Chapter 1- The past and present
The night was cold, the only light was coming from empty police car lights as rain poured down on otherwise empty streets. In an alleyway, pools of blood were slowly being swept away in the rain as sounds of ripping flesh were almost blocked out by sounds of rainfall.
The shadowy figure of Kurogiri stood, staring silently down the alley with the mutilated bodies of police officers and the Pro Hero he was tasked with collecting scattered around and a child no older than 9 was sitting in the middle of the carnage. A girl in dishevelled, blood soaked clothes breathing quickly and heavily as she tore into a lump of flesh. The girl slowly looked up to meet the the yellow eyes of the Villain and spoke in a hoarse voice.
"For...give me..."
"What is your name, girl?"
"O...Okami..."
(6 years later)
In a large, partially destroyed room Okami stood. Long, unkempt, grey hair almost obscured her vison. Her body covered in old scars and new cuts, her entire right arm replaced with a complex metal one. She held her body low in a peculiar fighting stance against her opponents, 2 regenerating Nomu to gather combat data. She charged the Nomu with swift movements on all fours and dodged the first one's attack which slammed into the floor, she ran on it's arm and slashed it across the eyes with claws on her metal hand, temporarily blinding it.
She jumped off just as the second Nomu tried to punch her, causing the blow to hit the blinded Nomu and Okami to land on the second Nomu. Okami opened her mouth, her teeth changed shape and became incredibly sharp for a moment as she bit into the second Nomu's neck and tore a chunk out of it which she spat on the ground before leaping away from her opponents.
Okami was prepared to attack again until she heard a voice play through the speakers in the room. "That's enough." Okami knew the voice of her Master and stopped fighting, the Nomu did the same as they were programmed to follow the will of All For One.
"Master, I am pleased to be graced with your presence." Okami said, bowing to a camera looking over the room.
"I came here with an order, one I have been training you for since Kurogiri found you. I will be sending you to the Kamino ward in Yokohama to be your new residence. You'll be working to gather information for me."
"Master, if I may. I am very capable of much more than gathering information. Why am I being sent to do this?" Okami asked in a polite tone, though frustration was present in her voice.
"Oh, Okami Henkan. You've always been difficult. Your mission is far more important than you think. You will be acting as my eyes on the inside of the prestigious hero school, UA." Okami noticed a verbal grimace in her master's voice when he said UA. "You will be given a place to stay and a fake story, I have gone through quite a lot to make it seem like you have been living there for quite a while." All For One explained. He spoke calmly, his voice pleasant and reassuring to Okami, when she obeyed that is.
"Your quirk is very interesting you know. I could have taken your quirk long ago, but it's drawback didn't sit well with me. I could have had you turned into a Nomu but at your age it seemed like a waste of an opportunity. You have been trained for this for years Okami." All For One continued. "Don't let all my effort in training you go to waste."
Okami shivered slightly at her Master's words and bowed to the camera again "I understand Master, please forgive my ignorance."
(1 week before the entrance exam)
Okami stood in a hunched stance at the meeting coordinates she was given, which was apparently at the top of an abandoned building. Apparently she was supposed to meet another of her Master's followers. She was wearing all completely black clothes with long sleeves and gloves to hide her metal arm. She was also wearing a hood and black face mask to hide her face as much as possible.
She heard a swirling sound behind her other than the wind and turned around to see the familiar 'face' of Kurogiri, a sight only she could find comforting. Okami felt a slight warmth in her chest at her saviour's presence.
"Kurogiri," she said taking off her mask and hood, hoping Kurogiri would recognise her, "It's an honour to see you again." she said with a bow.
"Thank you, young Okami. But our meeting is solely for business, not pleasant conversation." Kurogiri said seriously.
"Right," Okami said in her usual near emotionless voice, standing up straight at Kurogiri, "As you may know, Master has given me the task to find any information that would be useful to him in the UA high school."
"Good, with our other informant we should find anything we are looking for within those walls."
"Two? Master did not tell me about this."
"We wanted you to not know their identity in the case you are captured and forced to reveal information. The other doesn't know about you either for the same reason." Kurogiri explained.
Okami nodded and pulled a phone from her pocket and handed it to him "I can record messages and send them to this phone and another device Master owns, though you can't contact me through it." she lifted her sleeve to reveal the metal arm and pointed to a 2 buttons on the sides of the wrist "The messages will record when I press one of these buttons, one for you and one for Master. I will also be recording them to sound like an audio diary rather than messages to avoid suspicion when I'm in earshot of someone."
Kurogiri inspected the phone before warping it away, "Very good, I await your report after the exam."
Okami nodded and started to leave, before walking away she turned around "Same time, same place."
As she left Kurogiri warped back to his spot behind the bar. "Where were you?" he heard Tomura say from his seat, controller in hand and eyes glued to a screen.
"Meeting with our newest contact, they will reveal what they can about UA after their exam."
Tomura groaned "We can send so much fake information to those bastard Heroes but our spies still have to go through that stupid exam."
(Present- day of the UA entrance exam)
Okami waited outside of a city sized battle area with many other examinees, she didn't pay that much attention to them though as they weren't important for her current objective. Some other students gave her curious looks but that was mostly due to her metal hand, which was the only visible portion of the metal arm thanks to her long sleeves. She also looked a lot less nervous than the other examinees and for good reason, she had gotten used to dangerous foes when training for All For One. Her metal arm was a permanent reminder of that.
After waiting for some time the gates opened without warning, she immediately ran forward on all fours, extending the retractable claws on her metal hand to dig into the concrete and fling herself forward while running. She was only overtaken by people with speed quirks like a boy overtaking him with exhaust pipes on his legs.
It wasn't long until Okami found some robots, they made a lot of noise and had a unique scent making them easy to pinpoint. She used part of her quirk to make claws from her left hand and ripped through their armour with both claws. 1 point and 2 point robots had thinner areas which she could easily cut through but the 3 point ones were much bulkier but she was still able to viciously dismantle them with claws and sharpened teeth.
5 points became 10, 10 became 20 and soon she had lost count of her points all she could focus on was finding a new robot to destroy, she was mostly just letting her anger out, though she was frustrated she couldn't eat anything from the robots she killed.
She climbed to the top of one of the buildings and started to look around, her eyes quickly darting between anything that moved, she only saw examinees. She thought about moving further out to find more robots until she felt the ground shake and saw some buildings break apart as a colossal robot taller than the other buildings came out of nowhere and was pretty close by.
The 0 point robot roamed through the streets and tore through buildings, Okami thought it would be interesting to see what she could do to it and ran to it, jumping across buildings until she was next to it, she dug her claws into it's armour plated arm and started climbing. She was about half way up it's arm before she saw something fly past her, she didn't get a good look at it but felt a huge impact as the robot began falling over. Someone just broke this thing.
She climbed around the arm as the robot slowly collapsed and she leapt to another building, she hung onto the wall with a claw as she looked up to see a person falling from the sky, presumably whoever just smashed the robot. The person was falling too fast for Okami to do anything so she just watched, hanging from the side of the building and silently respecting the strength of the individual plummeting to the ground.
She watched as the person, who she could now make out was a green haired boy, fell but was stopped at the last second by a girl who made him float for a few seconds and then he hit the ground with much less of an impact.
Okami didn't get involved and stayed away from whatever commotion occurred thanks to the boy but vowed if she ever saw him again she would respect him. Once the exam ended very shortly after, she left and contacted Kurogiri to say she hadn't heard or seen anything worth noting, much to her own disappointment.
One week later, while in the apartment she had been given to live at, she received a letter from UA, she opened it and inside was a hologram player and papers. She turned on the hologram player.
"I AM HERE!" the hologram of All Might said, Okami didn't know much on many Heroes that weren't part of UA but knew All Might's face, considering you couldn't go anywhere without seeing his face plastered on some advertisement. Even though she was technically a Villain, Okami respected All Might for his power and courage. Like a true pack leader.
All Might congratulated Okami on her earning 75 points for destroying the fake villains but grew serious and told her that rescuing people is also a Hero's duty and to not forget that if she ever wanted to become a Hero. Okami didn't care too much about what he had to say about her performance and was going to just hand the hologram to Kurogiri the next day until All Might said that he would be teaching personally at UA.
Once the message ended Okami immediately took the hologram player and contacted both her Master and Kurogiri.
On the rooftops that night Kurogiri watched the hologram recording without his eyes ever shifting from it until it ended. "Well done, you have already proven your worth for our cause." Kurogiri said, Okami though she could hear a hint of pride in his voice, causing a slight shift in her normally blank expression.
Kurogiri opened a small warp gate above Okami which dropped a document folder in her hands. "This is everything the school knows about you, including your Quirk, although some information has been altered of course. However your name has remained the same, your name isn't on any criminal record thanks to your...preferred method of disposal."
Okami read the document, pretty much everything on there was true except for a few small things and 3 major things she'd have to remember.
Her 'parents' are wealthy and often away of business trips, this was to explain her living alone and the expensive metal limb.
She got caught in a Villain's rampage 2 years ago resulting in multiple injuries, this was to explain her scars and lack of right arm.
Her Quirk wasn't actually lied about but instead was not revealed it in it's entirety. In the school records her Quirk was simply known as "Wolf". It went on to say her quirk enabled her to grow claws and fangs as well as enhance her own senses, strength and stamina. It was an incomplete description of her real Quirk.
"I guess it's easier to hide parts of my quirk than to try and fake a new one." Okami thought as she read the Quirk description.
"I will remember these details. Thank you, Kurogiri." Okami bowed to the villain before continuing "I will see what I can gather on the first day."
Okami turned to leave and spoke again, with a slight grin of sharp jagged teeth across her normally expressionless face.
"I think I'll grab a bite to eat, to celebrate."
