It was late in the evening, when William got home and saw Julia with tears in her eyes and a scotch in her hand, "Julia, what's wrong?"
"Dr. Forbes dismissed me"
"What, why?" he asked as he sat down
"Remember that patient I told you about with ovarian torsion and I gave her an operation?"
"Yes and saved her life"
"Well, what I didn't tell you is that she wasn't my patient. She was Dr. Deakins, who said the patient was hysterical and it was just a kidney stone."
"Typical male doctor"
She took a gulp and nodded, "after the surgery, I apparently embarrassed him and he told Dr. Forbes, who told me that I had to apologize…which I didn't. I went to Dr. Deakins and confronted him that I didn't mean to embarrass him, but to examine his female patients properly, instead of diagnosing it as female hysteria. He then said I was being hysterical, and was mad that I didn't apologize and went to Dr. Forbes again. When I arrived at work, Dr. Forbes asked me to his office and said he was sick of my complaining, he called it and dismissed me with the boards approval. Before, I left I told him, this is not over and walked to my office and packed up my things, before Dr. Deakins came by with a smirk look and told me good luck with my hysteria. All I wanted to do was slap them both!"
William got up and rubbed his forehead, "well Julia, I am proud that you followed your conscience and saved that woman."
"And…"
He approached her and gave her a kiss, "good for you, for standing up to your principles."
She kissed him, "how did I marry such a wonderful supportive husband?"
William shrugged, "there rare, but you have my full support, Julia. I am not mad you didn't apologize to Deakins or that you were dismissed. And your right, its not over, for Dr. Forbes."
"Thank you, William, truly"
"I can finally be truthful, and please forgive me, but I have never like Dr. Forbes."
Julia laughed, "your forgiven and I don't blame you" she said as she put down her glass on the table and stood up, took William's hand, "show me your full support, William." She said with a seductive look as he picked her up bridal style to their bedroom.
