Somewhere in the shrine more specifically inside the tomb of the witch echidna , a person known as natsuki subaru was banging his head against the ground over and over again for not being able to process the death he had just suffered.
His little teeth tearing my flesh.
Shredding my organs from the inside.
Eating my whole body no matter that I was still conscious.
The death at the hands of the beast known as the great rabbit had caused insanable wounds in the boy's mind, he could never forget that, even if he wished it with all his strength, trying to recover and gather the little sanity he had, the boy heard a voice in his head.
Behold an inconceivable present
[subaru: wait echidna I'm not in the mood for that shit, I don't even want to try your damn tests right now].
Even with subaru being against doing the test it simply began without further ado.
-The cries were heard all over the place, accompanied by the completely broken voice of a woman who was hugging the body of a man who was lying dead in that room, you said you wouldn't leave me alone.
What is this, you are supposed to have shown me this, but what is the point of reminding me of my failed attempts, what do you gain by showing me these worlds that I have left behind for me those worlds no longer matter, I have managed to return to the past with a return by death to fix them.
- The scene changed quickly now instead of showing an emilia crying for her death it showed something different.
A little girl was running through a mansion while the constant sound of metal clashing with something echoed all around. Quickening her pace the little girl hid in a room and looking around she decided to hide inside a closet, small tears came out of her eyes which started to run down her cheeks.
No I don't want to see this please if you have any kindness echidna don't make me see this I beg you I renounce your tests, I don't want to go through with this, but please stop this whole damn show.
- Tears keep coming out of the little girl while she in a low voice says a few words, Subaru please save us while the girl kept saying this, we can hear some stealthy steps through the hallway
IT'S AN ECHIDNA GIRL Why the hell do you want me to watch someone like Elsa kill a girl? Why do you want your twisted test to continue? I already said that I did not want to continue, you are supposed to finish it this is how it works.
- I found you little girl said the soft voice of a woman as the girl looked with complete terror at the figure in front of her. Don't worry I'll send you to sleep with the angels, I usually prefer to gut my victims, but this time I'll do it fast, take it as a gift. I know Subaru will rescue me because he is Petra's hero," said the girl in a low voice as her head was torn off her body with a clean cut.
This didn't happen this never happened I will fix everything I will stop this from happening I will save you Petra I promise I will not let you die I would say a completely desperate Subaru as the guilt continued to invade him.
The sight of the strange worlds with twisted endings continued to make the heart of that young hero known as Natsuki Subaru even more filled with guilt, although to his luck he finally finished that twisted test.
Now finding himself in that green field the first thing his eyes could see was the witch of greed echidna who seemed to have a slight smile on her face for seeing him.
[Subaru: What I just saw is real, it really all felt like it happened for real he said with empty eyes as I took a seat to accompany the greed witch].
With a simple blink and a disinterested look the greed witch looked at the young man, simply taking her cup she took a sip of tea to finally give a small sigh. Realizing that if she wanted to continue the talk she would have to answer the boy's question in front of her.
[Echidna: What you just saw are only constructions that use your memories as a base, although I'm not sure if those worlds could have happened, but it's not something you have to worry about].
[Subaru: If those worlds were built based on my memories how could you show me what happened after my deaths, how would you know what exactly happened after that].
[Echidna: You should calm down a bit, it seems that the ordeal affected you much more than I thought. Maybe you should drink some tea and eat some cookies, maybe that will calm you down a bit].
With his eyes showing hostility the black-haired man got up from his seat. He slammed his fist on the table and knocked over the tea cups and then threw the remaining items off the table as he breathed heavily. Never taking his eyes off the witch of greed.
[Subaru: stop playing games at once echidna, answer what I asked you, how do you know about these failed worlds, are you hiding something from me that doesn't even come close to these tests].
[Echidna: Yes you are very bad subaru, first you refuse my tea then you destroy the table I worked so hard to prepare for you and now you yell at me. You definitely don't know how to deal with a poor damsel like me, but to answer your question it's something that just does this test shows you different presents that could have happened I think in your world they knew it as the theory of alternate realities].
Without saying anything the black haired boy threw himself to the ground starting to hit the ground with his fists while cursing. Damn it that means I never saved anyone did I always fail and never kept my promise to protect them. Why, why, why, why, why, why? If you wanted to give me a useful power you damned witch you would have at least given me one that would allow me to save them and not give me false illusions. If those worlds really exist then my emilia, my rem and the others died and suffered without me being able to do anything, if I failed and I really couldn't save anyone then my goal of being some kind of hero has failed, not even giving my life in exchange to achieve something will help me to get the happy ending I've longed for.
[Echidna: Calm down a bit Subaru as I told you there is nothing that proves if those worlds really existed so stop terrifying your mind with something that isn't even proven to be true].
[Subaru: How the hell do you want me to calm down if I find out that everything I've done has been in vain. All my efforts simply have not mattered because what is the use of saving them if in other worlds I have failed them thousands of times and I have let them die in an inhuman way, perhaps something of what I have done from the beginning has made sense].
First of all I would like to apologize if the fic has some spelling mistakes, the truth is that English is not my main language and this is one of my first fic, I would appreciate any kind of constructive criticism about my writing and the story.
