Page 1: Prologue

Two young boys were running from a small church towards Hage Village. The one leading the way was a short stachered child with ash blonde spiky hair wearing a grey long sleeve and black plants. The child he is leading/dragging towards the village is slightly taller with black smooth hair wearing a black turtleneck and brown pants. These two were childhood friends Asta and Yuno, brothers in all but blood who are heading into town after hearing news of a Magic Knight squad stopping in town.

"Come on Yuno, you overheard Sister Marie and Father Orsi to, right?! We can finally see some Magic Knights in person instead of from the books or our caretaker's stories!" Yelled Asta to his black-haired friend.

Yuno looking worried muttered "I kno..know Asta but we need to finish our chores" Yuno and Asta were helping with the Church's laundry when they overheard their caretakers talking about a group of magic knights who were escorting a noble to the Capital and stopped in the village to rest at the local tavern. As soon as Asta heard their idols were so close to home, he did not hesitate to convince Yuno to sneak off to take a look.

Yuno always had trouble sticking up for himself and being assertive, especially with Asta when he comes up with his adventures. But why not? Asta was everything he wasn't. He was brave, strong, and always stood up for those looked down upon. They were both abandoned together as babies, their bond was unbreakable. While Yuno had his jeweled necklace as an attachment to who he hopes is his parents. Asta sadly had nothing like that.

Another reason Yuno admired Asta was his passion to be a Magic Knight despite lacking a crucial requirement…. Magic. While Yuno had a proficiency towards wind magic along with various types by the other orphans, Asta has yet to exhibit any magic talent and seemingly never will. However, Asta has begun to train his physical body in hopes of overcoming his magical disability.

"Come on Yuno, we will be back before they notice. Ontop of that we can brag that we were the first ones to meet actual Magic Knights!" Asta said convincingly

"Ok….." muttered Yuno as he let Asta take the lead

-A short run later-

After asking around the village, Asta and Yuno had learned that the Magic Knight escort were still at the local tavern. The two orphans rushed over to the tavern before their idols left.

Finally reaching the tavern doors, Asta looked over at Yuno and said "Ready to finally meet some real Magic Knights Yuno" with Yuno excitedly nodding his head

Upon opening the tavern door, they were shocked to see a fancily dressed man standing over and yelling at a waitress on the ground.

"HOW DARE YOU SPILL YOUR DISGUSTING DRINK ON ME! ITS BAD ENOUGH I HAVE TO EAT THIS VILE COMMONER FOOD BUT NOW I SMELL OF CHEAP BEER AND MY CLOTHS ARE STAINED! I AM LORD SHILLT OF THE NOBLE CLASS!" Yelled the outraged nobleman as he struck the waitress.

The tavern patrons were either to shocked or scared to act. Asta recognized the waitress as Alyssa, a kind employee of the tavern who would donate leftover pastries to the orphanage and would play with them on her off time. More shocking to Asta was the fact that Magic Knights in the tavern were doing nothing.

There were three knights, two male and one female observing the altercation. They were wearing purple cloaks with the logo of a giant fish on it. These three must have been from the Purple Orcas guild. Connecting the dots, Asta and Yuno realized these were the Magic Knights and the abusive noblemen was their escort

Yuno was about to whisper to Asta they should leave when he saw Asta charge forward and yelled "WHAT DO YOU THINK YOU ARE DOING TO MISS ALYSSA YOU BASTARD!"

Asta smashed his head into Lord Shillt's side causing him to stumble giving Asta a chance to shield the bruised Alyssa.

"How dare you hurt Miss Alyssa you big meanie! She is the nicest person you will every meet and always gives us orphans extra sweets!" scolded Asta

Lord Shillt did nothing, because he was hurt or just shocked was hard to tell. Then all of the sudden Asta was blown back by a beam of energy. Yuno looked for the source of the energy that hurt his best friend but was shocked to see one of the Purple Orcas with his hand pointed at Asta and glaring past his floating grimoire.

"How dare you filthy commoner attack a nobleman of the Clover Kingdom. We should have you whipped outside for your disrespect" said one of the male Purple Orcas who then walked over to Asta, grabbing him by the scruff of his shirt, then punching him back on the ground. Seeing his friend hurt caused Yuno to rush over to protect Asta.

"Stop hurting Asta!" Shouted Yuno as he began weakling hitting the magic Knight's legs which seemed to only annoy him rather than hurt. As the Purple Orcas raised his fist to punch the weak orphan, the waitress Alyssa ran up to him and pleaded "Please sir Magic Knight, they are just children, they don't know any better. The tavern will gladly cover the cost of Lord Shillt's clothes"

The Magic Knight paused but snapped "Very well, but I doubt after I report back to the capital any more Magic Knights will want to stop in this village to resupply. Lord Shillt we shall collect damages then we shall be on our way" Lord Shillt seemed to hesitate but agreed. Alyssa handed him a large pouch of coin after the group collected their things. After helping Asta up, Yuno decided to ask them a question before they left.

"Why?" the knights and nobleman turned "Why would you hurt the people of Hage village like this. You are knights who are supposed to protect us commoners, why would you protect some mean noble abusing his position" Shocked by his assertiveness, Yuno was relieved when he heard Asta shout his support.

The Magic Knights laughed, with their leader saying mockingly "You think we knights and nobles serve you commoners? Don't make me laugh. Its bad enough we are seeing commoners become magic knights but now we are seeing them mouth off to us. Disgraceful!" the Magic Knight laughed further "We serve the Kingdom yes, but our service is to the King and nobles who run Clover, not some filthy commoners who couldn't hope to match our magic power. No go off to your pathetic homes and be grateful we didn't whip you two"

A depressed Asta and Yuno watched their former idols walk off. Deciding to get back to the church before anybody noticed, the two orphans began their walk home.

-Later That Night-

Asta was able to hide his bruises from the caretakers and other orphans, so he finished his chores with Yuno before heading off to bed for the night. Yuno decided to address the elephant in the room and brought up their experience.

"So Asta, are you feeling any better? Depressed as I am" Yuno nervously asked. It wasn't normal for Asta to be so quiet.

Looking down at his feet, Asta finally answered "Yuno… you and me are going to change things. We are going to make sure that nobody is hurt or abused like that again" Asta said with confidence. Seeing the confidence back in his friend's eyes made Yuno happy,

"You bet Asta, when we become Magic Knights and one of us becomes the Wizard King, we will reform the system and create a world where those Magic Knights and nobleman were a thing of the past" Yuno explained. At the mention of their previous ambitions of becoming Knights, Yuno noticed for a split second Asta hesitating before he nodded his head.

Unknown to Yuno and even Asta, a seed was planted in Asta's head that would grow and take root at his distaste at the system they were exposed to. While Yuno would want to see reform, Asta would seek to burn the entire kingdom down. To begin anew.

Hello everybody! This is my first attempt at writing a fanfiction or even serious creative writing in general. Whenever I get into an anime, I always get ideas for alternate history and look on the site for anybody that had similar ideas. After years of this, I decided to take matters into my own hands and write a story myself. If people have any advice, please leave it in the comments.

I always liked darker heroes in anime and always saw that Asta could have easily walked down a darker path. I envision this Fanfiction seeing Asta embrace his demon side much sooner, and assemble an army to overthrow the monarchy system that he sees harming Clover Kingdom. This will bring him into conflict with Yuno, who believes change can be brought about through peaceful reform on the inside. Both Yuno and Asta will still share a close bond, with Asta always trying to get Yuno to join him when they cross paths or hesitate harming him when they fight. Asta won't be a good guy with different worldview. He will use his Demonic powers gained from a closer partnership with his brother/resident Demon Liebe as they seek to gain power and destroy the demon race. His powers will include the ability to twist a person's deepest desires or flaws to corrupt them to his side, basically brainwashing them. Asta will be an interesting third player in the fight between the Clover Kingdom and they Eye of the Midnight Sun for the first part of this story. I hope you all enjoy .
