Hello Everyone, the name's Aaron and welcome to my story 'The legend of the Pirate and Monkey Kings'. I am a huge fan of both Dragon Ball and One Piece and have been catching up to One Piece thanks to quarantine. I have been thinking about doing something like this for a little bit of time now and I thought why not now. Or at least attempt it. I wanted to do a crossover of some Dragon ball Characters and import them into the One Piece universe and see events play out how I envision it.
What I want to do is add Goku of his teenage years onto the straw hat pirates and tell the story of how his presence impacted everything. I got a basic idea on how to write it out so I guess I'll say them now!
Goku will be a saiyan and have his tail be prominent.
The blank century will be discussed and it will relate to Goku… ok about his Lineage.
some of the antagonists will be swapped out for dragon ball characters or be added along.
and some events may play out differently such as happening early or even not at all as compared to the original storyline.
I got inspired because of how similar Goku and Luffy are as protagonists and from reading other stories of One Piece on this site so I thought 'hey I should do one as well.' If you're not onboard with it then fair enough, there are plenty other stories that you can read but just leave some good, honest, and constructive criticism in the reviews as to what to fix. I want to do right with this story just like my other.
Speaking of which, If you're already a follower and is wondering about my other story 'The Fused Guardian of Fairy Tail' I'm still doing it and will continue to work on it and this one at the same time. Time slots maybe all over the place right now but hopefully I can manage that to the best of my abilities.
Alright kiddos let's start with the pilot chapter.
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Down on the planet's surface of Earth lies thousands of islands, and with each island having varying different biomes, ecosystems, and ways of life of the humans that traverse and live within them. One island can be a desert island, being filled with great mounds of sand that can stretch hundreds of miles, intense heat from the blazing rays of the sun, and creatures of the desert if without proper equipment can kill any human within seconds. Then there's an island that can be a snow island, the antithesis of a desert island. Having extremely low temperatures, harsh blizzards that last for days, and even more harsher tarren with just one misstep can lead to an early grave.
And this is just a couple on this vas planet.
All around the world there are even more bizarre and fantastical islands that seem to bend human comprehension itself.
All of this is capable because these islands exist surrounding the Red Line, the main and only continent of this world which stretches down the center vertically, or longitude 0, and encircles the globe to one circular land mass. Next we have the Calm Belt which is 2 parallel strips of water and is perpendicular to the red line in which the water is forever still. No waves, no wind, and no currents. If you were to sail and get ensnared within the Calm Belt, you've just signed your own death warrant. If you didn't die of starvation yet, then enormous water beasts, the size of skyscrapers, known as sea kings would surely finish you off. The only way to traverse these waters is through a paddle or engine system.
Within the Calm Belt however, lies a very unique ocean current called The Grand Line, it cuts horizontally across the planet, or latitude 0. Due to the encircling land mass of the Red Line, the Grand Line is separated by two halves known as Paradise and NewWorld, with Paradise being the calmer of the two lines. Without the use of a paddle or engine system, there is a way to getting in this ocean current. The entrance is at a mountain called ReverseMountain which intersects the Red Line and the Grand Line, and connects all four different seas or oceans of the world's ocean current and scales up the mountain with a fifth ocean current that goes down to the grand line or Paradise, the first half of the Grand Line.
Within one of these seas we have the East Blue where our story starts.
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
It was 20 years before the story began for our protagonists to meet. Within the East Blue lies a town with a heavy burden on its name called Loguetown. It was a quaint and pleasant day with the bright sun sharing its warmth freely and generously with the land, unimpeded by the clouds. Cobblestone Roads filled with colorful stands of fresh and appetizing foods ranging from fruits and vegetables to large pounds of meat and fish. It would be like any other day for this peaceful town if it weren't for the date of today.
The date of the King of the Pirates execution.
A shackled man who was being surrounded by guards on all sides was being led to follow like a dog on his leash. The said man however was a tall and fairly muscular man, at least compared to his guards. His most prominent physical features were his curved black mustache, a fierce grin he almost always wore, and his intense eyes. He also had thick black hair and a short, thick neck.
Like many other high ranking pirates, he wore a long red captain's coat. Beneath his coat, he wore a blue shirt and had a yellow sash around his waist. He wore a white cravat around his neck, dark blue pants, and what appeared to be black sea boots. He also wore a pirate hat with his Jolly Roger on it over a yellow-spotted bandana. This man was Gol D. Roger the King of the Pirates.
Roger was being towed through Loguetown, otherwise known as his birth home, as the citizens watched in pure disgust, disdain and unworthiness for the man, all the while plastering his signature fierce grin. He then reaches a scaffold in the middle of the town square where he will be put on display to face his atrocities. A large number of the populace in town is in attendance for the execution for the Pirate King. The King begins to make his ascent up the wooden structure, one step at a time.
Everything was still at the moment, as if time was frozen. It was very much happening though as the sound of steel spears began to be unsheathed from its holders. Then Roger decided to speak "Destiny. Fate. Dreams. As long as there are people who seek freedom in this life, these things shall not vanish the earth." Roger reaches the top and is forced on his knees by the soldiers to commence the execution. One of the soldiers asks "do you have any final words to say?"
Roger looks at the man with his shackles up front "would you mind taking these off, they are being to irritate me quite a bit. Please?"
"I can't do that."
"Where am I going to run?" Said Roger "That's alright, I guess i'm on my own for this one." With the little joke out of the way, he brings down his shackles and lowers his head "alright let's get this over with."
The audience down below look on with murmurs and subtle whispers being heard in the square. With a boisterous yell, one man from the audience screams "Hey, Pirate King!" to which all eyes are locked on to the man in question, including Roger "Tell us where the hell you hid all your treasure! Is it in the Grand Line or someplace else!"
Everyone begins to be more talkative and louder within the plaza at the prospect of treasure. The soldiers didn't take kindly to the man's question though and addressed him to shut up, but kept on asking "You found it, didn't you? The legendary treasure!" And with another take in of air, he blurts out.
"THE ONE PIECE!"
Everyone went silent, no words were said. Tensions were high, as if you could cut it with a knife. The tension was broken by an audible chuckle soon turning into a hardy laugh belonging to the man at the scaffold as he answers "You want my treasure? You can have it, I left everything I gathered in one place! You just have to find it!"
Before anything else was said, the King of the Pirates was stabbed.
His last moments of life now vanished.
Never to say another word again.
The Crowd within the square erupted to that of screams of joy and bliss, not only for the death of Roger but also in him giving permission to have unimaginable wealth, fame and power. The screams leaning to the latter more than the former. With that, a new Era has just begun in Gol D. Rogers Legacy to forever change the world.
The Great Pirate Era has just begun.

3 years later
Within the East Blue was an island called Dawn Island, it was inhabited by heavily-dense forest filled with dangerous gigantic animals such as tigers, alligators, bears, snakes, and vultures. Except for the wildlife, the foliage and fauna was something to behold. Garnishing many beautiful flowers and a wide array of plant life, and with its signature giant tree. At the outskirts of the forest was a village called Foosha village. A sleepy rural village with windmills on the outskirts of the main Goa Kingdom.
A Man could be seen walking out of Foosha Village and onto a dry dirt path up one of two mountains, those being Mount Paozu and Mount Corvo and he was taking the path to mount Paozu. The man is a tall, tanned, broad-chested, muscular old man. He has a beard and a scar over his left eye and his hair and goatee were still black, with sideburns beginning to whiten.
He donned a dark double breasted suit with a white shirt and a red tie. On the back he wears his oversized Marine coat which he wears like a cape. His coat has the kanji for justice, in blue, emblazoned on the back, and has unique colored cuffs, with his being white. This man is Monkey D. Garp, an extremely famous and powerful Marine vice admiral.
Garp was paying a visit to another Admiral that resides in the mountains of mount Paozu since he had some time off and what better way than to spend time with friends and family. Garp reaches a flattened area where a hut with blue roofing and on the sides read the kanji for 'martial artist.' A sizable barrel was stationed outside a couple meters along with clothes hangers, most presumably to wash any dirty clothing and sanitation. He knocked on the door several times only to be greeted with "oh i'm coming, i'm coming. Give me a second."
An elderly, short, stubby old man with small dark eyes and a bushy white mustache and beard and eyebrows and is also bald. He wears a Chinese martial arts uniform, which consists of a sleeveless orange jacket over a long sleeved black shirt, and wears a green hat. The old man opens the door to what looks like giant white stilts, he turns his head upward to see the face of Garp and instantly the old man's face is etched with glee "ah Garp, welcome my boy! How have you been! Oh is Sengoku with you by chance?"
"Hello Gohan, and no Sengoku is not here. He is at Marine Headquarters, ever since his promotion to fleet admiral he's on the clock day and night working."
The aforementioned elderly man known as Gohan is saddened by the news but quickly forgets about it "oh alright, it only makes sense that my son would. You would think your only son would at least write to you or pay a visit once in a while. Well come on in Garp, I can't just leave you out like an improper host."
"Thanks ya old geezer, nice as always admiral." Garp ducks due to his massive size compared to the hut and walks in, closing the door behind. In a nearby bush, someone with a cloak was watching the interaction the entire time and seems to be carrying a basket. It was still midday so the individual will have to wait until sundown to enact on whatever plan they concocted.
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Hours later
Both Garp and Gohan were boisterously laughing about, in recent memories they shared together such as Gohan remembering the old days of mentoring both Sengoku and Garp on what it means to be good marines. Or when the ever proud and loud Garp would always lead a timid and quiet Sengoku as kids on mini adventures and Gohan would usually punish the both of them for their stupid antics that follows.
"Hahahaha boy you two were always a handful, you two were inseparable. But look at you two now! You're the infamous Marine Hero and my son is the Fleet Admiral. I'm proud of your accomplishments."
"Thank you Gohan, without your teachings we couldn't have gone as far as we did." Then Garp sets down his beer and sits up and straightens his back, his demeanor changing the mood in the room. Gohan sees this and also places a pensive face and Garp begins by saying "Although I think you should reconsider your retirement from the navy as Admiral. I know you and Kong didn't see eye to eye, but our morral will be severely crippled. Along with Whitebeard, new faces like Kaido and Big Mom are making names for themselves and are quite powerful thanks to Roger. If anything he's made the situation worse."
"I see, well i'm sorry Garp but i've grown too old now for this generation now. I know my son will continue what I've laid out. He may be new but is an exceedingly proud, enlightened, and intelligent man who is loyal to the World Government. Just have Faith."
The vice admiral looks with a questioning and stern look at the old man's judgement but is soon swept away by a small and honest smile. How could he doubt the word of his surrogate father growing up along his 'brother' as kids. "alright I trust you on this one, it still wouldn't hurt to get some advice to do well for such a responsibility."
"Mmmm, the best advice I could give is to produce the best results. By not producing the best results could get the people you lead killed a meaningless death."
"I see, I'll make sure to tell Sengoku." As Garp takes another swig of his beer. Gohan lightens the mood a little by mentioning a rumor to garp he heard a while back, it'll sure be funny as hell to see what face he'll make .
"So I've heard that you're gonna be a grandpa soon my boy, aren't you just old."
Garp in comedic anime fashion bulges out his eyes and spits out his alcohol "Hey shut up! At least I'm not a relic from three-hundred years ago!"
The Martial Artist chuckles at the response "what will Dragon do with the lad once they're born."
"He's not doing anything with them, I plan on taking them here at Foosha Village, the East Blue has the least pirate sightings. I will not let Dragon manipulate my grandchild for his own ambitions." Said the vice admiral as he takes another shot of his booze. He looks out the huts window to see the sun slowly fading out of existence and the moon taking over in the sky "it's getting late, I should be going or else the new 'Fleet Admiral' is going to get suspicious." Garp props himself back up and heads to the huts door.
Before Garp leaves, he looks to his 2nd father "Thanks again Gohan, I'll be sure to tell Sengoku to visit you."
Gohan looked with endearment and a radiant smile. His life was full of good and bad but his most cherished accomplishment has to be his son's rise to power through good nature. He quickly turns around so as to not show Garp his tears welling up in his eyes "N-Not a p-problem. Now get going Vice Admiral, I'm sure the navy will be looking soon."
And with that the door closes behind Gohan. He begins to cleans the surprisingly spacious living room. Picking up the dishes and setting them on a plastic bucket to wash, gathering some cleaning solutions for some of Garp's booze he dropped, and renewing the trash.
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Nightfall
Gohan finished up on his job well done by swatting away any sweat off his forehead, for an old man of 91 years old he can still move quite nimbly for his stature and age. He props up the broom in his right hand as a walking stick to lean on to get a quick breather.
Outside the martial artists hut was the cloaked person from before behind the trees was holding a large woven basket. The person's figure is well built and somewhat broadened shoulders and seems to have a couple of spiky bangs of coal, black hair coming from his cloak hoodie. The hooded stranger rapidly skulks to the huts door as to not be seen. The man gave a heaving sigh and gently placed the woven basket just in front of the door where they wouldn't mistakenly disturb it.
Before this mysterious man leaves and abandons all contact with said basket, he bends down and opens one of the folds to see an infant child with the same mesh of hair just like him. The being was lighter-pale skinned compared to him and appeared to be sleeping soundly as It was wrapped in a bundle of blankets. The cloaked man looked with contemplation and longing for the newborn but he knew it was for the best with his decision.
"I'm sorry... Kakarot. Truly, I am. But this is all I can do for you now. Stay strong and live on not as the son of Bardock… but as the son of Gohan. Just remember you'll always be in my heart. May our lineage live in you." The man now known as Bardock straightens up and knocks on the huts door several times before escaping the scene entirely.
'You better take care of him old man. I know what garp did and I gotta say, I'm jealous that the captain thought of that first. Well, he is the king of the pirates for a reason. Live Kakarot, for the saiyan race and rebirth our race again.' As bardock sprints through the undergrowth and foliage, away from the hut...
...and his newborn son.
The door creaks open slowly as the old man peeks his head out around his quaint pot of land but sees nothing. "Hello out there… is someone here.."Gohan hears silence throughout the forest except for the occasional sacada or squawking bird. The retired Navy Admiral was about to head back inside while spouting verbal attacks on the village kids just down the base or even those in the kingdom. That is, until he hears a small cry just below his feet. How could Gohan miss the basket, he couldn't say but now he has a problem that needs his immediate attention.
The picnic brown basket was still while the child silently whimpered as it meant his sleep was done. "A baby!? Well what are you doing here?" Gohan picks the blanket wrapped infant up and soothes and pats him the best he can, remembering how he used to take care of Sengoku. The newborn burps from the patting and is settled down and much more calmer as compared to before.
"Alright, time to get you inside, young one." He takes in the babe inside his home along with his basket in hopes of finding a note, message, or any semblance of where he came from. He sets the little baby on his futon and unwraps his blanket binding the baby that was keeping him warm.
What he didn't expect was to see a chocolate brown monkey's tail attached to the boy's rear. Now an anxious expression was soon etched onto the old man's head as he soon realized where the boy came from.
'That hair and the tail. Ba-Bardock had a son! How! How is this possible!'
Gohan expeditiously searchers within the basket he was held in to search for any answers for his dilemma. Finding nothing, he turns back to the baby with a quizzical countenance, while the baby was cheerfully giggling at the martial artist. He knew what he had to do. His time with the world government made it very clear what needs to be done. Turn in the babe to the authorities for his accusations his father and especially his race had done.
But he no longer is part of the government.
Gohan is a believer that anyone can repent and be given a second chance, and this is no different. In fact, why should he bear the sins of father and the Roger crew, let alone his race, for something he didn't commit. Children are born sinless, free of corruption. He'll be damned if they execute this newborn simply for the blood he carries in him.
So it was decided that Gohan will conceal him here, and live with him. He can make this child different from the others.
Now thinking about it, he needs a name. Gohan grasps the child and looks with optimism, how hard can raising a saiyan child be?
After some contemplation, Gohan decides a name for the child. Although not an original name, it wasn't a bad name either. "I've got a name for you little one. How about Goku. Son D. Goku." The child once named Kakarot is now and forever will be called by Son D. Goku by his new adoptive grandfather. Goku ecstatically wiggles his monkey tail while laughing at the funny word he heard, bringing up Gohan's faith that Goku will be different from the others.
"I know you'll grow up to be a fine man Goku. You'll meet lots of people, have lots of friends, and explore the world with them. Your story begins now, my son."
Both their lives were going to change forever.

Couple weeks later
Weeks have gone by for the Son family in mount Pazoo. Gohan was slowly but assuredly gaining his maternal instincts again in raising Goku. Going down to foosha village a couple of times to gather any baby supplies. This just so happens to be one of those times. The elderly man trudges through the village with a baby Goku secured on his woven basket, Gohan clutching an umbrella for his grandson's sake as he doesn't get too hot from the sun's blistering heat.
After his first experience within the capital, he vows to never set foot in again. Gohan opinions on its citizens, and especially it's nobles, are often resentful towards them due to their animosity towards those beneath them, or more specifically those in Gray Terminal.
It's a camping ground of savagery and murder in that district of lawlessness. 'Every man for themselves' is the law, with everyone killing each other just to get scraps of food or any ornaments, furniture, or decorations of sorts to be sold off for any kind of value.
Whenever someone wants to set foot in the capital, guards are in place of denying anyone of that district from entering within its wall. Usually involving beating the 'intruders' to a bloody mess, then hurling them with whatever valuables they desired to be bartered. Those who are resigned to live there are always met with a gruesome death, and all because they are the poor and the uneducated.
With how they treat their own, it's no wonder why Gohan conditions himself to live in the forest on mount Pazoo.
While in the village, Gohan stumbles on his favorite bar in Foosha village. The bar was a two story building with the first level to be made out of wooden boards of varying types containing oak, mahogany and other pieces in places such as windows to give more familiarity. It's also supported by its two steel pillars for its balcony. The second level is created with a reddish-brown cemented clay to keep from the building getting too hot in summer. On the front it's labeled with bright green and bolded letters named 'Party's Bar.'
Gohan enters the bar with his grandson, Goku, tagging along on his back with a pacifier. At the bar counter, He sees one of the reasons why this is his favorite bar in the village. A young woman with brown eyes and dark green hair that goes up to just above her shoulders. She is outfitted with a yellow kerchief, an orange blouse with black sleeves and a long light blue skirt and orange sneakers with white soles. This gal is named Makino, the owner of Party's Bar.
"Welcome to the Party's Bar, how may I- oh. Hello there Son Gohan. It's great to see you again!" Sweetly smiled Makino, just finishing up on some glass mugs and placing in their venues.
"Yes. Hello there Makino. It's been far too long to not see my favorite outing. How has business been lately? I heard that some mountain bandits been coming from time to time."
"Oh yes, Dadan and her little gang have been coming but they have been behaving quite well. Apparently Garp had to do something with that so I'm not concerned in the slightest." Profused the Bartender with the utmost confidence. She has known of Garp and Sengoku and their accomplishments throughout their career so it would be considered treason to think Garp can't handle it.
'Garp is dealing with it huh, I wonder why he just didn't take them out already?' Before he can ponder on anymore of it, he is brought out of his stupor by a waning cry of his grandson strapped behind the martial artist. Gohan gently puts the basket carrying Goku down and picks up the baby to soothe him down, exposing his diaper and monkey's tail. All the while Makino fangirls about the new company and rushes over to their side, to be honest the tail didn't really bother her at all.
"Oh my goodness Gohan, since when did you have another child of your own?" as she bends down to get a more preferable sight of the infant child. Baby Goku takes a quick glance at Makino and instantly, his disconsolate state was now etched with a more jovial expression. Goku in the rush of the moment pulls on Makino's green hair, to which she didn't mind at all.
"It seems little Goku has taken a liking to you Makino."
"Goku huh, that certainly a nice name for him." To which Goku tugs a bit harder and his tail flailing around from hearing her soft voice.
"Oh my goodness, he's a lively one. Completely different from what you told me of Sengoku." Makino takes a hold of the baby from Gohan's arms. She cradles Goku so loving as if it was instinctual and with great care. "So Gohan… did you ahh…" her cheeks begin to redden and turns her head as to not make eye contact for the she's about to ask "d-did you uhh… you know… t-to get little Goku here…"
"Oh heavens no, the boy is adopted. But even if we're not related by blood, I will still love him the same way as I did with Garp and Sengoku." Too which Gohan has a sinister look with a Chelsea smile for maximum effectiveness. He also brings up his hands in a grabbing motion and says "but if you would like to Makino, I'd be more than happy to oblige to your request!" The result was Gohan being slapped across the bar room and landing face first into one of the many wooden tables laid out.
"...pervert…"
The young bartender glances back at the little infant still in her arms "don't grow up to be a depraved pervert like your grandpa here."
Gohan casually lifts himself back up and dusts off any unwanted debris and grime of his antique uniform. "I see you still as hard as ever, good to know you're in shape" stated the martial artist as he pulls up and perches on a chair that hasn't been wrecked "so you said Garp was taking care of it, yet he just doesn't take them in? Do you know why and if so, can you tell me?"
Makino takes her eyes off of little Goku and explains what she knows to Gohan "sure! Apparently Garp and those band of Mountain bandits in mount Corvo had an agreement of sorts, but he didn't say what it was."
"I see." To which Gohan starts to ponder on why Garp would act so out of character to those bandits 'Garp isn't the type to let off some criminals because their crimes aren't too severe. He's all or nothing when it comes to poaching the condemned so why start now? I need to ask him whenever he decides to show up again.'
"If you wanna find out, I hear Garp is coming by again later today. You can ask then!"
"O-oh really? Well thank you for notifying me Mak-" speak of the devil. before he could finish his sentence, Garp came in through the wooden paneled doors of the bar with a dramatic flare, shouting out "Hey there Makino and hello to you too Gohan. Say I was ju- wait MAKINO? WHAT OR H-HOW DID THIS BRAT GET H-HERE!"
The precipitous entrance of Garp caused the infant Goku to start wailing due to the tumultuous sound that spiked up, having Makino to take priority in soothing the child over anything now. "Shhh, shhh, shhh it's okay little one. You're safe, nothing will get you." Makino glares at Garp's position with such intensity that if looks could kill, she'd be the definition's picture.
"What do you think you're doing screaming like that Garp! Surely with a son of your own you think you would be quite around a baby like him!" As baby Goku begins to settle down to a more tranquil state and stops. Garp looks at the infant in the room himself as he didn't remember Makino being pregnant with a child, surly she would mention that she should be due soon to a baby boy let alone her physical appearance being different to a more sizable change. Maybe she just adopted him in his absence? A very plausible solution for sure… yeah it has to be that!
Garp quickly regains his bearings at the sudden arrival of her child and apologizes "Mmmhmmm. So terribly sorry for my rude distance and waking your child up, please forgive me." As the war hero bows his head a little to much, causing him to almost fall forward head first with a make out session with the wooden floor boards. In grandpa Gohan's eyes, it was comedic to see Garp out of character and silently chuckles the best he could however Garp hears it and growls at him for it.
"You are forgiven Mr. war hero. However the angel in my hands here isn't mine. It's actually Gohan's here." To which Garp bulges out his eyes towards his surrogate father. Since when was he getting action like that? And more importantly, who would accept his advances?
"Alright there Gohan, you've got some explaining to do here. First off, who was the lady to give you another son… or would it be your grandson?" Says the navy marine with his spaced out mindset. "That doesn't matter right now, where did he come from? When I visited you a couple weeks ago you never had him."
"Well just as I said to Makino, little Goku here is adopted. Or more accurately Son D. Goku from my side, Sengoku coming from his mother's side. Actually Garp, he was just laid onto my porch after you left."
"Goku Huh? Isn't that a bit unoriginal since your first son is literally named that without SEN in it. However it has a nice ring to it. Son D. Goku of the Navy." As Garp comes over to where Makino is to investigate the little runt, he immediately see's the palm tree-esc hairstyle that's eerily resembles another hairstyle of an infamous pirate member of a profound crew that shook the world to the core.
Goku's big black coal eyes staring back at Garp with confusion but more importantly curiosity. Although not the same intensity, it did resemble him very much so. All of that could have been coincidence as the world is a really big place, to say matching physical features isn't too far off as Dragon, Garp's son, also had wild black hair and eyes as a baby. But what really sold the icing on the cake was Goku's chocolate brown monkey tail tied around his waste… just like that man.
'N-n-no way? D-did Bardock as well have a s-son? What's next, the Dark King also have a brat of his own as well? Roger is one thing but Bardock! I need to report this!' Garp shuffles his feet back, mouth agape, and silent of just seeing the infant. He slowly faces Gohan with confusion and distraught. If the world powers thought they killed any last remnants of Bardock, then this kid is going to create an uproar and hell all over.
Makino was clueless about the whole situation but Gohan was a different story, he knew what Garp was thinking about him and his newly adopted grandson. So instead of creating a scene he looks over towards the bartender and requests of her "Makino, I actually came here for some baby supplies and I know you have some, would you mind if I have some for little Goku here?"
"Oh of course take as much as you need! It's in the back, let me go and get them for you." As she and the baby in her arms goes to the back of the bar and scour out for said supplies. It gave some alone time for Garp and Gohan to have a little talk about the situation.
"So Garp, judging by your sporadic behavior and judgement of him. I take you don't fond of my decision in keeping him."
"SPORADIC? FONDLY? The whole reason why we were told to report and eliminate anyone affiliated with Bardock is because of his capabilities and destruction that they can cause. If even one of them is to be seen. A BUSTER CALL is to be enacted! He's a menace to everyone Gohan and you know that."
"Well that may be true, what has HE done to show any kind of threat to the world. He's just a baby Garp, look at Dragon. Even though he's the most wanted man alive of the army, he's your son and you were there to set him right but still went to be a revolutionary.
Garp stood silently in his words as they were true, even though he's a Monkey he still went on to become what Garp hadn't envisioned for his son. At the end of the day Dragon made his decision and there was nothing he could do about it.
"Garp please listen to me when I say that Goku has done nothing wrong, it doesn't matter who his father is or his lineage. Why should a baby like him take responsibility for the crimes of his forefathers, he's a baby in a world that hates him for simply existing. How is that fair?"
Just like Roger, Gohan too was able to convince him that just like Ace, Goku is just a baby at the end of the day. 'Geez how the old geezer is starting to sound like Roger right now.'
"Tell me Garp, what kind of crime did he commit to be in trouble? What kind of sin is liable of having? I know he'll be different from Bardock and everyone else. Please just give me this chance."
The veteran war hero was at a loss for words right now, just like how Roger put it himself 'newborn children are birthed without sin huh? Damn, I guess he got to me more than I expected.' Garp ever usual stoic and boisterous attitude was in exchange for something completely out of character, confusion. He was contemplating and second guessing himself right now as Ace could have been the exception but he guessed another won't hurt anyone… at least for a while.
While Roger really did seem to respect his crew deeply and would always charge against his adversaries head on, even when the odds were stacked against him, Bardock didn't care as much and just wanted to fight just to fight. The title 'The Beast from Hell' wasn't simply given to him on a whim.
But his brat… no…. Goku, seemed different based on first glance alone. Perhaps on his mother side, whoever she is, as the renegade saiyan wasn't one to care all that too much.
Weather Garp noticed or not, Gohan most certainly did. While Garp and even Sengoku believe him to be an outright killer without remorse simply isn't true and Gohan knew it. He left his newborn son to a sympathetic and forgiving man in hopes he lives well instead of fighting for his life alongside his father or worse, outright killed. No wonder he would follow the king until the end, because Bardock saw a lot of himself in Roger. Gohan then realized that Roger and Bardock aren't so different after all, and was simply convinced just by his reports he was given.
Garp relented after that point considerably fast, which was really out of character for a guy like him. He's the picture definition of stubborn "Okay then Gohan, you've got me. Maybe I'm just going a little overboard on the whole thing. Man, I need a drink after that. Where's Makino with that baby stuff anyway?" Asserted Garp as he scratches the back of his head quizzically. Just after he blurted out his wishes, the bartender entered back into the fray with a load of baby supplies such as diapers and diaper rash powder, baby formula, a blanket and other necessities to take care of a baby.
"Sorry I took so long, guess I forgot where I put them all when renovating." Explained Makino as she begins to pack everything to carry better.
"Oh you're quite alright a Makino" as Gohan takes back his grandson back and into the brown woven back basket "thank you for lending me some of your supplies again Makino, it means the world to me." Said the old martial artist.
"Hey Makino, what is your strongest thing in here you've got to offer?"
"Well we have some decade old ale and I can mix it with some gin? Probably the strongest thing I can produce."
"Please Makino, I really need it right now. I can't say why but just know it's for an important reason." Requested the vice admiral with haste.
"Ok sure, I'll go ahead brew it up then" she then goes back behind the bar counter and performs her ordered drink, finishing it within a couple of minutes. "Thanks for that again Makino." As he gulps down the alcoholic contents within seconds. The two seniored men leave the establishment and head out of the village only to part ways in the fork of the road leading to Mount Corvo and Pazoo, with Gohan taking Pazoo and Garp taking Corvo.
Within their time of the son duo living on the island, Gohan has started teaching Goku the principles of martial arts at an early age, practically when he started walking on his own two feet, and its fundamental life changes it gives. Just like his journey, Gohan trained him in the style of Rokushiki. It is said, those who mastered the Rokushiki will have the strength of a hundred men.
Before his grandson begins learning some of the actual moves he can use in the Rokushiki style, Gohan implemented a specific training regiment to better build his body up to be a perfect vessel to be able to handle the moves. All the while teaching him other techniques he learned from his martial arts journey and his time in the navy.
His training consisted of being able to outswim sharks within the ocean surrounding the island, climbing up the steepest parts of mount Pazoo, and outrunning the most notorious and vicious beast on the island all the while donning a fifty pound purple turtle shell on his back, with Gohan expanding the weight to make it harder.
Weeks go by for the two. Then weeks turn into months. Months into years.
Goku continues to grow up with progressing ever so smoothly, most likely to his combative instincts he attained from his father. Growing up not just physically but also mentally, Gohan is no rocket scientist but he can at least give his grandson a decent education about the world and how to act with Makino from time to time helping out as well. It's been going on like this for years.
And this is when they'll meet. The two boys who change each other lives.
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx6 years in the future
In the middle of a small clearing in Mount Pazoo was two people doing what seemed to be a kind of training regiment… if you could call it that, it just looks like a beat down for one of them. The other person was observing in hopes the other could actually fight back.
The one being senselessly thrown around like a rag doll is a kid of possibility no more than 6 years. The kid has black shaggy hair, round black eyes, and a scar under his left eye with two stitch marks. He has a white T-shirt and short, blue trousers with cuffs and sandals. This lad was Monkey D. Luffy, the grandson of Monkey D. Garp. Speaking of which, said grandpa was the one training his grandson to grow up into a powerful navy officer.
He had recruited some of the forest monkeys on the island to help Luffy become a strong fighter so why not have energetic, wild, unpredictable animals as your opponents. On paper it sounded good to Garp. However the results were less than stellar. Luffy with all his might in his pungent body could not land some good blows, the monkeys were just too fast for him and their acrobatics are on a different level. Luffy gets sent to where Garp is at his feet, he casually stands back up and dust off the dirt on him and looks up to his grandfather.
"Grandpa! Why do you want me to fight these?!" Asked Luffy with a confused expression, rubbing his head from the last punch that sent him there. He hears a monkey chuckle and sees it performing rapid jabs, indicating that it's ready for another round.
"That's your training!" Explained Garp.
"My training?! It just makes me hungry and I don't wanna get hit anymore!" Professed the six year old only to have another snarky remark from the monkey, this time two more decided to come in and do the jabs as well.
"Don't be such a baby! You've got to become the strongest Navy soldier!"
"I'm gonna become a pirate, not a Navy soldier!"
"Huh?! You fool!" Garp punches at Luffy's head, leaving a giant, pink lump on his head because of his answer.
"Ouch! Nothing is more painful than getting hit by grandpa!" Just then there was a rustling sound behind the monkeys in a bush. Both the Monkey family and the actual monkeys look over, with the animals moving up to the overgrowth in the tree line to stay clear. It seemed they were spooked more than anything else but decided to not take chances.
Then at the right end of the bush was a monkey tail sticking out, although it seemed different in a way. For instance, the coloration of it was darker, milk chocolate brown instead of the beige the monkeys from earlier had, and had more length to it. Then a figure behind the bush finally came out and presented itself to the duo.
It was a young boy around the same age as luffy. He donned a martial arts Gi,an open blue gi secured with a white bow-tied obi over his waist, red wristbands, and dark blue kung fu shoes and also a tank top underneath the Gi. Other than the tail behind him, his other prominent feature was his spikey, wild, coal black hair he has. This is Son D. Goku at the age of 7.
While Luffy didn't know the other as he wasn't part of the village, Garp did recognize the boy in front of him. Just like the veteran Navy Admiral, Goku also recognizes the old man in front of him. How could he not when he visits him and his grandpa in his spare time. Even though it's in six month intervals or possibly longer, he could never forget his 2nd father "Hey there Uncle Garp!"
"Hey there Goku! It's good seeing you again! You've grown up a bit more since I saw you."
"Yeah, Grandpa is showing me some new training stuff and it's super tough!"
"Oh really now, good to know that you're gonna be a strong marine one day then."
Not wanting to be left out of the conversation, Luffy injects into the conversation "Hey Grandpa, who's that kid with the tail? I don't know him from the village." Garp looks down to his grandson and looks over to Goku "Goku, this is my Grandson, his name is Luffy. Luffy, this is Goku and he's a year older than you. He is the grandson of Gohan, my other dad so to speak. I was gonna introduce to you two later today but I guess he beat us to it."
Luffy runs up to Goku and puts out his hand for a handshake "Hiyah, I'm Luffy. Hey, is that tail of yours really real?"
Goku reciprocates the handshake and a smile to boot "Huh, oh yeah my tail is real? Do you not have a tail? Did you cut it off or something?"
"Huh? I wasn't born with a tail… or was I?" Luffy looks towards his grandfather and asks "hey grandpa, was I born with a tail?"
Said grandfather didn't know how to respond, how was he supposed to say that Goku's father, a notorious criminal that has caused havoc throughout the seas, was born with one! So instead he explains it by "well uh no Luffy, you weren't born with one. Goku is just a special case, that's all."
"Oh ok then" the younger of the two boys peaks at the others tail and asks "hey, do you think I can touch your tail!"
"Umm you see, I'd rather if you didn't do that. My tail is sensitive and whenever it's held onto, I lose all my energy and fall to the ground."
Garp interjects saying "I see, that could be a big problem for you Goku if you plan on becoming a High Ranking Marine. What do Gohan think about this?"
"Actually I don't wanna be a marine. I wanna be the best Martial Artist in the world and be the next Grand Martial Lord. Since grandpa couldn't beat the champion, I wanna do it for him!"
'Attain the title of Martial Lord? But in order to get that he has to go through the current Lord, Lord Beerus. What's worse, he is one of the commanders of one the Yonko. Gohan what are you thinking telling him that.' Garp stops overthinking this as it'll be a while before Goku can even attempt to challenge him. "Well as long as Gohan is on with it then it's fine with me. Speaking of which, where's Gohan and why are you here all alone?"
"Huh? Oh yeah I went out to forage for food tonight! You should see the giant fish I got for us!" Then Goku goes back to the bush where he emerged from and pulls out a giant beluga sturgeon of about twenty to thirty feet long. It's still wet so it looks like it was just caught recently… however the nearest river is about a couple miles or so away. Goku's hull sure is an impressive one.
"WOW! You caught that all by yourself?! You must be strong!" Shrieked out Luffy at the amazing sight of that much food.
Yeah I'm strong, but I'm nowhere near as strong as grandpa is. Hey Luffy, wanna eat this with me? We can share it!"
"Yeah, I want some meat right now!"
The two quickly run off into a random direction, with the older two of the boys leading the way and the latter following behind. Presumably to the way of Gohan's hut house which is up the mountain more. Garp thinks about all the times he's visited Goku, and how his character is beginning to take shape. Perhaps Gohan was onto something about letting Goku stay with him. 'The kid is on the right path for sure, maybe Gohan's intuition was right on this. Only time will tell for him though. And Ace for that matter.' Garp realizes that the boys are now out of sight and begins to follow where he last saw them.
'Time to see where this will go then.'

Oh wow did I have a blast for writing out this chapter and the potential story writing I have for it. I'm just getting so excited just thinking about it and the possible situations I have for this! The many fights I get to write out, different directions it might go, possible relationships that could be formed! Man I'm hyped about this!
Next chapter will follow the beginning journey or in this case Romance Dawn Arc so get ready for that. For the beginning stuff it won't change other than Goku being there so don't expect anything major happening.
Goku in One Piece without him just simply being transported into the universe with all his power is simply too unrealistic and boring (not naming anyone but cough* cough* story of the dragon pirate cough* cough*) with so much of a power difference it's not even funny. You could make the case that kizaru is as fast as the speed of light, which is another can of worms I don't wanna open, in which if he is then what's the point if Goku is trillions of times faster.
Doing it this way I think is the best way to make sense and better flow with it's progression. And with that whole Grand Martial Lord title, since there's a king of the pirates title and best swordsman title I thought 'let's do the best martial artist title as well.' So that was my thought process, if there is a title like that already then just let me know in the reviews and I'll change it.
As far as Devil Fruit go, Goku will have his Ki like in Dragon Ball just now in the Devil Fruit, also known as the Chi-Chi Fruit (it's still pronounced as Ki but forwriting sake it's typed as Chi) or the Ki-Ki no mi. He has it before the start of his journey just like Luffy with his gum-gum fruit and how he gets it will be discussed with Luffy's flashback. With his hat. Just know that he got it from the original owner… which may or may not shock you but get ready your feel songs reading that part.
Now as to what you probably want to know the most is 'who will bang Goku?' Or 'Will Goku have a harem?' And to answer those questions for is that no, Goku will not have a harem in this so sorry to disappoint you but Goku and harems is simply overdone and I just wanted to do a regular one-on-one relationship for him. Now I won't say who it will be (because frankly I don't have a clue either and I'm the one writing this thing, however I probably will when done with the first couple of chapters) so I want y'all to speculate on who you think I will choose.
Could it be Nami?
Could it be Nico Robin?
Could it be princess Vivi?
Could it be Boa Hancock?
Could it be Big Mom? (Ok no, that was just a joke. If y'all say big mom and actually want that then that's how I know the human race has failed and believe Zamasu did nothing wrong xD)
You guys will know whenever the time will come and I'll try to make it as realistic as possible to be a better reading experience.
Some of the situations I have planned is a big change so I really hope you guys stick with me for the road guys cause after 20 plus years and Oda is still writing, I have a lot of catch up work planned ahead for me. But I do want to write up to a point at least, maybe up to Marine Ford but most likely even beyond that cause I enjoy it that much. We'll just see when the time comes I guess.
Man I just have so much more to say about this but for now I think I'll leave it be with this and continue on with the next chapter. Got any questions? Ask in the reviews and I'll answer in the next chapter. And with that, bye guys!
