"Chuuya! Stop this already!"
Tachihara shouted desperately toward his comrade as he watched in horror as a shorter male with reddish orange hair went flying through the air, only to crash into a nearby tree. A loud cry, more like a scream was heard once the shorter male had hit the ground, followed by the sight of a large chunk of dirt being hurled in the opposite direction. How had things gotten this bad? It had started out as such a simple mission, and now they were all in a huge amount of trouble. In their current situation, they were in a battle with a new organization that had formed within a week, consisting of powerful gifted people who either had a grudge against the Port Mafia or the Armed Detective Agency. Their goal was to erase both organizations that way they could run the town their own way. This had been a trap set to catch them off guard, but of course they knew it was a trap. There was no way this group wanted something as simple as a truce, and Mori knew that all too well, which was exactly why he had sent out his most powerful members to try and deal with these bastards. Now, they were in a tight spot.
"Chuuya! Enough already! Don't you fucking dare do it!" Tachihara shouted out again as he watched his shorter comrade emerge from the dust, his gloves had been removed and there was a wild look in his fierce blue eyes. Tachihara knew that look all too well. He knew exactly what Chuuya was planning to do...but without Dazai here, this was practically suicide for him.
"We don't have a choice, Tachihara! We have to let him do this!" Akutagawa shouted back, holding an unconscious Higuchi in his arms. She had been knocked out by a gifted with incredible speed. None of them had seen it coming until they had already hit her. At this point, they were all running out of energy. The only ones in the current group with actual gifts were Akutagawa, Hirotsu, and Chuuya. The others were all ungifted, but did well with firearms and of course they had Gin, who was a trained assassin, but even she was having a difficult time sneaking up on these guys.
"If we let him do this, he's going to fucking die! Dazai isn't here to stop him!" Tachihara argued, but he was quickly silenced by a harsh bonk to the back of his head. Growling softly, he started to turn and yell at whoever hit him, only to silence himself when he found himself looking at Chuuya's beaten up face. His clothes were torn, hat missing, and his hair a complete mess, yet he still held that confident smile on his face, despite what he was about to do.
"Enough. This is our best option, and if it means keeping your dumbasses safe, then I'm going for it. If I know that idiot, he's already on his way but who knows when he'll get here… We could all be dead before he arrives, and that's something I'd rather avoid." Chuuya spoke in a surprisingly calm tone, as if he were expecting Tachihara to just let him do this to himself. Clenching his fist, Tachihara pushed his beaten body up to a sitting position, only to reach out and catch Chuuya's wrist before he could completely walk away.
"You can't fucking do this to yourself! It isn't worth it!" He couldn't allow this to happen. He couldn't just sit back and let Chuuya throw his life away, but before he could argue anymore, a hand came down and grasped onto the hood of his green colored jacket.
"It's going to provide us a chance to fall back, Tachihara… We don't have a choice." This time, it was Hirotsu who had made his way over, despite his body being practically beaten to a pulp. He was definitely a tough old man, but he was just as drained as everyone else. Hauling Tachihara's battered body up to a standing position, the older man turned his attention toward Chuuya, only to give him a nod. Even he was uneasy about this, but this was the only chance they had. As he started to drag Tachihara away, he felt the ginger starting to struggle in his grasp, only to cause them both to hit the ground.
"Chuuya...don't do it!" Tachihara tried one last desperate attempt to keep Chuuya from doing something so reckless, but all he got in return was a slight wave over the shoulder as the shorter male made his way back to where the enemy was.
"Granters of dark disgrace...you need not wake me again…" Those words...once they were spoken, it was done. Power started to surge through Chuuya's small form, his eyes went from blue to more of a feral look, red marks appeared down his arms and on his face, showing the true nature of his gift… Corruption. Under him, the ground erupted as he pushed himself into the air, charging directly at the enemy organization.
In his corrupted form, he was at full power but he had absolutely no control over himself. This meant he would attack in a blind rage until he completely ran out of energy, which would lead to his death. Under normal circumstances, he would never use this form, especially not without Dazai around. Dazai's nullification ability was the only thing that could stop his rampage, and without that idiot around, this would surely be Chuuya's last fight, but that was fine. He wouldn't have it any other way if it meant protecting his fellow comrades.
"It didn't have to be like this you idiots! Why the hell did you let him use that form!?" Tachihara was still pissed as he and the others watched from the sidelines while Chuuya proceeded to fight against their enemy. He didn't understand why the others hadn't tried to stop the other when they had the chance. Surely this wasn't the only way for them to get to safety.
"In that form, he can single handedly take down an entire enemy organization. He and Dazai were an unstoppable duo, but Dazai isn't here and Chuuya was aware of the risk. He had already planned this from the beginning." Hirotsu spoke in a low tone as he leaned himself against the trunk of a nearby tree. "I overheard him discussing it with Mori before he came to assemble us. Of course the boss did express his concerns, but Chuuya's mind was already made up. This was our final trump card, one I really hoped we didn't have to use, but…" His voice trailed off as his gaze shifted toward the rest of their battered team. Akutagawa was drained and coughing like crazy from overusing Rashoumon, most of their gunmen were either wounded or near death, Gin was badly injured on her right arm and her side, and of course Higuchi was still unconscious and looking paler than normal. As for himself, he tried not to show his exhaustion, but he was becoming difficult to hide it any longer. He was getting far too old to be doing this much in one night.
Tachihara growled lowly as he fixed his amber colored eyes back on their comrade and the battle he was fighting on his own. His eyes widened slightly, seeing the state that Chuuya was already in. Blood was dripping from his mouth, nose and head, plus it looked like he was starting to pant really hard. Time was running out...and he didn't think there was anything that could be done about it. Kouyou was going to be heartbroken if Chuuya ended up dying on them. She had taken him in, practically treated him like family and now she was probably going to lose him just like she had lost Kyouka. Granted the girl wasn't dead, but she had left the Port Mafia and joined up with the Armed Detective Agency. He didn't want to see her cry again if she were told that Chuuya was gone.
"Dammit…" He mumbled softly, only to slam his fist on the ground once he saw Chuuya coughing up blood. Time was running out...and the only person who could save the other's life was nowhere in sight.
"So, what seems to be the situation?" A rather familiar voice suddenly asked from behind Tachihara. Jumping in surprise, he whips his head around, only to find himself staring into a pair of rather large brown eyes that looked far too bright for a man who was once in the Port Mafia, a very deadly man at that. Wait-this was…
"Dazai! Fuck man, you have to do something and quickly!" Tachihara suddenly shouted out, taking the brunette by surprise.
"What's got you all…-" Dazai didn't even finish his sentence. His gaze had fallen on the battle, and more importantly a small male with long orange hair who was currently flying through the air, throwing gravity balls, and a bunch of other things at their enemy, sending them all screaming with fear as if they had never seen anything more terrifying. Dazai's usual bright gaze suddenly turned dark as he looked back at the beaten members of the Port Mafia. Such a gaze had everyone cringing slightly. They knew this man was completely pissed that they had allowed Chuuya to do something this foolish.
"If he dies on me...I'm blaming every single one of you for not stopping him before he did this…" His usual upbeat tone sounded just as dark as his gaze. Every member of the Port Mafia knew this was how Dazai got whenever he was angered. Before any of them could even explain, the brunette turned and ran toward the ongoing fight. He had to get his hands on Chuuya before time ran out, but at this rate, he feared that he would be too late. How could they let him go through with this when he hadn't even been here!? Were they all a bunch of idiots!? That's exactly what it seemed like! Even if Dazai managed to nullify Chuuya's corrupted form, there was no guarantee that he would live through this.
"Chuuya!" Dazai suddenly shouted out, seeing the smaller male smacked into a nearby tree. It was hard enough to leave a shallow crater in the ground. This was exactly the chance Dazai needed. As Chuuya slowly got back to his feet, he started to stumble as he tried to make his way back toward the ongoing battle. By now, his face was coated in blood, his body was beaten to a pulp and his complexion looked way too pale, probably from all the blood loss.
Just as the ginger crouched down to jump back at the enemy, Dazai lept toward the smaller male, catching him by the waist right as he had pushed off the ground. The moment Dazai got his hands on Chuuya, everything went silent. The smaller male's form froze for a moment before a small groan was heard. Slowly, Dazai knelt himself down, bringing Chuuya to the ground with him so he could examine the smaller male. To his surprise, he could still see Chuuya's exhausted blue eyes staring back at him, almost looking relieved. For the moment, he was still alive. His clothes were ripped up even more and his hair looked like a trainwreck, but the main point was that he was still breathing.
"I...knew you would make it...you fucking dumbass…" A snarky grin appeared on Chuuya's tired face, but it quickly faded away as he coughed up more blood. The internal damage must have been greater than it normally was. That meant they weren't in the clear yet. They still had to get back to the Port Mafia, and quickly.
"You're the idiot, chibi...but we can discuss this later. Just hang in there for me…" Dazai's tone had gone back to a gentle one as he held Chuuya securely. With trembling hands, Dazai carefully adjusted the smaller male in his arms before rising to his feet. Taking one last glance at the ginger, he caught a glimpse of one last grin before unconsciousness took over the smaller male. Not only that but…it seemed that he had stopped breathing all together. Dazai's heart practically stopped, his brown eyes growing wide with concern.
"Shit! Chuuya hang in there!"
