New York York City 2045:
Just another not so normal day in the life of your friendly neighbor Spider-Man, Luis Navarrete, the grandson of the original Spider-Man and son of the fourth Spider-Woman. Even without the family name, the infamous Parker Luck never seems to leave him alone. He swings from one building to another making his way to the freshly rebuilt Baxter Building. There he will be meeting his parents and grandparents for a meeting with Reed Richards of the Fantastic Five, who is no doctor, but for the strange things that have been happening to your mother, aunt Anna, and little baby Richie; he is their only hope. Two months they started glitching so to speak, at least that is what it looked like. He still didn't know what was happening, but hopefully Richards would have figured it out by now. He wondered why he was the only one not to be glitching other than his grandparents, but he had to count that blessing even if he would trade places with any of his family who was glitching out. He felt a tear flow down his cheek beneath his mask, he had only gotten his mom back just six months ago, he had spent years without being able to hear her voice in person and feel the tender loving hug of his mother. While he had a responsibility to his nation and his species and he will never regret saving all the lives of the people in colonies, he did regret serving for so long. Those damn black ops missions kept him from his family and friends, and gave birth to his greatest enemy. If only he could have been here when New York was attacked. Maybe he could have saved Uncle Benjy, Faith, or mom. After a bit more swinging he landed atop the Baxter building. He entered through the building's rooftop entrance. He walked down the steps to the main lab of the Baxter Building. As he entered, he pulled off his mask and greeted his family and the Fantastic Five.
May said, "How are you, my dear"?
Luis responded, "Doing as fine as I can be, Mom. What's the prognosis, from Mr. Big Brain".
May smiled at her only son and said, "You're just like your grandfather, cracking jokes to hide your concern". As Luis got closer she placed her hand on his face and said, "No matter what happens I am proud of you and I know Benjy would be proud of you too".
Luis replied with a tear in his eye, "Thanks Mom".
As he finished, Luis heard the door open and he turned to see his grandparents and Dr. Richards enter. Luis saw that his grandmother was in tears and grandfather wasn't looking too good either. Luis said, "I'm guessing that the news isn't very good".
Richards sighed, "I'm afraid not. Your mother, aunt Anna, and cousin Richie are all suffering from cellular degeneration. But unlike say the cellular degeneration that is experienced by clones this is giving off Chronal radiation. Meaning that the problem stems from something in the past. That would also explain the tears in reality that our satellites and research outposts have noted. Hell, it explains the Shi'ar attack on New York when they were completely beaten. For God's sake, Sun King was reported to have killed Gladiator on Chandrilla. Yet somehow he shows up in New York City. I'm sorry you guys, I know that is still a sensitive subject for all of you with what happened to Benjy. When there is a major break in the time stream, reality starts to tear itself apart and the people closest to the disruption will begin to suffer cellular degeneration and "glitching" as you have seen. I'm guessing the only reason why you aren't suffering the same symptoms is because of all the time you spent underway in FTL transits so your cells have some shielding from the chronal radiation. Though that resistance may not last too much longer. We have to find the source soon or Richie and Anna will die. Your mother shows the slowest rate of cellular degeneration and the least amount of "glitching" despite being the eldest, so it means that the disruption takes place between her birth and Benjy's birth". Richards turned to his computer and plugged in the data and continued, "Which would put it somewhere in the time period of 1998 to 2006, which means during the Super Hero Civil war". All of a sudden Richards' phone goes off and Richards' answers it seeing it is Johnny, "Hello Johnny, what is going on"/
Johnny said, "So Teresa and I went to Pete's house to grab some of Pete's old gear, but all of a sudden Teresa says, "I can't believe my brother designs tech for Spider-man". I try reminding her that she knows that Pete is Spider-Man, but then I got hit with a huge migraine every time I try to tell her. Do you know what is going on Reed"?
Reed has a look of revelation, "So it has to do with Peter's secret identity, but the pain has to be either from a telepathic or magical protection to protect your identity. Let's contact Doc Magus and see what he finds". Quickly dialing Magus via video call.
Doc Magus, "So what can I do for the Fantastic Five today?"
Richards said, "I need you to see if there is a magical disruption regarding Spider-Man between the years 1998 and 2006".
Magus replied, " You got it", and began his incantations. After a few minutes, Magus finished and said, " it seems like Spider-Man made a deal with Mephisto to erase everyone of the knowledge of Spider-Man's secret identity and had my predecessor place magical barriers to prevent it from getting out again".
Richards replied, "Thank you Magus, that was crucial to me helping figure out the disturbances throughout time and reality". He ended the call and turned to the Spider-family and said, "If we can send someone back in time and have them prevent this the tear to the timeline. We'll need a powerful telepath in order to wipe the memories of anyone who could give up Peter during the Civil War, as it would be pointless just to wipe any electronic or paper evidence".
Peter said, "Luckily, I still have a couple of my old Spider talismans, we can build a dimensional transporter based off one of the extra to work for a non Spider totem".
Luis smiled, "I can take care of the telepath. Also I will make the trip".
Peter turned to his grandson and said, "Are you sure"?
Luis replied, "Yep, it has to be me. I'm the only one whose cells aren't degrading and still in my physical prime. Besides I won't be alone, I'll have Lya join me since we need a telepath and
Two days later:
The X-Men's Blackbird landed on the rooftop landing pad of the Baxter building, and its landing ramp dropped. Exiting the Blackbird, came Lyanna "Marvel Girl" Howlett-Navarrete. Lyanna ran to Luis throwing her arms around him and they shared a kiss, before exchanging proper greetings.
Lyanna said, "So are you ready"?
Luis replied, "My granddad and Dr. Richards are going over the final details of the Spider talisman, it's a device that lets people travel between different realities and times. Typically only Spider totems can use them but they managed to make a technological one that is linked to one of the talismans".
Lyanna smirked, "I guess there are more benefits of being a Spider than just being able to spice up our marriage with some webs".
Luis smiled and said as they started walking down the stairs, "It has been a while hasn't it, Lya"?
Lya said with a smile, "It has, but at least we got this mission to spend together. Let's just avoid my grandfather, I rather not not get into a Back to the Future type situation.
Luis said, "Hey, if he does we'll just ask your grandpa Scott to blast him".
Lya chuckled and said, "You always have to make a joke out of everything".
Luis replied, "That is why you asked me out".
Lya said, "As I recall it was the other way around with a certain Spider begging me to go out with him".
Luis smirked and said, "Is that so". As he pulled her closer to him as they entered the main lab.
Two days later:
Richards said, "Alright, everything should be in order". He turned to Peter and said, "Peter, why don't you go over the new dimensional transporter for Lyanna and the new suits for Luis and Lya".
Luis replied, "New suit? What's wrong with our current suits"?
His grandpa replied, " It's a great suit given and I can't begin to count how many times a quick nanite suit would have made my life easier, but it's not really suited for taking on Omega level threats, and the X-men's typical costumes rely on the fact that almost every team of X-men has someone who is either invulnerable or an insane healing factor"
Peter walked toward Peter pressed a button opening an armored locker in the lab and said, " Presenting the pinnacle of the knowledge and experiences of three generations of Spider heroes… the Spider-Armor Mk. 12 Omega. It's based on the last designs that Benjy and I worked on prior to his death. The plates are made of Vibranium and reinforced by Wakandan kinetic energy absorption nanites, my own sound and light absorption tech, spider tracers both normal and anti metal tracers, stringer darts that can deliver a nanite solution that will send electrical impulses to knockout a target, Anti metal stingers based off the ones I had when I was the host of the Other entity, spider-arms made of the mono atomic iron alloy crystal which controlled by your thoughts, and of course the other aspects of power armor. It can be worn over your nanite suit and interface with the nanites directly in case of damage. Now for my favorite granddaughter-in-law, we got you a custom nanite suit, with nanites intended to cover your head being made from the same metals Xavier uses for the Cerebro and Cerebra units laced with vibranium. It of course has all the other features I put in Luis' suit. Any questions''?
Luis raised his hand, "Is there a coffee maker?
Peter said, "Alright, any real questions about the suits? Alright then let's go over the plan. First you will travel back to January of 1999, New York City and meet with Kaine, he is going to be very different from how you know him, Luis, but make contact and set him on the course to find May and return her to us. Even back then his Spider-sense was better than mine so he should realize that you are related. Then you will travel to the beginning of June 2006, and convince the past versions of myself and MJ and my aunt May to liquidate all assets and flee the country. In addition you are to wipe Stark's memory of my secret identity and place mental firewalls in his mind along with any pro registration hero who knows my identity. Along with wiping any hard evidence. Then it's a simple jump back. Now say you're good-byes and then jump, the degeneration could start increasing at any moment".
Luis and Lya went to the observation room that his ill family was in. Outside he saw Richie's maternal grandfather, Peter Parker's one time nemesis and now best friend Flash Thompson standing outside in case the anti-venom symbiote would make everything worse for their mutual family. Inside he saw his grandmother at the nearest cot placing a damp cloth on aunt Anna's forehead, his aunt Samatha caressing little richie's head with her mother standing behind her at the second cot, and finally dad holding mom's hand telling her that she is going to be alright before kissing her forehead at the farthest one.
Luis and Lya walked towards his grandma and aunt Anna saying their goodbyes and promising that he would fix everything. Then they walked over to the last cot. Luis said, "Hi mom, hey dad, how are you guys doing"?
His dad replied, "We're holding in there. Your mom is doing a bit better than Anna and Richie. I pray that everything will work out".
May pulled herself up and said, "I hope you know what you're doing, going to the past isn't exactly the safest thing. I almost destroyed and saved myself when I got sent back to my dad's teenage years. The actions you take will have massive consequences, so remember with great power comes great responsibility. When things get bad, never forget that your father and I love you".
Luis said with tears in eyes, "I love you guys too".
Luis and Lya left the observation room and walked towards their new suits. They suited up and activated the portal. Lya grabbed Luis' hand and they stepped through the portal.
