Animals Among Us

Sequel to Animals Within Us: Alex has been changed, and has unique powers as a hybrid vampire/spirit. She uses her skills to help others in need, and acquires wealth while doing so. Emmett still has feelings for Alex. Carlisle and Esme help Alex find her identity. A surprise visitor ruins all plans and causes turmoil.

1. Prologue

Story includes original characters and similar backgrounds to Stephanie Meyer's Twilight Saga, including all of the Cullen's, Volturi guard members, Billy, and the Denali Coven. One alteration made for plot purposes was that Rosalie is soul-mated with Edward rather than Emmett.

Prologue:

"Carlisle, is she...alive?" Esme asks.

"I don't know," I answer. I get to her, and the last standing wolf pounces. My family subdues him fast. I kneel beside Alex and check her pulse. Its weak, but its there.

I lean to hear her breathing, and that's where I get nothing. Chest compressions, chest compressions, chest compressions.

"Carlisle!?" Esme asks.

I ignore her, focusing on getting Alex back to life.

My family is beside me, trying to give me space to work, but very distraught.

Chest compressions, chest compressions, chest compressions.

"Is it time?" Jasper asks.

Time for what?

"To change her," Edward clarifies for me.

Chest compressions, chest compressions, chest compressions.
