Chapter One- Who's Been Hurting You?

"DAMN IT!" A piercing noise was heard as glass shattered across the floor. She flinched at the sound and her eyes widen with fear as she stared at the boy in front of her. Her breathing hitched and her eyes stung with tears, she held back the cry she wanted to let out and watched him quietly. He looked at her with angry eyes, slowly walking up to her with his hand clenched into a fist.

Her breathing became heavy, "P-Please Luka, don't." She pleaded and stepped back, her body met a wall and her eyes glued to the floor as her body tensed up. Tears fell down her eyes and he gripped her chin with his finger and thumb, he lifted her head up forcefully, "Look at me!"

He said with a hard voice and her eyes flickered up to his blue eyes and whimpered. His other hand held her wrists above her head and gripped them tightly against the wall. More tears began streaming down her cheeks and held his glare, "When I tell you not to talk," he started and his hand that once held her chin, grabbed her neck and squeezed his fingers lightly, "I mean it." She whimpered as she felt the pain course through her neck and tried to steady her breath. Marinette closed her eyes and silently begged for him to stop, his grip tightened around her wrist and her neck before letting go a few moments after.

He grabbed his keys and headed out the door, he turned to see the girl still against the wall, "I'll be back tomorrow night." With that, he slammed the door and she instantly fell to her knees and sobbed. Her red kwami flew up to her quietly and nuzzled her tiny body against the bluenette's cheek.

She brought her knees to her chest and hugged them tightly. Her hand flew to her mouth to quiet down but failed, the pain was heard through her soft cries as her kwami tried to comfort her the best she can. Tears continued falling down the young girl's cheeks and her chest tightened as she felt like she couldn't breathe.

"Tikki, c-can we go out?" She asked in between cries and her kwami sadly nodded. "Spots on." A red light overtook her as she transformed, she knew it was Chat Noir's turn to patrol but she needed to leave. She needed to leave and forget for a few hours before she had to go to school tomorrow, she sighed heavily and regained her breath. She walked out onto the balcony and threw her yo-yo around a far building.

She swung throughout the streets of Paris, feeling the wind whip by her cheeks and the sight below. The spotted heroine landed swiftly onto a rooftop and ran through the balconies. She dived down into the streets before she flipped back up and caught her yo-yo on the Eiffel Tower.

Landing on her feet, she sat down and let her legs dangle above the city lights and sighed. She stared down at her lap and fidgeted with her fingers before a tear slipped from her eyes.

"M'Lady?" A soft but muscular voice called out to her, she didn't turn but she wiped her tears away from her face and drew in a deep breath before answering, "Y-Yeah, Kitty."

He jumped over to her and sat down beside her, "What's wrong?" He asked softly and glanced at her. She avoided his gaze and sniffed, "Nothing."

"Bullshit. Tell me." He sighed and held her chin softly, she flinched at the touch but eased into it. He noticed this and stared into her eyes, recognizing the glint of fear and heartbreak. She looked away but he still held her chin, the more he gazed at her face, the more he noticed the marks on her face.

His thumb lightly brushes the bruise on her cheek and noticed more that trailed down her neck, his eyes widen in shock but slowly turned into anger. She turned her head away and continued watching the lights.

"Who's been hurting you?" His voice came out hard but concerned and she shut her eyes tightly, trying to hold back the tears once again.

She bit her lip and gulped, "Ladybug." He called out to her but she simply ignored him, afraid of what Luka would do if anyone ever found out that he had been abusing her the past few months. She sighed and peered up at him with teary eyes, he pulled her into a hug and held her tightly. She wrapped his arms around his waist and began crying softly.

They stayed in that position for about an hour or two, she rested her head on his shoulder as he rested his head on hers. The tears had stopped but her cheeks were stained with dried tears, she shuddered and sighed and he pulled her closer.

She glanced up at him, "Kitty? Thanks for being here." She whispered and he smiled at her and kissed her forehead.

"Of course, Bugaboo." They stared into each other's eyes for a moment and searched through their eyes. She stared back into his green emerald eyes, she saw sadness and hurt behind the beautiful color and her face fell into a frown. She didn't like seeing him hurt but it was because of her and the bluenette didn't know what to do but stare.

The black cat searched her eyes and all he found was heartbreak and hurt. He finally saw the pain behind his favorite pair of eyes, the front she had put up and pretended everything was okay. He noticed it all and looked down. He sighed, the mask she put up wasn't for her identity, it was for the abuse she would get. The hurt she had to endure and the tears that stained her beautiful snow skin.

Chat looked back into her eyes and slightly leaned forward, she felt his breath on her lips as her eyes flickered down to his lips than back up. He licked his lips and continued gazing at the girl just centimeters away. Her arms wrapped around his neck and she pressed her lips against his. His eyes widen with shock but then closed as he felt her lips on his.

He pulled away from the heated kiss and pressed his forehead against hers, "I have to go, m'Lady." He whispered and she nodded. Chat kissed her forehead before standing up and took his baton from the carrying place, pressed the button in which vaulted him up into the sky. She watched him jump away into the night and she sighed.

Ladybug stood from her spot and leaped off the tower, heading home.

She sighed as she closed the door form the house and started walking to school. The bluenette had woken up early to shower and wore one of her designs. It was a black button down shirt with white lining the hem of the shirt and the seams, the collars were white and the cuffs were rolled up to her elbows along with black leggings and white ballet flats. Her hair was tied up into a ponytail, she spent an hour covering most of the bruises that could be seen. The designer didn't want to risk anyone finding out so she covered up her body as much as she can.

Her thoughts were interrupted when she heard a loud voice, "Mari!" Her best friend called over as the two other boys stood next to her and waved.

"Hey guys." She softly said and gave them a small smile, they had an hour before school started so they all headed inside and sat down at their usual table. Marinette set her bag down and held back a wince as Alya's bag hit her shoulder. She bit her lip and blinked back tears, the blonde boy who sat in front had tilted his head in confusion and noticed the held back sound.

Are those bruises on her neck?, he thought to himself as he looked closer. The blonde cleared his throat and his thoughts churned. The bruises were covered up with makeup but even he knew makeup could only do so much. But, marks like that would need more than just makeup in which had him worried for his friend.

Adrien decided to ask her after school and join the conversation and the bell rung 40 minutes later. The brunette and her boyfriend stood up, walking ahead, Adrien helped Marinette up and she sighed as they walked with each other to class.

The duo walked into class shortly after their friends then a certain blonde girl came up to the model and pushed Marinette out of the way. She winced as the girl hit her shoulder, the blue eyed girl stared at her in shock and the bluenette quickly took her seat.

Before the blonde girl had a chance to speak with Marinette, class started and everyone had taken their seats. The minutes went by slowly as the bluenette was deep in thought. The kiss from the night before was burned into her mind, she bit her lip remembering his and his gorgeous green eyes. She really loved those eyes of his and she loved that he was there for her. Her small smile turned into a frown as the realization had hit her. Luka's coming back tonight and if he found out someone else kissed her, or rather she kissed someone else, he would get really pissed off. Her hands covered her face and she sighed deeply.

Stupid.

Stupid.

Stupid.

You shouldn't have kissed Chat Noir. Now you're dead and it's all your fault, her voice spoke in her head in a disapproving tone and glanced down at her lap. She hadn't noticed the sleeve sliding up her arm farther and one of her bruises had been seen. Neither did she notice Adrien look at her, his eyes had flickered to her bruise and his eyes widen.

No, this can't be right, he thought to himself and faced the board. He needed to talk to her, he became more worried with every minute that past and hope that the time could go faster.

The school day ended after three long hours and Marinette was the last one to pack up, she pulled her bag over her shoulder carefully and winced. She walked out of the classroom and entered the girls locker room, the blonde had already been in there but wasn't sure if he should approach her yet so he sat down quietly on the other side and listened.

Marinette sat on the bench and threw her bag on the floor with a thud, she groaned in frustration and sighed. She headed toward the bathroom and washed her face, the makeup on her neck had came off a little but no one could notice, right?

The bluenette walked out of the bathroom and untied her hair, her messy blue waves fell down to her shoulders as she pulled on an over-sized hoodie. Walking over to the window, she rested her hand on the sill and sighed, "I just all of this to stop." She whispered and her voice had cracked as she felt tears forming in the corner of her eyes.

She slid down the wall with tears threatening to fall, "Please make it stop.." She sniffed as Adrien's eyes held a saddened look and he glanced at Plagg. His kwami nodded and the blonde quietly sighed before walking to the opposite side to where he was.

"Netty?" Adrien softly said as the designer looked up with teary eyes and quickly wiped her tears away.

"Hey." She held a fake smile as best as she could but he could see right through her. He knew that smile all to well. The smile that was meant to portray that everything was fine and he would soon be okay, but all of that was and is a lie. He sighed and walked over to the girl, sitting down in front of her and searched her eyes for anything. Something to reassure him that she would be okay but there was nothing but pain.

He placed his hand on hers and whispered, "Tell me. You can trust me, Netty."

She couldn't hold back anymore and she had burst into tears, the model quickly pulled her into a hug and held her tightly. Her head rested on his shoulder as the tears streamed down her pink cheeks. He felt so many mixed emotions. Adrien was sad that he couldn't help her because something else might be going on and upset that someone had even thought of hurting his best friend. He sadly sighed as he rubbed her back trying to soothe her but nothing worked, so he let her cry it out before she felt comfortable talking about it.

A few minutes of crying passed, she pulled away from Adrien and let out a shuddered sigh, "I-I'm okay n-now." She sniffed and he nodded. She moved beside him and pulled her knees to her chest and deeply sighed. She hated feeling vulnerable and weak, she hated it with a passion. The bluenette sighed in frustration now that she has to explain everything to him and she didn't want to. Afraid she couldn't stop crying.

As if he read her mind, he spoke with a softened voice, "You don't have to explain but I'm here if you need anything, Netty." He gave her a small smile and stood up, he held his hand out for her and she took it. She dusted herself off and grabbed her bag while the blonde grabbed his and he suddenly pulled her into a tight embrace. Marinette appreciated this, she appreciated that he was there for her and she wanted to tell him everything. But, the consequences never end well for her, a shy girl like her usually never have a happy ending when it comes to this and she knew that.

They pulled away and headed out the school. She walked home and counted the minutes of freedom she had until her boyfriend had came home and she was terrified. Every night he would leave and come back frustrated and angrier than ever and she's his stress relief that he uses and abuses. Marinette loved him, she really truly did but when the boy had disappeared, a monster took his place and the realization of never getting out hit her hard.

The bluenette had to leave but no matter where she is, he'll find her and punish her. Some worse than others, some easier than others.

Taking in a deep breath, she arrived at the door and carefully unlocked it, trying to be as quiet as she can just in case he had came early. She entered the dark home and let out a breath she didn't realize she was holding. The designer locked the door behind her and set her keys down on the counter, a desk light turned on in the living room and her heart skipped a beat.

"L-Luka, I didn't know y-you would be back um- back so soon." She stuttered as she fidgeted with her fingers and her eyes flickered down as he stood up, his voice coming out in a hard tone, "Where were you and why are you late?"

Fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck, she cursed at herself and tried to come up with a quick lie. She couldn't tell him she was with Adrien, who he hates and he would really get really pissed off at her and that was the last thing she wanted.

"Well? I'm waiting." He reminded her and crossed his arms.

She then remembered that Alya had invited her to her birthday party tomorrow, "I was with Alya and we had spoke about her birthday tomorrow."

She gulped as he slowly approached her, stopping in front of the nervous bluenette and gripped her arms. He leaned down and whispered in her ear in a threatening tone, "If you're lying to me, Mari, you won't be going anywhere for the next week."

Her breath caught and her eyes started to fill with tears, "Y-You can ask h-her." She stuttered and reached into her pocket with shaky hands and handed him her phone.

He took it from her hand and dialed Alya's number, his right hand gripped her arm tighter as the phone rang. A couple rings later, she answered and he put the phone on speaker.

"Hey, girl! What's up?" Her voice spoke through the phone and Marinette tried to regain herself and ignored the pain coming from her arm.

"Hey, Al. Is it cool if I bring Luka with me?" She asked as he stared down at her like he was burning holes through her head.

"Yeah, Mari of course! The boys would want to meet him anyway, the same thing with the girls."

He gripped her arm more harder and she bit her lip, "A-Alright, bye girl." He hung up the phone and threw it onto the couch. He dragged her into their room and slammed their door closed. She jumped at the sound and was suddenly pushed up against the wall and her eyes were glued to the floor.

"Let this be the last time you are ever late or the next punishment will last longer."

She avoided his gaze and her body shuddered when his hand slid down her body and gripped her thigh, she hated when he did this. When he took advantage of her, of her vulnerability.

And all she could do was stand there and doing nothing. Just take in the pain from the long night ahead of her.
