I…… can't…..

I slowly thrust the knife into the surface of my skin, near my heart.

It…. Hurts…..

Blood slowly drips out…… It's… green….?

Green?

…………green?

Ah.. Courage, I remember now.

I quickly throw the knife away to my side, I almost left Courage all alone..

I start fearing that I might've stuck the knife in too far, I'm breathing heavily.

I wipe the blood that covers up my wound to assure that I didn't completely penetrate the flesh, It's fine, the knife just went through the skin.

I close my eyes, and let out a sigh of relief.

While my eyes are closed, I suddenly see that sad beautiful green mist surronding Courage while it's sitting down cross legged, Courage looks sad. The melody is also playing.

I open my eyes and sluggishly stand up, dust off my self, and tear off a piece of my sleeve and use it to wipe off the blood on my chest.

-Courage, don't worry about it. It wasn't your fault, we just couldn't remember in time. You just did what felt necessary for your survival.

-I would've done the same, so don't beat yourself up over it….

-Okay?

I close my eyes for a second, I see Courage nodding regretfully.

I turn my head to the side, I see Jenny and Birdy……

My eyes begin tearing up, a few tears fall down my cheeks.

I quickly wipe them away, if I keep crying like this, I'll make Courage feel even worse.

I should atleast make them a grave.

-Courage, let's go grab a shovel and dig out a grave for them.

……..…okay..

-But before we go, let me just… put them down and tidy them up a bit.

I walk up towards Birdy, untie his noose and quickly catch his body.

I put him down on the bed I was just laying at, and I put my palms on his severely damaged face.

This should work…

Davy………what……doing?

-When we merged our souls together, I realized that you had the power to heal wounds.

-So I figured that I should heal Birdy's cuts, I want him to look like what he normally looks like before I bury him.

-….I don't know how to activate your power though.

To………..heal…………..say……PSI……….Lifeup………….A

-Alright…… PSI Lifeup A.

Courage's Green mist envelopes my arm, and a light green light shoots out of my palms, seems like I really do have Courage's power now.

I remove my hands from his face… His face that is usually brimming of intelligence is restored.

He looks just like when he was alive..

Next is Jenny's turn, I take her down from her blood soaked noose, put her on the bed beside Birdy, and heal her too.

She looks so peaceful now…

-Alright, let's go grab the shovel….

I leave the room and exit the basement. The sky is blue, the sun is out,

the trees are green, and the wind is blowing ever so slightly.

It's beautiful outside, I would've never guessed the last day of humanity would be so beautiful.

And…. I'm also happy.

It's of course really shocking and tragic that Birdy, Jenny, Floyd, Jess are all gone….

But now I've met Courage, a being that is so vastly different than me, but we're the same..

I too became destructive after my parent's deaths, but unlike Courage, I had hands that pulled to the right path..

It was destined that we would meet….

Hopefully I can lend my hand to Courage.

I want to become the person that Jenny and Birdy were to me.

I want to help Courage...

I close the basement door, and start walking towards my house.

Upon arriving, I reach into my pocket and grab my keys.

I put the key into the key-hole and twist.

Ka-tic!

The doors creakily open….

The house is clean, but filled with dust. I didn't want to ruin the cleaning my parents did before they died…

I walked throughout the house and just soaked up everything, this is going to be my last time in here.

I went upstairs to my parents bedroom.

I opened the door to their room.

A messy bed, a ginormous makeup desk, a big wardrobe, wooden statues and alot carving knifes scattered around the floor adorn the room.

My mom always had every excessory, hair sprays, combs, shampoos and conditioners possible fitted on her makeup desk. She always wanted her big blonde curly hair to look as amazing as possible. Which it did!

It did take her over two hours everyday to style her hair though.

My dad had quite a strong hobby of wood carving. He used to always carve small wooden statues of either animals or people.

And because of that, he used to always buy a ton of wood carving knifes and small wood pieces to feed his hobby.

My mom didn't exactly like that the floor of our house was always covered in tiny wood shavings, but since my mom always made the house smell like hair products, she wasn't really in the position to tell him to stop.

He did however promise to always clean up after himself, which he rarely did!

He also used to always wear a lab coat, he wasn't a scientist or a chemist however. He just thought the looked cool and was always wearing one because of that.

I still wonder if my dad was just a kid stuck in a grown ups body.

My moms hair obsession and my dads wood carving obsession would be the financial death of us if they didn't have a job though.

They both were succesful writers, my mom was a sci-fi writer and my dad was more of a historic/fantasy writer.

Quite surprising jobs considering their hobbies huh?

I look over at the….. bed.

The bed is messy, and has a big giant stain on it, my mom's clothes and some…. Baby clothes are scattered all over it.

I feel my body getting heavy, goddamnit why did this happen?

They told me I was going to be a big brother that day.

I always wanted a sibling, so this was exciting for me, they told me I could take care of her, feed her, teach her. They even told me I could help them choose a name, it was going to be Ciel.

Her name was going to be Ciel Crown.

But I never got the chance to call her that, I cried so much when I heard about the crash…

Even though It may seem I moved on from all of that, a small part of me never really moved on. I just put on a brave face infront of Jenny and Birdy, I didn't want them to constantly worry about me everytime we three met.

But, today is the day I finally moved on, and help Courage…

I slowly close the door, and bid farewell to my parents and Ciel.

I begin going down the stairs and into the kitchen where the backyard door is.

I open it and see my dad's schack, we have a large array of tools and gadgets there, we never really used any of them though.

My dad was a bone-head when it came to fixing or making things, he just had them because they looked cool.

My mom was pretty good with handling tools though, so whenever a pipe or something broke she used to always dart in there as quickly as she could and fix it the issue.

I guess having a father that was experienced in carpeting helped her alot in life huh?

I open the shed door, the tools there are so rusty.

I close the door and see the shovel fall down behind me, it was behind the door.

I crouch down and pick it up, it's not rusty at all.

Neat.

I pick up the shovel, and carry it up on my shoulder as I close the shed door shut.

I go in back through the kitchen, man I am going to miss this place. Even if I never used it after the accident, I'll still miss just looking at it.

My mom's design choice was on point though, I never thought an old 80's look would look so good in a house that doesn't fit that aesthetic at all, but she proved me wrong!

I'll miss my dad's old trinkets and his weird sculptures of bears and other typical wood statue stuff.

Ah, maybe I should grab something from them as a keepsake.

I quickly run back up to their bedroom and grab a wooden statue of a bear and one of my mom's beige colored combs.

I look at the floor and see a pink sock that would have once belonged to Ciel…

I decide to take that too, she may not have been born but I love her.

I shoved the bear and sock in my pocket, except for the comb, it was too big.

And bid farewell, again.

Went down the stairs and out of the front door…

I look at the house, it's going to be the last time I see this house.

I turn my head away from the house and start walking towards the factory again.

After a few minutes, I arrive in front of the factory.

On the side of the building is some soft soil, considering they spent 50 years here, this should be the perfect place for them to be buried at.

I bring the shovel down from my shoulder, and let it fall into the dirt.

I put my foot on the head of the shovel and start digging.

I tried digging once when I was a kid, it was hard. It always looked so easy in cartoons but when I tried it I couldn't even dig a 30cm hole.

But now, I've just started digging and I'm already quite deep in, I really am so much stronger now.

I stop digging, jump back up and continue digging the other grave.

Once I'm finished with that, I jump back up and head inside the factory and open the basement door.

It was locked at first but I managed to pry that door open.

I headed down inside, and went straight to the bedroom. They were still there, laying on the beds…..

I pick Birdy up, his normally pointy blonde hair is now smoothly flowing ever so elegantly over his face.

I carry Birdy towards one of the graves I digged out, and place him gently down.

I feel so heavy.

I go back down inside the basement, and pick up Jenny.

Her face looks calm and soothing, it's beautiful. But unnerving, her face is usually brimming with innocence and childishness, always so full of energy.

But now, it looks mature, refined, calm.

I never knew she could look like that.

I carry Jenny towards the other grave I digged out, and placed her gently down unto the soil.

I feel even heavier..

I get up from there, and start looking around for a large slab of stone I can use as their tombstone.

After looking for a tiny bit, I spot a stone that's fit for the job, however, the stone is lodged into the ceiling of the factory.

Maybe Courage's PSI will come in handy.

I close my eyes and try to remember a PSI ability I could use……..

After a short while, the name PK Rockin' comes up in my mind.

………….Definitely changing that name later.

If I remember from Courage's memories correctly, this PSI ability is quite dangerous.

Especially because this ability was made by the boy that defeated Courage recently, I should be careful.

I open my eyes and point my palm towards the ceiling where the stone slab is lodged in.

I hesitantly utter.

-PK Rockin'

My arm is emitting bright green and bright red mist, and then a highly concentrated beam of psychedelic light shoots out of my palm and hits the ceiling.

The rock falls down, making a giant boof sound.

Clouds of dust are everywhere, the building however almost collapsed, but somehow managed to catch itself back up again.

I walk over to the stone slab while trying to clear our the clouds of dust, and clenching my body in preperation to lift it up.

I lift it up and, it feels like it's not even there.

My brains says that this weighs over 600kg, but my arms say this is just a piece of cotton.

Courage was quite the tough cookie huh?

I carry the stone to their grave and set it right uptop of their graves.

I'm going to test something out.

I take my pointer finger and attempt to carve out some letters on the stone, and it actually works.

I start writing Jenny Hill 1998-2014

And Johnny (Birdy) William 1998-2014

…I should also add Floyd's and Jess's name too.

I also carved in Floyd Kimathi 1967-2014

And Jess Kimathi 2004-2014

I step away from the stone… Some letters look a bit off but hopefully they'll forgive me.

I look at both of them one last time, this is goodbye.

I start tearing up, but I quickly wipe my tears away, crying will get me nowhere.

I take my shovel and start covering them up in dirt…. They're going to be the last humans ever to be buried on this planet.

And… I'm not with them…

I finish covering them up….. I look at their graves, I drop the shovel and I break down crying. I couldn't hold it in….

I was crying for nearly 10 minutes straight, all while the sun was heating up the newly covered graves….

While I was crying, I heard Jenny and Birdy's voice, they told me that, they'll wait for me.

They'll wait under a big oak tree, no matter how long it takes.

They forgive me, for what I've done.

They forgive Courage, for it's actions.

They'll welcome us both with open arms, they'll give us love, affection, support, kindness.

They love us, and we love them.

And they'll watch over us both.

Because we're their family.

I wipe my tears away, and realise I have something in my hand, it's two different colored bird feathers.

One is yellow, and one is red.

Jenny's and Birdy's favorite colors.

I put them in my pocket, and I stand up.

I wipe my tears away again, and adjust Jenny's bonnet on my head, it's time to bid farewell to my home.

I touch the tombstone.

-Goodbye, I love you all. See you two by the tree one day…

I let go off the tombstone, my chest feels a lighter.

I start walking away from the tombstone, and look back at the factory.

-….so, ready to leave Courage?

I close my eyes, Courage looks ready. It's eyes are brimming with determination, joy, but sadness.

It's still sad after what happened huh?

Should be fine though, nothing a little time and distraction can't help.

…..yes……I……ready……..

-Alright then, let's start our search then shall we?

I swiftly open my eyes up, put out my hand and yell out

-PSI Universe Teleport!

A big giant cloud of Courage's mist engulfs me up.

I feel myself disappearing from this world, I really am being teleported to another universe!

I can see the town of Birdsville is slowly disappearing into tiny fragments through a small visible crack in the mist, and start seeing space.

-Good bye Birdsville, I'll miss you!

I yell out my farewell to my birthplace, sure it might seem a bit silly saying good bye to a city, but hey I lived there my entire life, can't blame me can you?

The town has fully disappearing from my sight, or should I rather say that I disappeared from the town instead?

All I've got from Birdsville now is Jenny's hat, or bonnet as she always yells at me to call it, my mom's comb, Ciel's sock, and dad's wooden figurine, quite the assortment of items I've got huh?

If people, or rather other beings saw this they'd think I'm some sort of weird collector or something.

Not that it really matter though!

-Hey Courage, how long does this whole thing take?

I felt Courage sensing something.

-Okay! ….wait a bus station?

-That was unexpected.

The green mist starts clearing up, I land on what seems tiled floors.

The mist starts to disspate a bit more, I see dark blue colored walls, and I seem to be stuck in a small space too.

Courage said that this was a train station, but it clearly isn't?

I look behind me and see a toilet…. I'm in a bathroom…

I should've figured by the toilet-y choice of the stalls color!

I open the stall and am greeted by 8 set of sinks and mirrors, and since I came right out of the last stall to the right, I make my way to the nearest sink.

I look at myself in the mirror, I look like a zombie…. No, even a zombie would look prettier!

-Wow, I look horrible. I should take this chance and freshen myself up a bit.

-Hopefully the water in this universe isn't acid or something.

I……….can………..help……….make……….veins..and…….more……………gone……

-You can do that, sure go ahead! That'd be quite helpful!

I feel Courage taking control of the body, I feel it focusing.

I see the green veins disappear from our face, they reminded me of maggots quickly fleeing from somewhere, ew.

Courage used PSI Life up Y on our body.

Alot of the filth and tiny scratches disappear from our face, the only thing that's left is our eye that is completely green.

Can't……………remove……..sorry………….dangerous…..sorry……

-Ah, don't worry about it. Even if you could remove it, It'd be a shame to let something this cool looking disappear y'know?

I turn on the tap and water flows out, I wash my face and hands a bit. Fix my hair a little and then dry myself with paper.

I crumble the paper and throw it into the trash can as I make my way towards the exit door.

I take a hold of the handle and open it.

I am immediately blinded by the sun's fiery stare, cover my eyes up, but slowly adjust my eyes to the light.

I slowly open my eye lids and see a ginormous train station.

It looks just like the old London train stations, but futuristic equipment was clearly present all over the place.

In the background was rock music playing, it sounded nostalgic and quite good actually!

A big large train comes in and firmly stops, it looks absolutely amazing.

The train's doors open and a sea of what seems to be students pour out of the train, some of them aren't even human, they're aliens! I shouldn't be so surprised though, Courage is one too.

I suddenly hear a female voice say something in both english and an foreign alien langauge .

"Welcome to Skettia in the planet of Ceesiana! We hope you enjoy your stay!"

….Did I hear that right?

Planet of Ceesiana?

I'm not even on planet earth anymore, how are we going to find George and Mary at this rate!?

-Yeah but, aren't there like an infinite amount of universes to look in? And by the time I'm done searching this one I'll be dead!

-….So you're just casually dropping the news on me that I'm basically immortal just now?

I sigh shortly and cross my hands behind my back determined.

-Anyways, just daddling around here will just waste my sweet infinite amount of time, let's get searching shall we! After I go eat and sleep of course..

I look around for some more and see the exit, I go through it and prepare myself for the journey.

This'll probably be a tough and long road, but after all of that stuff I just went through, I honestly think that nothing will stop me! Hopefully! That'd be nice!

Armed with nothing but my sweet friends' words, her bonnet, my family's keepsakes and PSI.

Me and Courage venture off into the unknown in search of it's parents!

And also shops that offer free food samples, alongside with comfortable benches to sleep on for a while since I probably don't have this worlds currency!

Hopefully that's not the case though!

Afterword! (Read once you're done reading every option!)

God, I can finally catch a break here!

I've spent like 40 euro on energy drinks and wasted 20 hours of sleep for this to be done in time, seems like my plans writing this story were a tad bit too ambitious here huh?

But I don't plan on closing this laptop just yet, first I've gotta explain what Courage exactly is and stuff.

And why I chose to make this into a fan-fiction.

Then I'll sleep!

Alright, first things first.

The antagonist in the super popular and amazing snes rpg game, Earthbound (or MOTHER 2 as it's known in japan) is Giygas, a ultradimensional something something being of pure evil.

Giygas in that game gets defeated by the main crew and dies.

But I of course changed that a bit. We'll get to that after you read what I changed from Giygas' back story first.

In the first MOTHER game, (Earthbounds shitty NES prequel)

Giygas (or Giegue as it was called in this game) came down to earth as a child in it's races mother ship and got raised by two humans, George and Mary.

George was a researcher for something iunno what, but he at the time he was researching their race for their PSI abilities.

He apperently found some info about the secret of PSI on their ship and stole it from them, which then Giygas found out about and started hating George because of that.

It also wanted to destroy mankind because of something too, not sure what tho, didn't rlly pay that much attention to that games story tbh.

And then some shit happened years later which then caused Giygas to get it's ass kicked by George's great grandson.

But I changed it into something better.

Firstly I changed Giygas' name into Courage, cause Courage rolls off the toungue easier than Giygas.

Then, the meeting between Mary, Courage, and George is also different.

How is it different you may ask?

Well, first off, a baby Courage was found in a safety pod that crash landed in their house.

They took care of it as if it were their own child.

They taught it how to speak their own language, manners, played with it, that kinda crap.

George and Mary even managed to teach it how to properly use PSI too, even though they didn't know a thing about it.

At that time, George figured out the secret to unlocking PSI in humans. It has something to do with higher active brain procentage and crap.

And in the blink of an eye, ten years passed.

George invented a device called the Phase Distorter, that would allow two people to travel between time, space and universes, but as I said in the part 2 text.

They died instantly!

Courage, being understandably saddened by this event, wanted to bring them back.

That's when it got the bright idea of acquiring power and getting a PSI ability capable of universe teleportation and find them, basically the same ability as George's invention.

(it also didn't know that they died, so Courage still thinks that they're lost in another universe, unable to use the Phase Distorter)

Buuut, the way for Courage to acquire strength was a bit brutal.

Courage's race had a special gift of PSI and strength absorption, but in order to gain strength, they needed to kill something.

So in order to get the PSI ability, Courage decided to basically kill everything on that planet.

And how that turned out is written in the part 2 document.

After that whole thing, Courage fled into space and discovered that it had enough power to acquire that PSI ability and use it.

That it did, it searched everywhere but couldn't find them.

So it decided to just eradicate the entire PSI-less universe, which it did.

The power it got was so immense however, that it destroyed it's brain. Leaving Courage in that weird state.

And it's physical body also became destroyed, explaining why Courage is basically a giant green mist.

After getting that large amount of power, it decided to go back to it's original universe and try to take over it too again.

So it could gain even more power and hopefully be able to faster find it's parents.

That went horrible, it got it's ass kicked again by yet another bunch of kids which are the protags of Earthbound.

It barely fled away and decided to transport itself to yet another universe and quickly suck up a defense-less planet for easy recovery.

Then it met Davy and blah blah go read part 2 again if you forgot about what happens.

I should also explain why Jenny and Birdy were spared from Courage's claw when it first arrived.

The basement they're in is basically a place that's completely invisible to forces like Courage, it was made by a scientist researching time travel and the such.

The scientist was always a cautious person, so he designed the basement to basically be the safest place on earth (which eventually jenny and birdy proved wrong lol)

Then he created a time machine in the form of the helmet, which he used (explaining why it was outta juice) to go somewhere back or forward in time.

Also when jenny and birdy used the helmet, they sub-conciously sleepwalked and wrote remember/painted Courage on different shit before they woke up in their bed.

Courage also mentions the word "apple of enlightenment" to Davy when he's dying.

The Apple of Enlightenment is a machine in Earthbound which basically creates prophecies, Courage still has the machine in it's possesion.

Where does it keep the machine exactly at though?

That, we do not know, and will never know.
