I know this is not my other story, and I will go back to that story and finish it. However, I just had this idea spinning in my head for a Castle story and wanted to start working on it. I hope you guys like this story as much as the other one I am writing.
Chapter 1
Katherine Beckett officially met Richard Castle when his books became linked to one of her cases one week ago. He worked with her to solve that case because of his friendship with the mayor. She was not too happy about having to work with him because the last thing she needed was so immature playboy interfering in her life, not to mention he was a writer and the last thing she needed was him sniffing around her life. Once they solved the case, Kate thought that would be the last she saw of him, but she was about to find out just how wrong she was.
"Josie, we love you very much, and nothing will ever change that. So here, take this; it will help you out. You have to run now, Josie, and go far away. We are out of time." Johanna said to her daughter with tears streaming down her face.
"No, Mom, Dad, I won't leave without you. I need you, and I can't imagine my life without you." cried Josie
"Josie, your Mother is right. I wish so many things, but you have to get out of here now. They are coming, and we can't stop them, but we can protect you." Jim kisses his daughter's forehead one last time. When Jim and Johanna heard the sound of tires screeching to a halt, they knew time was up.
"Josie, run now!" Johanna shouted. Josie looked back one last time at her parents, whom she loved dearly; she then ran out the back door and hid behind a tree outside her house. Josie hoped that she would be able to go back into that house and have her parents hold her and tell her everything was over and going to be ok, but to her horror, she watched as her childhood home went up in flames with her parents still inside.
"NOOOOO! Mom! Dad! NOOOOOO! Please, somebody help!" Kate screamed, waking from her nightmare. Her heart was racing, and she was sweating; she looked around her dark bedroom, and it took her a minute to register where she was and that she was safe. Then, looking over at her alarm clock on the bedside time and it read 2 am. Kate heard footsteps approach her room, and her heart started pounding again, the terror she felt rising back up.
"Momma, are you ok?" asked a small little voice.
Kate was able to relax again as she realized that it was just her little girl. "Yes, baby Mommy is fine," Kate answered her daughter from her bed where she was not sitting up.
"But you were screaming, Momma. You scared me." the little girl said.
"Love, I am so sorry I didn't mean to scare you. Mommy just had a bad dream. But, you know what would make me feel better?" "What, Momma?" the little girl asked, tilting her head to the side. "If you came and slept in here with me, what do you say?" Kate asked her daughter. The little girl nodded her head enthusiastically, so Kate lifted the covers and allowed her daughter to climb into bed with her. Kate kissed the top of her daughter's head, "Night Monkey, I love you." she whispered, and with her arms wrapped around her baby, she was able to sleep through the rest of the night soundly.
