Hello. Thanks for choosing this book to read, I hope you like and enjoy it.
"Give me a dark seductive look, just like that." Series of flashing and shutter sounds interrupted the music that was playing at the background. "Perfect. I want a possessive look now, move your left leg back a little bit. Magnificent." Another series of shutter sounds and flashing lights.
After a whole hour of blinding lights and being forced into various awkward positions, the photoshoot was finally over and Gaara could put on his shirt again. He didn't quite like the lingering feeling of eyes on his torso.
"Gaara!" A familiar voice stopped his progression to the exit. Gaara turned around to give audience to his caller even though he would most likely refuse her offer. "Would you like to get lunch together?"
"I'm sorry, I have plans." Gaara gave her a kiss on the cheek as an afterthought and left without another word and before his obsessed girlfriend could say any further thing.
After his first major and foreign role in the drama directed by Maito Gai along with star actors Hyuga Neji and Tenten, Gaara suddenly quit acting and seemingly disappeared from the face of earth. Many fans who were hoping to see the handsome new face again in another drama were greatly disappointed.
Speculations and theories about his disappearance arose from every where and all media houses tried to get a cover on his story but it was impossible. The next time anyone heard news of the Sunan TV star was at scriptwriter Uzumaki Naruto's wedding with Hyuga Hinata which was a year after his disappearance.
Gaara had come back as a model though, and not a celebrity but fans were happy to see him nevertheless. That summary was just what the media said about him though. In truth, Gaara quit acting because he needed to sort his emotions out.
That was funny coming from a man of few emotions such as himself but Gaara needed the break. It had not been easy getting over Tenten, he still wasn't but the feeling of hurt was more bearable now than before. Gaara seldom talked and became really standoffish, even worse than before, but he didn't care.
In an attempt to get over his feelings for Tenten, Gaara had accepted the love confession of one of his coworkers and they began dating. It didn't take too long to realise that the relationship between them would never work out because Gaara could not help but compare his girlfriend to Tenten.
Borami was a beautiful and good woman, Gaara was sorry for using her as a rebound, he still is, but they were just not compatible. It didn't help that Borami was clingy and demanding however, Gaara tried his best to be a good boyfriend.
Recently though, he found himself making excuses to get away from her. He had to break up with her before things got complicated. His black car pulled into the hotel Gaara alighted from it. It had been a long and tiring day, all he wanted for was to sleep till the next day. Unfortunately, aside from his chronic insomnia he also had a dinner party to prepare for.
Normally Gaara would not care about attending company dinners or parties in general. It was because of Borami, that was why Gaara was attending the party. He saw it as an opportunity though, to break up with her that is. She could drink away her sorrows afterwards or most probably slap him hard on the face in front of everybody. Gaara preferred the latter to happen.
That way, everyone would know that they broke up and she won't disturb him with her obsession for him again. His whole afternoon was spent lounging in his apartment and tending to his cacti until it was finally time for the party. After a quick shower, Gaara threw on a pale blue tank top and a pair of jeans that were ripped at the knees.
He didn't bother with his hair because it was a hopeless cause, he just ran a comb through it and applied kohl around his eyes to hide his prominent eye bags. In fifteen minutes, Gaara grabbed a jacket and was out the door. He had to pick up Borami from her place before driving to the venue.
"What's going on with you?" Borami wrung her hands around his waist and leaned her head on his shoulder. Gaara didn't like physical contact but he had come to get used to his soon to be ex's clinginess. "You've been so quiet lately, even for you." Her concern was evident in her voice as she spoke.
"A lot has been going on in my mind lately and I'm just tired." Gaara answered honestly.
"Oh? No wonder why you look distraught." Borami released him but her next actions seemed dubious. "I have just the perfect solution for you." A seductive grin lit her features as she removed a small pill bottle from her purse. Gaara raised a brow. "This'll make you feel good and help you relax."
Borami dumped two pills into Gaara's drink. The redhead watched as the substance diffused and mixed with his drink. He wasn't naive, he knew what Borami was giving him to drink but he found himself taking the cup of booze from her hands and downing it.
The reaction was instant. Gaara felt lightheaded as if his head was in the clouds, floating away from the rest of his body. "Relaxing, isn't it?" He vaguely registered Borami's voice and hands on his body. That's right, he needed to break up with her. Unfortunately, he was too high to form coherent words or any words at all.
How strong was the shit Borami gave him anyway? Gaara could see fine and hear fine, but his body functions seemed to have switched places. It was like he could smell through his ears. He wanted to sleep. He wanted to fly.
"Gaara?!" Borami exclaimed. Her face looked confused and afraid and hurt and a lot more emotions that Gaara's hazed mind could not decipher. Did he say something? Oh yes he did. He finally broke up with her. "You're just saying this under the influence..." Borami was shocked that her plan was backfiring on her.
Gaara was supposed to be all over her, not breaking up with her!
"M not. I've been planning to tell you for quite some while now." If not for the grammar mistakes in Gaara's sentence, any normal person would believe that he was in the right state of mind. "Now excuse me, I have to fly home. That sounds wrong. Fly?"
The slap that the redhead received next was expected and it drew a lot of attention like Gaara wanted. Even in his hazed mind, he could realise that Borami's temper was working for his good.
"You're just under the influence! You can't be breaking up with me!" Whispers exploded at the exclamation while Gaara turned to face a coworker.
"Do I look like I'm high?" He asked.
"No?" The man was unsure how to answer.
"There you have it. M sorry we had to end this way but you and I are not conductable. That sounds wrong." Gaara left the place and went to his car. It was good that Borami didn't follow him because he was not willing to talk. The sound of his ringtone reached his ears and Gaara searched for the device making the noise.
He checked his pocket three times before finding the phone in the same pocket. This is why you shouldn't do drugs, kids.
"Moshi?" Gaara mumbled after picking the call.
"Hello little brother." A voice Gaara missed so much spoke from the other line.
"Temari." It had been a while since he last saw his sister and it was all his fault. He just ostracized himself from everyone.
"Do you know the hoops I went through just to get your personal phone number? I had to threaten your PA!" Temari yelled into the phone. "It's been so long and I missed you. How are you doing?" The sisterly softness of her voice drove Gaara to tears (drugs).
Several flashbacks of he and his siblings turned Gaara into a sobbing mess (drugs again). "I'm sorry, I just..." His speech was cut short by a wave of nausea.
"Are you okay, Gaara?" Temari asked in concern.
"I'm fine, I'd call you later."
"Ga-!"
Temari's protests were cut short as Gaara left the car and looked for a bathroom. When he found one, he locked himself in a stall and dug his fingers inside his throat to induce his gag reflex. After minutes of emptying his stomach, Gaara rinsed his mouth and returned to his car. He called his PA to drive him out of the place because he was in no condition to drive without ramming into a lamppost.
As promised, once he got home he called Temari back. "What was that about? Are you okay?" His sister's concerned voice spoke once the call went through.
"M not fined. Fine. Temari, I feel really empty and I'm just a mess." And Gaara proceeded to tell Temari all about his upside down life and how his attempts to get over Tenten failed.
"You know what I think?" Temari said. "I think you should leave everything and go back to Suna. Give yourself a break because you really need it. Don't think about anything and just relax with the sand and dessert flowers."
"But–"
"No buts." Temari's voice spoke finality and firmness. "And besides you should visit Kankuro and I once in a while."
"I thought you moved in with your boyfriend, what was his name again?" Gaara mumbled.
"Shikamaru. And I am in Suna to help Kankuro with the company." Temari replied. "I must see you at the airport in a week or else!" Temari left her threat hanging. Even without the threat, Gaara was planning on taking his sister's advice.
Maybe the change in scenery and the familiar atmosphere of his homeland would soothe him some.
