Smallville- Earth 1
Chapter 1
-Earth 94-
Lois was running down an empty hallway, the lights were off and it was dark out. She ducked into an empty room as footsteps began to draw near. "Oh Lois, you really stepped in it this time," she said as she knelt by the door. The footsteps stopped on the outside of the door.
"Where is Superman when you need him?" She whispered to herself.
Hearing the footsteps come toward the door, she moved through a door on the other side of the room. She suddenly found herself in a lab. "Lane's here somewhere, find her1" she heard a voice call out.
She ducked behind a machine when she heard a second set of footsteps come toward the room she was in. When the door opened, a man with a gun walked into the room. "Come out Lane!" another voice said as it entered the room.
She covered her mouth, trying not to make a sound. Without noticing she hit a switch, activating the machine she was currently hiding behind. The lights to the room came on. "Come on out! We know you're there!"
Lois stepped out onto a platform connected to the machine with her hands up. "If you shoot me you can bet Superman isn't going to be very happy."
"Where are the files you stole Lane?" a man demanded to know. The two men that were with him had their guns pointed at her.
Just then, a giant metal orb connected to the machine began to glow. The platform that Lois was standing on glowed as well. The room suddenly became engulfed in a bright flash of light. After it was over, the light faded and the machine died down, and lois was gone.
-Earth 1-
A bright light flashed in the middle of the street in Metropolis. When it faded, Lois looked around to see where she was at. The first thing she noticed was that she was away from those men. The second was that a car was headed right for her. She screamed, knowing she was about to get hit.
In a flash, she found herself in an alley away from traffic. She looked and saw that she had been rescued by a man in a black. The one thing that stood out most to her was a familiar S on his chest. When she looked at his face, he looked nothing like the Superman that she knew.
"Who are you"? She asked. "And why are wearing that S? That is Superman's S."
Clark looked puzzled for a moment. "I'm called the Blur. Who is Superman? And who are you? I was told about a disturbance in space. That flash of light, was that you?"
"The Blur? Never heard of you." Lois said. "Who is Superman? You should know, you are wearing his symbol? As for who I am, I'm Lois, Lois Lane."
Clark took a step back, not believing her. "Is this some kind of joke? Whoever you are, you are not Lois. I know Lois."
"What? That can't be right. I'm Lois. Wait, where are we?"
"We're in Metropolis. I don't know who you are but Lois has been missing for weeks. If you know where she is, I want to know now." Clark said, starting to get serious.
"Missing?" Lois asked, confused." I am Lois Lane and I can prove it."
She pulled out her driver's license. As well as her press ID. She handed them to Clark and he looked them over. He went from serious back to confused. "How can you be Lois? You don't look anything like the Lois Lane I know."
"What is the last thing you remember? How did you get here and what was that light?"
Lois took a breath and then explained. "I was investigating a story on one of Lex Luthor's old projects. Something he never made public."
"Lex?" Clark wondered aloud. The Lex Luthor he knew was dead, killed by Oliver. "Go on."
"It was a project involving inter-dimensional travel." Lois said as she crossed her arms. "I snuck into the lab where all the research was being kept. I stole some files, but I didn't know that there were still people in the building. They chased me with guns. I accidently activated the machine before they found me and now here I am."
"Inter-dimensional travel? Are you saying that you are from another earth?"
"Well, that would make sense. It actually explains this whole situation. Me not knowing who you are. You, thinking that I'm not Lois. Oh, great, I really did travel to another earth didn't I?" Lois dropped her arms and exhaled.
"Alright look," Clark said as she turned to him. "We'll figure this out. You obviously can't stay here so we just need to try and find a way back to your earth."
"How," she asked.
"I don't know yet. But I promise you, I'll do whatever I can." He said.
Lois nodded, "The Blur, huh? Who came up with that?"
Clark couldn't help but laugh. "Well it was the Red Blue Blur, but that got to be a mouthful."
"Well since you don't have anywhere to stay, I guess you can stay with me. That is if you want to." He offered. "You know, at least until we can figure this out."
Lois thought it over for a minute. "Well I don't suppose I'm going back home tonight. Alright, I guess so."
"Really," Clark asked, surprised. "You're going to trust me just like that? Why?"
"Well because, if you wear that symbol then I have a feeling you are someone I can trust. I know one other person who wears that symbol and he is the most trustworthy man on the planet," Lois said.
Clark was taken aback. Not saying anything, he picked her up and used his super speed to take her back to the farm in Smallville. Setting her down on the front porch, she looked around. "You live on a farm?"
"Yeah, I grew up here with my parents. Hey Shelby," He said as they walked through the door. "I bet you're hungry."
Lois watched as he super sped the dog some food before heading up the stairs to change out of his outfit and into some casual clothes before speeding back down. The first thing that went through her head was that this superhero now seemed like just a regular guy.
"Are you hungry? I can go get you something. I'd offer you something from the fridge but I don't stay here very much these days."
"I guess you must stay busy with all the saving you must do. Say, why didn't you just fly us here? I assume you are from Krypton too, right?" Lois asked.
That caught Clark by surprise. "I uh, I don't know how to fly yet. How do you know about Krypton? And this symbol?"
"Superman," Lois said. "He is from Krypton. On my earth, he saves people every day. And gives them hope. "
"I've been in short supply of hope lately," Clark said, looking down.
"Why?" Lois asked softly. "What happened?"
"I put my trust in someone I shouldn't have. I've always tried to believe in the good of humanity. That deep down, everyone was worth saving." Clark turned his back to her and walked a few steps in the other direction. "A friend died. And it wasn't a monster that killed him; it was a human."
"If I had only seen it sooner. If I hadn't put humanity on a pedestal, he might still be alive."
"I'm sorry about your friend." She said sympathetically. "That couldn't have been easy to tell to a complete stranger. I'm sorry if I'm prying."
"I don't know," Clark said softly as he turned to her. "I guess you really are Lois from another earth. I just feel like I can talk to you."
"You never said if you were hungry. I can go get you something if you want."
"That's okay," Lois said. "I think I'm just going to turn in for tonight."
"Okay, you can take my parent's old room." He said as he showed her where it was. "I'll be upstairs if you need anything."
"Thank you," Lois said. "For everything."
"Don't worry. I will, help you get back to your earth." He gave her a smile before they both went to bed. Lois looked around the room that she was going to be using. She saw some old pictures of a man and a woman with what looked like a younger version of the man upstairs. She then came to an old birthday card. What stood out to her the most, was the name Kent.
