Prologue, Act 1: A Skeleton, A Traveler and the Winds of Old.

AN: May need some familiarity with Overlord. Things like spells and the characters. I'll try my best to describe them, but look them up if I do a horrible job. I'm also horrible at describing people or objects in general. Also I'm a mediocre writer at best, so don't expect the highest quality. Hope you enjoy.

"What is this thing?" A voice could be heard, but it was an unfamiliar one. "Maybe we should leave it be. If it wakes up, who knows what it will do."

If I wake up? I'm I even asleep? When did this happen? Why can't I remember anything?

I then sat up in seconds and a yelp could be heard next to me. My vision finally came to me. Allowing me to take in the scenery all around me. It seemed I was on a beach of some sort.

He then saw two creatures staring at him. One with a calm and wary look with blonde hair. His clothes were mostly dark brown with gold and white. He also wore a white and gold cape.

While the smaller floating one was visibly shocked. Or maybe it was fear. He couldn't tell in the slightest. It had pure white hair and white long sleeved shirt with rose gold embroidery. She also wore a cape, but it looked to be designed after the starry night sky.

The grounded one tried walking closer, but the floating creature warned him not too and wanted to leave. However, the blonde boy ignored the pleas of the floating thing.

The boy kneeled next to me while saying "Who are you?" I could only respond with "Ainz Ooal Gown" almost like it was an instinct, but why was that the only thing I could remember?

"My name is Aether. I was unsure what you were so I decided to check. I'm glad I did." Ainz looked at Aether and examined him. From his perspective, Aether was dressed very exotically and was elegant? Was that the word? Probably not.

He shook his head and pointed in the direction of the floating creature. He then said "What is that?"

The thing seemed to look aggravated and said "I'm not a thing!" Aether just smiled slightly at the comment and said "This is Paimon."

Paimon? Aether? What peculiar names. Come to think of it. They didn't have a name like him. Just a singular name, but nothing after. Why was that?

Paimon then said "What are you exactly? I have never seen something like you before. Not to mention you're in such nice garments and accessories. Ohhhh, are you perhaps an undead royal lineage from ancient times?"

Undead? What is that supposed to mean? Does that mean I'm not alive, then how do I talk and see?

Ainz just shrugged my shoulders and said "I don't know. I can only remember my name."

Aether then said "Then how about you join us. I was just about to tell Paimon a story about how I came to Teyvat."

Teyvat? Is that the land I have found myself in? Not to mention these people, while suspicious at first. They seem like a reliable pair. Also I have no idea where I am. With no memory and directions. I would undoubtedly get lost forever in this land.

"Sure I would like to join you two." Ainz said. Aether then nodded and grabbed a small branch from the beach. He sat on a rock and told a story I would be sure to remember

I was traveling from world to world. Me and my sister came across Teyvat, but it was swallowed in chaos so we left as quickly as we came. However, on our way out. An unknown god stopped us in our tracks. She took my only kin and left me trapped with none of my powers. I don't know how long it has been, but I will find her. I have to find her…

Losing family for some reason made him feel so emotional. Hearing his story made him grow sorrow until a green aura washed his grief away. It made him think, did he lose a loved one in his past.

"Aww, I'm sure we will find your sister eventually and Paimon will help you. Paimon does owe you for saving me with your fishing rod. So Paimon will try to be the best guide possible!" Aether's face showed a faint smile at the uplifting words. However Ainz would not let them do it by themselves.

As he stood up, Ainz said "I too will help you find your lost sibling. Losing family, it must be awful. Perhaps along the way I will also find my own answers."

Paimon shook her head in an instant and said "I don't think so. What if you try to eat us in our sleep."

Aether just rolled his eyes and said "I don't think skeleton's need to eat Paimon." Paimon just looked at Ainz and said "Maybe you are right. I highly doubt he gets hungry. The only thing in his stomach is that red orb."

Red orb? Ainz looked down at his body to see a large ribcage and his spine. Then below his ribcage, was a bright red orb that gave off a dreadful aura. So he actually was a skeleton. He also seemed to be dressed in black and purple robes or was the right word cloak?

For some reason he thought he was human initially. He felt slightly disappointed for some reason, but was this orb keeping him alive by chance. Best to protect it, just in case.

"Well we should set off now. I can guide you to Monstadt and to a Statue of the Seven!" Paimon said enthusiastically. Ainz just tilted his head. What was a "Statue of the Seven"?

One would assume that Mondstadt was a city or town of some sort. He would have to follow these people for some time. Ainz didn't mind however.

Aether then nodded and the three walked to the right of the beach. It didn't take long for them to come across a weird object.

It was mounted onto the floor. It glowed red with silver and gold encompassing a red object of some sort. An object like must have had some grand purpose he couldn't think of.

Paimon seemingly ignored the object, but Aether was as curious as him. Aether recklessly touched the object and it started to shake. The once ruby red aura started turning into an ocean blue. It broke from its mounted state and started floating.

Ainz was surprised and said "How did you do that?" Aether just shrugged and looked at his hand and said "I don't know exactly."

Paimon looked a bit surprised and said "So you can activate those things? I didn't bring it up because I don't know what those things are. However they are said to be ancient devices from long ago. Nobody knows their true purpose."

Surely nothing bad will happen right? One can only hope.

Little did they know, Aether knew the purpose of such a device. However, he wondered if he could really trust this skeleton at the end of the day.

"It doesn't seem to do anything so let's just continue shall we?" Aether and Ainz nodded simultaneously and they continued their walk into what seemed like a forest.

The walk was overall uneventful until they reached a large clearing. The three of them approached a cliff and saw a grand spectacle.

Large open area surrounded by cliffs and a large opening on the opposite end. One could assume this was not natural. Pass the exit and you could see a city. Or maybe a castle. Ainz couldn't tell from the distance.

Birds were seen flying over the landscape. As the sun shone brightly towards the small lake. A small island could be seen in the middle of the lake. A Statue could be seen resting on it. The scene Ainz was looking at was truly beautiful.

Paimon then said "Over there is the statue of one of the seven. This god controls the power of the winds. Come let's get a closer look."

The three took the road down as Paimon said "Paimon brought you here because this land is known for its bards and songs that stretch across the world. Many have traveled here as it's also known as the Land of Freedom. If any place knows about your sister. It has to be this one."

"You sure are a mysterious creature, Paimon." Ainz said with intrigue and rubbing my bony chin slightly. Observing her as I do so. Paimon is an interesting creature. I'm suddenly having urges to keep her locked away like a priceless toy.

"Paimon is not flattered by your word choice." She said with a pout and crossing her arms. Almost like a child would do. Leaving Aether to smile in response. Letting a little chuckle escape his breath.

They approached the lake and Paimon flew over the water. Aether had to swim over to the island. Ainz was able to just walk through the water. When Ainz arrived on dry land. He saw the Statue of the Seven.

It was a grey, dull and slightly broken statue. Pieces were chipped off the Statue. Did people not tend to such Statues if it was meant to depict a god?

"So does the person in the Statue look familiar Aether?" Ainz asked. Aether shook his head and said "This is not the god that took my sister. However, I need to meet them in person. I need to ask them myself."

Ainz just nodded in response. It was fairly reasonable, but how would they even meet a god in the first place?

Paimon then suddenly said "Oh try touching the Statue and ask it a question in your head. These Statues should be linked to the Gods so they should be able to hear you right?"

"Not a bad idea Paimon. Try it Aether, maybe it might work." Ainz said with enthusiasm. Aether seemed to agree with us and approached the Statue.

Aether touched the Statue and it started to glow a turquoise color. The light radiated on the orb the Statue was holding, a small wisp of turquoise came out and charged straight at Aether. It touched a colorless spot on his clothes. Coloring the once colorless spots on his clothing with a turquoise hue.

Paimon was visibly shocked and said "Wow! Not everyone can receive the blessings, let alone powers of the Gods that easily." Aether looked at his clothes and said " it's because I'm not from this world."

"Exactly, maybe that's why you don't even need a Vision!" Paimon said with confidence. Ainz, on the other hand, was amazed. Just like that, he was able to receive the powers of a god. What would happen if I touched the statue?

So while they were talking in the background. Ainz touched the statue with his skeletal hand and said in his mind 'May I remember my forgotten past.'

However, nothing happened which disappointed Ainz slightly. 'Does that mean I'm from this world as well or that I don't possess the qualities that Aether does? This truly was an enigma.' Ainz thought to himself

"Well we should head off to the city of Mondstadt. Onward Steadfast Traveler and Eerie Skeleton!" Ainz looked towards Paimon with a glare. Ainz's scarlet red orbs that acted as his eyes started glowing slightly, making themselves visible.

"Eek, don't make your eyes glow like that. It's too scary!" Ainz gave a smirk in response, but it wasn't visible on his fleshless face. Aether then said "C'mon Paimon. Let's hit the road already!"

She nodded and the three continued their trek. They were approaching what appears to be a larger forest. However, they stopped walking because a large roar was heard from above. They looked up to see a large and colorful creature with six wings fly over them. When I say large, I mean it was enormous. It landed in the forest ahead.

Paimon stared in awe and said "What was that?! Paimon thinks we should check it out." Ainz didn't think that was a smart idea, but Aether agreed so I had to tag along either way.

Ainz just hoped these two aren't stupid enough to engage that creature. It could probably kill us in seconds!

"Impossible! What happened! Albedo cast [Message] immediately. We need to find Lord Ainz." A tall, thin man named Demiurge was in an british orange suit with white stripes and glasses. He barked his order without his usual calm arrogant demeanor. Instead it was replaced with pure horror. His silver metal tail lashed mercilessly at the ground out of anxiety.

The woman Albedo had raven black hair and horns on the side of her head that warped to her forehead. She was dressed in a white dress with a gold spider web necklace that covered her shoulders and bosom. Her black wings around her waist were flapping frantically as she used a magic spell called [Message] to try to contact Lord Ainz. Their Supreme Overlord and her one true love.

She too was in a panicked state. The Supreme Being known as Ainz Ooal Gown was conducting a way to make an object capable of using the [Gate] spell multiple times without losing its effect. Allowing for high tier teleportation without the need for MP and level/class restrictions. Only downside is that it would need to be recharged with MP after numerous usage. However, even then, It would be a great technological advancement for Nazarick and its forces. Especially one that could be reproduced and given to other Floor Guardians.

However an accident occurred during testing. While testing the Experimental Object with the codename "Rift Opener". The object couldn't handle the strain of all the magic in use. A purple explosion was caused when using a transferring spell and when the smoke cleared. "Rift Opener" was utterly obliterated and Lord Ainz Ooal Gown was nowhere to be found.

Without their Supreme Ruler of Nazarick commanding them. They were clueless and lost. Albedo looked at Demiurge with a saddened look and said "Lord Ainz is not responding."

Demiurge's face grew grim. His long ears twitched slightly as fell to his knees. His glasses fell off his face and it revealed his jewels for eyes. The only thing he could say was "How could we let this happen?!" Demiurge then slammed the ground out of despair and anger.

"He can't be dead! He had a resurrection ring on. If he was dead, he would be brought back to life. That didn't happen, so he must be somewhere and we will find him." Albedo paused to see Demiurge tyring very desperately to compose himself.

"We will find him at all costs!"
