Wendy Darling was someone most people in her class knew. She would often be seen rushing towards her classes, books clutched close to her chest. If she wasn't fliting around campus you could see her sitting in a small cubby in the library, headphones in, the world around her a haze, the end of a pencil between her teeth as she contemplated things her classmates would never know. She was on the path to being their class valedictorian and everyone knew it. Besides the fact her nose was always buried in her books, her classmates knew her as a kind teacher. She often gave her classmates constructive criticism and spoke in a manner that made people want to listen.
Today Wendy was found sitting in a lounge chair in the library, fingers skimming pages of poetry. She again was away from the real world, fully immersed in rhymes and metaphors. The only thing that was able to shake her from this trace was her roommate pulling a headphone from her ear. "Found you Wendy!" Her cheerful voice rang.
Wendy's roommate was none other than Tink La'Belle. It was often a wonder to those who knew them how they were friends in the first place. Wendy was very academic, Tink was... well Tink was not. Tink was popular amongst the senior class. She was the president of the school's most elite sorority Nu Pi. She was known to always beat to her own drum, constantly seemed to be dancing to music no one else could hear. Like Wendy she was always in her own world, yet her world was much different from the younger girls.
They had met right before Wendy's first year at Storybrooke University. Wendy had wanted to check out the school and they offered a shadow a student program. As luck would have it she was matched up with wild freshman Tink. She was patient with Wendy's constant questions and treated her with nothing but kindness. Wendy admired her, despite her academic failures. She saw Tink for who she was, a shining light. Someone who brought hope and confidence in all those lucky enough to be close to her. After their shadowing Tink had taken a great liking to Wendy. She saw a lot of potential in her, she thought she seemed a bit nerdy but her passion was unmatched. She had made sure to seek her out the next year to be her guide. She wanted to take Wendy under her wing. She allowed Wendy to help her with her schoolwork as long as Wendy allowed her to attempt to push her out of her comfort zone. By Wendy's junior year the two had rented an apartment together which they shared with an adorable kitten.
"I didn't know you were looking for me," Wendy laughed, she held the pages open for a moment while she looked for her bookmark. It was a rather cute one that Michael had made her when she used to read them stories nightly. Though it was many years ago it was something she treasured. She placed it between the pages gently and closed the book. "You obviously haven't been keeping track of the time. It's 11, on a Friday Wendy!" Wendy rolled her eyes, if Tink was going to try to drag her to a party tonight she had another thing coming. "I was trying to get some reading done early."
"Well, since you're already doing work ahead of time..." Wendy didn't even let her finish, "I'm not going to a party tonight Tink. I'm tired." Tink pouted plopping down on the arm rest of the chair, "Well lucky for you, it's not tonight. It's tomorrow!" Wendy raised an eyebrow at her enthusiastic roommate. "Come in Wendy, Lambda Beta is throwing a party and they said I can bring my cute sourpuss of a roommate!"
Lambda Beta was the school's most known fraternity. They were wild and reckless, and all seemed to follow the every word of their president, who Wendy had the pleasure to have never met. They were often referred to boys instead of men. She was never one to party, except when Tink dragged her out, shouting things about her needing to "get out of the apartment". Their first summer living together Tink had managed to get Wendy out of her shell maybe once every two weeks. Now with the semester finally starting this week the frats and sororities were starting up their big first week parties. She managed to avoid Lambda Beta parties though. She knew that they were the type of boys she wanted nothing to do with. The only boy she had ever had the pleasure of meeting was their vice president, Felix. He had become someone she would often catch glimpses of as he was leaving their apartment. He and Tink had some sort of thing going on. The few times they exchanged words he seemed pleasant enough. He was more of the tall quiet type Wendy had concluded, which made it even more of a wonder how he and Tink were compatible in any sense of the word. Yet when thinking about how Tink had gotten her to warm up to her the connection was slightly less of a wonder.
"You know I really don't enjoy the idea of going to Neverland," she huffed, crossing her arms at the blonde. Neverland became the known name of their house. It was rumored that being at a Lambda Beta party meant you were going to get so high it felt like you would never come down. The thought was a scary one, Wendy barely enjoyed drinking and the thought of any other drug turned her stomach. "But what if I promised to not leave your side, or that one of the Nu Pi girls would be with you at all times?" Her roommate batted her eyelashes and pouted. She had heard stories and the last place she'd ever be expected to be was Neverland. "How drunk and or high do you plan to get?" Wendy countered. If her roommate decided not to get utterly obliterated she would consider it. As much as she feigned interest she liked when Tink got her to go out. They always had a fun time, and if she was somewhat sober with her maybe she'd have a bit of fun. "Not too bad, I like to be somewhat sober when I see Felix," she shot the smaller woman a wink. Wendy contained her eye roll.
"Fine. I will come." Those words would be ones Wendy would soon come to regret, even if she didn't know it yet. "Yes!" Tink grabbed Wendy by the hand pulling her from the chair. "Then lets get home, I have about six different outfits I want your opinion on," Tink spoke as she dragged her friend away from the comfort of the library. Wendy laughed as she followed the blonde woman. Maybe this would be a good way to start the semester.
