salt up. Anyways, back to introductions. My name is Ichigeki Otokumo and my quirk is Spider. Basically, I'm a mutant in a way." Ichigeki said to the class with a bow. Some of his classmates waved and the girl Aizawa addressed as Yaoyorozu could only blush at him. A young man with purple balls on his head was obviously jealous as some of the other girls blushed a bit too.
"Would you like a seat, Ichigeki? I can grab a spare one for you." A young man with gold hair named Denki Kaminari said. Ichigeki shook his head.
"No thank you, my friend. You need not waste energy on me. I have my own chair." He said. The class seemed confused but Ichigeki put his finger up. "Sprout..." He said quietly and from the scars erupted metal spider legs. The class was amazed by this, staring in awe at the creation before them. The legs moved forward, clinking on the ground quietly. He moved and stopped next to Yaoyorozu and smiled. He put his hand out, "Nice to meet you, miss. What is your name?"
"M... My name? It's Momo... Momo Yaoyorozu... Nice to meet you..." Momo said in a very flustered voice. Ichigeki smiled brightly and allowed the spider legs to hold his weight.
"Alright everyone. As you may or may not know... The annual Sports Festival is coming up. I want you all to prepare the best you can and work hard to do your best." Aizawa said.
Later that day after school
Ichigeki was sitting down outside by the school, eating something from his bag. He hadn't eaten lunch that day and was relatively hungry. Some people paid no mind to him while some looked at him like the never seen him before. He noticed a young boy walk over to him.
"Hey, I'm Izuku Midoriya. I'm one of your classmates." Izuku said, sitting down next to Ichigeki. Ichigeki looked over at him and swallowed a bite of his sandwich.
"Nice to meet you, Izuku. You can call me Ichi if you'd like." Ichigeki replied kindly. Izuku looked at his body.
"You definitely look older than all of us, you know. And why are your muscles so pronounced. They're bigger than mine and your relatively skinny." Izuku started to mumble under his breath.
"To put it simply, my quirk gives me the attributes of a spider. When my quirk manifested, I hadn't noticed until I woke up that next day. I could see perfectly, I didn't need glasses. And when I got picked on at school, a kid through a punch at me and instead of cowering I dodged the punch with such speed that they couldn't register the punch that connected with their face. They called me a freak because of my quirk and... The only person who was there for me was my mother..." Ichigeki slumped into his knees. Izuku looked at him worriedly.
"Did something happen to her? Is that why you seem upset about your mother?" Ichigeki sadly nodded.
"Let's take a walk, Izuku... I feel like I can trust you... As weird as it may seem." Ichigeki stood up and put his sandwich back into it's ziplock bag. He started to walk and Izuku caught up to him. "You see, Izuku. I... really haven't had the best life. I haven't seen my father or older sister in a decade, and... My... Mother has been dead for about two years. And... No matter what I try no matter who I ask, I can't find the bastard who killed her. That's why I want to be a hero. I don't want anybody else dying when I try to protect them." Ichigeki told Izuku. They walked until they reached a small pond. It's water glistened and gleamed, which made Ichigeki smile. He picked up a rock and skipped it across the water.
"How did you do that?" Izuku asked, looking up at Ichigeki. Ichigeki picked up a flat rock and tossed it to Izuku.
"Just flick your wrist downward. Watch..." Ichigeki flung the rock and it skipped all the way across the pond and hit someone on the other side. He chuckled. "I think I overdid it a tiny bit." Izuku seemed impressed.
"Woah! You've got an arm! Is that from your quirk?" Izuku smiled brightly. Ichigeki smiled back and watched as Izuku tried to skip a rock, failing badly. After what seemed like 10 minutes, Izuku finally got the rock to skip.
"That's it, Izuku. Great job." Ichigeki said and started to leave with Izuku. They walked to Izuku's apartment and said goodbye to each other. They went their seperate ways and went home. Ichigeki continued to walk until he went into a store, where he was held at gunpoint.
"Don't do anything funky, kid! If you do, a bullet with go through your skull, got it?!" One of the burglars said. Ichigeki looked at him and grabbed the gun with immense speed, barely allowing the guy to react. The other burglars shot at his back, but Ichigeki reacted quickly. He hopped onto the ceiling and shot webbing at the other burglars. He pulled the guns out of their hands and started to get into a fist fight with them. One pulled out a knife and started to slash at Ichigeki. Ichigeki backflip kicked the knife out of the guys hand and wrapped him in webbing. He fought the other two guys until someone ran into the store. The person ran up to one of the guys and knocked him out. Ichigeki was overpowering the last one and started to crawl all over their body to wrap them in as much webbing as he could produce.
Ichigeki wasn't the least bit injured and grabbed the stuff he wanted from the store, almost like he didn't care about what he just did.
"Hey, kid!" The person said. Ichigeki looked from behind a shelf of food. The person walked over to him and grabbed him by the collar, "What the hell do you think you're doing?! Let the professionals handle it! You're just a kid! You could've gotten yourself killed!"
"Chill out, old man. I did what I had to. I don't care if I would've died. I couldn't bring myself to let them go." Ichigeki replied in a quiet voice. The man sighed and let go,
"You're lucky your quirk isn't a shit show. Now buy your shit and get out." The man said before leaving the store. Ichigeki bought his stuff and left.
A few days later
After his incident at the store, Ichigeki was training on his free day. The Sports Festival was in what felt like a few days and he was pushing himself harder than he ever had. He was carrying a car on his back down the road. There was obvious pain on his face from the amount of weight but he kept on carrying it. People walking by looked at him like he was a freakshow.
"I need.. To push myself... Farther than I ever have... I... Need to win that tournament..." He said to himself as he picked up the pace, "I need to prove..." He started to jog, "That I can be worthy of the name Otokumo!" With one last yell he started to run with the car on his back. He ran from his house to the only place he could think of that had a track. The U.A. Grounds. He carried the car all the way to the school and saw a young man already on the track. He there were flames coming out of what seemed to be exhaust pipes on his calves. Ichigeki set the car down gently and walked over to him. The guy noticed him and he slid to a stop.
"Good evening, Ichigeki. Are you here to train as well?" The boy asked and grabbed a bottle on the ground nearby.
"Naw. I just came by to use the track a bit. I was gonna carry a car but my back feels broken. Hey, you got a spare bottle, Tenya? I'm a bit thirsty." Ichigeki asked politely. Tenya nodded,
"Always do. Oh, do you like orange juice? Just double checking." He asked and tossed him a bottle. Ichigeki caught it and drank from the bottle,
"Yeah... It's good stuff. Don't drink it much but I do like it." Ichigeki threw the bottle into the air and webbed it to the school's wall.
"You know, I haven't seen too much of your quirk... All I have seen is crawling, shooting webs, and those iron spider legs. Did you make those, by the way?" Tenya asked and put the bottle down.
"Actually yes, I did. Built them when I was 14. Took me months to build them." Ichigeki replied. "Basically, I have the attributes of a spider. I can lift 25 times my body weight, run at nearly 25 miles per hour, can sense danger, climb walls. Oh, but I made the webbing myself... Quite easy to make them." Ichigeki clicked a button and a wristwatch popped off. He picked it up and passed it to Tenya. Tenya examined it and seemed amazed,
"I'm astonished... These things seem to be very very high tech... And your quirk seems pretty strong... But, why don't you look like a spider?" He said as Ichigeki jogged around the track. Ichigeki looked over at him,
"Don't know... All I know is that I'm sort of like a spider but not really a spider." Tenya started to run and jogged beside him. He gave back the web shooters and Ichigeki put them back on. They jogged around the track and chatted a bit about themselves.
"You've had a lived one get hurt too, huh?" Tenya said as they jogged. Ichigeki nodded sadly.
"Yeah... Been hunting the bastard who killed my mother for years and haven't found him." Ichigeki replied. Tenya looked down but kept his head up.
"Don't worry... The person who hurt your mother will pay one day... Same with the one who hurt my brother." Tenya said and clenched his fist. Ichigeki smiled.
"We're on the same boat then. Why don't we find them together, eh?" Ichigeki said with a hint of conviction. Tenya shook his head,
"I can't... My brother wouldn't like it... But, I feel like I need to... I feel like it's my duty... It's my responsibility..."
"I relate to that... Well, let's have a race before we go. I'll buy dinner sometime, alright?" Ichigeki asked. Tenya nodded and ran off. Ichigeki seemed surprised and tried to keep up. He eventually did but Tenya had already won the race. "Damn, you're fast... I shouldn't be surprised..."
"That was a good race, Ichigeki. Maybe after the festival we and the class can go out to dinner. We'll pay, how about that?" Tenya suggested and put his hand out. Ichigeki shook his hand in agreement and left with a wave.
