Author's note: So first off I want to say thank you for checking out my story and I hope you enjoyed the prologue to the main story. For my OC I am basing him off of several jedis in the canon and Legends such as Galen Marek from Force Awakens, and Cal Kestis from Jedi: Fallen Order. The main story will take place after Revenge of the Sith and before A New Hope, but will feature a few characters from the canon and Legends. I hope you all enjoy the chapters to come.
Prologue: Princess And the Padawan
The blue hue of a lightsaber shines across the blinding helmet of a young boy as he moves it side to side tracking the movements of a training droid hovering above his head. The training droid simultaneously fires blasts at the young boy blinded by the helmet who easily deflects the blasts with his lightsaber.
"I think that droid has gotten too easy for you, Matty" A clone trooper observing his training said
"Oh yeah? Give me your best shot then, Bek." The young boy said with a smirk.
The clone trooper sets his blaster to non lethal blasts and begins to slowly move around the young Jedi in training.
"You see, kid. The thing about droids is that they have no personality, no individual thinking." The clone trooper taunts as he circles around the young padawan looking for an opening. Bek fires a burst of blasts at the padawan who easily deflects the blast as he begins to get a feel for the padawan's movements the trooper fires multiple blasts as he continues to circle and change up his bursts of blasts hoping to trip up the young jedi who once agains easily deflects the blasts.
"Come on, Bek. That seriously all you got?" he taunted back at the clone.
"Now you're asking for it." he said as he circled his way towards the remote that controlled the training droid. Bek once again fires at the padawan who again deflects the blasts with little effort, just then Bek activates the droid who begins to fire at the padawan catching him off guard with the sudden attack coming from his side. He turns to his side towards the droid deflecting the sudden incoming blasts giving the clone an opening and landing a single blast on the padawan sending him to the ground.
"That's cheating!" The padawan said with a pout as he took off the blinding helmet showing his short brown hair with the signature braid that all padawans sported. The clone trooper went up to him and offered him a hand up.
"Fights are rarely fair, kid." He replied with a chuckle as he helped the young padawan up off the ground. "But I will say your skills have definitely improved since I last saw you using this droid.
"It's true, my young padawan." A voice called out as the doors leading into the training room opened and a middle aged man with short hair and a scar on the right side of his face walks into the room wearing the signature brown robe of a jedi master. Your skills with your lightsaber have increased immensely, Matthew. I'm very impressed."
"You've trained a fine Jedi, General Rhysode." The clone said with a salute.
"Thank you, Master." Matthew said as he placed his lightsaber back at his side. "Aren't you supposed to be leaving for Remnant?"
"I am and I'm surprised that you have not been bothering to come along with me."
"I would like to come along with you, Master, but I know that I have to be ready first."
"That is correct, my young padawan." Rhysode said with a small smile "So will you be coming along or not?"
"Master?" He said with disbelief and confusion in his voice. You think I'm ready?"
"I do, my young apprentice, as does Bek."
"Sorry I didn't tell ya, kid. The General had me oversee your training to evaluate your progress and I believe that you are ready to gain some combat experience."
"Thanks, Bek." he said with a smile
"No need, kid. I wouldn't have given your master the ok if I didn't think you had the skill and I do think you have the skill."
"Besides." Rhysode began and as he made his way back to the entrance of the training room "It's a diplomatic meeting so I don't believe there'll be any reason for you to use your lightsaber. Now get what you need and meet me at the hangar in 5 minutes."
"Yes, Master."
"And I will leave you behind if you are not there in 5 minutes."
"Y-Yes, Master."
Matthew made his way back to his quarters still in disbelief that he was about to head off onto his first mission as a padawan. It had been a year since he went from jedi youngling to padawan and in that year he had sought out to prove that he had what it took to become a jedi knight. Everyday he had spent his time training his skills with his lightsaber and focused his connection to the force to become stronger with it. All his training had finally paid off as he raced down the corridors of the Republic ship passing by clone troopers all who had wished him the best of luck as he headed to meet his master at the hangar for his first ever mission.
"So What is the nature of your mission, Master?" He asked as the two jedis made their way to the seats of the airship that would be taking them planetside.
"Like I said, it's a diplomatic mission from the Jedi council. They have requested we seek the aid of Jacques Schnee, the head of the Schnee dust company with the war against the Separatists.
"Why do we need his aid? We have the clones on our side."
"Indeed we do, but not all battles in this war are won on a battlefield. Some are won through politics. The council does not fully agree with his methods of business, but there's no doubt that he gets results in which we are in dire need of if we have any hope of turning the tide of this war. But for that to happen the council hopes that I can broker a peace treaty between Jacques Schnee and the faunus civil rights group The White Fang."
"The White Fang?" Matthew questioned still not fully knowledgeable about the world that was about to visit.
"The White Fang are… were a peaceful protesting group that worked towards equal rights for faunus' until as of late where their methods have become more extreme and both sides have seen the loss of life not including the lives of the innocent who sadly found themselves in the crossfire. Which is why we must help the two groups come to a peaceful negotiation. I do not agree with their methods, but it is understandable as to why they would go to such lengths."
"I understand, Master."
Remnant, Atlas
Matthew's eyes widened as the sight of Atlas appeared through the glass completely in awe at the size of the kingdom, reminding him of his youngling days at the Jedi temple on Coruscant.
"Quite a sight isn't it."
The airship they took landed down onto the Schnee dust company landing pad and Rhysode and Matthew made their way off of the airship to be met by what seemed to be the personal butlers and maids of the Schnee family.
"It's an honor, Master jedi." One of the butlers said as he motioned for the two jedis to follow him "Mr. Schnee has been awaiting your arrival. Please follow me."
"Are all the kingdoms as big as Atlas, Master?" The young padawan asked, still astonished by the size of the buildings in Atlas.
"They are, Matthew. Maybe if we have time we'll visit another kingdom before we report back to the council."
Matthew tried to hide his excitement of being able to visit another place that wasn't a space station or another starship, but the excitement was all too present on the young boy's face. Rhysode couldn't help but smile at his padawan's excitement, because even though he was a Jedi in training and a capable one at that he still had the heart, innocence, and curiosity of a teenager.
The butler led them into the office of Jacques Schnee, the head of the Schnee family and dust company.
"Ah, welcome, Master Rhysode." Jacques said as he extended a hand towards the jedi master.
"Thank you for agreeing to meet with me, Mr. Schnee. I know what a busy man you must be." He replied as he shook the business man's hand.
"Nonsense, I'm never too busy for a knight of the jedi order."
Just then a young girl seemingly not much younger than Rhysode's padawan walked into the room with the look of annoyance present on her face.
"Father, are you ready to go?"
"Go where, Weiss?"
The look of annoyance deepened on the young girl's face. "You promised to take me into town to shop for my birthday that you missed because of work."
Jacques let out a deep sigh "Sorry, Weiss, but I'm going to have to take you another day. I'm a bit busy today."
"Of course." Weiss said clearly disappointed at the fact that once again her father had chosen his work over her.
"Why doesn't my padawan accompany your daughter into town?"
"Master?" Matthew said, looking at his master with confusion.
"Why not? This is my padawan's first time on a planet since he left the jedi temple on Coruscant and I did promise him a look around town so your daughter would be doing me a favour showing him around."
"Well, Weiss? Would you mind a jedi escort for the day?"
Weiss took a look at Matthew and let out an annoyed sigh "I suppose not. Very well, Jedi. We should get going before the shops get too crowded."
"Keep her safe, padawan." Rhysode said as he gave his apprentice a pat on the back
"Yes, master."
"And remember, padawan." Rhysode began seriousness now present in his voice which was a rare occurrence "Your lightsaber is to stay in its holster unless you are given no other options understood?"
"Of course, Master."
The padawan and the young heiress made their way into the town that was overshadowed by the enormous Schnee dust company that employed more than half of the population of Atlas.
"This is incredible!" The young jedi in training exclaimed, still in awe at the size of a single kingdom. The streets were riddled with different shops and food vendors, a sight that was vastly different to the inside of the capital ships that he had been stationed on with his master and the Jedi temple on Coruscant that Matthew called home and was accustomed to seeing everyday.
"So, where to start, Ms. Schnee?" Matthew said trying his best to sound cordial and professional as his master would.
"Please don't call me that. Weiss will do just fine."
"O-okay, Weiss." He replied a bit caught off guard with the sudden informality
"And what is it that I should call you, Jedi?"
"Matthew would be fine."
"Well, Matthew. There are a few shops that I would like to visit first, but once I'm finished I am open to your suggestions. I did agree to give you a tour of Atlas afterall."
Matthew accompanied Weiss to the various shops that she had intended to visit, from a clothing shop to a dust shop it was clear that the credit card that she possessed seemed to have no limit. With every new purchase she made it added another bag for the young jedi to carry, the amount of bags already obstructing his eyesight. Matthew was not bothered by the fact that he had reluctantly became Weiss' personal mule for the day since he was still completely awestruck by the fact that he was on a whole different planet and that he was on his first mission, as facile as the mission seemed to him it was still a mission of importance given to him and his master by the council.
A few hours had passed since the young heiress had begun her shopping and it seemed that her spree had finally come to an end. The young padawan let out a sigh of relief as he placed the numerous bags of different items on the ground next to them as they sat at a nearby outdoor restaurant. "You really like shopping, Weiss." He said with a small chuckle.
"Sorry for having you carry my bags for me, Matthew." Weiss said with an apologetic look.
"It's no trouble, Weiss. I'm just happy to be off of the ship for a day."
"So, how is it being a jedi?"
"Well, I'm actually not a jedi yet. I'm still just a padawan which is basically just a jedi in training."
"Still. I heard it's pretty difficult to become a jedi. Is it true that jedis aren't allowed to marry?"
"That's true. Jedis aren't allowed to really form those kinds of attachments in fear of them falling to the dark side."
"The dark side?"
"Yeah. The dark side is basically the yin to our yang. The jedis that use the dark side of the force are known as sith, but there hasn't been any sith jedi in hundreds of years."
"So what is the difference between the light and dark side of the force?"
"Well the big difference between the two is that the users of the dark side use it out of their own selfish desires whereas a jedi who uses the light side of the force uses it to defend themselves and the ones around them."
The young jedi in training began to explain more about the history of the dark and light side of the force and the stories he was told back at the jedi temple about the war between the sith lords and the jedi knights who defended the republic and the ones who stood behind it. Weiss grew more and more intrigued with the two sides of the force and what would drive someone to give up their possessions and desire to love to become a defender of peace. Before the two knew it, time had passed and the once bright sun had begun to set. Realising the time the young padawan took hold of the young heiress' many bags of shopping goods and began to escort her back to her palace size home. The two teens walked down the near empty streets of Atlas with Matthew's now empty hands thanks to guards that Weiss had called for.
"Thanks for coming along, Matthew." she said with a small but visible smile.
"It's no problem. I should be the one thanking you, Weiss. I know you wanted to come into town with your father, but I really enjoyed our time together." He said, returning a smile.
"Well…" Weiss said, feeling her cheeks beginning to turn a bright red "I'm glad you did."
The two continued walking down the streets of Atlas when Matthew began to sense that something bad was going to happen. He grabbed hold of the silver cylinder that rested at his side without completely freeing it from its holster that was attached to his robe.
"What's wrong?" Weiss questioned noticing his sudden change from calm and collected to alert in a split second.
"I don't know for sure, but I feel a disturbance." Matthew motioned for the guards to take hold of Weiss and to take her to safety. Weiss did her best to protest the actions of her bodyguards, but was unable to break from their grasp. Matthew focused his vision and enhanced it with the force scanning the many buildingtops and empty windows till his eyes fell onto what was causing the sinking feeling of dread in his stomach. On top a roof directly across from his position stood a hooded figure that masked their presence with the shadows. Judging by the way they were able to get so close to him and Weiss without his noticing he gathered that they were the faunus group his master had warned him about on their way to Remnant.
"The White Fang." He thought to himself as he now had his lightsaber completely unsheathed from his holster, but waited till he could confirm that they were indeed a threat to active his lightsaber. In almost an instant the shadowed figure that stood on the rooftop seemed to multiply as now several figures across the rooftop all gazing on the young jedi. Without waiting another second Matthew energized the kyber crystal inside his lightsaber and the bright blue hue of the lightsaber engulfed the once dim lighted streets. He had hoped that just the sight of the lightsaber would be enough to discourage whatever they had been planning to do and that he wouldn't have to actually use his lightsaber, but to no avail. As if they had taken his actions as a challenge the shadowed figures leaped off of the building and made a dash towards the padawan with their weapons drawn. As the figure left the shadows their faces hid behind the mask of the White Fang confirming what he had thought.
Each figure dashed forward with dust infused blades simultaneously slashing and attacking Matthew who was easily able to parry and fend off their attacks with his lightsaber. Matthew reaches within himself and musters all his strength to unleash the strongest force push he could muster and manages to blast the attackers off of their feet and causes them to lose their grip on their weapons.
"I don't want to hurt you…" Matthew started using the force to push their weapons away "So surrender peacefully and I promise you a fair sentence." The air around him fell silent as the still masked figures all laid in silence, none of them saying a single word till one of the masked figures reached their finger into their ear as if they were listening into an earpiece.
"Roger that. Package secure."
In one swift movement another one of the figures reaches into their pocket and pulls out a smoke bomb that they use to escape. As the smoke began to dissipate the figures were gone as fast as they appeared. Matthew deactivated his lightsaber and placed it back at his side. "Package secure?" He thought to himself, recalling the only thing he had heard from the White Fang members "Weiss!" He shouted as he realised what the package was. He raced to the building Weiss' bodyguards had escorted her to only to find the guards that were assigned to her dead. He slowly made his way into the seemingly abandoned building using any energy he had left trying to sense something in the dimly lit building, but to no avail. He had made a move toward his sheathed lightsaber, but before he could unsheathe it he felt the cold barrel of a gun pointed at the back of his head.
"Hand over the lightsaber." The deep voice demanded pressing the gun harder and deeper onto Matthew's head. Matthew grabbed the hilt of his weapon and slowly began to unsheathe it. His master had taught him how to get out of a situation like this and at this moment he was keen to give his master's teaching a shot. "No funny business." The deep voice started before he could go through with his daring attempt "Do anything other than what I am telling you to do and the Schnee's will have one less person at their family dinners."
The White Fang member had confirmed what Matthew feared, they had Weiss. Matthew threw out any idea he had of getting himself out of the situation and simply agreed to comply with their demands, for now. He handed his lightsaber to the figure and the figure motioned for him to turn around. Matthew slowly turned around and saw the one holding the gun on him was a rather young looking man with red hair and what appeared to be horns on his head and a sheathed katana at his side.
"Where's Weiss Schnee?" Matthew asked, trying to remain calm and collected like his master had taught him.
"Oh, don't worry. We plan on reuniting you two real soon." And just then Matthew felt a sharp pain on the back of his head and felt himself blacking woke up and found himself suspended off of the ground with his hands tied above him. He surveyed his surroundings, but couldn't make out anything that could give him any idea of where he could be, nothing but a metal table that stood a few feet away from him and what seemed to be shackles covered in blood no doubt from other hostages, that's when he forgot about his own safety and began to worry about the safety of the heiress who was put into his care.
"Good." He heard the same voice from before saying "You're finally awake."
"W-Where am I?" He questioned still feeling groggy from the hit he took on the back of his head.
"You don't need to worry about your location at the moment." The red haired man said in a sinister voice as he eyed the young helpless jedi.
"And Weiss Schnee? What have you done with her?"
"The young Heiress? Oh we haven't done anything to her pretty little head… yet."
"And what are you planning to do with her?"
"Well that depends completely on her father and his future course of actions."
"What do you mean by that?"
The red haired man continued to pace back and forth as he held onto Matthew's lightsaber. "Two jedis on Remnant? I thought the Republic didn't bother with us planets near the outer rim?"
"We're looking to change that."
"Right… right, that's why you and your master went to Jacques Schnee? To hopefully bring some kind of peace between his organisation and us?"
"Your two factions have been at war for too long and too much innocent blood, both faunus and human have been spilled because of it."
The man placed his lightsaber on the table in front of him and came face to face with the padawan. "I agree with you that too much blood has been spilt, but not the blood of the humans, the blood of my people. Those filthy humans have treated us like second rate civilians. The White Fang first tried to be peaceful, but no one listened, no one cared. Not until we put on these masks and chose violence, the only thing you humans understand. We were right. As soon as human lives are in danger the Republic finally decides to act and attempt peace, but it's too late. We no longer want to be accepted by humans. No… we want to be feared! Fear is the only way we'll ever be given the respect we deserve. We are the future of this world and it's time for humans to accept that, whether they want to or not!"
Just then the door that led in and out of the "interrogation room" opened as another member of the White Fang entered "Taurus, the Schnee girl is beginning to wake up."
"Excellent." He said the same sinister voice back, but this time Matthew could sense the ill intent behind the words.
"What do we do with the jedi?"
"Kill him, and make sure he screams. I want the girl to hear his suffering."
"Yes, Taurus."
"I have to get to Weiss quickly!" Matthew thought to himself. He glanced at his lightsaber on the table and attempted to focus on the force to pull it towards him to free himself. The two White Fang members that were in charge of ending his life slowly made their way towards the still strung up padawan taking out small bladed weapons.
"Relax." He began to tell himself "Focus."
Matthew began to think about his master and the teachings he had passed on to him. "Where is the force?" He heard his master's voice call out to him in his head
"It's all around. It is within me."
"There will be times when emotions such as pain and fear will trick you, you will feel cut off, isolated. This is an illusion. Your lightsaber lies there, out of reach, but you remain connected through the force. Feel that energy around you and summon your weapon."
With his bound up hands he mustered all the strength and energy he could to summon his lightsaber as the masked figures came closer and closer and with a sudden burst his lightsaber flew past them and landed right into his hand. Matthew quickly activated his lightsaber and with one swift movement cut through the ties that had bound him. Before the White Fang members could fully grasp what had happened Matthew took his weapon and struck them down. Matthew looked at the two bodies that laid in front of him in dismay at the realisation that he had taken his first life. "I'm sorry." He said softly to the two who had fallen to his lightsaber.
"Trust in the force." He told himself as he attempted to push away all the negative feelings he felt. Weiss was still in danger and it was not the time for him to be engulfed in his emotions. He rushed towards the door that led out to a corridor when the sound of Weiss shouting filled the empty halls. Matthew sprinted towards the sound of her voice dashing past members of the White Fang, deflecting their weapons and blaster shots and force pushing to clear his way. He bashed open the door that her voice had come from and felt himself growing angry at the sight. Weiss had been strung up like he had and the red headed man that Matthew now knew as Taurus held a knife to her throat, blood dripping from the gash above her eye that he had created.
"Get your hands off of her!" Matthew shouted as he activated his lightsaber, the blue hue engulfing the room with its radiant light. Matthew force pushed Taurus away from the wounded teen and sliced her binding off and caught her before she could hit the ground. Taurus took advantage of the fact that Matthew seemed to be off guard and unsheathed his katana leaping for a surprise attack, but one thing that he didn't take into account was that a jedi, even a jedi in training, was always on guard. Matthew quickly activated his weapon and easily blocked the attack, with a swift movement of his hand he disarmed Taurus and used the faunus' own katana to land a gash onto his eyes causing him to scream in pain. Matthew once again force pushed him away, but this time adding more force, pushing Taurus off his feet and into the concrete wall. He looked down at Weiss who had seemingly passed out and carried her out of the building while the rest of the White Fang were too busy recovering Taurus.
Weiss woke up on top of a cliff that overlooked the city they had been kept captured in. She felt a sudden pain come over above her left eye and placed her hand on a bandage that covered the wound she had received. She then noticed Matthew at the edge of the cliff on his knees and as he appeared to be meditating. At first she just sat there gazing at the tranquil state Matthew seemed to be in, fully unaware of his surroundings. After a few minutes Weiss picked herself up off of the ground and slowly walked towards the meditating padawan, not wanting to disturb him, but as she stepped closer Matthew slowly opened his eyes, awakening from his meditation.
"I'm happy to see you up." He said not even turning towards the Heiress.
"I've been up for a few minutes, but I didn't want to disturb you."
Matthew let out a small sigh and picked himself off of his kneeling position "Do you know where we are at? I've studied a bit about Remnant, but not enough to know the geography."
Weiss took a glance around their surroundings and immediately recognized their location. "Minstral." She simply said
"Minstral?" to which Weiss nodded in reply "Well what should we do, Weiss? I tried to contact my master, but all I'm receiving is white noise."
Weiss scrounged through her clothing not finding what she had begun searching for "And it seems that the White Fang have taken my scroll."
"Maybe there's a nearby inn that has a communicator we can use?"
"Good thinking, there is one in the city that my father and I frequent on his business trips." Weiss said as she began to walk back towards the city before a gentle and soft hand took hold of hers stopping her in her tracks.
"Maybe we should stay away from Mistral. The White Fang could still be looking for us."
"Of course." Weiss said in agreement. She glanced down at her hand that was still being held by the padawan that had saved her and her face had begun to once again turn bright red "Y-You can release my hand now."
Matthew glanced down at his hand not noticing that he had taken hold of Weiss' hand and he too had begun to turn red "S-Sorry, Weiss." He started as he quickly let go of her hand "We should head out now."
"Y-Yeah, good idea."
The two silently and awkwardly walked towards an inn they had discovered just outside the kingdom of Mistral. They made their way inside and were greeted by an elderly lady who welcomed them. Weiss asked the older woman for a communicator which she happily gave to Weiss. The sound of the communicator reached Matthew's ears as he was walking around the small but comforting inn. He heard Weiss reassuring her father that she was alright and that she was with the padawan. Just then the sound of his master too came from the communicator asking for his whereabouts, Matthew walked up to Weiss as she handed the communicator to him.
"Are you alright, my young padawan?"
"I'm fine, Master." He said trying to reassure his master
"Where are you two?"
"We've found a small inn just outside of Mistral, we figured it'd be too dangerous to stay at one inside the kingdom."
"Good thinking. We'll be able to arrange a pick up for the both of you, but that won't be till tomorrow morning. Do you believe the inn to be safe enough for one night?"
"Seems so."
"Good. Stay there, we'll be there tomorrow morning."
"Yes, Master."
"May the force be with you, Matthew."
"You as well, Master." Matthew handed back the communicator to the lady behind the counter and glanced at Weiss who had overheard the conversation "Looks like we'll be needing two rooms, Ma'am."
"Sorry, sweetie, but all we have vacant at the moment is one room."
"Just one?" Weiss exclaimed in disbelief
"Afraid so, but it is a king sized bed. More than big enough for you two."
"Very well, we'll take it."
"Matthew, we can't, It's only one bed. How are we supposed to sleep?"
"It's alright, Weiss. You can have the bed. My meditation gives me plenty of rest, besides I'll need to keep a lookout just in case. Weiss reluctantly agrees and the lady escorts the two to their room. Weiss did her best to freshen herself up in the bathroom with the complementary soaps that were provided and laid herself into the bed. Matthew got into his kneeling position and centered himself for his meditation. Weiss once again found herself watching the young jedi curious about the practices of the Jedi.
"Does every Jedi meditate?"
"Yes." He answered, his eyes remaining shut.
"Why exactly?"
"It helps us focus. Focus on ourselves, our connection to the force and everything its connected to. Allows us to speed up the healing of our wounds and clears our mind of any negative feelings. It also allows us to reflect on our choices… and actions."
Weiss noticed the slight pause within the last words he spoke which caused her to get up from the bed.
"What happened there?" Weiss questioned with a worried expression on her face.
Matthew then fully stopped his meditation and opened his eyes to meet hers "I… I killed two White Fang members… and that was the first time I had taken a life."
"I see…"
"It's not just that." Matthew began
"What is it?"
"When I saw that guy with his blade on your throat I… I was angry."
"You… were angry?"
"Yes. I wanted to kill him for hurting you… but we are taught not to give in to such feelings… but I couldn't help myself. I felt myself tapping into the dark side of the force."
Just then Weiss noticed that his hands had begun to shake an his voice began to tremble
"I felt the anger inside me, wanting to get out, wanting to kill him." Weiss then completely jumped out of her bed and held the young padawan close, attempting to relax and calm him "thank you." the heiress said "thank you for saving me."
Matthew felt himself relax, how he found himself whenever he was in a deep meditative state. The hug and warmth of the heiress gave him the sudden feeling of bliss and reassured him that everything was alright. Matthew composed himself and sat onto the lone chair that was in the room. "I'm sorry, Weiss. I lost myself there for a bit."
"You don't have to apologize for having emotions."
"No, but as a Jedi I should be able to have better control over them. I guess that just shows how much far I actually am from being a Jedi Knight."
Weiss couldn't help but notice the effect the mental exhaustion from everything that had happened today had on the young Jedi. She glanced over at the bed and motioned for the padawan to lay onto one side of the bed.
"Are you sure?"
"It's fine. We'll just make a divider." She said as he grabbed the surplus of pillows and made a line dividing the bed between them "Besides, It's my way of thanking you for tending to my wounds."
"Of course." Soon the two found themselves drifting into sleep after a long and tiring day. Soon the sun had begun to rise and the pillows that divided the bed between Weiss and Matthew were no longer there. Matthew had awoken to a sweet scent and felt a light weight on his forearm. He looked to his side and noticed that Weiss had been curled up in his arms. He knew this was wrong, but he couldn't seem to find the strength to let go. Just then the sleeping heiress began to shift in her sleep until she woke up. She looked up at Matthew and couldn't help but smile and the embrace she was feeling from him.
"I-I'm sorry." He sheepishly said as he jumped out of the bed "I don't know how the pillows were removed."
"N-No I'm sorry. I'm so used to sleeping with this stuffed bear my mother gave me when I was younger that I probably subconsciously removed them. The sound of an Atlas airship suddenly filled the room as it began to touchdown just outside of the inn. The two red flushed teens made their way outside and were greeted to the sights of Weiss' father and Master Rhysode accompanying them was what seemed like a small army of armed soldiers.
"Are you alright, Weiss?" Her father questioned quickly noticed the makeshift bandages above his daughter's eye.
"I'm fine, father. Really." He then led his daughter into the airship passing the Jedi master "This is why this war will not end through peace, but bloodshed." He scournfully said passing Master Rhysode.
"I'm sorry, Master." Matthew said as he approached his master with his head hung in shame.
"You have nothing to be sorry for, padawan. You kept her safe. You did what you were tasked to do. I'm proud of you."
Matthew gave his Master a silent and sudden nodd and the two of them made their way into the airship.
Back at Atlas Matthew awaited his Master outside the office of Jacques Schnee. Everything that had happened the day before begun to flood his thoughts. He felt unsure if he should give anymore details into what happened than he already had. Just then the sudden opening of the office door interrupted his thoughts and his Master walked out with a sorrowful look on his face. "Looks like we'll have to notify the council that we will not be having the support of the head of the Schnee household." The two jedis made their way back to the airship that was to take them back to the warship he and his master had called home for the past few weeks. Out of the corner of his eye he noticed Weiss standing by herself outside a balcony, seemingly deep in thought.
"Go say your goodbyes." His Master started noticing his gazing Padawan "I'll await you on the airship."
"Y-Yes, Master."
"Hey, Weiss." He said as he got closer to the heiress
Weiss turned to the young padawan, her cut eye now in stitches "So you two are leaving?"
"Yeah. My master has to report to the council."
"I'm sorry about my father."
"It's alright, it's not your fault. I guess there's just too much bad blood between him and the White Fang."
"I guess so…"
"I just wanted to say goodbye before we head off. It was nice getting to know you, Ms. Schnee."
"You as well, Master Jedi."
