"Princess." My bodyguard, Jasper, said.
I took the hand that he offered me, and got into the royal blue carriage.
"Thank you, Sir Jasper." I said, giggling.
He chuckled, and went to sit next to the driver in the front.
I leaned my head against the wall, thinking as the carriage started.
I was homeschooled until I went to College at the University of Cambridge for three years. I had to beg my dad to let me go.
I fell in love with Edward Cullen, Prince of Wales, heir to the throne of England. I gave him my love, my heart, and I thought he gave me his. But he didn't. To him, I was just a playtoy. Something to play with before he became King. In the end, he chose his country over me. And when I finished my studies, I went back to mine.
The only people that knew what happened were Alice, Emmett and Jasper. They kept it a secret.
Ever since I was a little girl, I've always wanted to be Queen. Queen of France, not some other county. But since I was born second, two years after Emmett, I wouldn't be able to, not unless something happened to Emmett. But I didn't want anything to happen to my big brother. I loved him so much. I always wondered what would have happened if I told Edward about my status. Would he have kept me around? Could I have been a Queen?
We took a short route. All cars and busses were blocked for today. I waved as we passed certain places and people. It always astounded me how a simple gesture would light up their day. I scanned the crowd waving. I spotted a little girl on her father's arms with flowers.
"Do we have room for two?" I asked Jasper.
"What are you up to?" he asked me with narrowed eyes. I gestured with my eyes to where I was going. He gave me a disapproving glance before whistling the carriage to a stop. As soon as I got down from the carriage, people went quiet, well quieter, seeing as they were now murmuring. I walked gracefully toward her. Her little fingers extended the flowers to me.
"Are those for me?" I asked and she nodded. I gently took them from her arms and smelt them.
"Princesse." her father said with a respectful bow. I smiled at him
"Join me in my carriage?" I asked and he nodded. I took the little girls arms and together we entered and continued the ride
"What's your name?" I asked her
"Annie." she answered.
I smiled at her, while she told me everything she knew. She asked for my crown. Her father scolded her. I told him it was alright, she could wear it in the carriage. He thanked me and apologized again, but I waved him off.
Annie was delightful. I was enjoying their company. Jasper offered them some snacks that were placed for me, they accepted. However when it was time for them to go, I was a bit sad. I left the girl with a kiss on the cheek as her father returned my crown to Jasper.
"Romano will escort you home." I said as we reached palace grounds.
"Thank you Princesse." he said.
As soon as they were out of earshot Jasper spoke "Your compassion I admire."
"Thank you, Jazzy."
I went upstairs to my room.
Since the king and Queen now share a room, I stay in the Queen's apartment, which I had remodeled. A bedchamber, library, living area, bathroom, walk-in-closet, and a study. All completely redone.
Emmett stays in the Dauphin apartment, though the rooms are no longer connected.
The walls are now a lavender floral, that matches the bedspread of the King bed. The king bed has dark lavender curtains blocking you from the sun, and white pillows. There's a TV. The wooden floor has a gigantic light blue and gold rug. There are three hanging chandeliers, and a vanity with a tall mirror.
The bathroom is very modern, with a working shower, Jacuzzi bathtub, a toilet, and a long vanity. The walls are gold, the floor white tile.
The study is light blue themed, with a big cherry desk, a royal throne chair, a harp, and a couch in the nook in the wall. The library's walls are covered in shelves of books behind glass, with wooden floors. The living room has the same walls and floors as the bedroom, only with white couches, and a fireplace. My closet is controlled by a remote control.
Each room has wooden floors, and plugs throughout. Like I said...very modern, but with a touch of the old Versailles.
After an hour, I headed over to the library. I grabbed the book, "Emma" by Jane Austin, and settled down to start reading.
This is book two of "A royal college love story"
