Forgotten Part 1

"Disorienting quirk type? Well that explains a lot."

The voice he heard laughed. Whoever it was seemed to think whatever situation they were in was funny. He opened his eyes. The person speaking was a young man. He had blonde hair and large red wings. The winged man was standing… meaning he was laying down, wherever he was.

Carefully, he sat up. He was on a thin bed. As his body pressed against the frame, he realized there was a metal rail on the side he used to pull himself forward. His head began to pulse as he sat up. He must be at a hospital. Clearly he was injured.

He could now see the man with wings was talking to a gruff man with black hair. He had a thick scarf around his neck. Yellow goggles sat on top of his head. As he pulled himself up he groaned catching both men's attention.

The winged man looked over. "Tsukoyami! You're awake."

"Tsukoyami?" He whispered to himself. Was that him?

The black haired man made his way over to him. "Tokoyami, you should lie down."

"Am I Tokoyami?" He asked.

Aizawa sighed and nodded his head. He patted Tokoyami on the shoulder as he laid down. "Don't worry, Tokoyami. We are going to take good care of you. You will be alright."

"Yeah, you'll be fine, Fumikage," another voice said.

Tokoyami's head darted around the room. He couldn't see a third person, but knew he heard a third voice. The voice seemed, unnerving. It was both a frightening and comforting tone. His heart began to race as he tried to sit up again.

The red winged man was now talking to what looked like a police officer. Just what had happened to him before? Was it the officer who had just spoken? Did the red winged man save him?

The black haired man tightened his grip on Tokoyami's shoulder. "Relax Tokoyami. You are safe. I'm your teacher. I'm not going to let anything bad happen."

A wave of dizziness overcame Tokoyami. He laid his head down. "Alright," he muttered as he closed his eyes.

He was falling. That was the only certain thing Tokoyami knew. He saw the ground coming closer and then suddenly it went black.

Tokoyami shot up in the hospital bed. He pushed himself forward to the bed to stand. A sharp pain him his left arm tugged him back. He looked back to see a heart rate monitor and IV drip plugged into his arm.

An old woman was hovering beside the monitor. "Tokoyami, dear, it is okay. You are safe."

The door to his hospital room opens. It was the man in Black. "Tokoyami, relax. Remember, I told you I wouldn't let anything bad happen."

Tokoyami stared at him. He seemed stern, but sincere. Seemed very much like a teacher. "What happened to me? And I'm Tokoyami, right? Or is that you?

"No. You are Tokoyami. I'm Aizawa sensei. Take a seat and I will fill you in on what you need to know."

Tokoyami took a minute to decide whether or not Aizawa was sincere. His body was calm, and he wasn't walking towards Tokoyami. He moved back towards the bed, and sat on the side. The old woman gently reached for his arm and checked the IV connection. Tokoyami flinched at her touch.

"Don't worry about Recovery Girl," Aizawa said. "Do you remember anything that happened to you?"

Tokoyami shook his head. "I remember waking up to you and the red winged man."

"That red winged man was Hawks. He's your mentor." AIzawa explained. "I'm your teacher at U.A. You're in the hero course."

"You're a hero!"

Tokoyami's eyes grew wide as he heard the unearving voice again. His head darted around the q room. "I'm a hero?"

"Hero in training,"Aizawa corrected.

"You're basically a hero. We are the only ones who can keep up with Hawks."

"Did you hear that?" Tokoyami asked Aizawa.

"Hear what?"

It must just be me. I am injured. Perhaps it has something to do with my inability to recognize things. My head does hurt.

"I apologize. I thought someone was speaking to me." Tokoyami examined the IV placed on the back of his hand. He heard Aizawa hum.

"Tokoyami, this is going to be a lot to take in, but while protecting some citizens, you were hit by a villian with a disorientation type quirk. We believe this is why you don't really have much memory, though you did hit your head really hard in the fight."

"I see." That explained the amount of confusion he had, at least. "I suppose my actions must have resulted from some sort of careless act."

"On the contrary. Your actions kept others from being disoriented. The attack, meant for a larger group, hit only you. Hawks was able to apprehend them. If you hadn't have done what you did, it would possibly be you, Hawks, and at least fifty civilians feeling just as disoriented as you are. That villian is in holding waiting for questions. Hopefully we will have more answers from them in not too long of time."

Tokoyami couldn't help but smile. "It brings me comfort to hear my actions were not out of selfish intent or carelessness. I don't suppose you know what to do with me next."

"I plan to take you back to the dorms," Aizawa stated. "I can't leave you in the hospital all night. Besides, your classmates are surely worried."

Classmates? Tokoyami was starting to see how much of his life he truly didn't remember. "They are worried?"

Aizawa smirked. "You have no idea."

Once it was agreed that Tokoyami was well enough to leave the hospital, Aizawa guided him to the school car. Once in, the drive started, along with a ton of information.

"It's fine if you don't remember things," Aizawa said. "The effects should only last a few days. At least that's what we hope. I'm still taking my time getting information from the current villain. Most disorienting type quirks don't last forever though."

"That's good to hear."

"I know you are going to have a lot of questions. That's okay. And it's also okay to be overwhelmed. Just don't try to leave campus on your own. You kids are well known."

"How old am I?" Tokoyami asked.

"You are seventeen."

At least I'm still young and don't have quite as many responsibilities as an adult.

At that moment, Tokoyami felt a weird cooling sensation pull from his chest. He looked down to see a dark mass coming out of his chest. A yellow eye cracked open and it smiled. "Yeah, we're still young and fun."

"What the hell is that?!" Tokoyami's whisper lacked air. His beak started to turn white.

The black mass moved closer to his face. "Fumikage! You don't remember me? Fumikage, stay awake!"

Darkness fell over Tokoyami along with silence.

"Should we wake everyone else up?"

"That's not fair to Tokoyami. He isn't even awake."

"Why did Aizawa just leave him here with us, Momo?"

"He is needed to interrogate the villain that did this to Tokoyami."

"We will just take care of Tokoyami until he is awake. Then figure it out from there."

There were many voices now. Tokoyami could hear them before he realized his eyes were closed. He didn't want to open his eyes. He didn't know where he was. There was a giant black talking mass that just popped right out of him. There were too many reasons to keep his eyes closed.

The weird cooling feeling came from his chest again. That voice. That creepy, unnerving voice he had heard in his head spoke again.

"Fumikage doesn't remember me!"

"It will be okay, Dark Shadow, ribbit. He's been through a lot."

"That's fascinating. I need to write this down."

Tokoyami finally caved into his curiosity and opened his eyes. He was staring at an orange ceiling with a low spinning fan. Looking up he saw he was on a green couch. The black mass from his chest was extended over the back of the couch. Just as he was about to sit up, a lone mouth accompanied by an eye looked over him.

"Tokoyami, you are awake!"

The black mass shot back towards Tokoyami. The creature's face and yellow eyes stared right at him. It looked, saddened, and concerned. It bumped it's forehead against him.

"Fumikage do you remember me?"

Tokoyami didn't know what to do. The creature clearly felt concern for him. It couldn't be malicious. So he decided to prop himself on his elbows as the creature stared at him.

"Am I Fumikage?" Tokoyami asked. The black mass nodded its head. Tokoyami sighed and shook his head. "Then no. I don't … don't know you."

A large hand patted the creature's head as it let out a solum cry. "Dark Shadow, it will be okay." The hand belonged to a girl with dark green hair. Her face was quite neutral, and… lovely. Tokoyami stared at the girls as she pet "Dark Shadow."

"This is fascinating." A green haired boy moved beside the girl. He held a notebook in his hands and was scribbling rapidly.

A large man with many arms stood behind the green haired boy. One of his hands turned to a floating mouth. "Is this really the time, Midoriya?" the floating mouth asked.

"We know so little about sentient quirks, Shoji" Midoriya said.

"Tokoyami is our friend, not a science experiment," Shoji stated.

The green haired girl seemed to pick up on Tokoyami's stare. "Hello, Tokoyami."

"Hello," Tokoyami replied.

"You really don't remember anything, do you? Ribbit." She lifted the hand she was petting Dark Shadow with and extended it to Tokoyami. "I'm Tsuyu Asui. But please call me Tsu."

"Tsu," Tokoyami repeated as he took her hand. She helped pull him up. "That's a lovely name."

The room went silent. Tsu seemed to freeze in place, still connected to the boy. Her face slightly immediately felt regret in his were at least a dozen people in the room. Too many for him to even focus on faces or features. They all seemed rather dumbstruck. He hung his head. "Did I say something wrong?"

Tsu shook her head, and continued to pull Tokoyami to his feet. "No, you didn't say anything wrong. You just… spoke very out of character."

"I apologize," Tokoyami said with a slight bow to the group. Dark Shadow slipped back into his body. "I suppose I don't really know what in character would be for me."

"That was more in character," Shoji said.

Tokoyami looked at the large muscular man who spoke out of the tentacle on his arm. Shoji was his name if he remembered. His natural face appeared covered by a grey mask. He would have asked Shoji for a more detailed explanation, when his head began to pound. Tokoyami grabbed both sides of his head and crouched in pain.

Dark Shadow emerged from his back. "Are you okay? What's wrong?"

"My vision needs darkness," Tokoyami moaned. "My head is in so much pain." He felt Dark Shadow wrap around his body. He wanted to tell it to stop, but another wave of pain came.

"Ribbit, this is probably very overwhelming for Tokoyami. Not even all of us are down stairs." Tsu walked over to Tokoyami and placed her hand on his arm. "Would you like to go to your room?

"I have a room?" He looked Tsu in the eyes. This really was a confusing day.

As Tokoyami stood, a tall girl with a black ponytail began to tell others what to do. "Midoriya, you are the only one on his floor. Take Tokoyami to his room and stay with him. Don't let him be alone."

The boy with the notebook nodded. He walked over to Tokoyami and patted him on the back. "Come on Tokoyami."

After a confusing trip towards an elevator and up a floor, Tokoyami arrived at a door. He saw his name, Tokoyami,Fumikage. He opened the door. Inside the room was dark, with a purple light. The decor was ominous. Tokoyami was hesitant to walk into the space but as he entered, his body relaxed.

"It feels better in here," he said.

"Really?" Midoriya asked. "Do you mean like it feels familiar, or that you physically feel better?"

"I don't remember any object here, but the atmosphere… My headache is gone."

"Wow." Midoriya pulled out his pen and began writing down in his notebook.

Dark Shadow slowly poked its head out of Tokoyami's chest. "Is it alright if I come out?"

"I suppose." Tokoyami was cautious as the shadow creature grew from his chest. He sat down on his bed in amazement. "How are you so large?"

"It's the darkness," Midoriya answered, still jotting from the doorway. "Dark Shadow is stronger in dark than light. You need a dark space to keep your quirk strong."

Dark Shadow darted around the room. He went to the nightstand and pulled out a bright flashlight. It plopped it in the trash can. "You have been meaning to get rid of that."

"You would seem to know me. We are attached."

"You are my host. We feed off of very similar needs."

Tokoyami stared at the growing quirk. "I see. I guess this may explain why I feel so much better encased in darkness."

"And I thought your macobe outlook was more le spectacle, hmmm." Aoyama stuck his head in the door behind Midoriya.

"Aoyama, what are you doing here?" Midoriya asked.

"I heard that notre ami was unable to remember. A pas de memoire." The shiny blonde smiled and spun into the room. "Do you recognize me, your dazzling friend, ami?"

Tokoyami shielded his eyes from the sparkles. "I apologize. I have no memory of you."

"What a shame." Aoyama picked up a lovely silver mirror and held it up. "Tre magnifique! Its the mirror fit for me?"

"Oh, is it yours? I suppose I wouldn't know if I had borrowed from anyone."

"Moi? Possible." Aoyama smirked. Dark Shadow was about to growl when its attention moved toward the door.

"Ha! He really has no memory." A small boy with purple balls on his head entered the room. He was accompanied by a taller blonde with a black lightning streak in his hair.

Dark Shadow turned towards the group with narrow eyes. Tokoyami began to feel slightly overwhelmed as he sat on his bed. "Who are all of you, and why are you in my room?"

"We always come in here," Mineta said with a slight smirk. "I'm Mineta, and this is Kaminari."

"Sup," Kaminari said, digging through the keychain collection on Tokoyami's desk. He looked up to a guitar in the corner of the room. "Oh hey! It's my guitar."

"Your guitar?" Midoriya looked up to see Tokoyami handing his bass guitar to Kaminari. "Are you sure that-"

"I knew I left it somewhere. I must of played it here last," Kaminari said, speaking over Midoriya with a smirk on his face.

"I am sorry for collecting both your items. It must be my Raven side. That sounds like an accurate reason at least." Tokoyami looked towards Midoriya and Mineta. "I suppose I have taken from you two as well."

Mineta waved his hand. "Naw, you just owe me money for lunch last Saturday."

"What!" Midoriya exclaimed, as Aoyama walked out of the room carrying the silver mirror.

Even Dark Shadow raised an eyebrow at Mineta. Tokoyami didn't seem to notice. "I don't know where my wallet would be."

"No worries we'll sort it out when you feel better. Oh hey!" He pointed to the sword leaning against his bed. "Isn't that Midoriya's sword?"

"My Sword?!" Midoriya practically yelled. Before he knew any better, Midoriya was face to face with a sorrowful Tokoyami.

"Here you are. I don't know how long I kept it for. I hope it has no damage." Tokoyami shoved it into Midoriya's hands. Midoriya looked down at the sword, baffled by the fact that he was indeed, holding a real sword. A sword that Tokoyami would never let leave his sight.

This isn't right. He needed to say no. He needed to tell Tokoyami that the other boys had lied to him to get what they wanted. This wouldn't end well. Surely Tokoyami would regain his memories and know what had happened. But why would Dark Shadow allow for all this?

Mineta and Kaminari grabbed Midoriya and pulled him out the door. "We should let you get some sleep. You need to rest up for tomorrow," Mineta called out.

They waved and closed the door before Midoriya could even fight back. As soon as they were in the hallway, Midoriya began to freak out.

"You guys can't do that to Tokoyami," Midoriya said.

"You not innocent it this, Midoriya." Mineta and Kaminari were too busy laughing. Kaminari pointed to Midoriya. "Your taking notes on him like your a zoo keeper And beside, you're holding the sword!"

Midoriya swallowed a dry lump in his throat. He was standing there with the sword in his hand. He glared at the metal blade, searching for answers. Was he to hold onto it, or go return it now and face the consequences.

"He's going to murder us." Midoriya weezed and slowly inched his way to his room as Kaminari and Mineta separated for the night.

Back in his room, Tokoyami realized he was now left alone with Dark Shadow. The yellow eyed demon looked its host in the eyes.

"I know you are afraid."

"I'm not exactly sure how else to feel when you just come out like that."

"We share a body. I know how you feel. I know what you are thinking."

"Great. Then you know I am overwhelmed and would like to be alone."

"You didn't have to say it like a dick."

Dark Shadow slowly slid back into Tokoyami's body. Tokoyami lay on his bed, in the dark and in the silence. This was very confusing. A quirk that lived in him. He lived with way too many people to even remember their names. He was happy to be alone in the dark. There was nothing for him to do. He barely knew where he was, so instead he just closed his eyes and drifted off to sleep.
