This takes place during Season 8 Episode 22.
Reunion and Conspiracy
She's a little surprised that he agreed to see her. Sure, they split on good terms with great final sexx but it's been two years and a lot could have changed in that time.
There he is, standing there, strong and tall, with his tight leather jacket strapped over his broad shoulders and his gorgeous blue eyes twinkling in the dark.
Before she loses her focus, she calls out his name.
"Over here, Robert!"
"Hi Allison!"
They hug and a shiver passes through Allison Cameron, as Robert Chase's firm body presses up against hers. She wants to get inside of him now.
As if he's sensed her inner thoughts, Robert pulls back rather abruptly. Allison coughs because his cologne is wonderfully intoxicating.
"So, how have you been for the past two years?" He asks.
I've missed you, but instead of saying the words, she leans forward and kisses his lips.
He doesn't know how to respond and so he doesn't resist.
She takes that as an invitation to deepen her kiss and she licks his lips. He opens his mouth and gives her tongue free passage to explore his mouth once again. With her body pressed against his and he cups her backside, while she attacks his buttons.
When his shirt comes off, she breathes heavily. Even in the dark, he's a built titan and she wants every part of him.
The titanic apartment building looms ominously over him as he sneaks in through the entrance. He pulls his hood down lower and slides to his door. Once he is inside, he breathes a sigh of relief.
"Greg!"
Gregory House jumps back and almost crashes into the door.
"Mom!" He exclaims. "How did? When did?"
"I know everything dear. So, what is going on?" Blythe asks.
Greg tells her everything, from the fire to the explosion to his miraculous escape.
Blythe nods slowly. "What now? Are you going to go to prison and miss James's death?"
"I don't know." Greg admits. "It was all so sudden. The escape. Back of the building and bam!"
"You escaped that burning building for a reason, Greg, because you knew that you were going to do something." Blythe reminds him.
"I know." He says.
"You said that the patient's body was left in the fire." Blythe recalls. "What if...you switched the identity somehow?"
"Dental records!" Greg claps his hands.
"Make sure that they cremate the body." Blythe smirks. "See you in five months!"
Morning of Mourning
Jessica Adams yawns as her eyes open up to the vicious glare of her bright clock. Fifty-seven minutes before the alarm! Why does she have to be so diligent?
She unwraps herself from the covers, which aren't nearly as warm as a man's embrace, which she hasn't felt in over a year. What's the point of carrying around a purse full of birth control pills when she is not getting any?
"Who was he? Or better yet, she?" Chase asks with a hint of interest.
It could have been you. It should have been you under me and on top of me. You were the one who always flirted with me. You opened up to me about your family. You were the one who saved my life. We should be together.
Of course, she never said any of this aloud because it would have sounded too cheesy, even though it was true. When she finally built up the courage to ask out Chase, he turned her down. He didn't even disagree with her when she implied that House orchestrated their feelings, or hers at least.
Adams never brought it up again and neither did Chase. It was pretty hurtful how he didn't even seem to care but she got over it, or at least pretended to. She never flirted with him again and she flat out yelled at him in Season 8 Episode 20. Then he left PPTH and she never saw him again but she still can't stop thinking about him. He was one of a kind.
The phone rings and Adams picks it up.
Park shouts from the other end. "Come quick! House…House might be…"
"Good for you, leaving House." Allison traces her finger over Robert's sternum, sturdy as ever.
"Come on Allison! I learned a lot from him. You learned a lot from him. In the end, he really liked me and I really liked him, even though neither one of us would ever admit it to the other." Robert mons, as Allison caresses his package, gently but firmly.
Allison opens her mouth to say something more but her face contorts into shock when she sees the red gash marks near Robert's heart.
"What happened there?" Allison touches the scar gingerly.
"Got stabbed by a patient. Nearly died. I blamed House for the longest time." Robert admits.
He has a vague recollection of the painful experience. Adams calling out his name. Adams ripping off his shirt. Adams blocking the hole to keep him alive. It'd felt good having her finger inside of him. Maybe it would have felt better to have her on top of him in another way but he blew that chance.
"You almost died!" Allison yells and breaks Robert's daydream. "And you didn't tell me!"
Robert caresses Allison's face. "It was a lot to go through and I didn't want to worry you."
Allison starts crying and Robert rushes to kiss away her tears.
"Hey, Allison. I am not going anywhere." He stops dead when he realizes what he just said, the gravity of his words.
"Run away with me!" She blurts. "That is why I asked to see you. We can go anywhere that isn't New Jersey or Chicago! We can start a new life together! I wanted to ask you this in Season 6 Episode 17 but you seemed ready to let me go and I wanted to respect that. However, I have been miserable for the last two years and I never stopped loving you. Not a day has gone by where I haven't thought about you."
Robert finds it hard to say no to the strikingly beautiful emerald eyes that are piercing through him but before he can say yes, her phone rings.
"Sorry. That was loud." Allison apologizes.
"Not as loud as us last night." Robert smirks and Allison snickers.
When she sees the caller, her face turns stark white and a sense of dread overtakes the room.
"Are you okay?" Robert puts his hand on her shoulder but she still shivers uncomfortably.
"I…" She tries to put her phone away but her shaking hand slips and she presses the voicemail.
"Hey Allison honey, it's Ken, your husband. I hope that the funeral in New Jersey went well. Just wanted to say that our adorable baby son, Cooper, really misses his mom. Stay safe and come home soon!"
Allison panics. "Robert, I can…"
"Explain what?" He shouts. "You had sexx with me and you didn't even tell me that you are married! We had an affair! Your husband is at home with your son, thinking that you are at a funeral, while really, you are here, seducing your ex husband and begging him to run away with you!"
"I am damaged! I am broken! Please! You can fix me." She cries.
"You're pathetic!" He yells and attempts to barge out when his phone rings.
Robert takes the call and nearly drops the phone.
He turns around and looks at puffy eyed Allison directly.
"Looks like you are going to a funeral after all." Robert holds back tears. "House is dead."
Boring
His funeral is boring, which is super offensive.
Everyone is embellishing, exaggerating, downright lying, only saying the nice things and leaving out the negatives.
Park got herself hired and she kept the job on her own merits. Adams gave herself the guts to get fired. Masters decided to quit all by herself. Taub became a better father because he wanted to be. Foreman learned from himself. What a bunch of liars but then again, everybody lies.
At least Thirteen, Cameron and Chase were honest.
Thirteen was definitely grateful that he offered to kill her and he is still going to. He'll leave her and Foreman clues that he is alive.
Dominika left out the green card debacle but Stacy was a little more truthful. So they did love him after all but he chooses not to dwell on that, at least not now.
When it comes time for Wilson's eulogy, House's finger hovers over the phone. Any moment now, Wilson is going to trash him and he is going to send the message. Wilson is so predictable.
As Wilson storms out of the room, Foreman cringes, while Chase raises his eyebrows. Thirteen and Cameron cry and Park and Adams exchange troubled glances. Masters squeezes Dominika's hand, while Dominika sobs. Taub sighs. Stacy glares in Wilson's direction but he is already gone.
Blythe gets up and ascends to the podium once more. Before speaking, she turns off the phone in her pocket and readjusts her fake sad face. James should be catching on to Greg by now.
After Blythe dismisses them, the guests disperse.
Chase walks up to House's ash jar and touches it. Something feels off. Something is not right.
"House?" He whispers into the jar like a crazy person.
Obviously, no answer.
"It's been fun." That was the last thing that he said to House.
Yes, it was fun and that was why he stayed with House for all those years. There was a reason why House liked him, even if he would never admit it.
Chase could have taken any job after leaving PPTH. He certainly had the qualifications but he hadn't bothered applying anywhere. Even though he knew that he could stand on his own, he couldn't get PPTH out of his mind.
He'd spent weeks wondering if he had made the wrong decision but he was scared to go back. Now…
"Robert." Allison approaches him carefully.
They pretended that they did not come together by fake hugging and they sat together at the funeral but that does not mean that he isn't still upset.
"Hey." He smiles because the funeral has subsided his anger. "Look, sorry about earlier. He hands her a small disc. "Take this. It's from the good old days."
His head is still spinning as he leaves her with the disc.
"Foreman!" Chase grabs Foreman. "I'd like to return to PPTH as the new head of Diagnostics."
Back to Normal
Martha Masters strides into Firehouse 51, resume in hand.
"Chief Boden!" She knocks on his door.
"Yes, come in." He gestures.
"I am Martha M Masters, the new paramedic applicant." She laughs nervously.
Boden narrows his eyes at her. Although she seems like a talented individual, he has his reservations. Nervous people do not make great paramedics. Plus, this Martha Masters is literally a surgeon, which is an overqualification. Overqualified and nervous, disastrous combination. That Leslie Shay applicant will probably be a better fit.
Allison smiles at the picture on her desktop. Foreman, House, Robert and she all look so happy. She never got to thank Robert for that disc.
She closes her laptop and is faced by her husband and her son. She plasters on a fake smile and proceeds to greet them.
"So, liking the new job?" Foreman asks.
"Yeah!" Chase throws House's, actually his, ball against the wall.
Foreman laughs.
"Uh Foreman, glad to be with you again but laughing is a little…" Chase tries to word his phrase wisely.
"Right." Foreman nods solemnly. Better not to reveal House's secret to everyone.
"So, only your mom knows?" Wilson screams over the noise of his motorcycle.
"Mom, Foreman and now Thirteen. She has definitely got the message by now." House yells.
Thirteen pours herself a glass of wine and cackles as she watches her movie.
"See you soon, House!" She says.
In the Lab
"So which one of us is going to be dating Chase?" Park wonders aloud.
Adams drops the scalpel and it crashes on the floor.
She has screeching flashbacks. Chase's bloody bare chest, her finger being the only thing that was keeping him alive.
"Someone wants to date Chase." Park teases Adams.
Adams picks up the scalpel and plasters a fake indignant look on her face.
She rolls her eyes. "Let's just get back to work."
"You are not even denying it." Park chuckles humorlessly. "You shouldn't sleep with Chase."
"Thank gosh, you got here just in time." Adams rolls her eyes. "House was always prying into our relationships with Chase. It was silly when he was alive and even sillier now that he's gone."
"Yeah yeah. You're 5-9 with curves and glowing hair. You could get it on with him in a heartbeat and I can't." Park growls.
"No, I can't!" Adams covers her mouth at her outburst.
Park perks up. "What do you mean? You tried…?"
Adams's cheeks heat up with pain but she takes a deep breath and tells Park what happened at the end of Season 8 Episode 17.
"Wow." That is all Park says at the end of it. For the first time ever, she feels sorry for Adams.
"Yeah." Adams says. "Old news. I am over it. Like I said, just House getting into my head and I am not letting him screw with me from beyond the grave.
Park knows that Adams is lying. "Come on Adams! Stop lying to yourself. I've seen the way you look at him. You got all stiff when I asked him out in Season 8 Episode 8. You were clearly upset when I moved in with him in Season 8 Episode 16 and you were furious when I dreamt about having sexx with him in Season 8 Episode 18. You are very smitten."
Adams tries to protest but she fails to make a clever rebuttal.
"Look, I can see how much this means to you and I know that you are scared to take another chance but you have to be brave. Opportunities fly by and Chase is a girl magnet. He is not going to be single for long." Park warns Adams.
Adams squeezes the scalpel.
"Life is about taking chances. Life is about living because life can end at any moment. Look at House. Look at Wilson." Park reminisces solemnly.
Adams stares down at the scalpel in her hand. If Chase hadn't been there for her, she would have died that day. If she hadn't ripped his shirt off and plugged her finger into his chest, he would have bled out. They both survived and that has to mean something.
Taking the Initiative
"Eli Vae, divorce attorney."
"Allison Cameron Stevens, your new client."
They sit down to discuss the details. Cameron takes good notes because she wants to establish a solid case before she even notifies her husband.
Even though it breaks her heart, Allison Cameron has come to terms with the fact that she will never be with Robert Chase again but she still needs to get out of her current marriage. She cannot live a lie anymore.
"Hey Chase!" Adams covers her mouth in shock at how loud her voice just was.
Chase looks up in surprise. "What is it Adams? Is something wrong with the patient?"
"No, she is stable." Adams replies.
"Do you need me for something else?" Chase flashes her his signature smile and once again, she feels that same striking warmth in her body, a sensation that she experiences every time that she sees him.
Her heart beats faster than usual.
"Uh...I…" Adams licks her dry lips as she tries to search for the right words.
"You okay?" He notices her indecisiveness but he isn't teasing her.
"Let's go for a drink, as friends." Adams adds desperately, while trying to wipe the hungry look off of her face. "Look, I...it's been a tough time and I...well I haven't seen you in a while and it will be nice to catch up."
Chase swallows before answering her question. He knows what she is really asking because she isn't being that subtle. He can see the spark of desire in her beautiful eyes. Yes, he could turn her down again, but her feelings would be hurt. Sure, she pretended not to care the last time but he could still tell that it did get to her.
Adams wouldn't look at him for a week. And when Park dreamt about having sex with him, Adams was clearly upset, though she said nothing. They didn't exactly say goodbye to each other when he left and they were not exactly on great terms? Season 8 Episode 19 was a melancholy case and she yelled at him in Season 8 Episode 20 for breaking rules. Now, his suspicions have been all but confirmed. She still has a crush on him.
"Yes. Let's go!" He answers much to his own surprise.
Her heart does a somersault.
Burning Bar
When they get to the bar, it is on fire, literally. Flames flicker and dance all over the shattered windows, broken ceiling and cracked crevices. The blood curdling screams of trapped victims begin to diminish as the smoke cuts out their lungs.
The bystanders on the street grasp their mouths in horror as the flames keep rising until they tower over the whole city. Eventually, the firefighters arrive.
Chase feels a tight tug at his arm and he sees that Adams is squeezing it. The orange flames consume her almond eyes. When she realizes that she is grabbing onto his arm, Adams lets go quickly.
"Sorry." She apologizes but she doesn't regret squeezing his hunky bicep. It felt great and now she is wet.
"No worries." He dismisses the apology. "Only natural. House did just die in a fire."
They bow their heads in remembrance.
As they walk away from the scene, Adams feels her arm casually slip into Chase's and he does not pull away.
"Where do you think Wilson went?" Adams wonders.
Chase shrugs. "I do not know. I've known Wilson just as long as I knew House. Wilson really was a tremendous friend to House."
"Yeah, they had a great thing. If we are being honest though, Wilson pretty much said what we were all thinking at the funeral." Adams admits the somber truth.
"You are right. House was quite a character." Chase notices her arm inside his and he likes it. Feels natural.
A rosy flush tints her cheeks, as he tightens their arm link.
"You know, in Season 6 Episode 20, Wilson was redating his first ex-wife and he was concerned that House wasn't getting enough attention. So Wilson paid me, Foreman, Taub and Thirteen to spend time with House. Foreman and I took House to a singing bar and we dropped some mics. No one wanted to follow our act." Chase reminisces.
"Wow. The most fun I had with House was when he got me to almost kill an inmate." Adams laughs.
"Say…" Chase says "why don't we go to a singing bar right now?"
Adams doesn't miss a beat. "Certainly, but you will be singing first. We save the best (me) for last."
"Cute." Chase retorts.
Adams blushes and her heart does another deep dive.
I Touch Myself!
"Chase, that was...incredible!" Adams stutters because he was drop dead amazing, with his gorgeous voice and perfect dynamics. She's struggling not to get more wet.
"Your turn!" Chase hands Adams the mic.
Adams feels her hand shake as she reaches for the mic. The alcohol has really fried up her brain and she cannot concentrate. She wouldn't have needed to drink so much if Chase weren't so hot, if she were not attracted to him, if she were sure that he liked her back.
Things are going so well right now that it worries her. From the way the night is progressing, they could be going home together and she doesn't want to ruin it. The last thing that Adams wants is to end up in the same situation that she was in Season 8 Episode 17, where she took that bold step and he rejected her.
But she's gotten past that obstacle now. They're out at a bar together and they were linking arms. Last time, he did say that it was not really a good idea for him and since time has passed, that means that…
"Adams, are you okay? I think that you have had a little too much to drink." Chase observes.
"I'm fine Dr. Chase!" Adams pushes his arm teasingly. "Wait till I make everyone forget about your performance cause I am going to bring down this house!"
Adams throws her fist up in the air so that House can see.
Thanks for setting me up with Chase, she mouths drunkenly.
Chase recognizes the song as Divinyls "I Touch Myself." He heard it a few times when he first settled in the states.
Adams has a beautiful voice...
I love myself
I want you to love me
When I feel down
I want you above me
Chase feels his pants tighten as he imagines being above Adams, or having her above him. How would it feel to press his body against hers and their tongues sucking each other? He's imagined this many times before, as House astutely observed in Season 8 Episode 5. Adams had already known this…
Course, she was above him once, when he got stabbed and she ripped off his shirt. She had her finger inside him and she was above him. Unfortunately, he was barely conscious because he was busy almost dying.
If he could experience that again, minus the scalpel in the heart.
Stop screwing with me, House! Chase warns the ceiling. House was the one who first shipped them.
I search myself
I want you to find me
I forget myself
I want you to remind me
"Did you want me to ask you out?"
"Yeah, I told Park to tell Taub to tell House to give you that note." She mocks him sarcastically.
"Do you…want to get a drink?
"To annoy Park or to prove House wrong?"
No, Adams actually wanted him, Chase.
I don't want anybody else
Why did he reject her? She had clearly been devastated and she immediately backed down by denying it. He didn't even try to stop her because he didn't want to lead her on, but that doesn't make sense because he was interested.
When I think about you
I touch myself
Oh, I don't want anybody else
Oh no, oh no, oh no
Was he scared to take a chance? He left it open ended and he never got the chance to revisit the situation, until now.
You're the one who makes me come runnin'
You're the sun who makes me shine
That was once Allison, but that time has now passed. Looking back, he should have never chased her.
When you're around, I'm always laughin'
I want to make you mine
Yes, he is always laughing when Adams is around. She makes him feel...
I close my eyes
And see you before me
Think I would die
She almost did die and he saved her life. He almost died.
If you were to ignore me
They did that to each other after Season 8 Episode 17, plus boring talk and yelling.
A fool could see
Just how much I adore you
House saw, but he was no fool.
I'd get down on my knees
I'd do anything for you
At this point, he would do anything with her and he is sober.
I don't want anybody else
When I think about you
And she looks directly at him. Their eyes lock and she peers into his soul. Her almond eyes penetrate every fiber of his being and he feels raw, naked, vulnerable. His heart flutters as a massively warm chill engulfs his body. His pants tighten as they become too small.
When he looks back up, she isn't looking at him anymore but a hint of a smirk materializes over her beaming face.
I touch myself
Oh, I don't want anybody else
Oh no, oh no, oh no, yeah
I love myself
I want you to love me
When I feel down
I want you above me
I search…
Gag!
Adams takes several heavy breaths as she comes down from her high. She sets the mic down and staggers over to Chase. The room becomes blurry as the residual alcohol rips through her last defense mechanisms in the brain.
"Adams, that was incredible!" Chase claps her back but pulls back immediately when he feels her braa strap. His pants get tighter and tigher.
"Thanks." Adams manages to slur.
"Let's get out of here." Chase sees that she is losing focus and he drapes her arm around his body as he helps her out.
Adams trips a little but she does not fall.
He's taking me home! We are going to spend the night together! Adams thinks drunkenly. Everything is as it should be!
Chase finds a bus stop corner and he sits her down.
"We can rest for a moment." Chase suggests but Adams is not listening.
She hops back on her feet and she grabs Chase by the shoulders. The creamy leather jacket melts into her hands as she slams him into the glass.
Chase's shrinking pants and enlarging other part prevents him from escaping her next move. Adams dives in for the kill.
Her lips smash up against his and she savors the soft touch of his skin before she starts biting on lower lip. He opens his mouth and allows her in.
Her tongue licks through the recesses of his mouth, exploring every area there is. Then, it plunges into his throat, clogging up his airway.
She's wanted this for so long and now she finally has it. He's even more delicious than she imagined him being.
Adams uses her right hand to attack Chase's buttons, as her left hand plunges into the middle of his pants. The package is so big and strong that Adams squirms with joy
A thousand sensations go through Chase's head as Adams eats him alive. Pleasure, joy, amazement, concern and restraint.
It takes all of his might but Chase manages to pry Adams off of him.
"Adams, not like this!" He is stern.
She doesn't hear him.
Jessica Adams tilts her head back, then forward and pukes on the floor.
Robert Chase catches her limp body before she can crack her skull.
The Casual Cab Ride
Chase carries Adams in his arms as he navigates through the dark night. He knows where her apartment is because he checked her card but there is no way that he is going to be able to walk all the way there.
"Need a ride?"
Chase spins around, caught off guard by the new voice, which sounds surprisingly familiar, but he keeps his guard up. Anything dangerous could happen and he has to protect Adams.
"Chase!" The driver exclaims. "It's you!"
Chase squints as he tries to make out the driver. "You're that...investigator?"
"Lucas Douglas." Lucas reminds him. "Good to see you. Get in."
Seeing no other choice, Chase enters the car.
"How have you been?" Lucas asks.
"So so." Chase is honest. "You?" He immediately regrets his question, as he remembers Lucas's past with House and Cuddy.
"Ha! Where do I start?" Lucas laughs humorlessly. "Well, we have a long ride ahead of us and you depend on me to get home, so you might as well listen."
"How do you know where my…?" Chase realizes that House must have had Lucas track everyone.
"Well, after Cuddy called off our wedding, I was devastated." Lucas reminisces.
"I am so sorry." Chase extends his sympathies, though he can relate. Cameron almost destroyed their wedding.
"I really...I spent some hard time thinking...doing…" Lucas starts laughing maniacally and Chase frowns.
"You do not have to tell me." Chase glances at the doors but cringes as he realizes that they are locked. He shouldn't have gotten in. Lucas is unhinged...
Adams has her head rested on his lap and he puts his hand over her, protectively.
"I followed them. I followed them around. House and Cuddy! They have no idea how lucky they were. I could have snapped at any moment. When they went to that author's house in Season 7 Episode 3, I could have killed them. They could have become part of that author's front lawn." Lucas licks his lips.
Chase remembers that author fondly but he is too busy trying to figure out a way to get out. Seeing no other option, he silently presses the recording feature on his phone.
"Coulda gotten them in Season 7 Episode 9 but then I woulda had to have cleaned up Cuddy's mom and Wilson as well." Lucas states. "I could have kidnapped Rachel but that babysitter was too good to cross."
Chase's hand trembles and he almost drops his phone.
"When Cuddy dumped House in Season 7 Episode 15, I felt sorry for him. She destroyed him in the same way that she destroyed me. I saw him go on his depressing adventure in Season 7 Episode 16 and I saw him show up with that wife in Season 7 Episode 17, I could tell that he was still miserable. House had suffered and that was Cuddy's fault." Lucas takes a sip of wine and Chase almost screams.
On top of everything, a drunk driver!
"When I saw her with that other guy in Season 7 Episode 23, I wanted to kill her. And I was going to. That monster was trying to take another man down with her and I wasn't gonna have it." Lucas bares his teeth. "But House, he acted before I could. He drove that car straight into her house. Unfortunately, she survived."
Chase hugs Adams tightly and breathes a silent prayer.
"Afterwards, the police arrived and I couldn't touch Cuddy. So, I followed her sister, brother in law home, and I set fire to their home. That took care of them. And I took care of that guy Cuddy had been with earlier." Lucas mentions this casually.
Chase remembers hearing about a fire after Season 7.
"As for Cuddy, I waited for her at her mother's house. Rachel was asleep and so I took out Cuddy's mother first. She was easy to beat. That fake hip...I Darth Mauled her! Cut her in half! When Cuddy walked through that door, she screamed, but not for long." Lucas cackles. "After I disposed of the bodies, I...well...I took care of Rachel."
Chase's stomach is gurgling in sickness. What did this sick man do to that child?
"I couldn't bring myself to do it. So I gave her to her biological maternal grandparents, the Soellners. I falsified some records, spoke to them indirectly, twisted some knots and made it work. I have been spying on them and they are very happy. They are glad to have her." Lucas smiles.
Chase considers smashing the window but it is too risky in a moving car.
"As for Cuddy, well I took care of that loose end. I doctored up her phony resignation the next day and I wiped the Cuddy family record clean. I wiped and tied my tracks so clean that no one would know what I did. Couldn't eliminate House's charges but I did change them. I made it so that his prison term would be shorter. He didn't deserve a life sentence. I did hear that he got out." Lucas says. "Didn't bother checking out much on his new members."
"He died." Chase finally speaks up as he stops the recording.
Lucas laughs. "Oh no. I saw him leave that burning building. He is alive. That body wasn't his."
This man has gone crazy, Chase thinks.
"I saw him leaving with Wilson, earlier today, or really, it was last morning." Lucas tells him.
Before Chase has time to reply, Lucas stops the car.
"There you go!" Lucas hands Chase his own key and Chase snatches it. This freak had his house key!
Chase lifts up Adams and carries her into his apartment. After setting her down on his bed, he rushes out of the bedroom and calls the police.
Trittas
"Wait! I can make you a deal!" Lucas pleads to Tritter, who raises his eyebrows.
"What can you offer me?" Tritter wonders.
"I know your beef with House!" Lucas says.
"What does it matter? He is dead." Tritter saw the report earlier today.
He would have gone to the funeral if he had known earlier. While he never got over his resentment, he wouldn't have minded attending the funeral, at least to gloat. That jackas insulted him and now he is where he belongs.
Speaking of the past, it was funny how Dr. Chase didn't even recognize him. It has been five years and Chase was probably shaken up from his encounter with this Lucas man.
Lucas grabs Tritter by the arm and tells him the whole story about House's survival. What happens next is so rapid that Tritter barely has time to process it properly but at the end of it, Lucas Douglas's head crashes onto the table. There's a bullet hole in his skull and blood oozing out of it.
Tritter gives Chase a call and tells him that Lucas was killed, while attempting to escape custody. The dirty cop puts that same false information in the police report, before making his way to his personal car.
Time to settle that personal score.
Cryptic Phone Call
"Wow, Chase, are you alright?" Foreman can hardly believe the news about Lucas, Cuddy, Rachel...
"Yeah. Since Lucas is dead, we are in the clear but I think that Adams and I are going to have to take the day off. It was a lot." Chase just told Foreman that he and Adams were coincidentally in the same bar and the same cab. No need for details.
"Certainly!" Foreman agrees. "See you tomorrow then."
"Wait!" Chase interjects. "Tell Park that the patient is suffering from dehydration and that cutting caffeine and drinking water should fix the problem."
"Ha! You really are the new brilliant House!" Foreman laughs.
At the mention of House, Chase's ears perk up and he remembers the last thing that Lucas told him.
Should he tell Foreman? It was Lucas's story after all, so Lucas is the crazy one. But if he was all crazy, then how did he know the exact details of Season 7?
Chase gives in and he spills the details to Foreman.
Foreman says nothing.
"Foreman!? Are you there?" Chase asks.
"Yea...h." Foreman swallows his spit before telling Chase about the name tag underneath the chair.
"So that means that…!" Chase almost screams.
"Indeed." Foreman confirms. "We will talk later. Get some rest."
Cryptic Feelings
Chase puts down the phone. So House is alive. That explains Wilson's phone call at the funeral and why he stormed out. Hopefully, they are well. Creepy Lucas will not be catching up to them. Chase heads over to the shower.
Before entering the bathroom, he takes a look at Adams, who is sleeping peacefully in his bed. She's wearing a white tank top and cargo shorts. Adams is hugging Chase's pillow tightly and there is a comfortable smile on her face. Chase wonders if she is imagining doing it with him.
He wonders if she would be up for taking a shower with him.
Chase shakes his head and blinks his eyes at the pleasing thought. That Lucas thing really screwed with his brain and he hasn't been able to process much of anything else.
Last night with Adams had felt so raw, so real, so good. Sure, she was drunk during the song but before that, they were easily bonding. Their arms linked so naturally. What he felt during her song, those naked emotions, the way she looked at him, peered into his soul. Even though she was hammered, he knows that there was something to that stare, or was there?
Chase glares up at the sky and then looks back down. Since House is not really dead, he cannot be blamed for this mind turmoil.
"House has a way of getting into people's heads." That was Adams's excuse.
"Yeah!" Chase offers no pushback.
"Now, you two would make a cute couple!" House is teasing but Chase isn't sure. This new doctor is drop dead gorgeous. Probably just the hormones talking, or something more.
Chase knows that he and Adamshave something together, but he can't figure out what it is, or maybe he has but he is too scared to admit it? That was why he rejected her in Season 8 Episode 17, was it not?
Chase puts his thoughts on hold as he takes off his shirt and hops into the shower, alone.
Not a Hangover
He gives into her kiss and presses his body against hers. She loops her arms over his neck and plunges her tongue up his throat.
"I love you." She manages to whisper into his throat.
He dislodges his mouth from hers and begins to respond to her profession/confession but the dreams ends.
Jessica Adams feels groggy and a little hungover but she manages to open her eyes. When she sees where she is, she nearly falls off the bed. Where is she? How did she get here?
The last thing that she remembers is making out with Chase at the bus stop and then he pulled her off of him and...oh no! She threw up and passed out. After that, things went dark but she has a vague recollection of resting her head on Chase lap and Chase hugging her tightly.
Did they? No, there is no way that she slept with him because she would definitely remember that. Then why did he bring her here?
Adams rubs her eyes and stretches out her body as she gets up and heads over to the bathroom. She opens the door and there he is, with nothing on but a towel over his waist.
Her heart lurches as she attempts to avert her gaze from his chiseled chest and well formed abbs, which are glistening with droplets of water, but his rippling biceps are equally distracting. Out of the corner of her eye, she can see the red gash marks scar, from when he saved her life. Chase grabs his gray shirt and pulls it on quickly, much to her dismay.
"You're up!" Chase breathes a sigh of relief and he smiles at her.
Her heart does a flip. "Chase...I…"
She does not know where to begin but luckily, he interjects.
Chase tells Adams everything that Lucas said.
"So House is...?" Adams tries to process.
"Alive." Chase nods. "Anyway, you can take a shower and I will be in the kitchen, preparing breakfast. Come join me when you are done."
Or you could join me in the shower, Adams thinks silently. It would feel great to have your body go into mine.
Honestly, she is rather relieved that the Lucas thing happened. What better distraction from having to confront her feelings. Still, Adams knows that she cannot run away from her emotions forever.
Something is going to happen...
The Stalker
Ali, House's stalker from Season 3, twiddles the Peach Blossoms in her sharply manicured hands. Delaware is quite the state to be in right now.
A gust of wind blows the flower out of her hand and Ali coughs as dust fills her lungs. Two dark cloaked men in motorcycles...motorcycles...that reminds her of Dr. House…when he got her on his motorcycle but Dr. Cuddy stopped them.
It's been over five years but Ali never forgot about him. She realizes that the feelings that she had about him at the time were hyperbolic and creepy but he was special…
It was utterly devastating when she found out that he died recently. Ali just saw the news and she hasn't processed it yet. If she does, she's going to lose it, so she is stalling herself with the flowers.
A car pops out of nowhere and blocks the motorcycles.
The car door opens and a white haired man steps out of the car. Both of the motorcyclists gasp so loud that Ali can hear them from twenty feet away. Her ears perk up because she recognizes the sound of one of their voices but it certainly can't be…
"Hello House!" Tritter pulls out his gun and points it at him. "Lucas Douglas sends his regards. Actually, he sent them. He is looking up at us right now, along with your friend Cuddy. Turns out that Lucas was stalking you in Season 7 and he killed Cuddy right after you drove your car into her house."
Wilson speaks up. "Tritter...listen to me…"
Tritter laughs. "And you...well I am not letting you go either. I never forgave you guys and now I am ready to settle my score. The best part is that no one will know and I will get away with this."
"Yah!" Ali lands a blow in Tritter's legs and he buckles down in agony.
"Kabam!" Ali tosses the gun next to Tritter's corpse.
"Ali!" House exclaims in shock.
"Hello Dr. House. I guess you didn't die?" Ali assumes.
Brunch
"This tastes great!" Adams finally decides to break the awkward silence.
"Good. It is helpful to eat after a hangover." Chase bites his tongue. So much for avoiding the awkwardness.
Adams blushes and lowers her head in shame.
"Chase...I…" Adams begins to say something.
"It's alright! We don't have to talk about it." Chase reassures her, even though he does want to address it.
Perhaps last night was real, or it was simply the alcohol talking. Either way, it is a problem because if it was the former, then he doesn't know if he is ready for a relationship and if it was the latter, then he doesn't think that he can get over her. They have something and right now, it is ambiguous.
He wants to keep it that way.
Adams tries to read Chase's thoughts. Is he embarrassed? Does he not like me? Or is he still shaken up?
They finish the rest of their breakfast in silence.
As they are doing the dishes together, Adams flicks a little bit of soap and it hits Chase on the nose.
"Hey!" He takes indignance and she laughs.
He strikes back and bubbles hit her hair.
"You know...I like it better down." Chase comments as his hand instinctively strokes her hair.
A chill passes through Adams and she leans forward until her face is mere inches away from his. Their eyes lock and it is emerald blue against almond brown. All four eyes are swimming with so many emotions that neither can read the other but the one thing that they both see in each other is...desire.
She puckers up for a kiss.
"Ring!" Chase answers his phone. "Scam call!"
"Hate those." A red tint passes through her cheeks.
"Say, why don't we go to the aquarium today." Chase suggests. "We don't have to go in today, so…"
"Yeah, sounds fun." Adams agrees. "You did recommend it to that little kid in Season 8 Episode 19, after she recovered."
"Yeah." Chase smiles at her while he puts away the dishes.
Hotel and Former Patients
"That was so wrong!" Wilson limps out of the hotel lobby.
"Ali is twenty three now." House makes the excuse. "Plus, I am fake dead and you are really dying and we all wanted some. You gotta live man!"
Wilson cackles. "Yeah, last time I did a three way was with Bonnie and Caramel."
"Would be great to run into Caramel and Emily!" House snickers.
"So, are you okay?" Wilson takes a more somber tone.
They never got to talk about the solemn situation. It was dispose of Tritter's body, eliminate his car, head to the hotel and catch up with Ali on the way.
House closes his eyes. "It was a lot to take in. I never really considered, thought about Lucas after Season 6. I figured that he would have been sad but I never knew that he wanted to kill us. And Cuddy…All that time I was expecting her to come see me in jail and she was already gone." He chokes up.
"Hey, it is okay. It was not your fault!" Wilson pats his arm.
"I know." House opens his eyes and nearly slams into the wall when he sees who is front of him.
"Rachel Cuddy!" Wilson gasps as he and House head to their motorcycles.
House recognizes the Soellners. They look so much happier than they did in Season 5 Episode 11. Back then, they had given up their granddaughter and they were losing their daughter. Now, much better.
Rachel laughs maniacally as her grandparents lift her up.
"So sorry!" A tiny man runs into House.
"It is...okay...Taub!" House's face loses color as Taub's face also turns white.
Taub looks at House and then at Wilson as he begins to make the connection. House sees Ruby, Rachel Taub, Sophie and Sophia in the distance.
"Good to see you Taub!" Wilson says and he quickly leads House out.
"Dr. Taub!"
Taub loses balance but Ruby catches him. He looks around and he is faced with Julia, Tom and their daughter from Season 6 Episode 19, as well as Abby, Nick, Artie, June from Season 6 Episode 16 and also Ryan, Kay, Todd from Season 7 Episode 15.
"Hi everyone!" Taub manages to regain his concentration and he smiles at them all. "This is my family! Rachel, Ruby, Sophie and Sophia!"
Ryan shakes hands with Taub. "Thank you Dr. Taub! You really set me on the right path! I spent some time in therapy and I wouldn't be here if not for you."
"Thank you!" Todd and Kay also extend their gratitude.
"Good to see you Dr. Taub!" Julia, Tom, Abby, Nick and Artie also extend their greetings.
"Great to see you doing well!" Taub points to Abby and Nick.
"Expecting twins like yours." Artie laughs.
"Well…" Ruby explains the situation.
Awkward silence.
"So you tried open marriage?" Julia asks and Tom frowns.
"Longer story!" Rachel answers as she begins telling it.
Watery Entrance
"Dr. Chase!" Brandon and Mindy from Season 1 Episode 3 catch sight of Chase and Adams.
"Hi!" Chase remembers them.
"We just dropped our seven year old twins off at the special exhibit for their field trip!" Mindy explains. "We were actually headed to a hotel."
Chase smiles because he remembers what Brandon and Mindy were doing when Brandon got sick. Twenty-two year old men, now twenty nine or thirty, do not die of sexx.
"I always thought that you would end up with Dr. Cameron. You tried to ask her out at the end of Season 1 Episode 3." Brandon blurts out carelessly.
Adams's face darkens and Mindy hits Brandon on the arm.
"Sorry!" He apologizes.
"Actually, Allison Cameron and I were married but that is old news." Chase elaborates on the situation.
"I was half right then." Brandon mutters to Mindy as Chase and Adams enter the aquarium.
"Let's just head to the hotel." Mindy breathes into his ear and cups the middle of his pants and he squirms in delight.
Aquarium
"It's nice, not having to worry about husbands or wives." Adams brings up.
"Yeah." Chase decides to not tell Adams about that little incident with Cameron before House's funeral.
"My husband cheated on me left and right. It was...unpleasant." Adams laments.
"My wife always had doubts and she looked for ways to shut me out and leave me. She succeeded." Chase speaks dryly.
"I'm sorry!" They tell each other.
Chase's fingers naturally slip into her hand and her cheeks light up with pleasure. They squeeze each other's hands as bad memories of their marriage keep flooding back. Their eyes meet briefly but they quickly avert their attention back to the exhibit.
The two of them gaze at the cheery penguins in amazement.
"Hi!" It is a little girl's voice.
Elizabeth, Simon and Emily from Season 8 Episode 19, approach Chase and Adams.
"Great to see you again!" Simon shakes hands with Chase.
"Yeah, we never got to thank you guys. I know that I was difficult to work with." Elizabeth apologizes for her past behavior.
"My parents got back together!" Emily yells excitedly.
"That's awesome!" Adams pinches Emily's cheek.
"So, you two on a date?" Emily gestures to Adams and Chase holding hands.
"Uh…" Chase struggles to respond and Adams bites her lips.
"Come on Emily!" Elizabeth points at the penguins. "Let's take a look at the penguins."
"Good to see you!" Simon gives their goodbyes.
After the family leaves, Chase and Adams stand there silently for a moment.
They don't say much for the remainder of the exhibit.
Department of Diagnostics
"Well, I look forward to seeing you next month. I am sure that you will set up a great Department of Diagnostics!" Henry, the non doctor House candidate from Season 4, shakes hands with Allison Cameron.
"Thank you! It is great to see a former face from PPTH!" Cameron says to him.
"Likewise Dr. Cameron!" Dean Henry is excited for the future prospects of his hospital. He'll always be grateful to Dr. House for letting him go, so that he could find this opportunity. Who knew that being an administrator could be this lucrative?
Allison Cameron recoils in the Arizona heat, a phenomenon that she is not used to in Chicago, or New Jersey. Absolutely foreign!
"Dr. Cameron!" It is Calvin from Season 2 Episode 7.
"Hey Calvin!" Cameron has let go of her anger towards him because the important thing is that she never got HIV and she didn't infect Robert either. If she had, then she would have never forgiven herself. She can hardly forgive herself for everything else anyway.
"Did you…?" Calvin prods politely.
"Never got infected." Cameron notifies him.
"Oh…" Calvin is relieved.
"Gotta go!" If she stays with him any longer, she is going to have flashbacks to that episode, where she slept with Robert for the first time. Things were so much simpler then and she had every chance with him. She wants to go back and fix everything but alas, what's done is done.
Allison Cameron speeds to the airport. Her husband thinks that she is at a medical conference. Once she gets home, she will be serving him the divorce papers and leaving him full custody. He's a better parent than she is and that is what their son deserves.
It'll probably take her a month to move and settle in Arizona. That is why she asked Dean Henry if she could start in a month.
Apartment
"Why don't we head to my apartment?" Adams makes the suggestion.
"Sure." Chase accepts.
She spent the night at his apartment, so it is only fair that he visits hers. At least that is their rationale as he sets course for her home.
They have no umbrellas, so the impromptu rain scorches them mercilessly as they run into the building.
"Awesome penthouse!" Chase screams over the lightning.
"Thanks." Adams pulls him in the right direction.
They toss off their shoes and she turns on the heater.
As the heat hits her body, Adams feels her muscles tighten and she fixes her gaze on Chase. There is no point in dragging this affair out anymore. He knows that she likes him and now more than ever, she is sure that he likes her back. This is her chance. This is her moment.
Adams grabs Chase by the chest and slams him against her expensive wall. She kisses him with full force and shoves her tongue down his throat. He gives into her advances and lets her drive.
The host guides her guest to the bathroom and they hop into the shower with their clothes still on. Once the water starts running, they undress.
She starts by stripping him of his leather jacket and then his shirt. Adams licks Chase's wet chest and as he pulls gently at her blouse. Again, she slams him into the wall and traces her fingers all over his chiseled abs and chest, taking her time to explore every part of him.
As he finishes unhooking her blouse, Adams presses her lips against the scar on Chase's heart and tastes his heartbeat in her mouth.
The shower gets steamier and steamier, until the windows are too foggy to see through.
After
"That was incredible!" Adams rests her body on Chase's bare chest and his heartbeat thumps against her hand.
"Yeah!" Chase wraps his arm around her and holds her tightly. "Glad we resolved the tension."
She reacts to his comment by kissing him and their tongues tangle around for a moment.
"I really like you, Jessica!" Chase finally admits.
A red blush tints Jessica's cheeks, which are now devoid of all makeup but even more beautiful.
"I like you too Robert." Jessica purrs.
"We go official tomorrow. I want everyone to know that we are together. You are taken and I am taken!" Robert declares.
Jessica is thrilled by Robert's enthusiasm.
They have more before cuddling into each other and falling asleep together.
