This is a continuation of a story I had to abandon for various reasons. To read the beginning look for Amish Apocalypse.

Miles stretched his body, feeling his joints pop. It felt like he had been sleeping for 2 years. He knew intellectually the feeling of being safer wasn't real. After being on high alert for months it had given him a small measure of security knowing there were other experienced people keeping watch.

Outside the converted barn he could hear people moving around . Rueben had given the C.O.W group a few nights off of duty to get used to their new surroundings. It would be helpful because after the meal last night they still hadn't met all the new people they had picked up before high tailing it out of Wooster.

Standing up and stretching again he moved to slide the quilt giving his area a small degree of privacy aside. He saw the older couple he had intended to meet yesterday peeking in the corridor, looking uncertain. Miles had a feeling there was a language barrier they would have to overcome. He tried to give them a reassuring smile and motioned for them to follow him.

He saw Karan sliding open the large barn door and hurried to catch up to him. Suppressing a large yawn, Karan threw his hand up in greeting.

" How did you sleep Miles?"

" Better than I have in months. You?"

"The same." He gave the couple following a curious look.

Miles leaned in and whispered,"Still don't know their name. I'm hoping to find out today."

Rueben waved at them from his porch and motioned them to come over.

"Mornin'. Ready for the day?"

"As ready as we'll ever be."

Rueben clapped him on the back and nodded his head," After you take care of business come into the house for breakfast."

Sorry this is short. Trying to get back into it.
