Disclaimer: I would like to confirm that I do not own the movie "Christmas Vacation"as it is the property of director Jeremiah S. Chechik and writer John Hughes. I also do not own "Fairy Tail" as it is the property of Hiro Mashima.
Notice: It is that time of year again where we celebrate the holidays. I know things have been tough from everything that's currently been happening, but I only ask we stay positive and keep our spirits up and God bless you all to stay safe.
This is another idea that was suggested to me in a chat by fantasyandromancelover on Tumblr. It never occurred to me whether to make a Fanfiction story of Fairy Tail role playing the Griswold family on this joyous holiday. But she planted the ideas to me and I'm all set to do it and hopefully you enjoy this. We all need a good laugh on Christmas.
Chapter 1
It was December 1st and the Christmas season was approaching. Winter had approached and snow was everywhere. Driving through the countryside in their car was the Dragneel family. The family consisted of four: Natsu, the father, Lucy, the mother, Chelia, the oldest daughter and Romeo, the youngest son.
During their drive, Natsu and Lucy were spending a majority of it singing Christmas songs. They were singing "Oh, Come All Ye Faithful." Chelia and Romeo were sort of embarrassed being stuck in their car hearing their parents singing.
It's not that they don't mind singing the songs, it was their parents singing that was bad enough. If anybody had the worst voice when it came to singing, it had to be their parents and they somehow doubt they would stand out in church in their singing.
After they had finished singing the song, they switched to "Deck the Halls". Natsu and Lucy try to get the kids to sing along with them, but there was no way they'd be caught dead singing with their parents.
Unable to stand the songs anymore, Romeo decided to start a conversation. "Dad, can you explain again what we're doing?"
"I'd thought you'd figured that out by now, Romeo," Natsu said. "We're kicking off our fun, old-fashioned family Christmas by heading out into the country in the old front wheel drive sleigh to embrace the frosty majesty of the winter landscape and select the most important of Christmas symbols."
"Are we driving all the way out here so you can buy another one of your Christmas hams you love so much?" Chelia asked.
"Nah, I got one already," Natsu answered. "Better to be prepared. What we're doing today is to look for the Dragneel family Christmas Tree."
"How much farther are we?" Lucy asked her husband.
"I'd say about 3 or 4 songs until we get there," Natsu replied. "So let's keep singing."
Romeo sighed. "Oh, no."
They began to sing "We Wish You a Merry Christmas". As they continued to sing, something caught Natsu's attention. In the view mirror, Natsu noticed a pickup truck that was within a few inches of the rear bumper.
Noticing the Natsu was not singing, Lucy looked at him and asked, "What's the matter?"
"That," Natsu pointed in the view mirror. "Some jackass is riding my tail."
Lucy and the kids look around behind. The pickup truck blows its horn.
Knowing how Natsu reacts in these types of situations, she knew it was better to resolve it quickly before it got out of hand, again. "Just slow down and let him pass, Natsu."
Not wanting to cause problems, especially with the kids in the car, Natsu slows down the car and gestures for the pickup truck to pass. However, he only drove closer and closer towards the rear. Natsu saw the driver making a smart ass smile and knew he was doing it on purpose. He honked his horn, gesturing for the driver to pass already.
Lucy knew these were smartass drivers who go out picking random cars and messing with people in them. She knew they were trying to get a reaction out of Natsu.
"They're just doing it to get a rise out of you, Natsu," Lucy told him. "Just ignore them."
"What do you think I'm doing," Natsu said, feeling his blood boiling. Knowing he couldn't take it anymore, he try to think of something. "Hey, kids! Look, it's a deer!" That distracted Lucy and the kids long enough for Natsu to shake his fist at the drivers, which indicated "You want a piece of me!"
Natsu shaking his fist was enough to set off the drivers. They figured that two can play at that game.
Natsu quickly tucked his fist back in the car before Lucy or the kids noticed. Lucy looked at him with a suspicious look and knew something was up or it was something Natsu did.
The drivers in the pickup truck went right up ahead of the Dragneel family's car and began to slow down to teach them a lesson. Lucy knew the drivers wouldn't be doing this unless someone set them off.
Lucy looked at Natsu with an upset look. "Natsu, what did you do?"
"What?" Natsu responded, as if he were innocent. "I didn't do anything."
The driver stopped and drove, catching Natsu off guard as the car swerved for a bit and had control of the vehicle again. The drivers were getting a kick messing with the Dragneel family. Deciding they had their fun, they drove right up ahead.
Knowing they did that deliberately, that was enough to make Natsu angry. It was time for some payback. He put the car in gear and began driving towards the pickup truck as fast as he could.
"Natsu, what are you doing?" Lucy asked, nervously. "Are you trying to get us killed?"
"Hey, when someone like that messes with you on the road, it's only natural you'd want payback," Natsu told her. "I'm going to bypass them to show them who's king of these streets. Prepare yourselves to eat my rubber, Hillbillies!" Natsu floors it.
"Actually, dad, I think you mean, prepare to eat my dust," Romeo corrected.
"Well, now I'm changing it," Natsu told his son. "I think 'eat my rubber' has a nice ring to it."
Natsu was getting closer and closer and finally, he was able to pass the drivers that were messing with him. "Who's stupid now, liver lips!" Natsu started laughing. It felt so good to do that. "You see, kids. An important lesson, kids. If some moron wants to mess with you on the road, be sure to retaliate with road rage."
Lucy shook her head. "How is that an important lesson? Whatever your father just said, kids, erase it from your minds."
"Oh, come on, Lucy, there's nothing wrong with a little road rage," Natsu told her, trying to lighten the mood. Let's just forget about it and keep singing."
"Um… dad, I hate to bring up some bad news… they're back," Romeo informed.
Natsu glances out his window. The drivers attempted to speed it up to get right past Natsu. Knowing if that's how they were going to play it, Natsu did the same and speeded right next to them.
"Natsu, are you crazy?!" Lucy shouted. "When I planned on enjoying the holidays, speed racing a bunch of hillbillies is not what I had in mind! Just let it go! I don't want to spend the holidays dead or be known as the wife who died during the holidays because of her husband's stupidity!"
"You can solve this peacefully when it's your turn to drive, okay, honey," Natsu told Lucy. "All of you, just relax. I am in complete control here."
"Except for controlling the hot head of yours," Chelia remarked.
Seeing the driver getting way ahead of them, Natsu attempted to floor it again. "Okay, jackass, time to get busy."
As Natsu floored the vehicle, something caught Romeo's attention that made him really nervous. Lucy and Chelia took notice of it as well while Natsu was too distracted trying to catch up with the drivers.
"Um… dad, we've got more bad news coming our way," Romeo told him.
Natsu was too late to notice it. Right above him, there was a lumberjack truck. They were driving right below it. Natsu realized those hillbilly drivers must have contacted their friends on the radio. The situation did not look good.
Natsu tried to remain cool in this situation this time and said, "Okay, don't worry. Let's not panic."
"Let's not panic!" Lucy exclaimed. "We're stuck under a truck thanks to you!"
"Honey, let's not fight about whose fault this is," Natsu said, looking like he was about to panic at any moment.
"Which really is yours if you hadn't lost your temper," Chelia pointed out.
Lucy knew in a situation like this, it was best to pray. "Our father in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Please forgive my husband of his sins, for he doesn't know what he does."
"Oh, god, I don't want to die!" Natsu screamed.
Natsu turned the car away from the truck without thinking and straight up ahead was a bulldozer. The entire family screamed as Natsu turned the vehicle once more as they flew right off a small hill. Ironically, they crashed right in the area near where the Christmas Tree farm was at.
A bit traumatized by the road rage experience, Natsu looked up to the sky and said, "If you're listening, God. I promise never to lose my temper again."
"That'll be the day," Chelia replied with sarcasm.
Notice: With the Christmas season coming up, I'm planning to do a bunch of "Fairy Tail" Christmas movie parodies and here is what I have planned out so far:
How the Grinch Stole Christmas
Gajeel as the Grinch
Wendy as Cindy Lou Who
The Muppet Christmas Carol:
Fairy Tail characters starring as The Muppets
If you have a favorite Christmas movie you want me to do a parody using Fairy Tail, feel free to make a suggestion and I will make it happen.
