"Well that was a boring mission." d'Artagnan complains as he and the other Musketeers are returning from delivering an invitation to one of the King's courtiers for an upcoming ball.

"And why were we delegated to be the messenger boys when there is a whole garrison filled with Musketeers and cadets practically falling over each other trying to find something to do?"

"d'Artagnan," Athos says, heaving a long-suffering sigh, "how many times, over how many years, have you been told that, as soldiers, and Musketeers, we follow orders and don't question those orders especially when they come directly from the King?" Glaring at his protégé until d'Artagnan grumbles something about "too many times to count." They then continue riding in silence.

As night starts falling the Musketeers decide to stop for the night at the inn they can see in the distance.

Entering the inn Aramis inquires about rooms for the night, "I have two rooms available Monsieur" the innkeeper informs him

"Thank you, we'll take them."

Returning to his brothers, who are taking care of the horses, he announces "We're in luck, there's two rooms available." Turning to Athos with a sly look on his face he adds "And I do believe it is your turn to share with our young Gascon here."

If looks could kill then Aramis would've been six feet under with the glare directed at him from Athos, "You're all heart." Athos snarks slapping the back of the marksman's head as he passes him.

Going into the room he's sharing with d'Artagnan, Athos is pleased to see that there is two beds, "At least I won't have to worry about getting pushed out of bed as d'Artagnan runs in his sleep." He mutters as he makes himself comfortable for the night.

When d'Artagnan joins him he finds Athos already fast asleep snoring quietly, shrugging his shoulders he gets himself ready for bed.

Several times throughout the night Athos is awoken by d'Artagnan's restlessness, even finding the young man on the floor having fallen out of his bed.

When the four Musketeers meet up in the dining room the next morning Porthos greets his brothers joyfully, "Did everyone sleep well?" He booms.

Looking totally exhausted both Athos and d'Artagnan reply "No!"

"Were the beds not to your liking?" Aramis innocently asks.

Athos answers by sending a death glare at d'Artagnan who's rubbing his eyes with the heel of his hands trying to wake himself up, "I kept having these really weird dreams" d'Artagnan yawns "in each one I was running away from something while holding onto my sword and main gauche."

Stretching his arms above his head to get the kinks out of his back d'Artagnan continues what he was saying "There was one where I was on this strange green island, everything was shaped like squares and there were giant spiders and square green monsters that moaned and groaned as it chased me."

Resting his head on his hand d'Artagnan doesn't see the look on his brothers faces as he keeps talking, "then there was the one where this huge yellow man was running at me and he kept saying 'D'oh' when he couldn't catch me."

Exchanging dumbfounded looks Porthos and Aramis listen in open mouthed shock, Athos mumbles something incoherently as he pours himself some wine.

"And then there was the one where a giant cat that looked just like one of the garrison cats, but he was wearing a weird red and white hat, was sneaking up on me and he was carrying a big bat of some description and he was just about to wallop me with it."

As d'Artagnan finishes speaking he's greeted with a shocked silence, until Athos grunts and pointing at Aramis and Porthos says "Next time one of you will share a room with d'Artagnan!"

Nb: This is not actually a crossover but I do mention a video game, a TV show and a movie.

d'Artagnan's first dream is about the video game Minecraft.

His second dream is about Homer from The Simsons.

And the last dream is The Cat In The Hat movie.
