A/N: hey guys, sorry about the glitch but I fixed it now. I will be posting a new chapter everyday. My estimate is there will be about 20 chapters in total, so stick around and enjoy. Xxx

The night my life changed began with a kiss. Her hands cruised up my chest and twirled themselves around my neck, her long, thin fingers sliding themselves in my hair.
I pulled away to take a breath. 'So, did you enjoy the movie?' I took her hand and we continued walking through the city towards her house, the moon peeking at us from behind the fluffy silver clouds.
'Yes, Xav the movie was great. Thank you for such a great night out,' she smiled, showing off her straight, pearly white teeth. 'But…' she continued, biting her lip '… I don't think that with all those people around we got enough time for us.' She stopped us and stood in front of me and looked deep into my soul, her long wine-coloured hair swaying all the way down to the bottom of her back. She kept them down today for our date, knowing that's how I liked them.
See, Maya was my girlfriend for almost two years now and I knew, from the subtle hints she has been dropping me, she is waiting for me to ask her to move in with me. But I know that this is not possible because Maya wasn't my soulfinder, and I know that it is wrong for us to be a couple when she is not even a Savant. This has been a conversation that I have had many, many times with my brother and parents, but I couldn't help it. When we first started dating, I was just looking for something temporary as I knew that I had to wait for my soulfinder, but with Zed and Sky around the house together just deepened the hole in my heart. Don't get me wrong, I am very happy for Zed and I love Sky like she is my own sister, but seeing that they had what I didn't, as well as them being younger than me, I couldn't handle having to be around them all the time. So, when I met Maya, we just hit it off. It was attraction at first sight! I knew that there is someone out there who is made just for me, who is my other half but the chance of us meeting is very small, and I simply couldn't wait for that to happen. So, Maya and I started dating, and despite the rejections from my family they understood how hard it was for me.
Since a year ago, I noticed a change in Maya's behaviour towards me and I could tell she had fell in love with me. She is an amazing person and while I am very unsure about my feelings for her and what they mean, I think I am also falling for her. Yes, it is wrong and yes, it shouldn't be happening, but the heart feels what the heart feels, besides who knew how long it would be until I met my soulfinder. Who knew if this was even true love or not? The only thing I regret about my relationship with Maya is that the day I do meet my soulfinder I will have to let Maya go because I can't mess with my soul, my destiny, my other half.
I looked into Maya's eyes and she smiled, reaching up on her tiptoes. I leaned down and met her halfway as our lips collided with passion and just a few seconds later we were breathless. I broke away from her and put my forehead down on hers to let us catch our breath. It never took long for us to get breathless and it was always easy for us to lose control and give in to our passion, but I never let that happen because I knew that I wasn't hers. She had not met my family and they did not want to meet her either, telling me to wait for my fate to come along.
'Honey, are you OK? I mean you seem distant. Is everything all right at the hospital?' She asked, as her eyebrows cutely worried for me.
I smiled to ease her. 'Yes, sweetie I am ok, just a bit tired and ready to head home now.' Then I realised what that must have sounded like to her and I looked at her ready to explain myself.
But she just smiled and nodded, 'yes, I know what you mean, me too it's been a long night. Let's go.' She turned and took my arm hostage as we walked past all the lights and preparations in shops for Christmas. We turned the next street, and everything got darker as we approached her house.
'Thank you Xav, I really had an amazing night.' The expected look she gave me after that was one, I had seen in her eyes for many months now – it was the look that told me she was waiting for me to tell her I loved her. I almost did love her, almost, but I couldn't say it, it felt like I was betraying my soul and my whole purpose for being.
Where are you?I called for her in my head, but as always, my voice travelled into nothing, drifting away. After all there was no one on the receiving end and I couldn't wait until that gap was filled with my one true love.
I remembered Maya standing there, 'me too Maya. I will call you tomorrow. Goodnight baby.' I told her, making sure my voice was soft, so she didn't think I was hurrying this along. I leaned down to her for one last kiss and as we met, my hands slid around her waist and under the hem of her shirt, my fingers stroking her creamy white skin.
As our kiss began to turn passionate, I felt a presence. Not like a ghost presence, but like a person watching us. Obviously, there was someone there because a savant's instincts are almost never wrong – well especially the Benedict familys'. I looked up to see a girl, a tall girl mind you, walking past us her eyes fixed on me. Maya had her back to the girl so didn't see her, but I did. Our eyes met and my body rebelled and forced me to stop kissing Maya. The passion I had a few minutes ago, dispersed into the surroundings and all I could focus on was the girl. As she walked past, it was like watching the most perfect heroine in a slow motion shot of a movie. She got closer and her features became more clearer in the light. She was beautiful.
I couldn't tear my eyes away from her and I stepped around Maya to get a better look. Her slim long legs gave her height that no other girl I knew had, she was almost as tall as me. She also stopped and looked at me. The look on her face changed from wonder to confusion, then she turned and walked away. Umm… OK. What just happened? What was that?
Clearly, I wasn't the only one thinking of this bizarre thing that just happened to me. 'Xav? What's wrong? Who was that? Do you know her?' Maya huffed behind me, clearly getting more irritated with me by the minute. I didn't blame her; I mean first I'm not behaving normal with her and now this.
I just needed to get home. 'I'm so sorry, sw- uh, Maya. I don't know what just happened, I think I just need to get home and sleep. I will call you tomorrow, okay. Bye.' What the heck!? I can't even call my own girlfriend 'sweetie' anymore, it just wouldn't come out. Ok, that's it. If this weird behaviour of mine carries on tomorrow, I'm seriously going to flip out. What is wrong with me? I turned away from Maya and started to walk home, needing a minute to slow down everything that happened in the last hour.
I got a good ten minutes of walking in peace when I heard Trace's fuzzy voice in my head calling out to me. I was still a bit far from home, so the connection was weak, so I just got my phone out of my pocket and decided to call him. He answered on the first ring.
'Hey Xav. Sorry to bother you this late.'
'Yeah, it's no problem Trace. What's up?'
'I got a little – well not little – situation here. Can you please come up? I will send you my location.' He sounded in a hurry, so I decided not to argue.
'Yeah, OK Trace. On my way.'
'Thanks, Xav. Bye'
