Signers Locked Down

Chapter 1: Stocking Up

Coronavirus was running rampant in New Domino City, the Satellite and Crash Town, cafeterias, restaurants, cinemas, museums, pubs, clubs and all non-essential shops had been ordered to close. All duelling events had been postponed until further notice, along with the cancellation of performances and stage productions. Duel Academy had closed its doors literally within half an hour of the virus's arrival. However, supermarkets were allowed to stay open and restaurants were still open for takeaway service.

Duellists from the Satellite, City and Crash Town alike had been driving all over the place on their Duel runners to stock up. The stock up was in the event of a yearlong lockdown. However, nobody really knew what would happen in that event.

In the Tops Area of New Domino City, the twins Leo and Luna were having the older signers stay with them as their parents were away almost all the time. The older signers were looking after them while preparing themselves in the event of lockdown.

"I don't know how long the lockdown will be, so we'll need to start stocking up as soon as possible." Yusei Fudo told everyone.

"You're right, Yusei we'll need to get as much food and drink as we can." Jack Atlas responded.

"Yes, Jack, supermarkets are open."

Akiza Izinski, listening to all this decided to take involvement as well.

"Perhaps we can start stocking up today."

"That's exactly what I mean, Akiza, we'll need to start today."

"What's the plan?"

"I'll be going to the supermarket to buy pasta, sauces, meat and vegetables."

"I'm going as well; we'll need to move quick."

"You can count me in."

Crow Hogan was quick to join in the conversation.

"We'll need to get moving as soon as possible."

"I know, Crow."

"Are we going to the supermarket?"

"We're going right now."

Yusei, Jack, Crow and Akiza quickly set off to the supermarket, before they designated into separate aisles to fill up their shopping baskets. The shopping baskets were full to the brim with food items that were to be taken back.

The four older signers now met and queued up in the line, all waiting to be served so they could pay up and leave.

One by one, the queue dwindled slowly but surely and soon just Yusei, Jack, Crow and Akiza were left.

All of them contributed their way to pay the money, before stepping outside where they put the shopping onto the Duel runners and rode back to the Tops Area.

After they got home, the older signers, with the exception of Akiza, who had walked her female long haired black bicolour German Shepherd Dog Willow, got off their duel runners and Yusei rang the bell. It wasn't long before Luna opened the door, she looked both curious and concerned as she met the others.

"How did it go?"

"We've managed to stock up as best we can, Luna."

"I really hope there isn't a lockdown."

"I do too, but even if there is, we will get through this."

Akiza noticed the anxiety in Luna's green gold eyes, and without thinking she wrapped her arm round the younger signer, the burgundy haired signer saw Luna as the younger sister that she never had.

"Listen, Luna, it's really not easy to predict what will happen, especially with the virus running rampant and I hope there isn't a lockdown either but at the same time it may have to be done, but even if there is, I can assure you that you're not alone because we're all in the same house and we're in this together so I'm certain we will get through this."

Luna started to cry, she wrapped her arms round Akiza, who in turn reciprocated and held her and rubbed her back.

"What's wrong, Luna?"

"I-I-I'm scared of lockdown, Yusei."

"Luna, don't be afraid, I know it's not ideal but even if it does happen, it'll be for the best and we're not in separate houses and we're altogether, there's tons of things we can all do as a team and to keep us busy and that's not all we can still go out together."

"I guess so, Yusei." Sobbed Luna.

"Anyway, let's start putting the shopping away."

Yusei led everyone into the kitchen, they went through the bags and sorted out the shopping, taking care to put it away in the right places. Even Luna, who had now calmed down thanks to Akiza, got involved along with Leo.

"Well now the shopping has been put away, shall we relax?"

"I think we should as it's been a hard day of shopping."

"It has but at least we're stocked up."

The older signers and the twins filled the living room and sat down.

Leo quickly turned on the television to see if any duelling events were still on. Of course, some were but most had been cancelled. However, more bleak news had come, another one thousand, seven hundred and twenty-five people had died from coronavirus, along with ten thousand more cases, Luna was devastated at this news and it increased her fear of lockdown.
