Sonic the Hedgehog 3 & Knuckles
Chapter 1: A Mysterious Foe

A jewel of power. Two best friends, Sonic, known as the blue blur and Tails, a two tailed fox are travelling via Sonic's biplane, the Tornado.
"So Tails, why couldn't we just transform and fly our way over here? It's not too far away from Westside, would've been easy."
"For one thing Sonic, we have limited power. If we have to fight anyone it's best we're at full strength and for another, not everyone is as fast as you Sonic".
"Well I'm going, this isn't a speed boat by any means!". Sonic leaps from the Tornado, there's a flash of light and a split second later he's gone. Leaving only a high splash of water behind him.

"Ah! Nothing like a morning fly to exercise your wings." stretched the blue hedgehog, now with a pair of white translucent wings embroidered in green. Donning red shorts and a crop top with ripped sleeves. He heads toward a jungle on the once airbourne island, with its gateway being a silver beach. "So this is Angel Island, pretty cool place. I wonder what Eggman is plotting here." Sonic seethes at the mere thought of him. That gloating narcissistic Doctor, and he is going to find out just what he was up to. "Aha! His robots! Classic, traps animals in robotic bodies to power an army. Been there, done that." He leaps to the sky, ready to cast a spell at the metallic shell. Unbeknownst to him someone has taken notice of his arrival.

Sonic is caught off guard by a sudden punch to his face while airbourne. He sees a red mobian, not too much older than he is. The red creature is clothed in yellow and green with many black crescent moon shapes both on his chest and outfit.
"He warned me that you'd be here. No thief will ever get past me! I will have you know that I am Knuckles the Echidna and YOU are trespassing." the red being screams. If looks could kill Sonic would be dead ten times over.
"And what's it to you? You caught me off guard earlier but let's see you strike me when I can anticipate you!"

The high velocity hedgehog whizzes to the echidna's back.
"Sonic wind!" he cries. A small, blue tornado appears. Whipping Knuckles high into the air.
"Lunar drill!" Knuckles screams as he carines down to the surface at an incredible speed, seemingly unaffected by the atmosphere. Sonic takes a smug smirk and quickly moves out of the way. Knuckles' entire force, enhanced by the spell, takes Sonic completely by surprise, moving the very earth around a crater created by the force. Sonic finds himself on the beach before passing out from exhaustion.

"Sonic, Sonic wake up!" Tails' voice rings in Sonic's ears, it was trembling. He opened his eyes slowly, propping himself up.
"Oh, Tails? What happened..." he looks around, he was on a beach next to a jungle. "Oh I remember now, that red... what did he call himself now... echidna attacked me. He thinks I'm some sort of thief."
"Echidna? Are you sure Sonic? Echidnas have been assumed to be extinct for years now." Tails inquires.
"I'm sure of it, he calls himself Knuckles. I have a feeling that Eggman is pulling the strings here. C'mon, I saw robots in the Jungle. Let's transform and free those animals". There's a large dazzle of light as their regular outfits are replaced with glittering wings and clothes. Tails wears a blue and red crop top and pants with triangular glove cuffs and socks.
"Let's do it".

Tails flings himself in the sky, his twin tails increasing his velocity carried by his wings. "I'll take the higher path and you take the one below, according to my calculations we should meet up at around the same time. Given nothing slows one of us down".
"Sounds like a plan to me buddy!" Sonic speeds off into an intricate maze of trees and stone while Tails soars high into a test of his flight capabilities.

Tails goes around wiping out robots with whips of his Tails.
"Urgh, I feel useless here! I can't use my powers to interface with Eggman's technology. Why are my technology powers so weak that I can't even get info from a simple monkey bot!" he shouts to himself.
"Okay Tails calm down, you'll figure out what Eggman's planning in due time you can't get stuck on things not working right away." He goes upward onto a plateau when suddenly a spherical machine rises from out of the earth. It fires three missiles directly upwards and leaves as quickly as it came.
"Those missiles are gonna torch the whole forest if I don't do something, think, think, think. Polygonal arrow!" From Tails' hands an arrow seemingly in a wireframe emerges, aimed directly at the course of one of the missiles. It hits, detonating the missile before it can hit the ground. Tails attempts to fire more but it is already too late. One missile lands and the entire jungle is set alight.

"Wooho- whoa... FIRE!" Sonic scrambles to get the animals away.
"Okay this is an issue, maybe I can use my wind powers to put out the flames. It's worth a shot. Blue gale!" A powerful gust of wind spreads out in all directions from Sonic's body, shooting out in all directions.
"Ngh... you know, this isn't too hard!" the blue speedster gloats as the fire begins to fade.
"Phew! That was a close one, now to figure out how it happened in the first place. Huh?" The planetary machine rises from the earth to face sonic, opening two compartments. One is a passageway that protrudes out of the front of the object like a gun. The other fires the missiles from the top. Out of the gun-like protrusion a flame spouts which Sonic swiftly dodges.

"Aha! This is what caused the fire." Sonic smirks, he leaps into the air, curls into a shape that resembles a ball and slams himself into the metallic behemoth. It appears unphased.
"That's my best shot! Not even a dent, better use some magic to spice up this battle. Whirling hurricane!" Sonic attempts to focus as much energy as he can into the spell. Nothing happens.
"Oh shoot, still too inexperien- WHOA!" Sonic flings himself back, narrowly dodging the flames as they almost hit his chest.

"Alright, now it's on! Speeding gust!" Sonic makes a swift swiping motion with his hand, shooting out a blue-ish wind that dents the flamethrower.
"Yes! Direct attack, beat that ya stupid shell!" The metal menace turns again to face him, shooting three missiles directly upward from its top. Sonic knows he must act fast, those missiles were the reason why the jungle was set on fire earlier. He leaps to the sky.
"Blue gale!". A blast of wind energy aims directly at the three missiles at the exact point when they begin falling, pushing them directly into the machine with incredible force. The device explodes revealing the remains of a once menacing robotic failure.
"Gotta catch up with Tails." Sonic determines as he speeds off.

"I must find a way to put out the flames... I've got it, I need to get water from below ground up here." Tails deduces.
"Now, if I knew how to do that that would be nice. I'm going to have to scan this island for areas that have lots of water and figure it out from there. Scanning now." A small, holographic monitor appears before Tails and sends a signal out. Said signal collects information gathers information about all minerals in the general vicinity.
"Jackpot! There's a huge deposit of water right there, under a bridge." He then takes off.
"I have no time to waste".

"Tails!" Sonic cries out. "You went directly passed the meeting point, what's going on?" Sonic's panting as he dodges trees and rocks.
"I need to get water to put out the fire and I've detected tons of it right ahead! I'll use my magic!" Tails shouts.
"And... how will you do that? Water is not either of our elements."
"I'm doing a database scan for technical charms." A holographic. A blue screen appears as he puts his wrist to his front, as if he's looking at a watch.
"Technical charms? That's higher level magic that I've never seen anyone do before, mostly because I've lived by myself for most my life. So go for it buddy!"
He leaps toward a bridge and Tails follows suit.

"We're here, I think I've got one. The 'Liquid Rising' Spell. I've only seen it written down so pronunciation may be difficult." Tails exposites, as he begins the incantation a machine with their nemesis Eggman inside rises out of the water. Tails and Sonic quickly dodge a fireball thrown their way.
"Eggman! What's your plan this time?" Sonic exclaims, by the volume of his voice you'd be surprised his vocal cords are staying in place.
"If I told you it wouldn't be a surprise my friends, it's time to get rid of you intruders." Eggman smiles, an evil, gloating smile.
"And what makes you not an intruder?" Tails questions Eggman's true motivations.
"If you knew it wouldn't be as fun, enough of this chit-chat. Time to eliminate you!" Eggman laughs loudly as he closes his cockpit.

The mechanical behemoth was spherical, at the top sat Eggman in the smooth glass cockpit. At either side were cannons, looking heat resistant. It was a deep blue colour, the bottom a shining orange. Out of a cannon blasted a huge fireball, which seems to levitate above the ground.
"Sonic, I'll head to the bridge and you take on Eggman. I need to put out the fire!" Tails shouts as he runs to the bridge.
"I'll meet up with you later buddy!"
Sonic shoots upward, using the exposed sun as a cover for his attack, aiming directly at the cockpit. His leg is outstretched, prepared for a high jumping kick. The impact is made, Sonic bounces back, the cockpit is completely undamaged.
"By the dragon! Not even a tiny crack in the glass." Sonic seethes, before noticing something. "Oh no! My powers will need recharging, I can't keep going like this, Tails' charm better work."
Sonic, instead of attacking the mad doctor, simply tries to avoid his attacks.

"Liquid-Rising charm, here we go. It's called Lishana di kai. Okay, so from what I've read of technical charms you must become one with the spell, wonder what that means."
Tails looks downward, to the side of the bridge. He jumps down and begins to fly, hovering over the water. He repeats the spell name over and over, with a different pronunciation each time.
"I should have known! It's not just about pronouncing the spell correctly, you have to do the spell correctly, one with the spell, well this spell is about liquid, must I become one with the liquid?" Tails imagines himself within the water, he imagines the movement, and attempts to say the spell again. Suddenly he feels a great force coming from below, he raises his hands to the sky.
"I did it! I actually did it!" He exclaims ecstatically. He raises himself to be above the bridge, he feels the water as if it were an extension of his own body. Lowering his hands the water drops, washing over much of the surrounding landscape.

"What on Earth is that? A tidal wave coming from inside the island?!" Eggman calls, shocked. Turning tail and running away from the battle.
"Yeah, you better run you COWARD!" Sonic screams, his fist shaking. He flies upward watching as the water washes over the landscape, leaving only the charred remains of the jungle left.
"Eggman... caused this..." Tails says from behind, his eyes shaking and his body shivering.
"Tails! You did it!" Sonic calls as he runs in, leaping into Tails with a warm hug.
"I did do it..." Tails smiles. Both of the magical heroes collapse onto the bridge, both warping back to their wingless forms.

Then there is a click of a switch. A red figure watching from above. The bridge collapses and the two friends begin to fall into the Hydrocity.
