GATE: Soviet Assault
(I don't own GATE or World in conflict)
10:00 A.M, 1979
A UAZ quickly went to the square of fallen fighters in the city of Volgograd also known as Stalingrad before the death of Stalin, Colonel Vladimir Orlovsky was looking outside,
He saw the scattered corpses of men, women, and children. Who could have done such a thing? as they passed he saw some people wearing roman style armor and clothing, what happened here, why were these people wearing roman style armor, and why they brutally murdered civilians, as he thought, they reached a tent. The car stopped and the colonel stepped out of the car, he went into the tent.
"What happened here?" the colonel asked, as major returned his face to the colonel. "oh, it's good to see you comrade colonel, as you can see here there was a gate opened a few days ago and after a few Hours' roman soldiers rushed in and killed some of them, civilian casualties are about 3000 and about 500 civilians are M.I.A."
"How about these soldiers where are they come from?" Colonel asked as he was shocked about what happened here earlier.
"as we know, some Roman soldiers with lack of modern world technology rushed through the gate, killed the civilians, and demolished some buildings, and they had Ogres, dragons, orcs, trolls, and some rabbit-eared humanoid creatures, we managed to capture some of them along with some Romans and other creatures."
The colonel sighed, he was angry to see those innocent civilians die at hands of those Romans, it wasn't worse than Nazis but still, it was bad enough to enrage everyone. He was also worried about Maria Malashenka, his nephew's wife and her daughter, they were on a trip to visit their family in Volgograd, if his nephew,
Cpt. Nikolai Malashenko finds out that they were here or even if he hears that they are dead, he will be angry enough to slaughter the hell out of those Romans.
"Who was in charge of defense here?" Colonel asked "Captain Igor Vasilievich Romanov, he put up a good fight against those bastards as he fends off armies with his platoon." as Colonel Orlovsky heard Romanov's name, he was surprised to see one of his subordinates was in charge of defense.
"I want a detailed report about this mess, plus I want to see names of those civilians who died." The colonel said this and went out of the tent.
Then he looked at that gate. Why the hell this thing appeared here, why all of these even happened in the first place…perhaps after a few weeks and months
When we send our army there and we will find out.
1 week earlier.
Maria and her daughter had a very long journey towards Volgograd, she came here to see her family and spend a little time with them since the time he was married. Her husband told them that in a week he will be there to spend time with her wife and sweet daughter.
They were going to the square of fallen fighters because her family's house was near that square,
She gripped the hand of her daughter when she crossed a street. Then suddenly a gate appeared out of nowhere right in front of them. Maria and her daughter stared at that gate with shock. "mama, I am scared" her daughter said with
Horror, she was about to cry. "don't worry it's nothing, as long as you are with me, you are safe." Then a series of sounds came across the Gate, sounds of dragons, countless sounds of footsteps, sounds of a man shouting in a language that they didn't understand. The sounds came closer until a man in a roman outfit on his white horse along with his army arrived. As the crowd looked at him in shock and horror he shouted at them with unknown language that they didn't hear before. Then his army marched towards the innocent Soviet citizen.
Maria gripped her child's hands ran away as fast as she could, but Romans were faster, when she distanced herself a little she saw a recycle been and put her child into that. "mom why are you putting me in a bin, you don't love me." Girl cried.
Maria smiled and replied "No dear, I love you from the deepest part of my heart, I am going to put you here because I don't want those bad guys to get you. When you heard the gunshots scream for help, your father and uncle Vladimir will arrive and help you, I will go but I will return to pick you up after this is over, right?"
"yes mama, please come soon mama, I miss you," the girl cried "calm down honey you are a strong girl... now I have to go," mother said this and left the crying child while she was at the edge of crying "no mama, no mama" girl cried until she heard the sound of a wyvern, she stared at the sky, panicked, she heard sounds of other civilians and those roman soldiers pursuing the people, sounds of ogres, orcs and other creatures that passed.
Meanwhile at end of Mira street, near the square of fallen fighters.
Lieutenant Romanov along with sergeant first class Oleg Rurikovich Chernov are Evacuating fleeing civilians, and holding off dozens of legionnaires with their weapons, they were running out of ammo. "Comrade Lieutenant, I didn't expect to see you here," Oleg said then thrown a grenade. "I didn't expect to see you too" Romanov responded firing his AK.
"enemy at 1 O'CLOCK!" a soviet soldier shouted then dozens of Roman soldiers approached them from 1 O'clock, then they got mowed down by AK and PKM fire, Romanov and his platoon were on the way to the city's garrison but they are now currently busy with this roman army out of nowhere. "Lieutenant, I am running out of ammo and where are the reinforcements?!" Oleg shouted as he went to cover because of incoming arrows.
"I don't know *shooting a roman soldier with AK* they should be arriving soon"
suddenly enemy cavalry emerged from the gate and tried to break through the overstretched soviet defensive line, Upon having eye contact, Romanov called grenadiers of each squad to fire their rifle grenades at the cavalry, the first wave of grenades was sent to the incoming cavalry, totally killing anyone in the front while hurting anyone back, dead horses were scattered, some who survived decided to crawl towards them in a sneaky manner.
"Comrade Lieutenant! I have one mag left, where are the reinforcements?" Oleg asked Romanov, the radio was in his hands, he looked back at Oleg and replied
"Reinforcements are coming, they told us to hold this place, ETA is about five minutes."
"I don't think my mag would last five minutes."
"then fight with your bayonet."
"ok, I kinda wish our Bmps were here."
Romanov took a look at the street, the enemy was coming through with a shield formation, the bodies on the ground reduced their speed, but they continued towards the position Romanov and his platoon were. he took an F-1 hand grenade and he started waiting until he saw someone running at the building while arrows were shot at her. he was shocked to see a child running at their location, she was running at full speed, Romanov Immediately took the radio to contact the squads.
"First squad, do you copy?"
"yes sir."
"do you see a girl running at your location?"
"yes, we see him."
"try to protect him at all costs don't let those bastards hurt her."
"Roger that, Comrade Lieutenant."
The girl ran towards the platoon, pushing her body to its limits when she was close suddenly an arrow struck her foot, she fell down crying about ten meters near the platoon's fortifications, soon platoon's medic with a rifleman came and took the girl.
"Comrade Lieutenant, we have the girl, but she got hit by an arrow." Romanov cursed the enemy when he heard this.
"these shitbags fired an arrow to a KID? tell your medics to tend her wounds, three minutes till the reinforcements come, comrades don't let these animals come forward, let's make this place hell just like what our grandfathers did in the great patriotic war."
Oleg shot a soldier with his AK while another soviet soldier fired his PKM, the battle was intense but it did not last long, the soviets had firepower but outnumbered, Romans had numbers but with less to no firepower. They held armies of Roman soldiers near a square of fallen fighters with only one platoon of infantry with no Bmps, they almost ran out of ammo.
After another two minutes of intense fighting, reinforcements finally arrived.
PT 76 light tanks, BMPs, T 80s, and other vehicles appeared and crushed the hell out of the roman army while Mi-24s began to swipe the wyverns, and other Mi-24s with Mi-8s began to deploy troops and ammo. The battle was far from over, but It was only the start of the war.
Before the invasion, Alnus hill, Saderan Empire.
Legionnaires, auxiliary troops, siege equipment, and wyverns were ready, ready to conquer the land beyond the gate and making the emperor and empire greater than it was.
Suddenly a figure appeared and began to speak.
"Today, we will attack the barbarians and savages of the otherworld and we will plant our flags on their bodies, and conquer those lands for the Sadera."
Soldiers cheered as they waved their weapons in the air. Then their commander continued "MARCH!"
And thus the empire attacked.
1 day later
Colonel finished reading the report, he sighed, when he got the missing and casualty list, he saw Maria and her daughter are M.I.A, he was worried about Nikolai and his family, what happens when he finds out what happened to his wife and his daughter. Then suddenly somebody knocked on the door, Colonel responded "come in." that guy behind the door came in. "Hi comrade Colonel, it's nice to see you again."
"oh Comrade Romanov, I heard about you and a platoon assigned under your command managed to hold armies at Mira St, good job, now seat…* Romanov seats on a chair* oh, and congratulations on your promotion Captain Romanov."
"oh thank you comrade colonel, they were a bunch of ancient Romans with their swords and beasts that people see in fairy tales, our guns were superior and our enemies were retarded."
"remember Romanov no matter which kind of enemy you are fighting, always respect your enemy."
"yes comrade colonel, I will note this in my memory but I have something to tell you."
"what Romanov?"
"Please follow me to the infirmary, I will show you."
Colonel went with Romanov to the infirmary, when they reached there, they went in and to one of the rooms that contained injured people of that incident.
"here it is *Romanov points his finger to a room* she is Cpt. Malashenko's daughter."
The colonel was surprised, happy to see his nephew's daughter is alive at least this will solve some of the things he is worried about. Then he along with Romanov entered the room.
There was a bed, a table, a hanger for serum, and a bunch of other things, but there was something important, a girl was lying on the bed, she was awake when they both made eye contact with each other they cheered.
"Hi uncle Vladimir * went to huge the colonel* I really missed you uncle"
"Oh dear I miss you too you know how much your father will be happy when he sees you."
Kid frowned, she asked nurses how much passed since that incident and they said it was one week, and her father promised them to be there in one week, but she waited and saw no one.
" Uncle tell my dad that 1 week passed and he didn't show up for me and my mom to protect us, meanwhile my mom put me in a bin and left me for my good and I got shot in the foot by the enemy!"
Then she cried, she still felt pain in her foot. then he looked down in regret and shame, he was sorry for those who missed or killed because of those barbarians, but what's done is done.
"My dear your mother wasn't along with the casualties." The kid stopped crying as she heard that then the colonel continued "he was missing, perhaps she is alive…" then the kid interrupted "you are saying my mom is alive." The colonel said in confusion "I don't really know, but I hope so, * then he squats to reach the kid's height* remember my dear
You are a strong girl, you can wait until we find your mom and return her to you."
Kid nodded and cleared the drops out of her face. Then the colonel stood up, said goodbye to his precious granddaughter, and went out.
"Comrade Colonel, did you heard what the general secretary said about the gate?"
"Da, the deployment in Afghanistan has been delayed and we are now mobilizing our troops to send them inside the gate."
"I hope we could avenge our fallen and bring justice to our invaders."
"I hope so" then the colonel thought: the only reason I am going there is to bring our citizens back to our country especially Maria.
Soon a big journey awaits them.
