It was a very (not so very) bright day in the Shinigami realm.

The shinigami sat, the shinigami played, the shinigami wrote and last of all the Shinigami killed. All in all, it was a very peaceful start for a day.

The realm was full of deadly beasts who could kill anyone in seconds. Who just enjoyed seeing people get tortured and those who just enjoyed...the fun of killing. They were dangerous for sure and force not to be reckoned with.

One Shinigami, at the very end of the Death realm, slowly opened his eyes. Bright light entered his vision and he had to blink twice just to see properly. He hated bright lights and seemed like today was one of those in which light was the specialty.

The day when the universe changed.

The world's history changed.

Officially known as the day he hated most.

This bright light always covered the death god's palace and illuminated till the end of the ending though only when something special was about to occur.

Oh well, he never really was too interested. He hated those days in fact, they disturbed his general musing and thought process.

Yet today, it was different when he looked towards the horizon where was situated the legendary palace of the Death God. Something appeared in his vision then, something very very red

Something that was red, circular, and eatable kept at the very top of the abomination place waiting to be touched and eaten. Needless to say, he was hardly able to stop drooling.

"Hey Ryuk?" A voice interrupted his oh-so-precious thoughts.

"Yes?" He drawled out and turned towards the owner of said voice.

"There has been a rumor around here lately" Deridovely raised an eyebrow and chuckled dryly before continuing. His hand motioned towards the other Shinigam's who were watching their conversation quietly "That you have been planning on dropping the death note?"

Ryuk's mind stopped. He had thought of it before...before seeing those red magnificent circles. It was either dropping the death note or eating those yummy untouched apples.

He chose the circles- apples of course

Who could resist the temptation of some yummy human apples lying in front of them? Well, he couldn't and you shouldn't too.

It was a saying, wasn't it? An apple a day keeps the doctor away. Well, Ryuk wasn't planning on going to the doctor and red apples were sure to help his case. All the more reason to eat.

He licked the bottom of his mouth excitedly "No. Change of plans, Deridovely. I have something that needs to be taken care of" He stated and smiled, seeing Deridovely disappointed face bought joy on his face, it made it all the more worth it. Ryuk silently left without a word, not even sparing them a glance as he seemingly drifted aimlessly to where he could see the red-so many red apples over the horizon and made the biggest discovery of his life...

He wasn't bored.

Ryuk wasn't bored.

And the world exploded (it didn't).

It didn't land into chaos (or maybe it did?)

His lovely-lovely apples...

Somewhere in the human realm*

Light Yagami stared. He stared at the trees, he stared at the ground outside, he stared at the cars passing by and he stared at things for a long time till he dropped with exhaustion. He was utterly bored.

The twisting of his pen ceased in his hands, his thought process broke. He kept the pen back with a little too loud thud. The class glanced at him yet he kept his face neutral. A few girls who had been watching him closely a minute ago gave a possibly cute giggle.

Pathetic.

The barest of smirks adorned his lips and he leaned forward in his chair, turning his gaze towards the blackboard which had been filled with kanji sentences a second before, now was empty while the teacher shuffled to collect her things and left the class. A small yawn escaped his lips. Very unlike him seeing as he was the reincarnation of perfection.

He was bored.

Maybe he should have taken the offer his father presented in the detective work after all. The offer had its own pros and cons.

Perhaps L would need a helping hand of a mind like him in catching this whatever-Kira, he didn't seem to be doing much well of a job at it. Or was the information confidential? No, that shouldn't- wouldn't be the case if it wasn't in his father's top-secret files. Huh, even the greatest detective can fail once in a while.

It was a chance for him to shine to show L the Light.

Finally, his brain could be used in something productive if becoming a part of the investigation. Part of something that was worth having him. This Kira was a fascinating topic. Random people dying from heart attacks every day was never a good thing.

All the second youngest Yagami knew was that if only he had Kira's power, if only he could grasp it in his hand, he would have used it in a more interesting yet fascinating way. If the power would be like he suspected Kira had, in his control, it would be unstoppable. Light just needed his fist around it and then grasp it as a whole.

The universe learned before and will again that whenever Light Yagami was interested...it never ended well.

Never!

The world shall know him.

The world shall know Pain.

That's Naruto...

The world shall know Kira.

Definitely not you!

The world shall know Light.

Better.

I'll change the world!

In the end, nobody was bored and it all ended well.

(It actually didn't though that's a story for another time)

The end.

This fic was purely made out of utter boredom and I really don't care if the characters were a bit OOC.

Thank you for reading!
