-A man begins to exhibit concerning symptoms on a flight heading from Dallas to New York City. He experienced a high spike in temperature, nausea, excessive sweating. Because the symptoms began toward the end of the flight, the pilot stayed on course and dropped the passengers off at John F. Kennedy Airport in New York.
October 8th, 2036
-Less than fifteen hours later, The man attacked a family outside of his house. Both parents received bite wounds and lacerations to the exposed skin on their arms, necks, and faces. The three children who were with them were unharmed. The man's name was revealed to be Dalton Grady, aged 46 – an unassuming lawyer who worked at a New York law firm. The first known case of a new disease that would all too soon change the course of humanity forever.
October 24th, 2036
-The disease had spread rapidly. Little was known about it during this time, but it was believed to have been spread through bodily fluids. (Later on, this theory would be proven true.) The previous symptoms that Grady had shown on the flight were the predecessor to extreme aggression, delirium, and cannibalistic behavior. Four thousand cases had been reported nationwide.
November 14th, 2036
-Reports of the disease began to emerge from Mexico, Canada, and several countries in Europe. Twenty-three thousand cases reported in North America.
December 1st, 2036
-Nearing seventy thousand cases in North America. Reports coming in from almost every continent – the disease is now considered a pandemic. A nationwide shutdown is implemented, but the damage is already done. Many individuals remain unconvinced of the virus' legitimacy, and stage protests on the streets.
January 7th, 2037
-The lockdown was deemed ineffective. Worldwide Medical staff worldwide are scrambling to figure out treatment plans and vaccines for the disease. It is given an unofficial name – Z-01.
There are now more than six million cases worldwide.
April 22nd, 2037
-Measures to slow the spread and find a cure are not effective. Z-01 is highly contagious, and the onset of symptoms range from almost instantly to upward of three weeks. It is discovered to not be contagious until the first symptoms begin to show.
-Major cities in America begin to barricade themselves in, attempting to protect the majority of the population, along with the country's leaders. Worldwide, other countries do the same.
-The death toll far outweighs the reported cases. Dozens of millions, although it is much more difficult to keep track of the numbers now. Survival is more important.
June 13th, 2037
-Power cuts off for the entire country, save for state capitals. Communication is becoming increasingly limited. AM radio is the most efficient way to relay a message to the entire country.
March 17th, 2039
-Present day. Living humans are hard to come by - they've splintered off into groups, attempting to survive in the wasteland that the world has become. For most, hope is entirely lost.
...But not for all.
[end of the world]
AN: The story will begin in March of 2039, two and a half years after the initial outbreak. These characters will have had time to become familiar with the world, as it is, and have likely gotten familiar with one another.
I am not sure how many characters I'm going to be looking for for this story. Probably somewhere around 10 for the main group, but I'm very flexible on that! Not all characters will have massive roles, but they'll all play a big part in the story.
"Villain" roles will be accepted later on! Message me if you'd like to have a villain in the story and I'll make a new form specifically for that purpose.
a note: i have not watched the walking dead, personally, so this is going to diverge heavily from the actual story.
the form is on my profile :)
rules
1. please only submit one character.
2. be creative! your character can be just about whoever you want them to be, as long as they're not perfect.
3. pm me the character - i won't be accepting any through reviews.
4. review if your character is featured! i want to know if i've done a good job, or if i can change things and be better. it's really nice to have the feedback.
5. if your character is accepted, i may ask you to fill out another section of the form that will let me know what your character thinks of the other characters in the group individually.
6. be descriptive! i want so much detail on these forms. it'll help me portray them more accurately.
7. if you have suggestions or questions, don't hesitate to message me! i'm really nice, i swear.
that's all for now! i'll have a real chapter up soon - preferably by this weekend - so that you can meet a couple of the characters who are already in the group. possibly even some of yours, if you've submitted them by then! there is no deadline, but i'll be accepting characters as i get them, so spots will be limited. please let me know if you plan on submitting and it's going to take a while.
thank you!
