Princess Twilight Sparkle paced back and forth as she pondered what to do. It was nightmare night in two days, she had everything prepared, and yet something was missing. "Relax, twilight. Everything's ok." Spike, her dragon friend said. "I know everything is ready." Twilight said. Spike smirked. "Does it pertain to sunset's boyfriend." Twilight blushed. "No, but you gave me an idea." She immediately began to write in the journal used to talk with sunset.

Meanwhile in Equestria city.

The rainbooms were at sweet apple acres helping Applejack's family set up the annual nightmare night party. Currently, sunset was trying to set up a decoration that was higher than her. "Sugar cube, you sure ya don't need help." Applejack asked Sunset as she tried to set up the decoration. She sighed. "Yeah. I can't reach." Suddenly sunset felt herself rise up off the ground. "This good enough?" a voice asked from under her. Sunset saw that she was sitting on her boyfriend's shoulders. "You are such a sneak clay." Sunset chuckled playfully swatting him on the head before placing the decoration into place. "I make it look easy firecracker." Clay retorted ruffling sunset's hair after setting her on the ground. "I'm actually surprised as to how nightmare night is so similar to Halloween back home." He continued. "Hallo- what." Rainbow asked looking at the couple. "Halloween rainbow dash. It's a holiday in clay's home dimension." Fluttershy said. "For a time, it was actually called All Hollow's Eve. Don't know when they changed it though." Pinkie was setting up the refreshments when she noticed sunset's bag was glowing. Opening it, she saw sunset's journal glowing which meant only one thing. Grabbing the book pinkie rushed over to sunset.

"message for you sunset." Pinkie said giving sunset the book. "Really?" she asked. Opening her journal, sunset read what twilight wrote. Her eyes widened. "Hey Clay, princess twilight invited us to go to Equestria for this year's nightmare night." Sunset looked at pinkie, who looked like she was going to ask something. "Unfortunately, the invitation is only for clay and I, pinkie. Sorry." Sunset said with a sad smile on her face. She noticed clay furrow his eyebrows. "Something wrong?" clay looked at her. "I'm glad we're able to visit Equestria, but I got a bad feeling that we'll be in over our heads there sunset." He said in a tone sunset wasn't familiar with She was about to speak when Kyra spoke up. "when clay speaks in that tone sunset, he's serious." Sunset gained a worried expression.

Later at Canterlot High

"Ready?" Sunset asked holding Clay's hand. He nodded before gesturing for sunset to go first. She giggled before walking into the portal. "Always the gentleman aren't you?" Kyra teased. "Shut up." Clay said scoffing before jumping into the portal.

Castle of friendship

Twilight was waiting at the mirror when it glowed. Sunset came through standing on her rear hooves. "Twilight!" she said before nearly losing her balance. After placing her forehooves on the ground, sunset sheepishly rubbed the back of her head while talking. "I tried to hug you." Twilight noticed someone was missing. "Wait, where's clay?" she said. Suddenly a tall figure came through the mirror and skidded into a bookshelf. "Ow, by the kings. That freakin' hurt." The figure said whilst untangling itself. Twilight and sunset's jaws opened. "Clay, you're still human." sunset said trotting up to her colt friend. "Well, I've been traveling through dimensions longer than you have sunset, technically my body has become immune to transforming." Clay said referring to the transformation sunset went through traveling between realities.

While the two were conversing, twilight noticed that another person was in the room. "Um, sunset. I told you only to bring clay with you to visit right?" clay and sunset looked at her. "Yeah…. Why?" sunset replied. "Then who's that?" Twilight said point at the figure with a hoof. Clay's eyes narrowed, but immediately widened in horror. "It's her." He muttered loud enough for both sunset and twilight to hear. "Her, who?" Twilight asked. Sunset swallowed a lump in her throat. "Clay's deceased partner when he was still an active dimension agent. Kyra is it really you?" she said in a shaky voice. The figure turned around to reveal a dull colored anthro lioness. "Course it's me." the lioness said grinning "Clay talk to us. What's going on?" Twilight asked backing up as "Kyra" walked to her. "something I hoped I'd never see." The lioness' ears perked up before glancing towards the mirror and immediately her cheerful mood turned to horror. Gone were the bright ruby red eyes, replaced with a dull burgundy. The whites of her eyes were now a charcoal grey and her muzzle had several cracks in it. (think of the Naruto Shippuden version of the reanimation jutsu) Kyra's eyes started to tear up. "No…" Kyra said falling to her knees.

Clay took a few cautious steps towards her and placed a hand on Kyra's shoulder. The reanimated lioness stiffened before looking at him. "Chin up cub. It's not the end of the world." He said. "Easy for you to say." She scoffed before sitting down and hugging her knees. Confident, that it really was Kyra Clay continued. "You may look different now, but you'll always be Kyra to me." Sunset smiled as clay held out his hand. The lioness smiled and took it.

Later

"So, let me get this straight. You are Clay's deceased ex-girlfriend?" Twilight said confused. "I was still both his partner and girlfriend when I died." Kyra said. "Hmm. Anyways I hope you three enjoy Ponyville. I have a few things to do here before heading into town." The trio nodded as Twilight left them at the door. "Lead the way Firecracker." Clay said to sunset before they heard snickering. "Firecracker?" Kyra said humorously with a raised eyebrow. "Oi! I called you cub remember?" clay said "I nicknamed sunset that due to her short temper. "it's true I do have anger issues." Sunset said making all three of them laugh.
