God, be praised! It is a wonderful time. The three ranchos work well together. Miguel's masses have more people every week. Angelina's tavern will be built by next month. The railroad brings people and goods into Tucson. Reverend Jackson and Sister Mercy will have their new church soon. Eben writes up articles for these events.
And of course James and Victoria bring such joy! íAy! It is so hard to stay at Chaparral and do my work. Trinidad, Pilar and Jenny have been very helpful. I drive up there on the wagon every chance I have. I cannot stay away from them! Amo a mis nietos.
Manolito has to tease me about such things. He says he is counting my visits. I can count his diaper changes for the babies. Two can play this game, Manolo!
Papa will receive his proper burial in La Catedral de Asunción in Hermosillo. The births delayed our trip by a few days. I believe Papa will understand. He and Mama will be together. His wishes will be fulfilled.
The land matter is not resolved. Don Ricardo, John and Manolito have talked about the restored ranchos. There is Rancho Granada. Es un rancho enorme a ciento millas al sur del Rancho Montoya. It has excellent grazing for the livestock. Consul Ortiz has not said anything of his 'proposition'. What is that man up to? Can we trust him or El Presidente Ruíz? The Santiago y Amistads have made it clear that they tire of the desert. The government keeps them far from Mexico City. So many problems!
For now, let us bury Papa. The problems will wait until then….
