***So..when I orginially thought up this prompt...I couldn't decide between just doing a complete one-shot of that one ending between Audrey and Nathan in "Lay Me Down"...or just doing a one-shot where it is after they did it and Audrey is questioning him again about how he got that bruise on his hand...which leads to him telling about what really occurred in his "school" dream. However...since I couldn't get both of those two scenes out of my mind...I decided to incorporate them both into this story.***
**I figure that the way I might spin this story in a way that will be easier for me to lay out the love scene between Audrey and Nathan...is that for the start of the story...I will be more or less going by the dialogue from the scene...along with both of their running thoughts...then after I get to the part about Nathan professing his undying love for her and then immediately doesn't waste anytime drawing her into a passionate heart stopping kiss...after that point I will begin to get creative as possible to describe what he is doing to her. I will do my best to make this the smokiest one-shot ever.**

"You don't know hard it has been for me!" Nathan practically yells in frustration, as he fights to keep his temper from blowing through the roof, as he was trying to figure out what place that they were at in their relationship.
They had just got home from the hospital where they had taken a young troubled woman, whose trouble had skyrocketed into attacking other people like him in their sleep, to get checked out by a docter after they were able to get her to conquer her fear in her dream.
The dream trouble had gotten him as well as both Dwight and Duke...but he supposed that the injuries that he had recieved in the dream were minor compared to the major one Dwight suffered. To be completely honest, he wasn't the least surprised to find out he was dreaming about Audrey, since ever since he found out he could feel her he would have some pretty revealing dreams of him and her at night. But they only began to become intense where he was having recurring dreams where he is naked in a school makeshift classroom in the middle of the station...where he had Audrey acting as his teacher. She would always ask him the same question that was written on the chalkboard...which was "Who do you love?".
He knew that answer to the question...but it was almost like his voice was paralyzed from speaking out the answer that he knew in his heart to be true...that he loved and was in love with Audrey Parker. Though...question was...how come he couldn't fucking man up and tell her how he felt about her? She told him that she loved him...so why the fuck couldn't he be a man and say it back.
He had only planned on just dropping her off at her apartment above the Grey Gull...but lately the unbearable tension growing between them was soon brewing too much for him to handle...as he suddenly found himself stepping in after her as she turns around to look at him with genuine confused etched across her face.
Which why he found himself making that unfair statement towards her in frustration and anger laced in his voice, watching as her face switched from genuine confusion to a mixture of anger and hurt, as he watched her take in the meaning behind his words and how she couldn't keep the next words from coming out of her mouth towards him.
"For you..." Audrey began, disbelief and anger laced in her words as she couldn't believe that he would bring that shit up, especially when he knew damn well that she had been trying to figure out her true identity since the moment she came to Haven. She doesn't give him a moment to say anything back towards her as she continues, "...at least you know what you are...at least you know who you are!"
"Well...I want to know what we are!" Nathan exclaims just as Audrey finishes her sentence, all the while taking a bold step forward towards her, before moving back to where he was.
Audrey understood full well what Nathan meant by that statement as she herself had pondered that same question more times than she could be able to count, but she knew that as much as she would have loved to oblige in giving herself fully to him, she knew that taking that plunge into a relationship where things were still so tense between them was NOT an option at the moment. She didn't want to hurt Nathan but she also knew that she HAD to say this in order to make it clear to Nathan that starting a relationship during a time when she needs to protect him the most, it is only then that she realizes that she is beginning to do the same thing that was almost tearing them apart during an opportunity where they could shut out the problems of the world and just be with each other. It was only then that she realized that she was starting to push him away right when they needed to talk to each other most, but somehow like before, she couldn't bring herself to stop.
"Too much has happened...Nathan...we can't be Audrey and Nathan...not anymore. We work together and that's it." Audrey stated, fighting back the hot tears that were now forming in her eyes, as she looked for a response from Nathan in his face.
"Fine...see you at work..." Nathan stated curtly, as he quickly stormed out of her apartment, slamming the door on his way out.
Nathan was halfway towards the steps and was on his way towards his Bronco when he felt himself stop and think for a moment as he viewed his possible options of what he could do right now.
'What the fuck am I doing right now...why of all times am I not trying to fight for us?! If I have learned anything from that dream I had today is that I need to go back and change her mind about us...tell her what she had been waiting to hear from my lips for a while now...that I love her. She needs to know that I love her as much as she loves me.' Nathan thought, as he remained stopped on her deck for a while before making the quick decision to go back inside and make a last ditch effort of fighting for them.
He watches as she glances back up to look at him walking back inside the apartment and he sees her eyes glistening with unshed tears and part of him felt guilty, feeling that he was the main part of the reason that she wanted to cry. Which is why he doesn't wait that long to say what he needed to say and do what he felt he needed to do, so he looks at her directly in the eye and prepares what he is about to say to her.
"I don't care who you are or what you are..." he pauses for a minute to see her glance up from where she had been staring at the floor to look directly at him with an expression that he couldn't even comphrend, but it didn't deter him from saying the three words that he knew that she needed to hear most from him, "...I love you."
Audrey freezes in place as soon as his last three words begins to quickly register to her emotional filled mind as she looks up towards his face where she sees that he is smiling and she sees that he is serious, and despite her best efforts to keep herself from crying, she can feel a lone tear slide down from her eye at his words.
With a sense of love and bravery, Nathan walked quickly in her direction and before she could get a chance to utter a word back to him, he had already closed the gap between his and her mouth. Kissing her and cupping both sides of her face with his hands as he silently marveled in the feeling of her soft smooth skin against his rough hands, and couldn't help but think that he would never grow tired of the feeling of her skin on his hands. It was almost like the feeling of the first time she kissed him on the cheek after Jess had left, it felt like an adrenline rush whenever he felt the touch of Audrey and he was certain that he would never get tired of feeling that way.
The moment she felt the feeling of his lips pressing against her lips and the simultaneous feeling of both of his hands cupping the sides of her face lovingly, she immediately responded with as much passion and love that he was showing her, as she moved her arm to wrap around the bare skin of his neck. "What were the answer choices?" Audrey asked, suddenly having an odd feeling about what his answer may be.
"A.) Audrey Parker,B.) Sarah Vernon, C.) Lucy Ripley, D.) All of the above and E.) None of the above." He answers as if reciting it from memory.
"Why would I hurt you like that in your dream...that doesn't make any sense." Audrey stated, a little puzzled by what he described to her.
"That wasn't the only thing you did..." Nathan trails off, immediately getting her attention back to him.
"What else did I do to you?" Audrey asked, curious.
"You did what teachers and principals used to do towards kids whenever they stepped out of line back then in school." Nathan replied, pretty sure that his face is beet red with embarrassment.

"Not exactly...though believe me I wish that were possible...though given the fact that I can be able to feel your touch...I am blessed with being able to know two things...for one thing...I am able to know whether or not you are you and are not some other thing that knocked you out or killed you." Nathan replied, hand returning to play with her hair.
"What does that mean?" Audrey asked, her eyes closing at the soft and warm touches of his fingers in her hair.
"It means that was how I knew that you had been taken over by the chameleon on the day of your birthday party that time at Carpenters Knot...I had discovered not that long before that I was able to feel your touch after you had kissed me on the cheek after Jess had left me...and when I tried to touch the chameleon who was acting as you...I couldn't feel anything from her...not even when I kissed her. So that was when I knew instantly that you were the chameleon and I shot the thing and when it asked me how I knew...I leaned down so only it could hear me and said 'Audrey...I can feel her touch. I can't feel yours.'" Nathan stated, looking down to see her glancing up at him with a interested expression, smiling as she warmly places her hand over his heart.
"So that was why I woke up to you crying and being touchy feely and kissy with my hands...if I had known then that was why you were being emotional...then I would have found it endearing." Audrey stated, realization dawning on her before adding, "...and probably why I had to touch your hand in order to make you realize that I hadn't been killed and bodysnatched by my demented daughter in law."
Nathan feels more than watches as Audrey physically shudders slightly at the memory of Arla Cogan before tensing up as the memory of Arla Cogan brings back memories of their son, James Cogan, a topic that neither one of them brought up in the short time that Nathan was told that Lexie DeWitt was an act by Audrey. Though he wasn't sure if Audrey was ready to talk about James as much as he was ready to talk about the son that he had barely known but knew that he had loved his son immediately after finding out that it was definitely his son and he knew that Audrey had adored James as well. But he knew that as much as the topic of James wasn't an easy topic to think or talk about, he also knew that it wouldn't be healthy for them to avoid the subject of James, considering the fact that he pretty much blamed himself for them losing James.
"James's death wasn't your fault Nathan, so quit trying to blame yourself over it because I don't blame you for it, James's death was an accident." Audrey replied soothingly, as she could tell this had been eating away at him for a while.
"Yeah...but I did shoot the being that operated the facility that was supposed to make our son better...that was supposed to bring him back to life in another twenty-seven years." Nathan replied, guilt lacing itself into his voice before continuing, "...and because of my screw up...the town hates me and the guard wants me dead...all because I fell in love with you and couldn't let you go...which was why I made Duke jump into the barn after you when the barn was starting to implode on itself."
"Duke told me all about that..." Audrey stated as she look up at him with a look that made him afriad to speak, "...and he also told me what you were doing when he found you...what the actual fuck were you thinking letting those fucking bikers beat you for money!?"
"I didn't know what to do...you and Duke were gone and the guard wanted to kill me as they practically ran me out of town...and I had to find some way of sustaining myself until Duke came along." Nathan stated calmly, while putting his hands up in defense as she gave a sharp worried glare.
"So...you thought that using your affliction to finance yourself would be the okay thing to do?" Audrey stated, as she waited for his answer.
"Like I said...I didn't know what to do and besides Duke stopped it before things got brutal and practically had to talk me into coming back to Haven with him...I refused at first until he told me about Jennifer and her trouble...that she was able to hear you from inside the barn and had the possiblity of getting you out of there and back to me...so having no other plan to get you out of the barn I agreed quickly...and you basically know the rest of the story." Nathan explained, in an effort to get her to soften the glare on her face, which he eventually does as she calms down a bit.
"Yeah...waking up in a field with you as we were surrounded by Jordan and the guard armed with guns aimed at us before being told by you that I had to kill you to end the trouble because that was what Jennifer heard Agent Howard tell me from inside the barn. Can you kind of understand why I had decided to hide behind the new identity that the barn had given me? It was to get the guard to back the hell off so that I could protect you and figure out what to do next and as you could tell I wasn't able to keep it a secret from Duke because he pretty much figured it out on his own and tried to get me to tell you that I was really Audrey, because I think he cares about your mental and physical health and wanted you to quit moping but I refused because I knew if the guard found out about it that they would force me to shoot you..." Audrey spat out before quickly adding, "...and since when have you and Duke been getting along?"
"Since he came back from the being in the barn...you did kind of make us promise to take care of each other. I thought you wanted us to start getting along with each other..." Nathan replied, with a chuckle.
"I do and I am glad that you both are finally not trying to kill each other...but weirdly I kind of missed seeing you two bicker." Audrey replied, with a smile on her face.
"I think Duke and I are getting along because we know that with the way the troubles are going...it is better to get along than waste precious time trying to kill each other." Nathan pointed out, tightening his hold on her as she laid her head back down on his chest.
"Good point." Audrey stated.
Audrey and Nathan lay still and quiet as they held each other for a while just relishing in the feel of one another in each others arms, when Audrey is bothered by another thought that has come across her mind.
"What is the other thing about you being able to feel me?" Audrey asked, her face pressed into his chest, giggling as she heard him take a sharp intake of breath at the feeling.
"That I can tell who is near me just by your touch...I can tell if you are near me." Nathan replied, snuggling her close to him and she pondered that thought for a moment.
"Awww Nathan...sweet sweet Nathan...what did I do to deserve you?" Audrey replied with a smile on her face.
"Oh I don't know...I guess I am just a hunk who caught your eye..." Nathan stated, slyly even as he felt her punch his arm lightly at that comment as he felt her smirk after he utters, "Ow...what was that for?"
"I am just reminding you that not only can you feel touches of pleasures from my body...but you can also feel pain inflicted on you by me." She stated with a smirk as a yawn crept up on her.
"Okay...remind me not to ever piss you off again..." Nathan trailed off, as he felt her relax into him with her eyes closed.
"That is a good reminder to follow...Nathan...but I have a feeling you will make me mad without meaning to...so don't put pressure on yourself." Audrey stated, with her eyes still closed.
Nathan thought about that for a moment as he felt and heard Audrey's breathing slightly change and realized that she had fallen asleep and wanting to follow suit, Nathan pressed a kiss to Audrey and smiling as he heard murmur something and snuggle even closer into his side as he too closed his eyes.
"Goodnight Audrey..." Nathan breathed out, as he relaxed for the first time since getting her back from the barn and finally in his arms where she belonged in bed.
"Goodnight Nathan..." Audrey murmered, her face moving to hide into his chest.
Things between them between them were fine for now as they knew they would need to talk more about the other problems between them, but those would have to wait until later because now that he finally had her back and that they were finally together in the way that they both wanted, he sure as hell wasn't willingly to let her go away from him this time.
