In the streets of Station Square, a blue hedgehog was running. "Excuse me, coming through!" he told people as he raced past. He appeared to be around 25 years of age and was looking at his watch every so often to see how many steps he was getting in. "I'm gonna make record time today," he said to himself, holding up a couple of paper bags with something inside. "Tails will be thrilled when he finds breakfast is already there when he wakes up!"

He arrived at an apartment building and saw a car parked outside with a pink hedgehog struggling to take some heavy-looking suitcases out of the back. He approached her. "Let me help you with that," he told her, making her jump slightly.

"Oh, thank you," she said, stepping aside to let him grab the case. He grabbed it but instantly realised how heavy it was and almost dropped it. He was practically dragging it to the building.

"The name's Sonic by the way," he said while grunting.

"I'm Amy," she replied. "Amy Rose."

"So," said Sonic, "are you moving in or-?"

"Yes, I'm moving into my friend Rouge's apartment," she replied, carrying a few stuff in her hands.

"Oh, we live across the hall from Rouge," replied Sonic as he put down the suitcase to grab his breath.

"You live here?"

"Yeah. Well, I'm paying my roommate, Tails, rent to stay at his place. Is that what you're doing with Rouge?"

"Yeah."

"So what brings you to Station Square?" asked Sonic as he picked the suitcase up again and they went inside the building.

"Well I just moved out of my parents' house but I don't have a job yet so I'm staying with Rouge until I can afford a place of my own," she explained.

"That's neat," said Sonic as he approached the elevator. Then he noticed a sign saying 'OUT OF ORDER'. He looked at the suitcase, then realised he was going to have to take it upstairs. "FU-"

After a struggle, Sonic and Amy made it to their floor (which was the 6th floor, so Sonic was exhausted) and Sonic dropped the suitcase outside Amy's apartment.

"You could have asked someone for help," pointed out Amy, seeing Sonic sweating from working so hard.

"No, it's fine," replied Sonic, trying to make it look like he was a man who didn't ask for help in an attempt to impress her. "Nothing I can't handle."

"Alright," replied Amy as Sonic began to walk to his own apartment.

"See you later," he said as he unlocked his door. "Maybe we could meet up one time. Grab a chillidog maybe?"

"Yeah, maybe," replied Amy with a smile. Then Sonic entered his apartment. He found an orange two-tailed fox waiting for him.

"Hi, Tails," he said with a smile.

"You're back later than usual," pointed out Tails. "Normally you're back at the same time I'm getting out of bed."

"Well I bumped into a girl outside who was moving in across the hall and I helped her carry her suitcase up," he explained while Tails listened.

"Oh, Rouge's new roommate?"

"Yeah."

"Yeah, I think she told me about someone coming to stay with her. So, where's our breakfast?"

Sonic remembered he'd put their breakfast down to help Amy carry her suitcase and ran to the window to see if the bags were still there. To his relief, they were, but before he could run to get them a dog ran over and swiped the bags, sniffing the contents inside and then running away with them. "Dumb mutt!" Sonic called after it.

"I'll just grab something on the way to work," sighed Tails as he put on a jacket. "Shall we meet up at the Emerald Tavern during my lunch break?"

"Yeah, sure," replied Sonic. "Hey, I'll see if Amy wants to go. I'm sure you and her would get along great."

"Okay," replied Tails before opening the door. "See you, Sonic."

"Later, little buddy."
