Midnight Flight

Yasha couldn't sleep properly. She was plagued by nightmares from the time she spent with Obann. So she offered to take watch for the night, letting her companions sleep. Glancing at Beau, the monk slept soundly, arms and legs thrown over Caleb and Jester unceremoniously.

Frumpkin sat beside Yasha, "Hey little guy. Could you stand watch over the others for a minute, I need to take a look around." Frumpkin blinked up at her and meowed. Yasha laughed, scratching the little cat familiar behind the ears.

Yasha didn't walk far, just a little farther to stretch her legs. She leaned against a tree and looked up to the sky and the clouds. They looked so inviting.

"Sneaking off again?" Beau's voice made her tense up, but when she looked behind her Beau was smiling, one brow raised. Her body relaxed.

"No. Just restless I guess." Yasha shrugged. Beau hummed walking up to her, taking Yasha's hand in her own and intertwining their fingers, "You... you like right?"

Beau snorted, "Were the confessions, kisses, flirting and sex not enough to convince you?"

"No, I mean yes! I'm sorry I... sometimes I think... you, or anyone, could possibly like me anymore, I did terrible things Beau. I know it might be silly to think about that still but..." Yasha didn't know how to explain these feelings of regret and doubt. She was never good with words, "Sometimes I think you'd all be better without me. Safer."

Beau took a deep breath. She pulled Yasha by the hand, kissing the barbarian's cheek, "I'm sorry Yasha. I can't magically make you better or forget these things you're feeling. I just do dope monk shit. But what I can do is... you know... be with you and tell you that you're awesome and pretty and that I love you. And I think I speak for everyone in the Nein when I say that we need and want you with us. You're family Yasha." Beau could feel her face heating up as she talked, she wasn't much better at feelings either. Quips and flirting yes, but being emotionally open was something that she, as well everyone in the Nein was learning to do, each in their own way. But they all had each other.

"Thank you Beau." Yasha leaned down to kiss Beau back, on the lips this time, "Hey, its a nice night isn't it." Yasha whispered, her face finally breaking into a smile, "Wanna go for a little flight with me?" Beau's eyes widened, but then she gave Yasha a sly smile and wiggled her eye brows, "No! Not for that! Well... I'd like to try sometime, but now I just want to hold you. If... if you want."

Beau laughed at Yasha's fumbling words, "Sure. That's very romantic of you babe." Beau's arms wound around Yasha's neck. Yasha gave her a small peck before sweeping her into her arms, unleashing her Aasimar wings and taking flight into the night sky.

It was peaceful, but they didn't wander far, glancing around every now and then for any movement. Beau burred her face into Yasha's neck.

"That tickles love." Yasha laughed.

"You're really comfy. I could sleep like this." Beau kissed Yasha's neck playfully.

"I like flying at night. Everything's so peaceful. Well... maybe not always with our group but its still nice. Especially with you." Yasha turned her head to look at Beau, a blush prominent on Yasha's pale face.

"Yeah. I think I'd like to do this more often. Its nice." Beau beamed at her girlfriend.

Yasha felt her heart sore. She still had her demons to fight, her doubts and insecurities. But she's not alone anymore. She has Beau and the Mighty Nein. She'll be ok. With time.
