WE ARE FINALLY IN NEW YORK! The Hummel house said Dave could stay so we left after he was sure. I won't lie and say I won't miss everyone. I know we plan on going back.
I just think this is honestly what's best for the family. I look around the living room and smile. We already have family photos up on the walls. Sure we still have a lot of boxes to empty out but progress it progress.
I look toward the girls playing and smile. Theyve all just been playing since waking up. Seeming how they slept the whole ride here..I have 1 hour of sleep. I sigh and go to take a sip of my coffee.
"Go to bed" I look up at Janine "It'll be fine! I wanna spend time with my grand babies!"
"You sure?" She nods and I set the cup down "Thank you! I drove the most and my head is killing me"
"No problem" Janine looks around then whispers to me "Between you and me...your mom and my daughter are really lazy bums when it comes to travel"
I chuckle "I believe that" I stand up and stretch "I'll go take a nap"
She smiles and I walk up the stairs. I walk to the bedroom and see the girls asleep. We have 3 beds pushed together for a huge one. Start way we can sleep together.
I lay down in the open spot. I feel arms wrap around me and smile. This feels..so niiice..
-Time skip-
"OH MY GOD!" I jump out of my sleep to the yelling and the others getting startled "ITS ON FIRE!"
We all jump up and run downstairs. We see the girls all at the entrance of the kitchen. Smoke is slowly coming out of it. Thank god for the baby gate.
I jump over it and see mom with Janine. I turn toward Judy and see she has the extinguisher. She hands it to me and I dowse the area. When it's done I hold back the laughter.
"What's so funny?" I turn toward Judy and see she's trying to hide her smile "What?"
"Uhh you've got some" Madison chuckles "You got some extinguisher on your face"
"Huh?" Mom looks at Janine confused and starts to laugh "Your face!"
Janine turns and laughs too "Your face!" They both starts losing it "Oh you look like a ghost!"
After a laugh break I look at the pan "So what was this supposed to be?" I look at mom "There's certain things I know you can't make"
"It was just some chicken" I give her a look and she rolls her eyes "It was only once before"
"And now" I sigh and go to grab the other chicken "I'll make it"
"You've done so much" Mom walks over and takes the pan from my hand "You don't need to do this"
"Mom it's no big deal" I walk to the fridge and pull out the fries "You can watch over me if you must"
"Shelby" I turn toward Judy "Talk?"
I set everything down and walk out of the kitchen. I follow Judy to a bit away. I sigh and stand across from her.
"What's going on?" I tilt my head confused "Your pushing your mom down"
"She can't cook chicken" I sigh "She almost caught a house of ours on fire once"
"So what was that about?" I look away "What?"
"I just" I look back at her again "I'm scared ok"
"Why?" Judy looks toward the kitchen where laughter is echoing out "Why are you scared?"
"My mom doesn't always pay attention" I sigh "I'm just worried something will happen to her here"
"She's been fine" I jump and turn toward Janine "She's actually made some friends while we've been here! New York is good for her"
"I guess I should calm down some" I take a deep breath and let it out "Alright I can do this"
I walk back to the Kitchen. I smile when I see my mom moving around it. She looks so professional. I sigh and walk over to her.
"Hey mom" She stops and look at me "Im sorry about jumping the gun with your cooking...if I could help..would you let me?"
"I'd love to cook with you!" She smiles and jogs to the radio "Let's get down with our bad selves!"
I chuckle as she starts to dance around the kitchen.

I see the others slowly make their way over. No ones gonna miss Judy dancing.

After Judy and mom stop dancing we all clap. I smile at the laughter that breaks out. So far New York has been worth the travel. Not many issues have happened.
No drama has followed us here either. The girls have been free and so have we. There's a whole summer and a few days before school starts though. I'll take the wins as they come.
I just really hope we stay fine while here. We all need a break from all of the shit we've been through. I feel a hand on my shoulder and look at a worried Maribel. I give her a smile and grab her hand.
"Alright" I look at everyone "It's dinner time!"
There's a cheer and I chuckle. We get the food to the table and we all take our seats. I look around and smile. This is my family. This is amazing.
New York is amazing and I hope it stays that way.
