It was finally time, Tikki had waited long enough to tell her chosen. "Marinette?" She asked in her sweet, high pitched, voice.

"Yes Tikki?" Marinette replied. She was busy designing a new shirt.

"Well, there's something I need to tell you…" The kwami trailed off.

"Is something wrong?" The brunette asked, turning towards her friend.

"I- well- It's important, but I don't know how you'll react." The little god remarked, worriedly.

Marinette cupped the blob in her hands. "You can tell me anything, Tikki." She assured.

At that, Tikki smiled. "OK, well…" She looked at Marinette, who was patiently waiting. "Now that you're the guardian… Wow this is hard." pondered the kwami. She swore to never tease her chosen about telling Adrien about her feelings again.

"I can wait." Marinette offered. How kind she was.

Tikki shook her little head. "No! I need to tell you now." She took a deep breath and looked at the girl. "Now that you're the guardian, you need to know Cat Noir's identity…"

"What!?" Exclaimed Marinette.

"Yeah…" Muttered Tikki, looking at the ground.

Marinette opened her desk drawer and took out a selfie she had taken with Cat Noir. "Does he need to know mine?"

"No, the rules on your identity are the same." The blob confirmed.

"Won't that… ruin our friendship?" The girl asked, with a mix of worry and sadness in her voice.

Tikki looked at the ground. "I-I don't know." She said. She herself knew his identity, but Marinette did not.

"He doesn't like to be in the dark. He already is on so many things and…" Marinette trailed off.

"I'm so sorry Marinette, but if you need to give him something, take his miraculous, etc., you need to know.

Marinette looked at the photo, then at her kwami. "Can't you just tell me? Then he won't know I know-"

Tikki cut her off, "I would, trust me! But, kwamis are not allowed to give information on other heroes, it's for everyone in Paris's safety." She looked at the photo as well.

"I guess I'll need to potentially ruin our friendship then." Marinette huffed. "Do I have to do it now?"

"Tell him tonight, at patrol." Tikki suggested. "I'm sorry Marinette, but this is important."

"I understand."

Tikki smiled. "I knew you would!"

"How do I let him know easily?" Asked the child.

Tikki looked at her. "You could always try small talk. You could also try smoothing things over somehow."

"You mean like giving him some sort of big responsibility, or…" Marinette pondered.

"No. That is a silly idea. I'm sorry, but it's true." Tikki admitted.

Marinette looked sad. "Oh, OK. I guess you're right. What would it be anyway…" She pretended to chuckle, but the kwami saw right through her.

"I'm so, so sorry Marinette." Tikki pleaded, flying up to the girl's shoulder.

Marinette looked away. "It's OK Tikki. It's not your decision, I'll tell him tonight." She turned back to look at the miniature god wearing a purely fake smile. A fake smile that Tikki could see straight through.

Cat Noir ran across the roofs of Paris, the adrenaline was always a delight. "Hey M'lady!" He said, dropping next to the spotted heroine.

"H- Hey Chaton." She waved.

"M'lady? Is something wrong?" He asked, hearing the worry in her voice.

She looked out into the distance. "No, just sit down." She said patting the spot next to her.

The cat came and sat next to her. "Talk to me." He insisted.

"I-" Ladybug sighed. "How have you been doing?" The girl asked, trying to start slow.

"Are you sure that you're OK?" The cat asked, now worried himself.

"The stars are nice tonight." The bug commented, avoiding the question.

"Hey, I know something's up. You can tell me anything." Cat Noir claimed the same words as she did with Tikki.

She looked away. "I don't know how." She muttered under her breath.

"What was that?" He asked.

She turned around, stuttering, "Oh! Uhh… akuma! Yea- yeah. Akuma…" She trailed off.

He wasn't convinced, probably because the one time she wanted one there was no akuma. "Just tell me." The cat pleaded, wanting to know what was on his lady's mind.

"I-" She looked at him, glassy eyes. "You know how I'm the guardian of the miraculous now?" She asked nervously, receiving a suspicious nod. "Well… I need to know your identity…" She revealed.

The blond's face lit up. "You mean, we're doing a reveal!?" He asked excitedly.

Now was the moment. She had to tell her kitty the truth. "No…"

"But you just said…"

"What I mean is, I need to know yours, but you can't know mine…" She trailed off.

Cat Noir's face was not it's usual cheery self. To say he was shocked, would be an understatement. "What?" He remarked, sadness creeping on to his features.

"I- I'm so, so sorry!" Ladybug pleaded, her bluebell eyes turning glossy as she spoke.

The feline hero looked at her. "Really? Are you?" He snapped angrily.

"Yes! I am! Do you think I want to know your identity? I want us to remain friends, Cat Noir! If I had a choice, I wouldn't be asking you this!" Ladybug sobbed, clutching her hands to her chest. "I know you're always in the dark, and I know you don't like it, but we have no choice!" She rambled. She began to lower her tone, "I just want to stay friends."

Cat Noir understood, but he needed time to breathe. "I understand, Ladybug, But I need some time to process this information. OK?" He showed a fake smile, one that could fool all, except the spotted heroine. He didn't call her M'lady. That could only mean her greatest fear at the moment, was coming true.

She looked into his pure green eyes, and nodded. "This is a lot of information to take in for me too. I also just found out today. You should tell me by the end of the week."

The masked boy faked another smile. Nodding he said, "Bye LB! See you tomorrow!" And he vaulted away.
