Act 1: Contact
Chapter 1: New Place, New Adventure
UNKNOWN LOCATION
POV: Ruby Rose
Premise: RWBY and JNPR start a new adventure. But in a new place.
They were back, and they were sure of it.
It had been about a week since RWBY and JNPR had seen the Reds and Blues. The last time they did, they had defeated the rogue Freelancer agent known as the Meta, and Epsilon, better known as Church, allowed himself to go into the Epsilon Unit to find his friend Tex. The huntsmen left after everything was settled. They completed their first semester at Beacon and Team RWBY successfully defeated a White Fang cell at the docks in Vale. But earlier today they received a distress signal from what appeared to Agent Washington, who claimed that he along with the rest of the Reds and Blues were shipwrecked. Knowing that they could be in trouble, they did the thing they would always do.
And look where that got them.
"Well, this is just great." Ruby sighed as she helped her sister, Yang, to her feet.
"Yeah." Yang muttered, "This ain't Sidewinder. Or Valhalla. Or Blood Gulch."
"It's kinda spooky." Jaune added
"It seems alien." Pyrrha muttered
The huntsmen looked at their surroundings. They weren't at Valhalla, Blood Gulch, or on Sidewinder. They were in a rocky environment with a cave entrance. The sky was also completely different from the last time they saw the Reds and Blues. Instead of a blue sky and the image of a ringworld. It was grey, and stars were visible, even though it was about midday. A green gas giant could also be seen in the sky.
Ruby then looked around once more, "Wait, where are the others?"
"Yeah…" Yang muttered, "Blake! Weiss! Nora!? Anyone!?"
"Shhh!" Jaune hissed, "Someone could hear us."
"Hear us?" Yang questioned, "There's no one here."
Sure enough, someone heard them, "It came from over here!"
The huntsmen realized someone was nearby. "Quick hide." Ruby whispered to the others. They quickly hid behind a rock, and out of nowhere, a large group of soldiers came from the base. They all wore identical white, polished armor, with a visor that looked like a big eye. However some of the soldiers had red, blue, or green markings on their uniforms.
"There's nothing here!" shouted one of the soldiers.
"Good! Then let's get back to work evacuating! The New Republic will be showing up soon!"
Ruby looked confused at what the soldiers were talking about. "The New Republic?"
"No need soldier." said an ominous voice. A soldier clad in steel grey armor approached the white armored soldiers. He looked rather intimidating, as he wore a helmet that looked like a petrified skull.
"The base has been evacuated, all squads are leaving for the capital."
"Understood Locus!" replied the soldier, and the white armored soldiers and the man now known as Locus left. After waiting for a few minutes, the huntsmen left their hiding place.
"Who was that?" Pyrrha asked herself
"Well whoever it was, he didn't seem friendly." Jaune said to her
Ruby then spoke to them all, "Come on.. We should get moving."
The four headed in the opposite direction that the soldiers came from, and found a disturbing sight. It was a base that was sei-demolished, bodies of armor were everywhere.
"Holy crap…" Jaune muttered
"What happened here?" Yang muttered
"Something, or someone had to have attacked this place." Ruby guessed, "I'm guessing this is why those left in such a hurry."
"A war." said Pyrrha
All eyes fell on her which wasn't surprising to say the least.
"A what?" Ruby asked her
"A war." Pyrrha repeated, "I think there's a real war."
Suddenly out of the blue, a lone soldier popped up from the hillside overlooking the base. He began charging towards the huntsmen at full speed
"Halt! In the name of the New Repub-aaahhh!" as he was running he accidentally tripped over a rock and tumbled down the hill, stopping at their feet.
"Well, we still know that some of the people in this universe are stupid." Jaune muttered
"Hey! I find that highly offensive!" the soldier shot back, who heard what Jaune had said. Yang at this point took out her gauntlets.
The soldier looked at him confused. "Uh...First off, love the gauntlets. Second, love your outfit. Third, who are you?" he asked as he got to his feet, with Yang still pointing her gauntlets at him. The huntsmen just stared at him. From the tone in his voice, he was young, and as tall as Jaune. His armor was vastly different from the white armored soldiers before. In fact, his was much uglier. It looked like he took various components from other armors and added them to his. The color was a dirty tan, with camo patterns, which was most likely used to help blend in with his surroundings. But the biggest difference was that the armor's secondary color was aqua blue.
"Hold on Yang." Ruby spoke up, "Maybe he could help us."
Yang looked at her before setting her eyes back on the soldiers.
"Alright." she said before putting her gauntletts down
The soldier blew a gigantic 'whew' before dusting off his armor. Revealing a name plate that read: PALOMO.
Your name is Palomo?" Pyrrha asked
"That's right, Private Charles Palomo of the New Republic!" he announced, he then examined the four individuals. "Wait. What are civilians doing out in the open? I thought all civilians were hiding either in the capital or underground during the war?"
The huntsmen looked at him confused. They thought Palomo had lost his mind.
"We aren't civilians." Yang said to him "And what do you mean war?"
Palomo looked puzzled. "You know, the war. War is just another day here on Chorus. Sometimes someone gets shot, sometimes someone gets blown up, and sometimes they serve cake in the mess hall."
"Chorus?" Jaune questioned
"You are a civilian of Chorus. Aren't you?" Palomo asked them
Yang sighed, "And I thought this universe wasn't weird enough."
"This universe?" Palomo questioned, "You're from another universe?"
"Wha-? No! We mean-"
"Awesome!" Palomo cut her off, "Kinda like those warriors my CO met a few months back."
The four of them looked at Palomo as if he lost his mind.
"Your CO met people from another universe before?" Jaune questioned him
"Yeah. My CO and his friends were part of this corrupt military project that used them. They rebelled and shut down the program. They're heroes to us rebels and humanity. With them here, they boosted the morale of the New Republic." Palomo said with pride. "During their adventures, they met a group of kids who called themselves huntsmen. They claimed they were from another universe. They're really good friends, my CO speaks highly of them!"
"Who is your CO exactly?" Pyrrha asked him
"Oh, his name is-"
""God dammit Palomo! Where did you go?!" a voice cut him off
Palomo turned around, and looked at the hillside where he fell. "Oh, Captain sir! I uh found someone down here!" Palomo replied
"Oh shit! Is it the Feds?" asked the voice, slightly concerned
"Negative! Come down here please! I think they know you!" he replied, Palomo then turned back to the huntsmen. "Sorry, that was my CO. Maybe he can help."
"Hey is it me, or does his voice sound familiar guys?" Yang asked her friends about the CO.
"Yeah." replied Ruby, "It kinda sounded like-" But before Ruby could finish her sentence, Palomo's CO arrived.
"Alright Palomo who did you find? This better be good, I already lost Cunningham, and Ro...gers."
The CO stopped talking upon seeing what Palomo found. He first looked at Ruby, and the others. As for them, their jaws dropped at who they saw.
It was Tucker.
He looked different from the last time they saw him. He still wore aqua-colored armor, however it was much more bulkier. It was also cleaner, and his visor was now a reddish-orange. He carried a rifle in his hand, similar to the one Palomo was holding. Connected to his thigh, was the hilt for his energy sword.
"Ho-ly shit." Tucker said
"TUCKER!" Ruby shouted as she dashed over to him with her semblance, knocking him onto the ground. "It's you. It's really you!"
"Ruby?" he said, but she didn't answer.
"Did you miss me!?" she asked hugging him
"Ruby?" he asked again, slightly louder. "You're squeezing me to death."
"Oh sorry!" she said, as she let go of the aqua soldier.
"Man, I never thought I'd see you guys again." Tucker muttered, "How long has it been for you guys?"
"About a week or two." Pyrrha replied, "How about you?"
"Uh that depends. Palomo what day is it?" he asked his soldier
"Today is Tuesday." he replied
"Oh, then it's been over a year." Tucker answered, which confused them.
"Wait. How has a year passed for you but not for us?" Jaune questioned
"Time works differently here." replied Ruby, to which Jaune nodded at.
"So, where's everyone else?" Tucker asked them, "No Blake? Nora? Not even Ice Queen?"
"We don't know what happened." Yang explained, "They're just one, but they could somewhere on...Chorus right?"
"Yep that's the name." Palomo said to her
That's not good!" Tucker started panicking
"Why what's wrong?" Pyrrha asked
"Come with me, and I'll explain." replied the aqua soldier. Tucker then turned around and a static sound came from his helmet. "Hey Felix, this is Tucker. Take the warthog back to base." Tucker spoke through the coms.
"What!?" cried a voice, "What about you and Palomo?"
"Don't worry about us. I found some…" Tucker then looked at four huntsmen, then went back to speaking. "...friends just go!" A loud groan could be heard from the radio.
"Ugh fine. Just hurry back! You've already caused enough trouble." said the voice
"Yeah fuck you to buddy." Tucker said sarcastically. He then turned back to the huntsmen, and Palomo.
"Alright, let's get moving. It'll be dark soon." he said
"What about are friends, and where are we going?" asked Jaune
"We're going to the New Republic." said Palomo.
