She'd never really thought much of autumn, until him.
The fall season wasn't her favorite season. She personally preferred spring (her best outfits were there.)
But apparently it was his.
So, well, a day out would have to suffice.
In fairness, it wasn't too chilly, but, just enough to warrant one of her sweaters and some boots. It wasn't really her style, she hoped she looked decent-
"You suit yellow well, by the way. It is a nice sweater."
"Oh-"
With anyone else she wouldn't think much of it. it was just a compliment, after all !
"Thanks!"
She unconsciously tucked some hair behind her ear as they chose a bench.
only a compliment.
Anyway,
with the entire ground covered in earthy yellows, oranges and browns, it almost made her favor this scenery more than the usual lush green grass.
Usually, she would prefer cozying up on her couch. A blanket, perhaps; Peacefully watching dance videos with this kind of weather. That was her way of enjoying the Fall season.
Although today, she didn't mind showing off her autumn colors, *especially* if it meant a harmless hangout with him of all people.
He wasn't always in a rush to schedule plans- usually finding himself dragged into them by one of his more extroverted friends–– it somehow made the fact that he wanted to enjoy his first autumn, with her, all the more flattering.
Sure, it was only their third outing since he got his own body, but why did him seeking her out–– Why did it warm her more than this sweater?
It was cheesy, she knew.
And gosh, she was thinking too much on it again; a sentimental romantic, she was.
If observing this lovesick behaviour in anyone else, years ago, young Anzu would probably turn her nose up in shame.
Oh well
She couldn't help herself.
"I quite respect this season. It is hard to believe I have never enjoyed it before. Its wondrous, no?"
"Yeah." She hummed, noting the steam from her cup's lid, swaying in the same direction as her hair.
Breezy.
Bathing in the autumn air did make her pull up the turtleneck.
Peeking over, and only because she couldn't help herself–– he calmly let the foggy air and warm tones wash over his features; Thoroughly enjoying the experience
His own experience.
She loved it for him. She loved the sight of him; undergoing the warm hues and watching the sunset in solace.
He looked like a picture. No, a scenery.
And it was all too perfect–– even the unspoken way he seemed to confide in her presence.
Suddenly, blinking ruby eyes back at her, he gave a with a warm smile. Her eyes immediately darted elsewhere.
Crap.
And suddenly her hair blocked her vision and she instinctually scrunched a bit at the powerful breeze, protecting the warmth of her neck.
It was so windy,
enough as to pause her starting fluster that he brought upon, and even blow decaying leaves through her hair.
A slight chuckle brought her attention back to him.
"You've got something, well..."
He took the liberty of removing the crunchy sounding appendage from her crown.
"It matches your hair, kind of..."
She didn't have a moment to blunder at the casual touch; the comment.
Because just then, something marvelously satirical caught her vision. The way the stars aligned in such an intricate manner, just for her irony? Her hysterics?
He quirked a brow.
"What? What is it..?"
"Wait, Hold still."
She took Fall's tiny gift from his hand; the five pointed ends conveying the joke to the both of them. She pressed curved lips expectantly.
"Pfft-"
"I...what are you saying?"
"It's just- your hair- the leaf."
"Ah, yes." He perked his lips "the resemblance is uncanny."
"Leaf-tem"
She smiled at his attempts to hide one, and tried again
"A-stem."
"Please Anzu" he rolled his eyes, even showing teeth in his smile.
And her heart raced.
Impossibly cute.
He was just so impossibly cute !
And when he allowed himself to smile like that, like that, it was beautiful. unlawful, even.
She held the leaf up one last time for good measure, and tossed it beside her, taking in his slightly amused (and disappointed because those puns were god-awful) expression.
It would be hard to miss his attempts of hiding that fading smile he let slip through, as he distractingly sipped his coffee.
Was he flustered?
Well, she did make him smile.
She looked away as if to spare him, and sipped her own beverage with a sense of accomplishment.
The sugary-spiced cider warming her nose from the crisp air, and giving perhaps a coverup for her reddening features.
She got a new smile out of him today. And even, almost, a full chuckle. Why did it feel so liberating?
Short thing, because its Fall and I had Revo feels.
