'Oh shit, this can't be happening. I'm on the pill.' Lara Knight thought as she leaned against the counter in her bathroom pushing her blonde hair out of her face as she stared at the positive pregnancy test, 'I don't want kids, not yet and not with Hamish.'

Lara went about her usual morning routine suffering bouts of morning sickness. She was soon picking up her car keys and pocketing the test before leaving work.

Rescue HQ 0630"Morning Lara," Vince called, as she was the first one in today. "You're in early, you okay?"

"Morning Vince, thought I would get a head start on my paperwork. I'm fine, just a little tired," Lara said, smiling to ease his concerns before settling in and getting lost in the paperwork that's he had acquired the day before because it was such a busy day with rescues.

0730"Morning," everyone called, as they piled in together that morning.

"Morning Lara, how long you been here for?" Dean Gallagher, Lara's best friend asked sitting at his desk which was situated in front of Lara's.

"Morning, oh little over an hour now," she said, looking around and spotting Heidi. "Can you give me a second? I'll be tight back."

Dean nodded and turned back to his computer to sign in and start on his pile of paperwork which seemed to be a little bigger than Lara's.

She quickly stood up and walked over to Heidi. "Heids, do you have a minute?" Lara asked urgently as she caught up with the redhead.

"Sorry Lara, Vince has Jordan and I running errands. Can we chat later?" Heidi said as they walked down the stairs.

"Yeah all good," Lara replied before pivoting and stalking off to the kitchen to make a cup of tea.

"What's going on Lar?" Dean questioned, as he followed her into the kitchen.

"Nothing, it's okay." Lara replied, giving Dean a smile as she sipped her tea. Dean went to say something but Vince quickly interrupted.

"Can you two take a rescue? Two hikers stuck on a ledge at Victoria Falls Lookout." Vince said, joining them in that tiny kitchen. Soon enough Dean and Lara sprang into action and made their way downstairs to the patrol. They made sure they had the equipment needed and were quickly on their way.

1 hour later

After navigating the busy roads of Sydney, they soon pulled up in the carpark. They noted one other car was parked but empty.

"Rescue Portable 1 to Rescue Base. Vince do we have an exact location for our hikers? Over." Dean called over the radio as they took a quick inventory of the gear that they require and made it more accessible.

"Rescue Portable 1, if you drive up Victoria Falls Road, they are located at the lookout. Chase, Jordan and Heidi should be with you any moment. Out." Vince called back as the comms line cut out and the other patrol pulled up next to them.

"Okay so we continue up this road here and they should be located at the end of the lookout. Sounds like they've climbed the safety fence to get a better picture." Dean said, gathering the team together and showing them the map that highlighted where their rescue was. "Let's go."

They climbed back into their vehicles and drove a further 15 minutes down the road to Victoria Falls Lookout.

They soon found the two hikers, they began to set up their lines to abseil down.

"You okay to go down there with Heidi?" Dean asked as they finished rigging up their lines.

"Yeah, I'm all good. You ready?" She asked both Dean and Heidi as they walked backwards towards the edge. She felt a twinge in her abdomen but ignored it thinking it was a muscle cramp.

2 hours later and they had rescued both hikers and had brought them to the top and were driving them out to the awaiting ambulance. They were soon off to hospital with cuts, bruises and a broken collarbone.

In the car

"You sure you're okay?" Dean asked, looking at the pained look on her face. "Did you hurt yourself?"

"If I tell you, you can't say anything unless you think you should." Lara said, looking him directly in the eyes.

"Yeah okay," he agreed, looking back at her as they continued down the highway.

"Rescue 2 to Rescue 1, we're going to get lunch while we are here, over." Chase called through the radio.

"Reacue 2 no worries. See you back at base. Out." Dean said distractedly as Lara doubled over in pain.

"Dean, I'm pregnant," she blurted out as tears rolled down her cheeks as the pain got worse.
