Hi! This is my second fic, I'm currently on a 3 month break, as I've officially left school. I have got a lot of time on my hands for the next 12-ish weeks, so I'll try and finish this fic completely! I do NOT own these characters. Happy Reading :)

Chapter One - Mega Madness

This morning's madness had just begun for Regina. Waking up at the crack of dawn was necessary as her job required her full attention. It was quite easy for Regina to wake up at such hours, as she was more of an early bird. Well, at least that's what she thought she was. Perhaps her brian had just trained itself to do so over the 12 years she had been working.

After spending an hour or so on her hair and makeup, she paced quickly towards her kitchen; making sure she had all she needed.

Needless to say that she looked absolutely flawless, as she did almost everyday. Her house being one of the biggest on Mifflin Street, she definitely had a reputation to maintain. So it was extremely rare to spot Regina with a flaw on a weekend let alone a weekday.

Hastily tucking in her burgundy blouse into her tight black skirt, she made her way out of the house. She wasn't running late at all. If anything she was far from it. Regina intently left early to be there on time and to have at least an hour break before starting the broadcast in the morning.

It became quite frequent how herself and Ruby had gotten closer during the years they had been working. Ruby was relatively new to the job; just joining last year. Growing fonder of Ruby, it seemed that they would routinely meet up and discuss their weekend or dating life. That topic specifically interested Ruby as it was very rare for Regina to ever be involved with someone. After her last divorce with Robin - 5 years ago. Regina ventured into the world of dating. Not being incredibly reliant on it. She had barely any spare time on her hands.

The incoherent sound of the brunette's phone silenced her train of thought, placing the device up to her ear in a fast manner.

"Yes, well. I'll be there in a few minutes." She prompted, now getting into her mercedes; heading to work.

It was already immensely busy at work as she began to walk into her office. A small smirk was plastered on the brunette's face as she immediately caught sight of Ruby holding two cups of coffee in her hand, leaning against Regina's office door.

"Good Morning, Queenie." Ruby standing amused, now opening the office door for Regina.

"Morning, Hairy." Regina replied with a chuckle; now entering her office, taking the coffee from Ruby's grip. Ruby was barely able to call Regina nicknames early in their friendship, but now it seemed as if they were closer than ever. Inside jokes regarding other colleagues were also a running theme in their friendship. It was known by almost the entire firm that Regina only allowed Ruby to enter her office without knocking. Small things like that, symbolized the highlights of their friendship.

"We have some problems…" Ruby muttered, watching as Regina took the liberty of sitting down in her chair behind her desk.

"No. We don't have problems. What do we have, Ruby?" She questioned, expecting a reply as she quirked an eyebrow.

"We have solutions." Both women say at the same time, with matching grins.

"I'll go and get David and prepare him for the next story, I'll catch you at lunch?"

"Always." Regina replied with a grin.

There were thirty minutes of the break left until the show went on air, leaving Regina to have some alone time. Or maybe a few minutes to call other companies and introduce new stories to one another. Taking a small sip of her coffee and humming in relief. Ruby had remembered to put no sugars in it this time. That was definitely a relief. Soon, thirty minutes became five minutes. During all times like this, at the very last few minutes, that is when people would bombard her with problems. Just perfect.

"Stand by to go to three." A man who was placed at the sound tech behind the scenes of the show. David and Mary Margaret were the main hosts of the Morning show. They were amusing at times, which kept the viewers watching. But that just wasn't enough. Until today of course. The show's chef August whipped up a dish for the hosts to try, and was extremely proud of the result.

Mary Margaret had taken the advantage before both men to take a spoon full of August's secret dish. She moaned as the flavour hit her mouth in an instant.

"I have to say August. This is the best chicken cacciatore I've ever tasted." She hummed in delight. Holding her hand underneath the spoon to avoid spilling any unnecessary residue on her white shirt.

"It's duck cacciatore, actually." He corrected her,as he stirred the mixture into the pan once more.

Regina's smile dropped at the sound of 'duck'. This couldn't end well. Not for Mary Margaret either.

"Did he just say 'duck'?" She questioned, sounding rather alarmed.

"It's a great alternative for chicken, and it tastes just like it, right?" August reassured, after seeing how Mary Margaret began to grow paler than she was a few seconds ago.

"Duck? As in 'quack quack' duck?" David seemed to be alarmed too.

"Alright, get ready to take an early break." Regina stated, as she carefully observed Mary Margaret.

"Roll your break" Steve snapped through the mic attached to his headpiece.

The very second that the screen cut to the commercial, Mary Margaret had immediately puked all over the floor. David stood behind her and rubbed her back as she chugged a glass of water in time breaking measures. Perhaps next time, August should read the allergies sheet.

Editors note:

This fic is based on the film The Ugly Truth, with my little twist! I love the film immensely, and I feel that I could possibly go further with the plot! I hope you all enjoyed this first chapter.

Review and comment if you want! I'd love to hear what you all think :)
