Bernadetta [Blue Lions, after time skip]

A Support

Sylvain appears behind Bernadetta in the library

Sylvain: Hey Bernadetta. It's nice to see you outside your room.

Bernadetta: Eeek! Bernie didn't do anything! Please don't hurt me!

Sylvain: Bernadetta, calm down. It's just me.

Bernadetta: Oh. (Bernadetta puts down a sheath of papers and turns around). I guess it's good to see you.

Sylvain: Likewise, though I'm sure it is good. Are you still working on your story?

Bernadetta: Yes, but it tends to be a little more maudlin now. Look at what Edelgard has done!

Sylvain: Yeah, I understand how that would impact your stories. They do seem to draw from your real life experience. But I remember when I read your story, I was transported to another world. The main girl character who struggled against adversity was so compelling that the pressure I felt in my everyday life vanished while I turned the pages. What was it I wrote all those years ago? Oh, I remember. "I enjoyed your story tremendously. I laughed and cried as the heroine overcame her many obstacles, growing stronger with each step." It inspired me. If the heroine could overcome her obstacles, why couldn't I do the same?

Bernadetta: You remember all of that?

Sylvain: Of course I do! Your story was wonderful, just like you were... just like you are now. (Bernadetta's eyes go wide as Sylvain leans in).

Bernadetta: No! (Bernadetta shoves Sylvain back). I thought you were different now. But you are still the same shameless flirt. Well, Bernie's not afraid anymore!

Sylvain: (Sylvain surges to his feet). Wait, let me explain-

Bernadetta: Eeek! Bernie is sorry. Please don't hurt me! (Bernadetta turns and runs away).

Fade to Black

Cut to Bernedetta's room

Sylvain: (Knocking on Bernadetta's door). Please Bernadetta! Just come out and talk to me, please! (Sylvain waits, but hears nothing). I understand if you don't want to talk to me right now. I'll wait for you in the library. You left your story there. I guess I'll get the chance to read it now.

Bernadetta: (Bernadetta gasps).

Sylvain: I am really looking forward to reading it. But regardless of the story, I really do think you are wonderful. See you soon.

Sylvain stands in the library, holding papers

Sylvain: This is really wonderful. (Shuffles papers). But she wasn't lying. It is certainly sadder.

Bernadetta: (Bernadetta appears). You really like it.

Sylvain: Yeah I do (Long pause). I'm really happy you decided to come.

Bernadetta: I really wasn't sure. In fact, I had decided not to. But someone I wasn't expecting came to talk to me.

Sylvain: Oh?

Bernadetta: Ingrid. (Sylvain winces). She was surprised by what you said. Said you were indeed quite different, so she wouldn't have expected you to say that, not after all this time. The way she was talking, I'm pretty sure she likes you.

Sylvain: Ingrid? (Sylvain starts to laugh)

Bernadetta: That's not funny Sylvain. She is a great knight. She is smart, fierce and so beautiful. She is from Faerghus, just like you. You two would be the ideal match.

Sylvain: Bernadetta, I've known Ingrid my entire life. I like to think I've changed, but I know she doesn't like me, even with that change. The Sylvain I was before, the womanizing and foolish man I was before is buried into her mind. One time she even had to stop a pack of brothers from finding me and cutting me to pieces.

Bernadetta: Really? (Sylvain nods). You are sure she doesn't like you…too?

Sylvain: Yes I am… (Sylvian pauses and stares intently at Bernadetta). Whar did you just say?

Bernadetta: The way she was talking, it's so similar to how I think, how I thought about you.

Sylvain: Bernadetta, I-

Bernadetta: Sylvain, I hope you changed, but I don't know. However, I might be prepared to give you a chance.

Sylvain: That's all I wanted. Thank you. How about tea tomorrow in your room?

Bernadetta: No.

Sylvain: But I thought-

Bernadetta: I've been that person my whole life. That person never woukd have considered a single dinner with you. Besides, the past girls you have dated, you didn't have tea in their room, did you? (Bernadetta arches an eyebrow at Sylvain)

Sylvain: Very well. I'll pick you up at 7 for dinner. Wear comfortable shoes. I promise you won't regret it!

Epilogue

Sylvain renounced his womanizing ways and his wedding to the daughter of Count Varley was widely celebrated. Much changed, Bernadetta was often seen in the Gautier territory, helping those affected by the war. She was beloved by the people, her loving husband most of all.
