"It's not getting away from me this time." Sokka said as he held up his spear, ready to impale the first poor fish he saw.

Mikael, on the other side of the boat, had a spear up as well. He never really liked the spears. He would always get sad when he killed a fish. But he knew it had to be done if he wanted to help feed the people in the village.

The boat they were in was quite small, but it could easily float him, Sokka, and Katara.

For as long as he knew them, he thought of them as siblings. Sokka was always protective of the two, being older than both of them. He often asked him for help with training the young ones at home. He taught me to fish, fight, and all kinds of stuff.

Katara, who was older than him by a few months, was always there for him and Sokka. She always was interested in what he was doing and always made sure he was happy. If not, she wouldn't leave him alone until she found out what was wrong. Of course, she was annoying and irritating at times, but he still loved her. He loved everyone at the village. Even the kids who were rude and talked back to the adults and him. He just couldn't stop loving them. They gave him a home and gave him love first. He was always going to be grateful for that.

Of course, he always feared that they wouldn't love him anymore if they found out….

"Watch and learn guys. This is how you catch a fish." He said. He looked at the water fiercely. Mikeal looked over to watch him. Truth was that he wasn't very good at spearfishing. He usually missed and barley ever actually caught one. He caught two in his entire life, with the help of Sokka.

He watched carefully as Sokka held his spear up, ready to strike at any second.

"Guys, look!" Katara said. He looked at Katara, who had actually caught a fish using her water bending. "Woah…" Mikeal said. Katara never failed to amaze him with her water bending. Any bending amazed him really. He wished he could waterbend..

"shhh Katara...you're gonna scare it away…..mmm I can already smell it cooking." He whispered. "Sokka, seriously, look!" Mikeal said. "She caught one! She really caught one!"

Sokka ignored him as Katara struggled to keep the water in one place. The bubble of water that had the fish neared Sokka. He brought up his spear, only to pop the water bubble. The water spilt all over Sokka and me. "Hey!" Katara yelled as the fish fell back into the water.

"Dang it, Sokka! Why didn't you look?" Mikeal asked, irritated. "Because I was trying to catch a fish." He angrily says as he tried to get the water out of his clothes. "And I could've done it if Katara hadn't tried to play with the magic water stuff."

"It's not Magic, It's waterbending. And It's a-"

"Yeah, yeah, yeah, an ancient art unique to our culture, blah blah blah…. Look, I'm just saying that if I had your powers, I'd keep my weirdness to myself."

"Weirdness, huh? Well, it's not that weird when you compare it to you checking yourself out all the time." Mikeal states. "I do not check myself out all the time!" Sokka exclaims, crossing his arms. "Please, you were looking at your muscles for at least 20 minutes last night before suppertime."

Katara laughs, knowing he was right.. Sokka turns back around. "whatever…" he mutters under his breath.

Suddenly, the boat crashed against a small block of ice. "Woah!" Mikael yelled out, frightened by the sudden impact.

The next thing he knew, they were crashing against several, going down a long current.

"Mikeal, grab your paddle!" Sokka yelled as he began to paddle. He immediately dropped his spear and picked up his paddle and began to repeat Sokka's movements, hoping to get out of this situation.

They were still crashing against ice blocks and going fast down the current. "Left! Go left!" Katara shouted. Mikael listened and put his paddle on the right side. Sokka, however, kept his on the left side and continued paddling. "SOKKA! LEFT!" Katara yelled at him.

Just as Sokka brought his paddle to the other side, the 8ce blocks were crowding together, crashing into each other.

Mikeal looked and saw two big blocks coming towards both sides of the boat. He knew how these boats were made. Sure, they could withstand really strong winds and such, but those ice blocks would not only be the end of the boat, but quite possibly the end of them.

He grabbed his spear. "Guys, Jump out!" He yelled. He stood up and jumped onto the nearest ice block he could see. It was quite large.

He instantly turned around and reached out the long handle of his spear. He reached it out to Katara as Sokkka stood to jump.

She grabbed it and jumped out. She got one foot onto the block and the other in the water. I quickly pulled her up fully onto the block. Sure enough, the boat was crushed, along with the supplies we brought.

But that wasn't the important thing right now.

"Guys, guys..are you both okay?" I frantically asked. "Yeah, I'm okay." Sokka said, trying to catch his breath. "Me too. I'm okay." Katara said, also trying to catch her breath.

"Good….good...good." I said in-between breaths.

After a few good moments of breath catching, Katara spoke up. "You call that left, Sokka?"

"Me? Mikeal was paddling too, y'know."

"Yeah, but unlike you, he actually listened to me!"

'Oh great. Another argument.' Mikeal thought. He always hated conflict. Especially between these two. They'd argue over the dumbest things sometimes. He couldn't stand their fighting and their arguing.

"Oh, well if you don't like my steering, then why didn't you just waterbend us out of the water, huh?" He said, mocking the hand movements. "So it's my fault, huh?" Katara said angrily. "No, it's no one's fault." Mikeal said, trying to solve the conflict. "Y'know what? I think it actually is my fault." Sokka stated. "I should've left her at home. Typical of a girl to screw everything up."

Katara didn't take lightly to Sokka criticizing her gender. Mikeal knew she was about to let him have it. There was no point in trying to calm her down now. He stood back and let Katara do her thing.

"You are the most sexist, immature, nut-brained.. I'm embarrassed to be related to you! Ever since Mom died, it's been me and Mikeal doing all the work around camp while you were off playing soldier!"

"Uh… Katara?" Sokka said, looking behind her.

'What's he looking at?" Mikeal wondered. He looked up to see the iceberg behind her cracking.

"We even wash all your clothes! Have you ever slammed your socks and your underwear? Lemme tell you, NOT PLEASANT! Isn't that right, Mikeal?" She said, looking at him. "Katara, I-"

"Settle down!" Sokka exclaimed, frighted over the cracking iceberg.

"No, you know what? I am DONE taking care of you. From here on out, you are on your own!"

Mikeal finally noticed that Katara's waterbending was the cause of the cracking iceberg. "Katara, STOP!" He yelled.

They all looked up to see the iceberg fully broken into two huge pieces of ice. They both fell into the sea, sending them flying back on the block. Katara, Sokka, and Mikael got down and huddled next to each other, hoping not to die a cold death.

They came to a stop, quite far from where they were.

"Okay, Katara, you've gone from weird to freakish." Sokka said. "I did that?" She asked, confused and surprised. "Yep." Mikeal simply said. "Good going."

Suddenly, something under the water started glowing. "What the…" Mikeal muttered.

They all stood and backed away. Mikeal grabbed his spear. He was honestly quite surprised that he didn't just lose it.

He held it out, ready to attack.

Slowly, the glowing object emerges from the water.

'An iceberg?' Mikeal thought. Never in his entire 13 years has he seen something like that. And he's seen some pretty strange stuff.

As the glowing iceberg became still, they saw something in there….someone.

It looked like a guy… with glowing arrows on his hands and on his head.

Mikeal was confused, but still felt Threatened by the strange thing. He wasn't about to let the curiosity of what it was overcome his will to defend himself, Katara, and Sokka.

Suddenly, he opened his eyes, which were also glowing somehow. "He's alive! We've got to help him!" Katara exclaimed, grabbing Sokka's club and running towards the iceberg. "Katara, stop!" Mikeal yelled. "We don't know what that thing is!" Sokka yelled. She didn't listen to either of them and continued to run toward it.

Her brothers then chased after her.

Once they all approached the iceberg, Katara started to hit it. She hits it once. Nothing happens. She hits it again. Nothing. She hits it again. Nothing. She hits it one last time. This time, air comes out, knocking Katara back. Mikeal and Sokka caught her and helped her to her feet.

The iceberg completely broke open. A beam of blue light shot up into the sky.

Mikeal was memorized by the light. He was also very confused and a little bit frightened. But mostly memorized.

The light lasted a little bit longer before diminishing. There was still light coming from the inside of the iceberg.

Suddenly, he emerged. A boy emerged from the ice, the arrow on his head and his eyes shining bright. "Stand back!" Mikeal yelled, pointing his spear at him.

Suddenly, the light faded and he fell over. Katara caught him. He was unconscious.

Mikael turned my spear around and started poking his stomach, seeing if he'd wake up. "Cut it out!" Katara said.

The boy groaned and slowly opened his eyes to see Katara. They looked at each other. "I… I need to ask you something.." He softly said to her. "What is it?" She asked. "Come closer…"

She obeyed. "What?"

He stayed silent for a moment. Abruptly, his eyes widened and a smile grew onto his face. "Will you go penguin sledding with me?" He inquired. "Uhh..sure, I guess." She said.

He smiled widely. "Cool." He said. He stood up and looked around. "What's going on?" He asked, scratching his bald head. Sokka took my spear and pointed it at the boy. "You tell us!" He demanded. "How'd you get in the ice? And why aren't you frozen?" He poked him in the stomach. The boy pushed the spear away, completely unphased.

Suddenly, the groaning of an animal of some sort was heard. The boy climbed over the iceberg and jumped over.

Katara, Sokka, and Mikeal all exchanged looks of shock. "I-..I… what just happened?" Mikeal asked, confused. He thought this was some kind of alien or a god...but he's just a kid.

The three made their way to the other side of the iceberg where the boy was.

They saw him pulling on the lips of a huge bull or whatever it was. It was BIG, that's for certain.

The bull thing picks up the boy with its tongue. "You're okay!" The boy said, laughing. The bull set him down and he turned to hug his nose. It stood up. It had an arrow on his big head, just like the boy.

"What is that thing?" Mikeal asked, curiously filling his soft voice.

"This is Appa, my flying bison!" He said. "Yeah, and this is Katara and Mikeal, my flying siblings." He said, sarcastically.

"So, you guys live around here?" He asks. Sokka points the spear at him once again. "Don't answer that! Did you see that big beam of light? He was probably signaling the Fire Navy."

I looked down, reminded of their hate of the Fire Nation.

"Sokka, he's just a kid. He's definitely not from the Fire Nation. "This is Sokka. And you are…?" Mikeal asks. "I'm- AhHhhhhhhhHhhhHhhHahhHhhhHHHHCHOO" He sneezed, blowing air in their faces and going up in the air.

They look up to see him practically floating down.

Once he is face to face with us again, he answers. "Aang." He rubs his nose. "You just sneezed and flew 10 feet in the air!" Sokka exclaimed, shocked. "Really? It felt a lot higher than that." He says.

"Are you...an airbender?" Mikeal asks. He always thought that they were extinct. Killed off so many years ago. There's no way he's one…

"Yup. Sure am." Aang boldly answered.

Mikeal was Speechless. He always thought that The Fire Nation killed them all. He had no clue of what to think.

"Magic beams, flying bison, Airbenders...I think I got midnight sun. I'm heading home to where things make sense." He says, walking away. "How you getting home, Sokka? We don't have a boat anymore, remember?" Mikeal says. Sokka stopped and looked out to the sea. Not a boat in sight. Only water and ice.

"Appa and I could give you a lift." Aang suggests before doing an air twirl onto Appa's head. "We'd love a ride! Thanks!" Katara says. "Yeah, thank you, Aang. We appreciate it." Mikeal says. They get onto the large Bison. "Uh-uh. No way I'm getting on that giant fluffy snot monster." Sokka says.

"Well, it's either this or swimming home. And I don't think you'd get too far in these cold waters." Mikeal says, helping Katara onto the saddle of Appa. Sokka opens his mouth to say something, but closes it in defeat.

He joins us on Appa, looking moody. "Alright! Hold on, first time flyers! Here we go!" Aang says. "Appa, yip-yip!"

The bison jumped into the air, only to fall into the water and start swimming. "Wow, that was truly amazing." Sokka says, sarcastically. "Sorry guys. Appa's just tired, that's all. Just give him a few hours or so to rest and we'll be soaring through the skies in no time!" He says.

This kid seemed friendly to Mikeal. He looked no older than 13. Maybe 12. He didn't fully trust him though. He just needed to make sure he wasn't bad.

"If you say so…"

He noticed Aang smiling at Katara, who was staring out at the sea. "What's got you smiling like that?" He inquired.

His smile fades. "Oh, I was smiling?" He asks, surprised. Sokka groans in annoyance.

As the giant bison swam through the sea, Mikael layer his head down, deciding to try and get a nap before they made it home.
