The main reason I wrote this story is for people who hated the ending to the Divergent Trilogy. I recently read We Can Be Mended. If you haven't read it yet, please take my advice: NEVER DO. It completely ruined the series for me, so I pretend it, Allegiant, and Insurgent didn't happen.

Divergent was really the only one I liked.

It kept bothering me, because I really loved the Divergent Series, so I decided to make my own ending, where the attack on Abnegation never happened, sort of as a replacement for Insurgent and Allegiant.

If you liked We Can Be Mended, I respect your opinion, but cannot say I liked it myself.

Anyways, I hope you like this story. Please review!

My laughter echoed through the underground tunnels of the dauntless compound.

"Tobias! Give me back my cake or I swear I'll...!"

"Did someone say CAKE!" Uriah popped up next to me, but I don't flinch. This is what Dauntless training has done to me.

I roll me eyes.

"This obsession you have with sugary bread is unhealthy. Quite literally."

Tobias walked back towards me, holding my plate of cake. Smiling, he handed it back to me.

"I made sure it wasn't injured." He said, clearly trying to hold back laughter.

"That was nice of you." Christina said, walking up hand in hand with Will behind him.

I snorted. "Yeah right. He did it because he knew if he damaged my cake he would be sleeping on the couch tonight."

Uriah laughed. "And you say I have an obsession with cake?"

"You do. Besides, I haven't had any since some idiot decided to blow up the kitchen ovens!"

"It was an accident! And I was using them for a good reason!"

"You were using them to try and make Dauntless Cake because there wasn't any left." Tobias cut in.

"What better reason is there? It wasn't my fault all the cake was gone!"

"It was, actually." Will said. "You and Zeke ate it all."

"Haha! Not entirely my fault then!"

I yawned. "Give it up, Uriah. This is one fight you won't win." I turned to Tobias. "I'm going to go back to our place."

"I'll come with you."

I woke up far earlier than I would like.

"Tobias." I whispered. "We need to get up."

He let out a grumble of protest.

"Tobias Eaton!" I said sternly. "You are a leader of Dauntless, as well as a trainer, and you have responsibilities! Its choosing day today!"

Me and Tobias, along with Tori, Bud, and Harrison, were made leaders of Dauntless.

When I asked Caleb to look into the serum, he found out Erudite's plans and sent them to the other faction leaders.

Jeanine, her Erudite accomplices, and the whole of Dauntless leadership were arrested for their crimes, and we were elected the new leaders.

Tobias still wanted to train the initiates, and I joined him, so we were extra busy with two jobs.

We had only been leaders for a week now, and today was also our first meeting day with the other leaders.

I didn't mention this to Tobias because I didn't want to remind him he would have to see Marcus.

When Tobias still didn't get up, I resorted to dumping a bucket of ice-cold water on his head.

Needles to say, he was up very fast after that.

A blue-clad girl was the first to be caught by the wide net.

I pulled it down so she could get off, smiling at her. "What's your name?"

She looked at me, hair tousled by the fall, and hesitated.

"You can pick a new one if you want." I copy what Tobias said to me when I fell. "But you can only choose once."

After a few moments of thought, she said "Ash."

I turned around. "First Jumper Ash!"

Loud cheers erupted from the sea of black that was formerly hidden in shadows.

The second jumper fell screaming into the net, quickly followed by the third and fourth. After the last jumper came down, Tobias landed in the net.

"That's all of them." He said.

There wasn't anything unusual about the initiates.

No Divergents this year, Tori had reported.

The first act as leaders we made was to stop Divergent hunting.

If you were Divergent, you were given a test to find out which one of the factions you fitted in the most, even if you didn't fit in completely.

We also made it so you were allowed to switch to a different faction if Dauntless didn't work out for you. We gave the factionless the option of either rejoining the faction of their choice, or going to one of the shelters we had started construction on.

We got rid of the rule that only the top ten could stay in Dauntless. We do not make members over 70 die or become factionless.

Me and Tobias also made training less about brute force, and more about strategy and bravery.

The schedule is as follows:

INITIATE TRAINING LASTS ONE MONTH, EACH WEEK A DIFFERENT ACTIVITY YOU WILL BE SCORED ON

WEEK 1: Fighting each other in fair pairings. Pairings are judged by height and size. Each opponent is allowed to concede at any time. This teaches the value of being able to defend yourself, and attack others when necessary.

WEEK 2: Different combat games to teach the value of teamwork and strategy.

WEEK 3: Obstacle Courses, with varying amounts of difficulty, to show the value of persistence and determination.

WEEK 4: Fear Simulations, where you must face your worst fears. This shows the value of bravery.

SCORES AT THE END OF INITIATION DETERMINE YOUR JOB IN DAUNTLESS
