For years Doomguy has been on a never-ending quest to defend humanity, or at least that's what I thought at the time.

What drives him? Why fight an endless battle? These were the questions I asked, but he'd only say. "Kill them! Must kill them all!"

I eventually did get my answer; just not in the way I expected, but I'm getting ahead of myself.

My name is Alvin Seville and I'm a Marine.

I joined to protect my brothers Theodore and Simon. I needed to fight for my love Brittany. I wanted to make my father David Seville proud.

There were some issues with having a chipmunk joining the Army. Thankfully we met the ambitious engineer, Dr. Marley. He was known for building cybernetic limbs for veterans.

Dr. Marley eventually invented exoskeletons, that's when the Army caught wind of his work and they conscripted him. It happened to be that Dr. Marley was a fan, and when he heard that I wanted to join the Army he modified a prototype for me to use. It's thanks to him that I joined.

I was honored to be part of the Marines, but when we were told to fire on civilians, I couldn't.

Fortunately or unfortunately one of my fellow marines thought the same. After killing our CO, he was arrested. I thought that he'd spend the rest of his life in hell. Everyone in the platoon knew who he was after that day, but none of us knew his name. We all called him Doomguy.

The higher-ups decided to split our platoon, and I was shipped off-planet.

The Army had a deal with some group called the Union Aerospace Corporation. It wasn't exactly what I signed up for, but it was better than wrangling up people, while the world was in a state of martial law.

That was Earth, chaotic, oppressive and polluted. It amazed me when I realized that my home planet wasn't paradise, but I did find paradise, Mars.
